Pro Tools key command set?

Is this no longer included? That's a real shame. does anyone know how to accomplish this? I don't see it in the key commands menu, and the logic setup assistant is no more..

Hey I just read a post by "Fuzzy chair Productions" in a different thread and they posted this explanation of how to import Logic 7 key commands, set your keys in 7 to protools settings, then use this to import the ones that match up into Logic 8. Don't know for sure if it'll work, because I don't want to do it. But worth a try, and thanks to Fuzzy chair Productions for the explanation below:
To import Logic 7 key commands into Logic Pro 8:
In the Key Commands window, choose Options > Import Key Commands.
Select the Logic 7 preferences file in the file selector you can find it >~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
Logic Pro 8 will inform you about all changes which apply to your key command set at this point.
Note: Some Logic 7 commands may work differently—or may not be functional at all in Logic Pro >8.
To switch back and forth between the Logic Pro 8 and Logic 7 key command sets, you need to >export the Logic 7 key command set in the Logic Pro 8 format.
To export a key command set in Logic Pro 8:
In the Key Commands window, choose Options > Export Key Commands.
Type a name such as “My Logic 7 Key Commands” and click Save.

  • Pro Tools Key Command preset

10.1's Key Command Preset list now, for some reason on my testbed Mac, includes a Pro Tools preset which was selected by default.... after the update
Had to manually change it back to U.S. preset....
This testbed Mac has never had any version of PT installed on it nor any Avid products....
This key command preset was not present prior to the 10.1 update
The fact it was selected by default after the upgrade is a little worrisome....

Maybe it is a hint that Apple secretly bought Avid (finally) and ProTools will be merged into Logic into the next update "Logic Pro XI"

  • Save key commands set without quitting program

When I change I couple of key commands do I have to quit Logic and restart to have the changes saved or is there a smarter solution? (I remember a command "Save preferences" on Atari:-)

Aha! They finally have fixed this problem. I'm relieved to hear that. Thanx.

  • Why on earth did they change the selection tool key commands?

Am I crazy? I've been using AI for over a decade, and thought I had the keystrokes down to second nature by now. But now every time I try to use keystrokes to switch temporarily to the select, direct select, and group select tools, everything is constantly coming out wrong. This is just confusing the hell out of me. Am I getting Alzheimer's already? Or did they really change something that core to how we work minute by minute? If the latter, what in the name of God inspired that?

    jonf:
The logic is trying to keep keyboard shortcuts consistent between products in the Suite. That way you don't have to remember 4 or 5 different shortcut sets.
You can go into your Keyboard Shortcuts and remap them to a great extent. Like I switched my Direct Selection Tool from no shortcut to Shift-A and the Measure Tool to Shift-H like in the olden days. Save your set and you're good!
    Have fun!
PS: I hope I understood your issue correctly 8^)

  • Key Command troubles: Set Region/Event Start to SPL Position not working?

    Hello,
I'm simply trying to find a key command that will allow me to move regions quickly from one part of a song to another without dragging with them with the mouse in the arrange window. I thought I found the solution with the key command "Set Region/Event Start to SPL Position", however it doesn't seem to be doing anything!
Here's what I've tried: First I select the region I want to move, then I move my SPL to a location using the "go to Position" key command and typing in a bar. I then try to use the "Set Region/Event Start to SPL Position" key command (which I set to Shift-Control-L) and nothing happens. Shouldn't it be moving my region to the SPL? Note: the region is still selected, but refuses to move. Am I doing something wrong? Is this not what this key command was designed to do?
In my attempts to get the darn thing to work, I also discovered that lock screen-set (Shift-L) key command also does not seem to work (it is not toggling the black dot after the screen-set number like usual). Does this mean my key commands may be corrupted? (which would be a real drag!!) Oddly enough, these are the two are the only two that do not seem to be working, as all others seem to be working fine (AFAIK).
I've had this problem in the past with the lock screen-set key command not working, and rebuild all key commands and templates when I upgraded to tiger. I thought everything was working fine!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!!

