Problem adding DataView in SharePoint 2013
Hello everyone, i have one problem, so please help me... :(
I have created site collection in SharePoint 2013 with one subsite. I have created a list in parent site (site collection) and when i am adding Empty Data View (with SharePoint Designer 2013) i can not see the list in Data Sources???? What am I doing wrong?
Tnx,
Eli
Hi Eli,
Here are the steps I performed when add dataview in SharePoint Designer 2013 for your reference(I assume you have create a list named list1 and document library named doclib):
Open SharePoint Designer > Open sites > enter site collection:
http://sp/sites/sitecollectionname
Expand All Files > locate doclib, right-click it > New ASPX > Rename it as test
Double-click test > Edit file > click yes to open in advanced mode
Insert tab > DataView > Empty DataView
Locate <DataSources> </DataSources> part and insert tab > Data Source. Then you could choose your list.
Then you could choose the fields you would like to add in the Data Source Details panel in the right.

To show ECB in dataview webpart Sharepoint 2013
HI
I have to add ECB to my dataview webpart. Normally it was not feasible in 2010 but is it possible now in 2013.
Can we add the ECB or it remains same
ThanksHi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to show ECB in dataview webpart Sharepoint 2013.
If you want to enable ECB menu on a column in dataview webpart, you need to open the SharePoint Designer 2013, select the web part, under
<View> locate <ViewFields> and then the
<FieldRef Name=”Title”> or the field where you want to enable the ECB menu and then add the attribute
ListItemMenu=”TRUE”.
Here is a similar blog for you to take a look at:

Problem with VS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Solution
Hello everyone
I've got a problem that's driving me crazy. I'm migrating a Sharepoint 2010/Visual Studio 2010 Solution to Sharepoint 2013/visual Studio 2012 with the developer tools.
My solution consists of 3 class libraries (common, data access layer and business logic) and a Sharepoint 2013 project containing the features, and the webparts using the output of the class libraries. The references inside projects are set through "Add
Reference -> Solution -> Projects". I want a wsp-file containing the sharepoint artifacts and the assemblies from my class libraries. (those are added through the package explorer -> Advanced). If i use Build/Rebuild on the Solution it compiles fine,
as it should.
If i use the "deploy" or "publish" command on visual studio to create a solution package, the build fails with the message:
"The type or namespace name 'whatever' does not exist in the namespace 'Xyz.Project'' (are you missing an assembly reference?)
I can't find out what's wrong. if i deploy anything manually everything works fine. building/rebuilding my whole solution works fine. Everything is set to .NET 4.5. It seems to be that "wsp-package"-building process that has a problem.
Any hint/idea would be welcome.
Greetings
CarlosTo fix this, simply remove the reference to your "common" code library and re-add it as an assembly reference (as opposed to a project reference). I.e. Select 'Add reference...' and then browse to
the 'bin' folder of your "common" library.
I did in fact consider that. But it can hardly considered good style and you lose a lot of benefits. The biggest of all being that you can never be sure you are working with latest versions of your common class libraries.
While unloading/reloading worked in VS 2012 things are worse in VS 2013. In VS 2013 the solution doesn't package anymore at all. No matter what you do. Cleaning, rebuilding, reloading... I tried all of that in vain.
Edit: And while I'm at it... great job in marking a totally irrelevant posting as answer. Another trigger happy content moderator. I really wonder if their financial goals are tied to the number of postings they mark as answered.
Solution: See here: http://ddkonline.blogspot.de/2013/10/build-and-packagepublish-behaviour.html
The key thing is - your common project assemblies need to be added in a particular order (in the order your assemblies need to be built) -
Hi
I've been encountering the problem of Office files failing to open from SharePoint 2013 libraries with the prefix of 'ms-excel:ofv|u|' etc. in the url. Following the
helpful questions and answers in the forum, I've identified the likely cause as the fact that my main Office installation is 2010, but I also have installed OneDrive for Business 2013 (which I need in order to sync document libraries with my local drive).
The solution I've seen suggested elsewhere of deactivating the SharePoint integration of Office 2013 components fails for two reasons: there is no way (or at least, I can't find one) of deactivating SharePoint integration probably because, deactivating
SharePoint integration would likely stop the syncing of libraries/folders.
One thing that I have noticed in my case that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere is that if I right-click a document and select 'open in new tab/window' the required
document opens directly in the relevant office package. I don't know if this is a useful observation, but it seems to be new information.
My question is, is there a way I can continue to sync libraries and open Office documents directly in Office 2010? My thoughts are possible changes to registry settings
(which I can do, but don't know enough to find the correct ones myself) or (re)installation of software in some appropriate order to leave the correct settings.
I have 'repaired' my Office 2010 installation without any observed affect on behavior.
Thanks
Ray
(I've just seen a suggestion that Office 2010 SP2 may fix this issue. I've requested to test this, but whilst this may fix my problem, rolling it out to
other users may be more problematic. In the meantime, other suggestions of solutions are welcome)Hi,
According to your description, it is a good way to do a test about office 2010 SP2, here is an article about this issue- limitations of using the OneDrive for Business sync app with Office 2010 applications , it may help you.

