Problem Ejecting disks with iTunes 7.7

The latest version of iTunes gives me a disk in use by another application error when I try to eject it, even if iTunes is the only program open. If I quit iTunes, the problem goes away. I get this error whether I try to click the eject icon internally to iTunes or I use the eject button on the keyboard. Never had a problem before 7.7.

Apparently iTunes 7.7.1 has been released to resolve this.

    Hi,
Can you give more details? Are the tracks in your iTunes library. What is the source of the music? What is the iCloud status of the tracks.

  • Cant open back up disk with itune on it

Recently while out of town my computer crashed and my wife took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to try and reboot. They backed up the hard drive and told her to reinstall the operating system using the restore disks. After she finished reinstalling the operating system all the back up disks worked fine except the one containing all our itunes music. We took the disk back to the Geek Squad and they can open and view all the files on there computer. They said that it was probably something to do with the licensing on the itunes files. They recommended buying a $50.00 program that removes the licensing or look on the itunes web site to find out a way to do it for free. The itunes support page as far as I can tell is a laberanth of discussion board allowing users to help other users. So if anybody can help please do.

The copy protection on any tracks purchased from the iTunes Store would have absolutely no effect on opening up any disk on which those tracks were backed up. If the disk won't even open on your system, then the problem is in the backup or in the optical drive in your system.
They recommended buying a $50.00 program that removes the licensing
No such program exists, and even if it did, it wouldn't apply to this problem.
You really need to go back to the geeks and get them to help you. If you can't even view the contents of the disk, then the problem has nothing to do with iTunes. If they can open the disk on their system, first get them to show you can it will, and then get them to burn the tracks to another disk, confirming that it's a disk that your system can read (check your system's specs to make sure you know what formats your drive can accept). Or take the system back to them and have them figure out why the disk won't even load.
    Good luck.

  • IPhone 4 restarting problems when syncing with iTunes

I know been done before, just to clarify some things is that though some answers are correct to a percentage.
First one needs to try another USB and another PC or Mac for clarifying that its not a problem with the iPhone itself. I found this out when I had this problem and well I tried another USB port and working fine now.
Disabling USB ports through device manager can get results - however you may be adding additional problems - the problem is associated to the hardware of the computer (mac or pc) and this is either software related with drivers or hardware related and the USB port is stuffed - connecting any device to this port can result in failure of that device. Identifying the USB port is at fault can help you in many ways to overcome other hardware faults on your computer - seriously this isnt just about the iPhone but more to the point saving your computer from damages.
Due to many viruses and software codes - identifying if the problem is hardware or software based can be tricky, even with aid of programing benchmark programs, the only real way to know if it is hardware and not software is that doing a complete reformat - really this is the quickest and most surest way of clarifiication - you can spend days on end trying to identify where the fault is through programs and stuff and really you may not get anywhere - so reformating the computer and complete reinstall will determine if it is a hardware fault - now if it is hardware fault then it can either be the port itself, the motherboard or the power supply going to that port - so best be sure to back up everything and safegaurd all your hardware componants inside the computer as if it is a motherboard or power supply you really down want all your hardware becomming faulty due to surges or even meltdown.
Now if the iPhone is going faulty on other USB ports of other computer systems then you really need to contact your supplier if under warrenty or have it repaired - unless you personally know how to repair them. I have read a few threads here and they are archieved so really no one that I know of has covered this answer I am applying now. so if there is a failure to syncing through iPhone turning off and on then really cheack out the computer and iPhone (iPhone on other USB ports and other computers) and protect your data.

I have similar problem. Played podcasts becomes UNPLAYED after synch with iTune.

  • Problem installing apps with iTunes!

    Hello!
I have a big problem.I can't install apps using iTunes, because it shows me a message saying that the computer isn't authorized. But it is.Even after authorizing again,it shows the message again. If i install apps with appstore on my iphone, they work but as soon as i sync it with itunes the aplications stop working,i'm guessing because they aren't authorized.I tried everything, restoring my iphone, reseting it,uninstalling all my apple software and nothing. What should I do?

    Try these steps:
The following steps will recreate the SC Info folder if it is unusable.
    Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    1. Open Computer from the Start menu.
    2. From the Organize menu, choose Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders," make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed:
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes
    7. Right-click the SC Info folder shown and on the shortcut menu, choose Delete.
    8. Restart the computer.

  • Weird problem when syncing with iTunes

Something strange is happening today while trying to charge/sync my 3G with iTunes.
About halfway through the sync a box comes up saying "processing 20090705 184634 2.mp4"...when that comes up it basically locks up iTunes and I have to shut the program down. It's done this the last 3 or 4 times I've tried to sync...even after total system reboots. Any idea what is causing this/

I had done all of that to no avail.  I did call Apple Tech Support and after he suggested I try a USB port in the rear of the Win 7 computer, things starting working again.  I had tried switching the USB port at the front of the machine but that had not helped.  Everything is good to go again.  thanks for  your reply

  • Infinite problem "restore ipod with itunes"

I have the newest gen 160gb ipod and "sometimes" when I plug the cable the ipod reset itself, like there is no longer mp3. After a blank screen, I restart the ipod and I have to restore with itunes...I've changed the pc, cable...Still the same situation...
I send the ipod to local assistence and they say that it's all ok.
I've this ipod by two weeks and I've restore the ipod like 30 times...
    Any solutions?
    Thanks

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
So, are you repeatedly being asked to restore your iPod by iTunes similar to that described in this Apple support document?
[iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1456?viewlocale=en_US]
If the same message keeps appearing, you may have to reassign your iPod's drive letter. You can find instructions on how to do this in this Apple support document.

    Hope this helps.

  • Problems managing ipod with itunes

I can no longer exchange music from my ipod or my music server with itunes.  I used to be able to.  Now itunes just freezes up:  task manager says "not responding" and I have to shut down.