I assigned F5 to two functions. In the key commands
window, pressing F5 highlighted the first assignment.
Pressing it again highlighted the second assignment.
So just keep pressing the key to see whether it's
assigned to more than one command...
Well, now when I type "Shift-L" into the finder in the top right of the key commands window, no key commands at all are show. However, which I search for the word "lock," the lock screenset key command comes up as "Shift-L." Oddly, if I search any other key commands (such as F1, "cmd-k," or even other shift ones like "shift-," the associated key commands show up.
To test, I changed the screen set lock from Shift-L to "opt-ctrl-L" and it now works again. However, it still will not come up in the key commands window through searching by "opt-ctrl-L"
On what may be a side note, the search feature seems very buggy! Tell me if I'm doing this right: First I open the key commands window, which opens with nothing selected. Now, in order to search by key command I go up to the top right corner where the magnifying glass is, place my curser inside and type in the key command correct? When I do this, it shows me the highlighted key command in the left, and my curser is no longer flashing up in the magnifying glass, correct?
Now, in order to search again, I have to place my curser in the search field again, right? However, now when I search by key command, not all of them register! For example, my "go to position" key command is simply ; but when I type it, nothing comes up in the search, and instead of the magnifying glass window being blank like before, the actual ; is in the box. Oddly enough, searching with "Cmnd-K" still works!
What is going on? Am I doing something wrong? How do I fix this, as it is very frustrating!! thanks again for your help

  • Redefining Shortcut Key Commands??

How would i go about redefining the R key (currently set to record) to Zoom In?
I am so used to the ProTools shortcut keys, I rebound them in Logic Pro 7.2, but they seem grayed out in the "Logic Pro > Preferences > Key Commands" Menu
I can't figure it out, and I've looked in the manuals, Its gotta be something simple?

  • Logic 7.1 and Pro Tools...a few questions...

    Hi everyone,
I just have a couple of questions regarding Logic and Pro Tools. My employer has commissioned me to upgrade his studio from Logic 5.0 (mac os version) to the latest version, which is now 7.1.1 (but we may stick with 7.1 just till I'm sure it won't mess up his setup). I thought I'd post just to get a bit of clarification.
Here are the details of his main theatre studio:
    Pro Tools 6.4.1
    2 x Digidesign 888 I/O Interface
    OS X Panther 10.3.5
    Dual 1.25 GHz G4
    1 Gig DDR SDRAM
I've read and seen a lot of posts regarding big problems running Logic and certain configurations of Pro Tools in conjunction, however until now this has not been a concern for me as my studio is purely based off of core audio Logic 7.1 and Reason 3.03. So here are the main questions I have:
    1. How much is the upgrade going to be? Is is just the standard upgrade or is he going to get shafted and have to buy the whole program again (NOTE: he does have the dongle and all the necessary paperwork from Logic 5.0 mac version)
    2. Are there known problems with the configuration that I've outlined above, I really don't want to suggest he go ahead and a) upgrade b) buy the the program again if he must, if there is going to be a problem, he predominantly works in Pro Tools and Logic will just be available as an added selling point to his studio, and composition ablity.
Any information about this or clarification would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance,
    Graham Campbell
PS - if you need more info to answer don't hesiate to ask.

    Hi Justin,
thanks for the advice/info...I got the quote for the upgrade it'll be 435 Canadian after tax (Just curious if we order the upgrade will it upgrade to 7.1? or do we need to get that seperate, I was confused by your wording).
As for the setup my employer hasn't used Logic at all in a professional setting. He had 5.0 Platinum in case any of his clients needed it however that hasn't been the case, he said it was working fine though. As for Pro Tools, his setup the one I mentioned above, has been rock solid all the way up to 10.3.9 (which he has on two of his other editing sweets). So hopefully that will be the case for Logic as well. I've told him that I think he'll need to address the RAM issue as I'm sure he'll be suprise how quick Sculpture etc eat up the RAM.
My main concern was wether running Logic not using the 'built in audio' driver but rather say the Pro Tools interface would be incompatible, hope that makes sense I haven't done any Pro Tools with Logic set ups before so the wording may wrong. Thanks for the reply though, cheers,
    Graham

  • MIDI command sets

I've been working out a way to remix live with logic, and only two things stand in my way. Every time I make a key command on my controller for a mute button, I always have to push the button twice to go from "mute" to "unmute" and vice versa. I can get it to work properly if I put in the command twice, but is there a way to only put in the command once and have it work properly?
My second problem: I need separate key command sets for my MIDI controller in each song I do, but every time I make a new one, the commands continue into the next song, so basically it reads the key commands for the whole application instead of one song. Is here a way to create key command sets only for each song instead of a universal set?