Problem with users accessing sharepoint 2013 site collection
I have an unbeliveable problem..
I have a sp site with several site collections..
I have around 15 users.. Everybody have access to the root site. Two users do not have access to site collections even though they are in EXACTLY same permission groups like other users who can access those site collections!
I tried to delete them from all user groups in SP, then delete their user profiles in Central Administration, and delete them from Active Directory. After that I recreated their profiles in Active directory, readded them to Central Administration, and again
added them to coresponding groups in SharePoint site collections. They again CAN NOT ACCESS site collections.
What should I do.. This is incredible that 5 users with the same user privileges can access site collections, and 2 can not, even though they are all created in the same way..
Regards,
SrdjanHello,
Have you found a solution for this problem? I have the exact same problem with 2 users accessing a site collection (access denied). I found also this row on uls log:

Adding a 2nd SharePoint 2013 Farm to the domain
hello.
in my production domain environment i have a SharePoint farm consisting on a single SQL server and a SharePoint server, sadly this has a few underlying issues, so in isolation i have built a new FARM and now want to migrate it into the production domain,
but i still want the other FARM operational for now so users can continue to use it.
i need to configure some exchange integration, external web access and HTTPS for the new environment i just want to check that the farms wont interact with each other and its safe to do this?
the only issue i can see is that central admin has the same web URL on both farms, would it be best to change the URL via AAM on the new environment so not to cause a conflict?
many thanks
Gordonthank you
also the servers are an early version of the production system (originally built on a server with VM workstation and migrated to ESXI host thus they were left over in a functional state) i am using these because its significantly faster than building a whole
new farm from scratch, i have transferred the WSS_Content DB to it, its all work now but sadly share the same names and ip's as the production system.
how can i change the server names and IP's on the new systems so not to break SharePoint.
many thanks

Status of DataView Web Part in SharePoint 2013
I hope this is a simple question but I'm stumped. What is the status of the DataView Web Part in SharePoint 2013? I am working on a migration of our site from SP 2010 to SP 2013. We previously had a DataView Web Part which is used widely on our site. It
is not showing up and the error is "Type type could not be found or it is not registered as safe." When I try to add a new copy of this web part, I get the message "The type Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.DataViewWebPart....PublicKeyToen=71e9bce111e9429c"
could not be found or it is not registered as safe.
I'm not the Farm Admin is this case, so my question is whether the web.config needs to be edited to make this usable, or something else perhaps. Or am I simply out of luck using this in SharePoint 2013.
Any help is appreciated!I suspect you will need to compare the web.config files on the new 2013 system to the ones on the old 2010 system and evaluate the differences. The safecontrol entry is in my default 2013 environment. If its not in yours it will need to be added.
For any web part to work you need three things:
A safe control entry in the web.config
A .dll that contains the code that generates the html displayed when the web part is rendered.
A .dwp or .webpart file in the web part gallery that contains info about what class and .dll to use
#3 should be in the content database you are migrating. YOu'll need to verify that #1 & #2 exist.

