Problem in passing parameters

i have used 4 parameters to take a report
like
empno=parameter1
sal=parameter2
mgr=parameter3
if i want to make a report that have empno=10
sal=2300 and mgr=230
them simply we used on the report with
select=======
where empno=:parameter1 and sal=:parameter2 and mgr=:parameter3;
The PROBLEM IS HERE THAT IF I WANT TO TAKE REPORT ONLY BY EMPNO THEN OTHERE TWO LEFT BLANK AND THE REPORT SHOWS NOTHING AND IF I USED "OR" OPERATOR INSTEAD OF "AND"
select=======
where empno=:parameter1 OR sal=:parameter2 OR mgr=:parameter3;
THEN IT GOT ALL THE EMPNO ,ALL SAL AND AL MGR
SO PLEASE SOLVE MY PROBLEM HOW CAN I DO THAT TO TAKE AS MUCH PERMATER AS I REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF REPORTING
IF U HAVE ANY QUERY OR SOLUTION THEN reply me or SEND ME ON THIS MAIL
[email protected]
thank you

hello,
there are two approaches :
1) re-phrase your query as follows
select ... where (empno = :p1 or :p1 is null) and (sal = :p2 or :p2 is null) ....
2) use lexicals for the whole where-clause
define a user parameter e.g. myWhereClause and assign the text of the where-clause you want to apply (including the where keyword).
re-phrase your query :
select ... &myWhereClause
this will enable you to have a changable where-clause at runtime ! you can change it in the after-parameterform-trigger and create a where-clause accroding to the passed parameters.

  • Problem in passing parameters between flow task in a dynamic region

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the passing of parameters between task flow when it is executed within a dynamic region. To implement this, I followed the Baranovskis Andrejus Blog "JDeveloper 11g and ADF Task Flow Parameters" and everything works perfect as the task flow are not invoked from a dynamic region. But if the same task flow are converted to fragment of pages and executed in a dynamic region, the filter in the task flow that is called does not work, it does not return any records.
    Any idea that I may be missing to make this work well?.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Frank.
    My case is the first, ie in a single dynamic region, a task flow call another passing parameters to filter data to display in the second, using a task flow call activitie. As I said in the message above, everything works well as both task flow to not become unbounded task flow with fragmet page.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Problem in passing parameters in command line in desktop

    Hi,
    I am trying to generate reports from command line (Oracle Discoverer 4i Version 4.1.42.04.00) but I am facing problems when I try to pass date or numeric parameters. It seems to work with strings
    The following command is successful when i pass string as parameters
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb load_report_1 /batch /sheet 2 /parameter "P Date" "31-JUL-2006 Month End" /export xls c:\Temp\load_report_!
    But in the following commands the command line execution stops when a worksheet with parameters is encountered. Once then parameter is entered the command line is executed successfully. In these problem cases it seems like the /parameter option is not being recognized. I have tried to pass parameters with double quotes, single quotes, without any quotes.
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb "load report 2" /sheet 3 /parameter "Select P Day" "20-JUN-2006" /batch /export xls c:\Temp\load_Report_2
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb "load report 3" /batch /sheet 1 /parameter "Enter Date Using Format YYYYMMDD" 20060703 /export xls c:\Temp\load_report_3
    The only difference I can see is that I have not used double quotes in the command line that is successful in generating reports with parameters.
    Any inputs will be appreciated - we are stuck in our project due to this issue. Many thanks.
    Warm regards
    Sucharita

    Hi
    I work in the same team as the original poster.
    We tried by changing NLS_DATE_FORMAT for the oracle_home.
    Just to clarify our issue I am describing it one more time below -
    Using Disc desktop (4.1.42) we are trying to run the reports using command line interface. Any report that takes character input for the parameters ,is running fine in the batch mode without prompting.
    Any report that takes Date/Numeric input for the parameters, though in batch mode, is prompting for user to give the parameters.We tried with quotes as well.
    For Example -
    1. Character input : when we run this command supplying the input parameter values (which are characters), report runs fine without prompting for values.
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect rep/rep@orals /opendb Schd_Report /batch /sheet 2 /parameter "Process Date" "31-JUL-2006 Month End" /export xls c:\audit_report_5
    2. Date Input -
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect rep/rep@orals /opendb "DLS.Arrears Reports" /batch /sheet 1 /parameter "Please Enter Date Using Format YYYYMMDD" 20060703 /export xls c:\CA_arr
    When we submit this we get a window prompting for the input values. So his is the issue.
    Thanks
    Raman