    Hello bertoydvm,
It sounds like your iTunes application is becoming unresponsive when it tries accessing the library on your server. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you out there, named:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Problem using ipod with itunes 5.0.1

Could anyone help me?? I'm having serious problems using my ipod mini with my "just downloaded" itunes 5.0.1.
it says that my comunication software with ipod is not correctly installed and that i have to reinstall itunes again. i did it the problem is always there. what can i do?? can someone help me??

Man, it seems that iTunes 5.whatever has gotten us all a little hot under the collar. I'm back up and running...this is what I did...I hope it helps some of you out.
    1) created a new folder in MyMusic and copied everything from my iTunes library to the new folder. I then tested a few songs to make sure they still played (you never know)
    2) I deleted iTunes using the control panel selection Add/Delete programs. I emptied the recycle gin and then did a search to see that iTunes was no longer there.
    3) I went to filehippo.com to download iTunes 4.8 (my original disks are packed (Thank you to poster Allison for the filehippo.com suggestion).
    4) I copied all my songs back into iTunes from where I had stored them in the new folder I created in MyMusic)
    5) I connected the iPod Mini and opened iTunes and darn if it STILL didn't recognize the iPod
    6) I did a restore on the iPod
    7) I reconnected the iPod and had to reregister it and Voila! it worked again!!!!
Whatever the new features were in ver. 5.01, they were NOT worth the hassle I've experienced over the past two weeks. I'll stick with version 4.8 for awhile.

  • Two computers accessing one external disk with iTunes ?

I have my iTunes music files located on an external firewire disk connected to my iMac.
Can I set up access from a Windows based laptop so that I have in fact two computers accessing the same set of music files?
If so, when I add music from either the Windows laptop or iMac will the other computer 'see' the files or must I do something first?

I have Time Machine set up with both an iMac and my MacBook using the same drive. But unlike what Canada Steve is doing I've set the MacBook to look at the hard disk as a network volume so backups can be done at the same time and restoring can be done wirelessly.

  • Problems sharing podcast with iTunes

I'm a teacher and my students all created podcasts on different laptops. I'm trying to share them to iTunes so that I can create a DVD with all of them, but I'm running into problems. Some of them share just fine, but a couple of them share all the audio tracks, but the images don't come up in iTunes. I've tried saving them different ways and comparing ones that share with images to those that don't and I'm going crazy! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do or why this is happening!?!

Are they being shared in AAC format?

  • Zip code Problem (or Frustrated with iTunes "Support")

I have been having a new problem (with an old credit card) on iTunes, where I get the repetitive error that the zip code I've entered does not match the one the bank has for the card.  I have ensured that the zip code is correct and checked the bank zip code to make sure that that was done.  I have made many, many iTunes purchases with this card, and not had a problem with the zip code previously, and I have not moved or changed the zip code since the last time I tried to make an iTunes purchase.  It's not like the zip code would change itself.  But I checked to make sure, anyway.  I also contacted my bank to ensure there wasn't a hold on that particular card.
This I did before I contacted itunes support.  An email to iTunes support explaining the above and specifically stating that the zip code in itunes for that card is correct, and 2 days later, I get a reply instructing me on how to change the zip code for the card in iTunes.  I wonder if Apple has any idea how condescending that comes across.  Who would waste their time with tech support for an error like that if their zip code was incorrect?
Now, I've recieved 2 more emails on the same track, basically telling me to fix the zip code.  I am 100% sure that the zip code in iTunes is correct.  I tried to tell the tech "support" person (Johan) this, but he has essentially only told me repeatedly how to fix the zip code on iTunes.  (Again, Apple, if you're reading this, that is really rude and condescending, assuming your users are THAT stupid).
Has anybody ever had this error before, and does anybody have a fix for it?
    Thank you,
    Katy

I get the repetitive error that the zip code I've entered does not match the one the bank has for the card
Since you are seeing the same dialog repeatedly, try this.
    Launch iTunes on your Mac.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK
Restart your Mac, launch iTunes. See if you can download a free app. Regardless of whether or not it's free or purchased, you'll still see the login window.

  • Problem synching ipad with itunes

I have an ipad 3 and have started having a problem synching in itunes.  It refuses to merge contacts, calendar and notes but instead simple replaces the one on the ipad with the older version from itunes.  This is also happening on my iphone 5.  It has also deleted 2 of my calendars.  I still have these calendars on another iphone 4 but I am afraid to try to to back them up as I don't want to lose them permanently.
I have double checked that it is marked correctly in info.  It has synched correctly in the past.
My itunes is current as well as my IOS.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Problem downloading songs with itunes +?

I have purchased 2 songs with new itunes + but they won't download. Anyone else have this problem? And what can I do?
    Toshiba   Windows XP

I started converting the "old" versions at 8pm CDT last night and was not finished at 12. I had about 275 songs to do. All loaded but 61 Grand Funk songs. Someone tell me that Grand Funk is that popular? Many dashed out to a fast load, only to stop halfway through. I agree that Apple has a problem, and it probably is a large load on their servers--but Grand Funk does not load? Does not make sense unless that funk just rocks the servers too much. Someone fix the problem, as I have about 600 songs to go. Oh, I restated the download so many times and turned off firewalls --and suspended the anti-virus protection, etc, etc, etc.

  • Problems updating iPOD with iTunes.

My library has 4800 songs and iTune starts the update process normally. At some point through the process, the ststus bar will say "Ok to disconnect iPod" and nothing has been transfered. I also noticed that bottom of of the screen indicated the disk space used on the ipod, mine has a "locked" icon next to it. What does this mean?

The switch at the top, flick that so your iPods not on hold. Then read the manual you got with the iPod.