New 2013 setup. I created 1 test site. I'm able to load the site, but If the user clicks on 'Follow', 'Skydrive', or 'Newsfeeds', the user is taken to the personal page that reads:
We're almost ready!
While we set things up, feel free to changeyour
photo, adjustyour
personal settings, and fill
ininformation about yourself.
It could take us a while, but once we're done, here's what you'll get:
Newsfeedis your social hub where you'll see updates from the people, documents, sites, and tags you're following, with quick access to the apps you've added.
SkyDrive Prois your personal hard drive in the cloud, the place you can store, share, and sync your work files.
Sitesgives you easy access to the places you'll want to go.
There seems to be some sort of user init that never completes.
In the log files taken from "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions" I found the following related to an attempt

Any thoughts on this? troubleshooting tips?In my case, here is what happened and how I fixed it.
Situation:
Mysite is a new web application. We have two one-way trusts in place since the domain of the farm is different than the two other domains where users reside. So I ran the
STSADM.exe -o setproperty -pn peoplepicker-searchadforests -pv "Forest1,Domain1\account,password;
Forest2,Domain2\account,password"
-url https://mysitesURL
This allowed the user policy of the new Mysites web application to search through the two domains where AD users reside. Once I added them I was good, no more errors.
One thing to note, I have two web apps using the same wildcard cert and running off port 443 SSL.
I wanted to make the user picture come from AD so I changed that user property (Picture) in User Profile Service options, and this seems to have broken initial MySite creation, but once the user adds a picture
to their profile settings, the site starts working. I need to remove the property I added for "Picture" in user profile properties.
This is the process I took that caused my problem:

Adding a Left Navigation in the place of Current navigation in SharePoint 2013 Site.
Hi All,
I have successfully converted an HTML Page to a SharePoint 2013 Master Page. I also created a Custom Page Layout. Using both them I have created my SharePoint Site with 30+ pages. Each page is consisted with the Top Header Navigation as it is inheriting
from the Master Page I have used. Now I need the left navigation inherit from the master page also. It gives me the advantage of updating it from the master page and affects it through the entire SharePoint Site.
But at the moment I am inserting the Left Nav using a web part as an HTMl code snippet individually for each and every page. If needs a modification I have to go through all the pages and do the modification. This is not convenient also. I want to this left
nav like the SharePoint Current Navigation alternative but within my Page Layout.
Is there an option to chat within these forums?
Could someone help me to solve this problem?
Thanks and regards,
ChiranthakaHi Chiranthaka,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Since
this forum is to discuss: Visual
Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor.
Based on your issue,
it is more related to the sharepoint, so I’m afraid that
it is not the correct forum for this issue.
In addition, I find that you have been posted this issue in this SharePoint forum:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7e3af32b-2bf8-41f5-9420-9265ed64458c/adding-a-left-navigation-in-the-place-of-current-navigation-in-sharepoint-2013-site?forum=sharepointgeneral ,
so we will merge this case to the above case, I think that the SharePoint expert will follow up your issue.
Thanks for your understanding.

Hi,
We have a problem using Sharepoint 2013 explorer view. (Error - We're having a problem opening this location in file explorer. Add this web site to your trusted sites list and try again).
I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit, Office 2007 32 bit and IE9 32 bit. And the sharepoint site is a https site.
Some people in my organization are able to browse and some users getting the above error. (with the same client machine configuration)
If I clear my browser cache, closes the browser and open it then the explorer view is working. But after a minute if I try again I'm getting the above mentioned error. This 1 minute expiration happens is since the first time I have used explorer
view, not since I opened the browser.
I have tried the following on my machine:
1. Modified the web client service to run automatically.
2. Verified the sharepoint site is part of trusted sites (https://*.spsite.com/)
3. Compatibility mode is turned on.
4. Tried adding
AuthForwardServerList in the webclient registry settings under parameters. (restarted the web client)
5. Verified the BasicAuthLevel set to 1 (since we are using SSL). Tried setting the BasicAuthLevel to 2 as well. (restarted the web client)
6. Tried installing software update for web folders (KB907306).
Verified the below on the production server:
1. The web application has the root site collection.
2. It has WebDav Publishing disabled under IIS Web Server feature.
Could some one please help me in resolving this issue?
Thanks.Hi Deepak,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to use "Open with Explorer" in a document library.
For your issue, please verify the following:
ActiveX controls must be enabled in IE.
As you are using Windows 7 Server as the client computer, you must install the Desktop Experience feature from Server Manager.
Make sure there is a working Root site collection.
Install this hotfix for windows 7 work with sharepoint 2013 :hotfixv4.microsoft.com/.../463266_intl_x64_zip.exe