  • Crystal Report - problem with passing parameters from J2EE app

    i'm trying to pass a few parameters from my java application to a crystal report using the code below:
    ParameterField pfield1 = new ParameterField();
    ParameterField pfield2 = new ParameterField();
    Values vals1 = new Values();
    Values vals2 = new Values();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV1 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV2 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    pfieldDV1.setValue("1056");//dform.getSelectedPeriod());
    pfieldDV1.setDescription("termId");
    vals1.add(pfieldDV1);
    pfield1.setReportName("");
    pfield1.setName("@p_termId");
    pfield1.setCurrentValues(vals1);
    fields.add(pfield1);
    // check here for null condition otherwise will throw nullpointerexception
    pfieldDV2.setValue("elect");
    pfieldDV2.setDescription("allocType");
    vals2.add(pfieldDV2);
    pfield2.setReportName("");
    pfield2.setName("@p_allocType");
    pfield2.setCurrentValues(vals2);
    fields.add(pfield2);
    this report calls a stored procedure (sql server). the report displays the data but the same is not the case when i call ity from my java application. with a single parameter it works fine (even though i get a "Some parameters are missing values" ERROR on the console. But when i pass, say 2 parameters, it give me the above error first and then "JDBC Error: Parameter 2 not set or registered for output"
    Can anyone bail me out of this one?
    thanks,
    ptalkad

    I don't know about naming conventions, but could the @ signs in the variable names cause a problem?
    How have you set up the mapping in Crystal?
    Is this parameter 2 an "out" parameter returning a value?
    What version of Java are you using?
    Version of Crystal?
    What JDBC driver?

  • Problem in passing parameters in FBL1N

    Hi,
    I am having my own selection screen, the parameters of this selection screen are passed to a selection screen of standard transaction FBL1N. This transaction gets data from logical database.
    My problem is , when i pass my data to standard screen of FBL1N, & execute the program, it is not showing the same result as when the transaction is exectued with the same parameters.
    I have checked in debug mode, & the parameters which i pass to the transaction are passed correctly.
    Is it something related to logical database & i need to pass some data or activate the database through any parameter as in the FBL1N screen, this parameter has addition “NO DATABASE SELECTION”.
    Anyone who has faced such a issue pls. reply as to what should be done to handle such problem.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problems with passing parameters for WEB template in URL in NW2004s

    Servus,
    We have NW2004s, BI 7.0, SP9
    does anybody know where do I make a mistake? There are 9 variables which the user has to fill out.
    Passing the parameters in URL string for a web template like: http://server:50100/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?TEMPLATE=TEMPLATENAME&var_name_1=ZvarX&var_value_ext_1=2000 ....
    but this doesn't function, I get only the first variable screen and not what's set in my URL.
    Is it a bug? Any suggestions?
    Thank you very much
    Standa

    I solved it.
    Solution:
    URL Link "http://......./TEMPLATE=nameofthepage&TEMPLATE=nameofthepage

  • Problem with passing parameters from HTML

    Im unsure as to where to turn next with this problem. What is making it all the more infuriating is that I have had this code working previously and now cant for the life of me figure out how I did it.
    What Im trying to do is I have a HTML page with two buttons on, one called "Submit Application" and the other "Submit Resource" and when I click on one I want a JSP page to be called and a certain piece of SQL to be executed, likewise when I click on the other "Submit Application" button I want a separate bit of SQL to be executed. (I know in this example both bits of SQL are identical but that is just while I get the functionality correct).
    Whats happening is that the first bit of SQL will execute if I click the "Submit Resource" button, however when I click the "Submit Application"
    button I get a "Error 500:" displayed. Im at the end of my tether as to what to do next and as I say it makes it all the more infuriating in that I had it working before. So any help would be greatly appriciated.

    You make your comparisons like this:
    if (!Subapp.equals (null))
    Well, what happens if Subapp IS equal to null. The .equals method call will be called from a NULL and you will get a NullPointerException.
    When testing for null you do:
    if (Subapp == null) (or if (Subapp != null)
    This is okay when dealing objects even with the mantra of 'don't use == to compare objects, because what you are really testing is if the reference points anywhere, and == will compare the reference.
    Also, next time you post, make sure to use the [code] tags as described in the [Formatting Help] link. It will make it easier to read.
    Also, you should try to remove the SQL from the JSP. Move it into a Servlet which builds a List that forwards to another JSP for display, or use a bean. Using java classes like Servlets and JavaBeans makes it easier to debug, and makes your JSP code easier to manage.

  • Problem while passing parameters for dashboard prompts in URL

    Hi,
    We have created a dashboard on OBI which has some dashboard prompts. We have a requirement that we shall open the dashboard from an external application. We are doing this by invoking an URL. We want the dashboard to turn with prompts already being applied.
    I was trying to open the dashboard with the following URL
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Go&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
    But when I use the above Go URL the dashboard is not coming up. It shows the following error
         No Columns
         The request cannot be performed because it contains no columns.
    When I use the following URL(which has the keyword 'Dashboard' not 'Go') the Dashboard is coming up fine
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
    There are dashboard prompt defined in dashboard. When I try to send the filter value via URL(given below) it is not working. I just see the Dashboard coming up.
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=Supplier."Supplier%20Name"&P3=1+AccessMicron
    when we use the keyword Dashboard in the URL , can we pass the parameter for the dashboard proimpt ..? If we can do that .. how to do that ..? Is it the same manner that we do for Go URL. ..?
    Please let me know if you need any more information on this.
    Thanks in advance for your time,
    Raj Kumar

