Pro Workflow 50hrs P2 Material, 1080p25, Timetools AudioTC(Renamed Subject)

Hi,
I'm working on a documentary with approximately 50 hours of material, DVCPro HD 1080p25. There are several shooting-periods and we're already working on it.
I logged and transfered the media to separate shooting-day bins and divided it by Firestore and Card number, eg 200801_16FS1.
Audio is recorded on HD and there is an external TC generator on the camera (HVX-200) making a audio signal with TC, linked to the audio recorder (Cantar).
With Timetools 1.0 (updated it to 1.1 but it didn't work, Leopard maybe?) I overwrite the video TC and I manually merge the clips by TC.
Sorry for the long introduction.
Now the problem....
Because of 2 Firestore and 3 P2 folder each day I made a day-sequence of all the material as an overview (separate days). Also the audio runs longer so I had to combine clips on the day-sequence.
Now if I work with the day-sequence I have to scroll the sequence, find the material, match frame it, adjust the I and O point an patch the audio (because I don't want to use the first 4 tracks of camera audio). Before I can insert or overwrite in my working-sequence.
Or..
Scroll the sequence, find the material, set I-O, cut I-O, copy, and paste it in the working-sequence.
If I want to go back to the day-sequence from the working-sequence I have to match frame (I see the merge clip), reveal in browser, read out the bin name, go to the day-sequence.
This all seems a little bit too complex, and I've the feeling it can go a lot quicker.
So I'm open for all suggestions.

Workflow to approve Material Master creation

When Material is created -> Check & Approval (Yes) -> Material is active
-> Check & Approval (No) -> Material is inactive

Hi,
Before designing the workflow, you need to find what is the business object and what is the event which gets triggered when material master is created... you can do that using event trace....
1. SWELS - switch on trace
2. Create material
3. SWEL - check trace to find which event is fired
This will give you business object name..
Now start building workflow using SWDD... Go thru basic steps for designing workflow...

CS6 Premiere Pro Workflow

In the limited time I have, I am attempting to learn Premiere Pro and have working through the CS6 tutorials that creativecow.com have to offer. However, it would be a great help if I had a better idea on the workflow (in simple terms) such as:
Set parameters
Import files into Project Panel
Open each file (one at a time) in Source Monitor for adjustments i.e. (In and Out points)
When all files (Clips) have been edited, bring them into the timeline from the
        Project Panel, or
        Source Monitor, or
       Either one?
Make final adjustments to footage on the timeline
Move to SpeedGrade for color adjustment's
Move back to Premiere Pro for rendering
Editing of footage is finished
Questions:
1. Could someone give me a suitable workflow similar to the example I give above (if not correct).
2. Also, it seems that all editing of any footage can be done in either of the Source or Program panels, is this correct, and if so, why 2 panels?

Source Monitor, or - YES! Do this as you work on each one in the Source Monitor.

Workflow Approval on Material Document

Hallo,
My client requires approval workflow on good receipts.
I would like to share my vision and check with you feasibility or alternatives.
I was thinking to exploit the 'Hold' status, as follow:
1) go to MIGO, input data, put the document on hold
2) start an approval workflow.
3) when workflow ends, create the material document.
Issue is on the business Object, as cannot use MKPF, as the Document on hold status does not get a document number yet.
I have found that 'Held' document are stored in table MMIM_PREDOC_ORG,
I was thinking to create an ZBusiness Object based on the key of table MMIM_PREDOC_ORG, and there create all the relevant methods.
Still I have not figured out how can the approval can be performed technically. (no approve or release button on MIGO)
Would you say this is a viable solution?
Please let me have your feedback.

Either you create a module pool that looks like the MIGO Tcode with some button or you use a decisiontask with some options.

Pros & Cons of Maintaining Material at Company Specific

We are implementing SAP for our Client having 5 companies in single Server.
Client is insisting on creating materials company specific.
In SAP, Material master is Client Specific.
Can anyone tell us what are the Pro's and corn's of Maintaining Material at company specific and at Group (Client) Level.

If you are creating Material Company Specific, then each company will be having same material i.e Glouse and in SAP database, Glouse will be available 5 Times with different material numbers one for each company.
why five time different material number ?
material number decide by material type not company code
and material type is at client level.
as i told you same material code you can extend in different plant with same number.
as a consultant I have question for you
if you have different material code for one material in different company code then how you will do STO
you can not do it
for STO process same material code will should be in both plant of company code.
this drawback of what you wrote

Workflow Help regarding Material master workflow

I have a requirement as follows...anyone can help me or tell me the possibility of doing this..
1. Basis material will be created with mandatory fields.
2.Once the above material is stored it has to trigger workflow to inimate 10 members to fillup the fields(appropriate) for this material based on the material type and the fields to which they are attached or responsible.
3. In the sameway the plant data needs to be maintained by 5 persons in addition to the above based on the plant.
Help me to setting up this in ECC 6.0.

this sounds like a great iteration on the MM02 transaction. If the users can live with the standard screens, you can call transaction with a view corresponding to the selection in the beginning of the screen. The real chalange in this workflow is how to controle and maintain all the agents to do which enrichment of the material. This can be done with a small workflow, where you construct a large controle table, in which you can maintain, who will (or what roles) will maintain which views. When the agents have been found, create a subworkflow to run in parallel, for each agent.