Hi All,
I'm working on what appears to be a permissions issue with SSRS in a multi-tenented SharePoint 2013 environment.
As part of my troubleshooting I've ignored the multitenented web application for the time being and stood up a dedicated web application with it's own host header called reporting.<domain>.local. I've created a site collection and added a Doc Library
called Reporting.. And then the content types, made sure the features are up and everything tests ok. I mention this because it's not that I can't get this working.. I can't get this working in a Web Application configured for multi-tenancy running Host Named
Site Collections.
When I try redoing the above on a Tenant site I get the following:
Sorry, something went wrong The permissions granted to user '<domain>\bprice' are insufficient for performing this operation. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user '<DOMAIN>\bprice'
are insufficient for performing this operation.
Correlation ID: 7f23ef9c-4b6a-7007-7e6f-0b32c731f7ed
The problem here is that my account is a sysadmin in SQL, a local admin on all servers, a domain admin in AD and finally a Farm Admin in SharePoint. Access denied on my account is crazy. So it's unlikely to be perms in the traditional sence, more likely a denial
by implication (as though I have not been granted access to something)
When filtering the ULS Logs for that correlation ID I see the following log entries:
WcfReceiveRequest: LocalAddress: 'http://homsssrs001. <domain>.local:32843/04560e49d2664b64bc12d9ce7bc9f885/ReportingWebService.svc' Channel: 'System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel' Action: 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2011/06/01/ReportServer/Management/GetDataSourceContents'

Call to GetDataSourceContentsAction(https://shared.<domain>.local/sites/bf/Reporting/terst1.rsds).
The current site is not in the SiteSubscription of the context site. SiteSubscriptionId: for current site = 96a49a95-8256-4585-9627-98206351efe3, for context site =
Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user '<DOMAIN>\bprice' are insufficient for performing this operation.;
A quick google on what I consider the most important of the above log errors (#5 mentioning Sitesubscription of the context site) returns:
http://thesharepointfarm.com/2014/10/reporting-services-feature-pack/
We aren't using feature packs at the moment. As far as I understand it all features are available to all subscriptions.
Has anyone seen this issue? Can anyone point in the correct direction? There must be a config that's specific to SSRS and Multi-tenancy that I've overlooked but I genuinely can't get to the bottom of this.
Kind Regards & Many Thanks
BrettMorning Trevor, please find attached - if you can, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Brett

Sharepoint 2013 and ADFS 3.0 Multi-Tenancy Problems
Hi
I am hoping someone might be able to help with my scenario.
Architectural Overview:
We have a 3-Tier Sharepoint 2013 deployed. In this infrastructure we have the following Servers (1x ADFS server, 1x TMG Proxy for External Access, 2x Web Front-End servers, 1x Application Server, 2x SQL Servers with P2P replication
On sharepoint we have a multi-tenant setup based on HSNC i.e. with AD integration on domain example.com. We also integrate with a 3rd Party myexample.com which we have ADFS connected to
site1.example.com
site2.exmaple.com
For both of the sites we have configured the required application and run as per requirements of ADFS 3.0.
ADFSserver -> server1.example.com
DefaultRealm -> urn:sharepoint:site
site1.example.com -> "https://site1.example.com/_trust/", urn:sharepoint:site1
with default login page specified /_trust/default.aspx
site2.example.com -> "https://site2.example.com/_trust/", urn:sharepoint:site2
with default login page specified /_trust/default.aspx
On ADFS 3.0 we have realm trusts corresponding to this i.e.
Trust 1:
identifier -> "https://site1.example.com/_trust/" , urn:sharepoint:site1
Endpoint -> "https://site1.example.com/_trust/Pages/Default.aspx
Trust 2:
identifier -> "https://site2.example.com/_trust/", urn:sharepoint:site2
Endpoint -> "https://site2.example.com/_trust/Pages/Default.aspx, urn:sharepoint:site2
The Problem:
When accessing the sites from the client browser to test (using Chrome Incognito mode so cookies terminates at close of browser session), I get weird stuff happening on ADFS and Sharepoint. I try site1.example.com and it fails stating that urn:sharepoint:site1
is not a recognised realm. When looking at the URL request sent to ADFS I can see irrespective of urn set on sharepoint to differentiate, it sends the default urn of urn:sharepoint:site which is not part of the Relay Party Trust in ADFS for site1 or site2.
This causes the SAML authentication to fail. When I add the default Realm to one of the Trusts then it works fine but then It is not a true multi-tenant environment as requests for both sites gets redirected to a single ADFS endpointDid you set the ProviderRealms on the Trusted Identity Token Issuer?