    Hi Raj,
    Raghu is correct, you need the Action=Navigate to make prompts work, otherwise you get move to the target dashboard without prompts.
    I think you figured it out your self, but the ?Go is for Answer Requests and ?Dashboard is for navigating to dashboards.
    I would also recommend using col1="COLUMN_NAME" and val1=value syntax instead of the P0,P1, etc, etc. It's a little easier to read and implement.
    Try this:
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&Action=Navigate&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&col1=%22Supplier%22.%22Supplier%20Name%22&val1=1+AccessMicron
    Good luck!
    Best regards,

  • OBIEE 11G - Issue passing parameters between two reports

    Hi folks,
    I am struggling to pass parameters between two reports in OBIEE 11G.
    My first report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type (VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
    My second report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type(VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Category(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
    My requirement is to pass the Rolling Year Type, Year and Month values from report 1 to report 2.
    On the Month column properties of report 1, I have created an Action Link called 'Drill to Category'. I have clicked on 'Navigate to BI Content' and selected Report 2.
    Then on Report 2, I have included three filters: Rolling Year Type is prompted, Year is prompted, Month is promted.
    When I run the report I always get the following error:
    The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters and/or selections that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Analysis Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below.
    When I check the cursor cache, the filter values are correct. Does anybody have any idea why Report 2 does not display?
    When I remove the Month filter, the report works correctly.
    I have since changed the third filter to be Month No and although Report 2 does display, it does not pick up the filter on the Month No.
    I initially thought this may have been a caching issue and so I have disabled BI Server Cache but this does not fix my problem.
    This was never an issue on OBIEE 10G as I found it very easy to navigate between two requests.
    Has anyone else experienced problems with passing parameters between two request in 11G?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gavin

    Hi,
    I once tried this kind of requirement(with dashboard prompts though) and hit at similar issue. I later found out that the problem is with the space in the parameter values. Can you please let me know, if the same is the case with you?
    Suppose the parameter passed is "Jan 2010", but the report on the destination takes the value as "Jan" & "2010". Yes, it kind of split the parameter value to two based on space. I think we can notice the filters the destination report got, by enabling filter view.
    In this case, since you pass only value at a time, could you try placing the parameter value anyway in double quotes? I think the Server then will understand it as one value.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • How to run and pass parameters to exe file from the .txt file

    hi,
     i am facing problem with passing parameters to the .exe file which is run by labview.firstly i have  .txt script with parameters which i have to pass to .exe file. This .exe file is also a software and that script is written for it.And now i have to create  programm in labview which should fullfill following points.
      1. I have to use one knob named 'Run script'.If i pressed the knob ,it should open the Browser where i can choose .txt script file.
      2. .exe application should open(Path already chossen).
      3. after passing the parameters .exe application should closed.
      4.And labview now should update his parameter
    I can just open .exe file using Exce.vi but i dont getting any idea to do more than this.can somebody please help me?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This depends on the exe file. Does it retrieve the information as standard input or does it require the information as command line arguments?
    Depending on this, you can read the txt-file in LV (using the file functions) and pass the content to the System Exec.vi.

  • Problem with passing date parameters in cursor

    Is there any problem in passing date parameters and like clause as below
    CURSOR eftcursor(start_date DATE, end_date DATE, where_clause varchar2) IS
    select * from r_records
    where created_date between start_date and end_date and description like where_clause;
    and in the open statement
    select to_date('01/06/2010 00:00:00', 'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss') into startDate from dual;
    select to_date('01/07/2010 00:00:00', 'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss') into endDate from dual;
    str := '%something%aaaaa%';
    open eftcursor(startDate ,endDate , str);
    Do i need to do any kind of conversion in the cursor where clause or when i am passing the parameter in open statement.

    Almora wrote:

    You might consider whether you really need an explicit cursor though. An implicit cursor is easier to code and performs better.

    Thanks in advance my friend.Probably not a bad thing that this isn't working for you.
    This is a horrible way to return the contents of a table.
    Are you doing this for educational purpose, or ... what is your goal here? If you just want to return a result set to a client you'd want to look in to using a REF CURSOR and not a bunch of arrays combined with horribly procedural (slow) code.

  • Passing parameters to Update page

    Hi,
    I created the search/create/update page going by the instructions in the tutorial exercise. My primary key is a combination of employee number AND sequence number.
    When I query the employee in the search page and if the employee has more than one record it displays all the records for that employee.
    When I click on the "update" button on one of the record, It is not displaying me the record on which I clicked the "update" button. Instead it is displaying me the other record for the same employee. I believe I need to pass the sequence value as the parameter, but do not know how to pass it. Can anyone one help me accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Al

    Hi,
    I created a new method(initQueryUpdate) in the VOImpl(here I am also setting the where clause).
    Also created a method(initDetailsUpdate) in the AMImpl and I am calling the vo.initQueryUpdate in AM code.
    I am also passing the parameters to method via a call in the ReviewupdateCO(am.invokeMethod("initDetailsUpdate", params);).
    It is compiling the entire jpr without any errors.
    When I Search an employee and clisk on the update button then I am geting the following error.
    I tried to pass parameters by putting them on the update button property with the action type of "fireAction.
    I also tried by making the actiontype "none" and putting the forwarding apge with parameters in the "Destination URL" property and still I get the error message when I run it. Any one has any clues.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ali