    I do it a lot
could you paste screnshot of your command set?
    I've recently met another issue,
with my command set definition as below (as you can see its very simple):
almost every show is blocked (as suspected) but not "show run" (which is strange for me)

  • Importing default key commands.

ALOHA! I had the keycommands acting crazy on a project I am working on, so as a quick fix to keep working I initalized them.
How do I import the default keycommands back to this project?

Note: You will lose your existing key command assignments if you make use of the Initialize functions, so ensure that you have created a copy of your Logic Preferences file before doing so.
    Saving Key Commands
Your personal key assignments are stored in a separate Preferences file. You should:
    • Make a backup of this file at another hard disk location.
    • Make a backup on removable media (a CD-ROM, for example), in case you need to use Logic on another computer.
    Importing Key Commands
This function is particularly useful if you need to work temporarily on someone else’s system; you might want to use your personal key assignments on it, without altering the other system’s settings.
The Options > Import Key Commands function allows you to import the key assignments from any Logic Preferences file. When selected, a file selector box allows you to browse any internal drive or removable media for the desired Logic Preferences file.
The existing Preferences file (on the target system) is automatically saved as a ∗.bak file.
This file contains the old key commands.
Note: You don’t need to restart Logic to begin using the new key command set.

  • Logic X default key commands - I accidentally deleted them. How can I get them back?

Logic X default key commands - I accidentally deleted them. How can I get them back? Is it necessary to reinitialize the program or can I get the key commands somewhere else? Thanks!

Choose Logic Pro X > Key Commands > Edit
From the Key Commands window, choose Options > Presets.
What do you see in that menu? You should see something like this:

  • Reloading Factory Key Commands

Ugh. I've been trying to reload the midi key commands to the way they were when I first installed. I can't find an original file. I read one post that said there would be a file in preferences. What would it be called as I couldn't locate it?
I was trying to set up a footswitch through my Motu and I chose "initialize" key commands thinking it would revert to factory settings - now it's on something funky.
    Thanks.
    Andy

    Hmm...
I started with logic on a powerbook set up. I wonder
if that's the problem. Recently I switched to a
tower set up. If I'm understanding you correctly,
it's possible that I migrated my powerbook
preferences to the new tower?? That would have
allowed me to stick with my powerbook keycommands up
until now - when I reinitalized it all??
Yes, that seems likely. If you re-run the Logic Setup Assistant, you can select the PowerBook key command set and it will modify your preferences accordingly. Or, you should be able to import them from the key command window if you have a copy of your old preferences file somewhere.
Whatever you decide to do, make a backup copy of your current preferences file just in case

  • Logic crashed, key commands no longer work as well as certain windows/preferences/tools no longer exist, help!

While trying to record a guitar track direct through from a POD HD Pro (which I've done numerous times), Logic suddenly crashed. The screen went dark and my Macbook Pro rebooted. Once I opened Logic Pro X again, it looks like a more primitive and basic version of Logic. I no longer have the capability to open a separate mix/midi/score/etc window. When I select midi tracks they do not show up in the piano roll as to be able to edit. I've also lost all key command functions (i used just default Logic key commands). Is there any way to restore Logic Pro X or do I need to reinstall it? Thanks!

Sounds like Logic's prefs got deleted or corrupted so...
First, do this (Note you will lose any custom key commands you may have created ...)
Quit Logic pro X and then....
    Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    Restart the computer.
Now after restarting Logic... go to Logic Preferences/Advanced and turn on all the advanced features...
Set other preferences back to how you like them (Not forgetting selecting your Audio device)
Things should be then back to normal again...

It's a new machine - and the Thunderbolt Display is meant to work with it. You need to just make an appointment at your local Apple Store and have them fix whatever is wrong.
If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...