Check the business object all the attributes in the log. If you get its fine if not create an attribute write your logic in that for changed material.

Audition + Logic Pro workflow?

Hello...new to the forum.
Like many here, I am a prodigal son returning to the fold (former cool edit user who went the logic route and is now coming back home after "seeing the light"). Just curious to know if there are people here who employ both Logic pro and Audition in their daily workflow and how exactly they do it. Is there a way to use Audition as a plugin in Logic? My ideal workflow would be one where I CREATE my music in Logic (MIDI and all), RECORD my vocals in Logic, EDIT the vocals in Audition (noise reduction, normalization, some FX), MIX in Logic and MASTER in Audition. Any insights into this would be greatly appreciated.

Logic's 'export' functionality is amongst the most flawed there is but you could be lucky with FCP xml or even OMF but it sounds to me the simplest thing would be to bounce your vocal takes down to a single wav file (starting from the beginning of the track) and just edit that wav file in Audition and then reopen your Logic session.
Remember that no fx or midi would be converted between the daws so all fx & midi would need to be rendered.
When you have finished mixing then master your final stereo track in Audition
Done.

Workflow and BPEM material related to IS-U

So could you please provide information (documentation) as where to find it and how can we modify it as per client requirement?
2. BPEM process is also available but documentation (ccokbook) or related info is not available.

Activating Workflow Purchase Order Material Management:

I am working in the Workflow for Purchaser Order.
Actually I have to notify when an Order have been created.
I am using the BUS2012 and also using as basis the Workflow WS20000075.
My problem is that I pre-configured Workflow in the transaction SWU3 and everything is OK.
And I activated the WF in the transaction SWDD in the start events:
Category: Object Type: Event of the object:
BO BUS2012 RELEASESTEPCREATED
And every time that I am creating a new Purchaser Order the Workflow automatic deactivated, and I have to activate this again manually.
Is there any way to avoid the deactivating?
Or Are there any way obligate the Workflow always been active?

Thanks for your help. I have two possible solutions. Can you tell me what do you think about these?
I entered to the transaction SM21 and check the logs. I found the following:
The enqueue lock for the work item, which was set by the who has been invalidated by the execution of an application met Business Workflow. This problem only occurs when the function DEQUEUE_ALL is called within the application method. The who runtime system consequently has an inconsistent status. The symptoms can arise:Work items have the status COMPLETED although the completin received and processed. The workflow container has an undefined status Deadlocks occurs in the workflow database tables
So, We need to aplicate a note, and the basis is working on that.
While the basis is working on that I used the transaction SWEQADM, in basic data I change the information of the receiver error feedback to: Do not change linkage, and now is working, the WF is not deactivating with this.
Actually I hope that the note help me, and I can put instead of do not change linkage, the standard Deactivation of linkage.
What do you think about it?

Workflow event for material reservation(mb21),QA02 transaction

I created material reservation(mb21), but no event was triggered for the transaction.
I checked for event in swel.(event trace is on).
please let me know how to handle this.
please also let me know the event of qa32.

Here you go:
MB21 ==>
1. Create a subtype of BUS2093. (Through SWO1 T.code)
2. Create an event "Created". (Through SWU_EWCD T.code)
QA32 is a report for Inspection Lot. Hence I infer you probably want creation event for a inspection lot.
QA01 ==> Inspection lot
BUS2045 --> Inspection lot
Follow same steps of 1 & 2 above for the "Created" Event

Premiere / RedCine-X Pro Workflow Question

Hi Folks,
I have been trying to find a solution for the last couple of months. I know out there someone has an answer for me.
So I keep trying.
Here is my question / problem.
1- I make my first color correction with Redcine, then save the rm.'s
2- Then I do my edit with Premiere. When finished export the edit as xml.
3- Import the xml to RedCine-X Pro again to do fine tunings according to the edit.
4- Do my fine tunings and save rm.'s again.
Here is the problem.
When I open my existing edit in premiere my fine tuned color correction should be available, instead I still see
my first color correction. And I have to click on source settings and again click on reload from rmd for each clip.
I assume that Premiere is reading the first color correction from a cache file or something like that.
How can I reload all clips with the new fine tuned rmd's ? Any ideas..
I was expecting this situation to be solved with CS6 but still continues..

I have no idea why Adobe continues to ignore this issue. You would think at least in the CC version of Premiere, there would be a function that would reload all the RMD's in your project. Very annoying. You can use a third party piece of standalone software, but Adobe really should take care of this in-house.

After Effects - Premiere Pro workflow question...

I have a basic question about workflow between AE and PP.
I'm editing an acting reel for a client which deals with a lot of different footage and bits and pieces here and there.
We already converted all the footage to DV-AVI - tweaking, color correction and effects are done in AE.
Here's the question that I'm thinking about:
Should I work on all my footage in AE first and then import it into PP for editing OR should I edit everything the way I wanna have it and then import it into AE for the tweaking.
Advantages for both options that come to my (newbie) mind:
AE first then PP
1. Final editing is done in PP which gives me flexibility if I wanna change things later editing wise
2. PP exporting options are huge - don't know if AE can compare to that
3. could import to PP via Dynamic link which saves me the hassle of exporting each little clip from AE to a lossless format - as mentioned we have lot's of different footage and little bits and pieces here and there
PP first the AE
1. if u apply a lot of effects, Dynamic link is a pain to scrub through the footage in PP because it takes so much time to render through the link - with exporting a final edited version from PP and then importing into AE would make things go a little bit smoother
2. I would have more flexiblity if I wanna change any effects in AE
What would u suggest ?

thanx again for your input.
Reading your posts - and PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong - it seems like the workflow would be:
1. PP for rough cut, then
2. AE for tweaking
3. back to PP for the final cut, export etc., since AE does not have the editing tools needed (transitions etc.)
But, as I did some testing the last two hours it is almost impossible getting PP projects into AE.
I read the manual and tried the following:
a. importing a PP project file into AE via the Import --> File dialog.
I specified only one PP sequence to be imported - it did import all of the footage of the PP project (including the footage that is not needed) and it imported 3 (not one) sequences, including the one I specified.
Besides that, the sequence is unusable - the in & out points of the footage are totally wrong - the transition I applied (dip-to-black) was unavailable.
I re-tried it without transitions but the in & out points of the footage are absolutely wrong.
The sequence deals with two different clips - both used 3 times in the sequence - and the first clip is okay in AE, but the second clip always (at all three points) starts from the start of the original footage.
b. I tried to copy & paste footage from the PP timeline to the AE timeline - which did not work.
As described in the manual, I did save that AE project and I did select the timeline in AE. I tried it through Edit --> Paste (which was unavailable), as well as through Ctrl+V. Did not work.
It seems to me like Dynamic Link is a One-Way-Street, it does work from AE to PP but not the other way around, at least not usable.
I had a thread about this a couple of weeks ago and other users experienced the same results.
I'm thinking about doing the rough cut in AE, the limited editing tools from AE should be okay...

Premier Pro Workflow question

I am wondering, from an industry standard point of view, what the reccomended workflow would be for the following situation (I know that each project brings its own special requirements, but I was hoping that some of you on the forum have worked with this type of project before, and can give some advice)
We are producing several, roughly 20 minute episodes of a childrens show. The episode has several scenes, and each scene is comprised of several shots. Our characters are hand operated miniature figures, and they are filmed against either a blue/green screen, or in miniature scale sets. The footage is first brought into Premier, where rough keying and compositing is done, to achieve each rough shot. These are then edited into their respective scenes. Once the rough editing is done, the project is handed over to Afer Effects, where the footage is replaced with the originals (As low res proxies are used in the edits), proper keying and compositing is done, and effects are added. This is then rendered as a DI, imported back into Premier as a video layer and then rendered out in the final delivery codec.
My question is as follows:
Is it better to create one project, with multiple sequences, one for each scene and then a sequence for the episode (Master sequence) - or is it more advisable to create several seperate premier projects, one per scene and then import these into a new master Episode project? I guess it might be a matter of "What you prefer", but I was wondering if there is a suggested industry standard as to how this is normally approached.

Thank you all for your input - it really is helpfull.
On the two topics my question created:
One VS Two Projects - We have decided to go for the approach of several projects per episode, each containing its own sequence of several shots. These will be dynamically linked back to AE for the duration of the work on that scene to make back and forth work better. Each project will be imported in a main episode project, and final edits will be done there. This will also help us, beacuse as mentioned, we have several people working on a project at the same time - we will be able to work easier accross mulitple PC's this way.
DI VS Dynamic link, or direct AE export - We do daily renders of our AE projects (there are a few reasons for this, one being the fact that our hardware is not up to scratch, so working woth 4K layers just doesnt work on the editing system) into proxy and intermediate codecs as Fuzzy stated. As a result, we have these files, and placing them into the premier timeline allows us to do any last minute edits quickly (transitions, small cuts etc) and then a much quicker final render to delivery codec. There are also other tracks added before the final render, sound layers being one fo them.
I am aware that there are always several ways to complete any project, and workflows are fluid things, able to change as needed, but for now, this seems to be the one that suits us best.