Sharepoint 2013 adding ECT fails with "Access Denied by Business Connectivity Service"
Using SharePoint Designer 2013 I am attempting to setup an External Content Type to a SQL DB. I have setup the SQL database with a valid login that was also used to setup an account with the Secure Store Service. I am running SharePoint 2013 designer and
have opened my site with administrative credentials. No matter what, I continue to get the "access denied" message when I try to add this SQL database to my ECT section in SPD. All users have access to invoke the BCS app.
I have deleted and recreated the BCS service application and it is running with farm credentials and temporarily I added the farm account to the local admin account....and again verified that all users have rights to run BCS...
In all other aspects my SharePoint sites are working, I can modify and add via SPD and publish...etc...but I cannot add a connection to an external SQL server. I have also verified through Excel that I can connect to my SQL DB with the same credentials that
I am trying in SharePoint and everything works.
Most of the posts I see in this area relate to permissions or access problems AFTER the ECT connection is created. My problem is I can't even get a connection created. Here are the error logs that are generated when I try to connect....maybe this will help someone tell me where to correct the issue.....(I removed the actual domain names) but my account was listed which is an admin on the sharepoint system and domain.

SharePoint 2013 User Profile Synchronization service problem
After one week trying (three clean installs of SharePoint 2013), I haven't succeed to start "User Profile Synchronization service".
Environment:
Domain environment with two Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controllers.
Fully qualified domain name matches NetBIOS name (domain.com - DOMAIN)
Two tiers: SQL Server 2014 enterprise on Windows Server 2012 R2, and SharePoint 2013 SP1 on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I'm using named SQL instance for SharePoint (<SQLSRV>\<SHAREPOINT>), and SQL alias on SharePoint app server.
All SharePoint prerequisites are installed successfully.
SharePoint 2013 is installed successfully.
Hotfix 2760265 is installed (before configuring SharePoint)
SharePoint is configured successfully
Preparing MySites host:
MySites web application is created with separate AppPool, and with address https://my.domain.com.
Certificate used is wild-card cert (*.domain.com), issued by trusted local PKI
Managed path "personal" is created
Site collection of type "My Sites Host" is created at root path
"Self-Service Site Creation" is enabled for https://my.domain.com web application
Farm account permissions:
Local admin at SharePoint application server
"Log on locally" at SharePoint application server
"Replicate Directory Changes" at domain level
I've even tried with adding farm account into domain admins group :)
After trying to to start user profile synchronization service, service is in "starting" state about 5-10 min, and then returns to "stopped" state.
ULS log shows the following exceptions:
ILM Configuration: Error 'ERR_CONFIG_DB'
UserProfileApplication.SynchronizeMIIS: Failed to configure MIIS post database, will attempt during next return. Exception: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: ERR_CONFIG_DB
UserProfileApplication.SynchronizeMIIS: Failed to configure MIIS post database, will attempt during next return. Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Event viewer log:
Event ID 6398, The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID <guid>) threw an exception. Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.BulkLMTUpdate: Region not found..
some perfnet event id 2004 errors
Troubleshooting:
I've tried with clearing configuration cache
Assigning farm account to domain admins group
Installing form scratch three times, and thousand times from different checkpoints...
I've saw 'ERR_CONFIG_DB' like million times, but never "Started" next to "User Profile Synchronization service". Does anyone has actually succeeded to start this service? :)
I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!
P.S. I can't stop asking myself is it was really necessary to develop such complex, problematic, and log-tells-nothing software just for getting user info from AD? Honestly, after more then decade experience as software developer and software architect -
I must say I doubt...

Excel Data Connection problem for posting Excel on SharePoint 2013
Hi there,
I tried to post an Excel file to a SharePoint 2013 site. The file has a column with VLOOKUP formula to look for data from another Excel file posted on the same site. However, once I open the file, it'll show the following message:
"We can't connect to '[link to file on onedrive/sharepoint]'. Please make sure you're using the correct
web address"
I don't recognize the website on this error message and there is no data linked to it. If I click OK, it'll show the following error message:
"Microsoft Excel cannot access the file '[link to file on onedrive/sharepoint]'. There are several possible reasons:
- The file name or path does not exist
- The file is being used by another program
- The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook"
I tried to create another Library and post the file but it still shows me the same error message. I urgently need to fix this error as the file is viewed by several directors. Can someone help??? Thanks a lot!!Currently, when a workbook that contains a Data Model is published to a library in Office 365, data refresh is unavailable.
However, you can use a PowerShell script to configure a workaround.
donwload this white paper for workaround:
