Problem in sending XML input as String in BPEL
Hi,
We have a BPEL flow (assign, invoke, assign) which takes an XML input as String.
<RegisterCustomerOnVAS><CustomerID>100</CustomerID><MSISDN>9999999</MSISDN><CustomerName>sanjeev</CustomerName><customerInfo>new user</customerInfo></RegisterCustomerOnVAS>
Assignment is doing fine, but when Invoke calls partner link, the input is getting parsed and only the first text value (eg 100) is getting passed to the partner webservice instead of the entire XML as string.
Can any one please help us in fixing in this problem.
Thanks
Hi,
You should watch your assign activity (maybe a bad assigment level in copy rule). I think the probem is there.

Problems sending xml data as string to a web service
Hello!
I need to develop a client in order to invoke a web service. I have the WSDL of the web service, so I generate a web service proxy, from that WSDL, using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.
Among other things, that web service receive RPC request (binding style is RPC) and the request has only one parameter, which consists of a string. That string must be an XML document (that is, the web service receives one parameter which is a XML document as a String). I generate that parameter, and it looks like the following:
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
<inputMessage xmlns="http://ws/validacion" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.o
rg/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:SchemaLocation="http://localhost/ws/xsd/mservic/ws.xsd">
<request>ServiceRequest</request>
<versionMsg>1.0</versionMsg>
<data>AAAAAAAAAAAAAA</data>
</inputMessage>
However, when I send the request and capture it through HTTPAnalyzer, I get the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><soapenv:Body><MyWebService xmlns="http://soapinterop.org/"><myWebServiceRequest xsi:type="xsd:string" xmlns=""><?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>

</inputMessage></myWebServiceRequest></MyWebService></soapenv:Body></soapenv:Envelope>
As you can see, the symbol '<' y replaced with '<'.
Why does it happen? Is there a way of avoiding that?
Could anybody be so kind to help me, please?

Problem in sending a variable length string
Hello friends,
I have created a scenario as follows.
Our
Application ==>(SOAP) ==> XI ==> (RFC) ==> SAP TABLE.
I am sending a record with one of the fields of the type 'VARILRAW'
When I send this, it is sending me a response that it was inserted in the table succesfully, But when I try to retrieve, all fields get returned correctly, but not this variable length field. This sends me back a huge string of letter 'A's.
Here is what I see on SXMB_MONI
The following shows that for insertion, the proper data is coming in XML format.

HTTPService problems while sending a String Variable to Server
I have an xml in string form..... I want to send it as an http request to the server, which is written in .NET... server wud make its decession on the basis of this xml and wud return me another xml as http response..
Problem ---->
this request reaches server but when i look at the request reached at server it has my client infotmation but does not has my variable anywhere...... i iterate through all the parameters in Request.Params... but I don't find my string at all.... any idea why I can't find my sent variable ???
Actionscript code to send xmlString to .NET Server using HTTPService:
public function sendRequest(syncXmlString : String, httpResultHandler : Function) : void {
try {
var objectParam : Object = {name:PARAM_NAME, value:syncXmlString };
var params : Object = [objectParam];
var httpService : HTTPService = new HTTPService();
httpService.url = serverUrl;
httpService.method = HTTPRequestMessage.POST_METHOD;
httpService.contentType = HTTPService.CONTENT_TYPE_XML;
httpService.resultFormat = HTTPService.RESULT_FORMAT_XML;
httpService.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, httpResultHandler);
httpService.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT, httpFaultHandler);
httpService.send(params);
} catch (err : Error) {
Alert.show(err.message);
Thanks and Regards,
Ahmed.No, that is the problem, the request object should not be an indexed array[], it should be an Object{}. Remove that imtermediate array and pass objectParams in the send()
Also, don't mess with the contentType without very good reason.
httpService.contentType = HTTPService.CONTENT_TYPE_XML;
that says you are sending XML, but you are not, you are sending the default name=value pairs. Remove that assignment and leave it at the default "form"
One more, you do not want that resultFormat, it is the legacy AS2 class. You want E4X
httpService.resultFormat = RESULT_FORMAT_E4X;

Problem in transforming XML to string using XSLT
Hi there,
I have a R/3 -> XI -> WebService scenario where the message from XI to webservice needs to be sent in document/wrapped mode (the message xml must be embedded in a string element) and this message needs to be digitally signed.
We are using another webservice to sign the messages, also with the message being sent in a string. To transform the XML's into string and vice-versa, we are using XSLT (/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/01/xi-xml-node-into-a-string-with-graphical-mapping).
The problem is that both the signer and the final webservice understand the special characters (like '<', '>', '&', '"' etc) in one way but the XSLT generates them in another way. For example, the character '<', in both webservices, is returned as "<" but the XSL Transformation results in "<".
The problem now is that our messages are always being rejected because the signature is not being recognized as true, though we are almost 100% sure that it's being done correctly. The only possibility to the error that we found is this character mapping being done differently.
So, it's like this:
XI sends string to signer as "<"
XI receives string from signer as "<"
XI processes the message
XI sends string to webservice as "<"
XI receives string from webservice (containing error message) as "<"
Is there a way of making the XSLT to return "<" instead of "<"?
Thanks in advace,
Henrique.For Java Mapping, you can refer this-
/people/prasad.ulagappan2/blog/2005/06/29/java-mapping-part-i
/people/prasad.ulagappan2/blog/2005/06/29/java-mapping-part-ii
/people/prasad.ulagappan2/blog/2005/06/29/java-mapping-part-iii
In Java Mapping, in the startdocument event , you need to check for the specialchars, and just repalce the value required.
But, what i am thinking is , just try with Java functions inside the XSLT mapping instead of going for Java Mapping. You can call java functions from the XSLT. So before the document starts pasring, you need to replace the special characters. I did not try in XSLT like this.
For this , you can think with this e.g

Problem while sending unicode (utf-8) xml to IE.
Hi,
I have encoding problem while sending utf-8 xml from servlet to IE (Client), where i am parsing the xml using Ajax.
In the log I can see proper special characters that are being sent from the servlet. but when same is seen in the client end,, it is showing ? symbols instead of special charcters.
This is the code that sends the xml from servlet.
ByteArrayOutputStream stream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(2000);
transformer.transform(new DOMSource(document), new StreamResult(new OutputStreamWriter(stream, "iso-8859-1")));
_response.setContentType("text/xml; charset=UTF-8");
_response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
_response.getWriter().println(new String(stream.toByteArray(), "UTF-8"));
In the log i can see :
<response status="success" value="1154081722531" hasNextPage="false" hasPreviousPage="false" ><row row_id="PARTY_test_asdasd" column_0="PARTY_test_asdasd" column_1="asdasd " mode="edit" column_en_US="asdasd " column_de_DE="? xyz" column_fr_FR="" ></row></response>
But in the Client side I am able to see
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
<response status="success" value="1154082795061" hasNextPage="false" hasPreviousPage="false"><row row_id="PARTY_test_asdasd" column_0="PARTY_test_asdasd" column_1="asdasd ?" mode="edit" column_en_US="asdasd ?" column_de_DE="? xyz" column_fr_FR=""/></response>
I am getting ? instead of .
It will be greatful if somebody tell how to send utf xml from servlet, for ajax purpose.
Thanks,
Siva1This is the code that sends the xml from servlet.
ByteArrayOutputStream stream = new
ByteArrayOutputStream(2000);
transformer.transform(new DOMSource(document), new
StreamResult(new OutputStreamWriter(stream,
"iso-8859-1")));Here you produce XML that's encoded in ISO-8859-1. (!!!)
_response.setContentType("text/xml; charset=UTF-8");Here you tell the browser that it's encoded in UTF-8.
_response.getWriter().println(new String(stream.toByteArray(), "UTF-8"));Here you convert the XML to a String, assuming that it was encoded in UTF-8, which it wasn't.
Besides shooting yourself in the foot by choosing ISO-8859-1 for no good reason, you're also doing a lot of translating from bytes to chars and back again. Not only is that a waste of time, it introduces errors if you don't do it right. Try this instead:_response.setContentType("text/xml; charset=UTF-8");
_response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
_transformer.transform(new DOMSource(document_),
new StreamResult(_response.getOutputStream())); -
XML Input String too long to Test Web Service in App Server
We have a Web Service that accepts an XML input string but when we deploy this web service and try to test it through the Application Server it errors out because the input string is too long. Is there any way around this??
Thanks...Update:
Now I see that there are in fact two error messages. The second one is the one presented above. But the first one says:
Line: 145
Char: 97
Error: Expected ';'
Code: 0
My question now is to what file it is referring?? Is it to ProjectAccountingPort.js that is automatically created? THen why is it not properly created??
Please, please help me with this! The deadline is in a few days... -

I have a WLS 6.0 servlet that receives XML transactions via a post method.
Code snippet as follows:
public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
throws ServletException, IOException
int txContentLength = req.getContentLength();
//get entire input xml stream and store in a stringbuffer
InputStream inp = req.getInputStream();
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inp));
byte[] ba = new byte[txContentLength];
System.out.println("Reading...");
int bytesRead = inp.read(ba);
System.out.println("bytesRead= " + bytesRead);
while(bytesRead < txContentLength) {
int moreRead = inp.read(ba, bytesRead, (ba.length - bytesRead));
if(moreRead == -1)
break;
bytesRead += moreRead;
System.out.println("finished reading buffer...");
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(new String(ba));
I have a java client on my PC that takes an XML file as input and sends the
information to the servlet without any problems.
The problem is a client that is connecting to our network via a T1
connection. When they send transactions, about 1 out of every 4
transactions makes it past the "Reading..." statement above. The other
transactions appear to 'hang' when it hits the inp.read(ba) line above.
From all indications, that servlet's execute thread appears 'hung' as if the
inp.read() is waiting forever.
I've tried using readLine() on the InputStream() and my local client program
is unaffected - it works OK. The remote client is having problems using
either method. The only difference I've noted with the remote client is
that they are using HTTP 1.0 and I'm using HTTP 1.1. Initially, their
mime-type was null but they've changed it to text/xml and no luck. I've
even sent them my client code that is working and they are still having
problems...
Another strange anomoly is that req.getContentLength() is returning a valid
number on the transactions that fail. For example, I had some debug code
that showed the content length and it was always something like 4012 or
3500, etc. Not -1 as I would expect...
Has anyone run into this problem with receiving XML transactions?
Thanks
Rob Mason
Thanks for the suggestion - I went back and added a check on the
contentLength to make sure it had a valid number before trying to call any
'read' methods... still no luck.
I did go in and put a try/catch around the read() logic below. The
exception thrown is an InterruptedIOException. The docs say that this is
thrown 'to indicate that an input or output transfer has been terminated
because the thread performing it was terminated.'
This would seem to indicate that WLS is having the problem - not the client?
Via the console, under the Configuration section, my HTTP section has the
following values:
POST timeout secs: 10
Max POST time: 10
Max POST size: -1
Is there anything else I can try on the server level?
Thanks
Rob Mason

I am new to ActionScript 3 and have a project I would like to get some help on. I have an XML file on a server that has two types of parent nodes... an example is below:
<bodytypesuggestions>
<ID1>36</ID1>
<ID2>34</ID2>
<ID3>37</ID3>
</bodytype>
<bodytypes>
<ID1>34</ID1>
<ID2>32</ID2>
<ID3>35</ID3>
</bodytype>
The AS code below connects my flash to the URL:
import flash.net.*;
import flash.events.*;
var myXML:XMLList;
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("MYSERVER.COM");
var XMLLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(url);
XMLLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, GetRecommendations);
XMLLoader.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, updateAndGetRecommendations);
function GetSuggestions(event:Event):void {
if (XMLLoader.data) {
myXML = XMLList(XMLLoader.data);
var myDev:XMLList = new XMLList(XMLLoader.data)
var bodytypelist:XMLList = myDev..bodytypes
var bydytypesugglist:XMLList = myDev..bodytypesuggestions
trace(bodytypelist);
this["ID1"].text = bodytypelist.ID1;
this["ID1"].restrict = "0-9.";
this["ID1"].maxChars = 5;
this["ID2"].text = bodytypelist.ID2;
this["ID2"].restrict = "0-9.";
this["ID2"].maxChars = 5;
this["ID3"].text = bodytypelist.ID3;
this["ID3"].restrict = "0-9.";
this["ID3"].maxChars = 5;
Now in my flash file, I have 3 textInput fields that are populated with the above XML values from the bodytype child values.
My question is - how can I write a function that when a user changes a value in any one of the text fields, the data returned is from the bodytypesuggestions node value instantly, i.e. once a field value is changed, the other two will change accordingly. The actual XML on the server already handles those calculations. I hope this makes sense, I really need some help on this one.I am not 100% certain what you're asking for here...
I would tend to send XML rather than an XMLList string. I can't get the e4x filtering to work for an XMLList like that, which means (I assume) that you would need to iterate the list and using filtering on each XML object in the list. Perhaps I've missed something as you don't seem to be expressing a problem with loading the xml data and getting it into the textfields initially. I've not tried using the filtering on an XMLList directly before but could not get it working the way you have it. So in the following simulation I have wrapped the list in a top level tag to get it working the way I wanted.
Here is a non-loading simulation of what you seem to want. The difference here is that the GetSuggestions 'listener' is called manually with the data string rather than by the URLLoader's listener with the data attached to the URLLoader's dispatched event.
Hope that helps some.
var xStr:String="<bodytypesuggestions><ID1>36</ID1><ID2>34</ID2><ID3>37</ID3></bodytypesuggestions><bodytypes><ID1>34</ID1><ID2>32</ID2><ID3>35</ID3></bodytypes>";
var myXML:XML;
var suggestions:XMLList;
//requires 3 input textfields on the stage named ID1, ID2, ID3
function GetSuggestions(data:String):void {
if (data) {
var myXML:XML = XML("<wrapper>"+XMLList(data).toXMLString()+"</wrapper>");
var bodytypelist:XMLList = myXML..bodytypes;
suggestions = myXML..bodytypesuggestions;
ID1.text = bodytypelist.ID1;
ID1.restrict = "0-9.";
ID1.maxChars = 5;
ID2.text = bodytypelist.ID2;
ID2.restrict = "0-9.";
ID2.maxChars = 5;
ID3.text = bodytypelist.ID3;
ID3.restrict = "0-9.";
ID3.maxChars = 5;
GetSuggestions(xStr)
ID1.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE,myTextListener)
ID2.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE,myTextListener)
ID3.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE,myTextListener)
function myTextListener(e:Event):void{
var updates:Array = ['ID1','ID2','ID3'];
//check to see if current value is recognized
if (TextField(e.currentTarget).text == suggestions.elements(TextField(e.currentTarget).name).text()){
trace('found match')
for each(var fieldName:String in updates){
if (TextField(e.currentTarget).name==fieldName) continue;
TextField(this[fieldName]).text = suggestions.elements(fieldName).text();

How to send XML using UTL_HTTP
I am trying to workout how to send XML data to a webserver using UTL_HTTP but am not getting any reply
I need to submit the following XML document to a server "http://api.fastsms.co.uk/api/xmlapi.php" Their instructions are "The XML Document should be posted unencoded, with a UTF-8 character set as parameter 'xml'"
If I submit the following XML on their test form
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<apirequest version="1">
<user>
<username>**USER**</username>
<password>**PASSWORD**</password>
</user>
<application>
<name>Example Application</name>
<version>1.0</version>
</application>
<inboundcheck lastid="10711399"/>
</apirequest>
I get an XML response back with the messages in my inbox.
This is the code I am trying to use to accomplish the same from PL/SQL : I know a response is coming back as there is header information - just no content. What am I doing wrong ?
l_xml VARCHAR2(5000);
req utl_http.req;
resp utl_http.resp;

-- Open HTTP connection

req := utl_http.begin_request(l_url,'POST',utl_http.HTTP_VERSION_1_1);
-- Set headers for type and length
utl_http.set_header(req,'Content-Type','application/x-www-form-urlencoded');
utl_http.set_header(req,'Content-Length',to_char(length(l_xml)));
-- Write parameter
utl_http.write_text(req,l_xml);
-- Read response file

Cheers,
BrentHi Billy
Yikes - how embarassing ! Thanks for pointing out my beginners mistake there. I've fixed my code - and also implemented the substitutions of parameters like you suggested - I like that approach.
Unfortunately the end result is no better - the line
utl_http.read_text(resp,response_text);
Still returns nothing back
The headers that are coming back are
Date: Thu, 04 Jul 2013 08:31:56 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.16 (Ubuntu)
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.3.3-1ubuntu9.3
Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT
Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0
Pragma: no-cache
Vary: Accept-Encoding
Content-Length: 0
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
Connection: close
I guess I will need to try chasing it with the fastsms vendor so see if they can check my incoming request and see if there are any glaring problems. I know the xml is correct as I am now logging the xml string just before I send it and when I take that string and put it in their test form it works perfectly - something else in the puzzle is missing. I've had no experience using utl_http before - perhaps it's no possible to read the xml repsonse using this ?
Anyway, thanks for your help Billy.
ps - How do you paste your code into your message to get that formatting ?
Cheers,
Brent -

</SAP:Error>
From the SXMB_MONI, the inbound message payload is truncated with an error:
- <ProductIdentification>
<GlobalProductIdentifier />
- <PartnerProductIdentification>
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
The following tags were not closed: Pip3B12ShippingOrderConfirmation, ShippingOrder, ShipmentLineItem, isContainsHazardousMa...

</PartnerProductIdentification>
</ProductIdentification>
- <QuantityInformation>
- <confirmedQuantity>
<ProductQuantity>1.00</ProductQuantity>
</confirmedQuantity>
I've checked that the xml format is OK.
As a matter of fact, if I try to resend the xml file from directory, the message is processed correctly and the payload shows all the xml file.
Thanks.

Edited by: Daniele*Verdone on Feb 1, 2010 11:23 AMHi Suraj,
That option is not available in FTP mode..
This option is applicable only for the File adapter. If you enter a value in this field when configuring the sender FTP adapter, it will have no effect.
Yes, you're right !!
Are you sure that the message is not getting picked in half-way
Now, at this time, I can't see the XML data in the CC monitoring because the tool shows only the recent polling execute in the last 10 minutes. If the error recurs, I will check the payload of CC.
How can I solve the problem with reading incomplete file (FTP mode)?
...Meanwhile I will try with Full cache refresh.
Thanks

How to pass a xml CDATA in string element when OSB calling a webservice?
How to pass a xml CDATA in string element when OSB calling a webservice?
I have a business service (biz) that route to operation of a webservice.
A example of request to this webservice legacy:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:eg="example">
<soapenv:Header/>
<soapenv:Body>
<ex:execute>
<ex:arg><![CDATA[<searchCustomerByDocumentNumber>
<documentNumber>12345678909</documentNumber>
</searchCustomerByDocumentNumber>]]></ex:arg>
</ex:execute>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
the type of ex:arg is a string.
How to pass this CDATA structure to webservice in OSB?Steps to solve this problem:
1. Create a XML Schema. E.g.:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
elementFormDefault="unqualified">
<xs:complexType name="searchCustomerByDocumentNumber">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="documentNumber" minOccurs="0">
<xs:annotation>
<xs:documentation>
</xs:documentation>
</xs:annotation>
<xs:simpleType>
<xs:restriction base="xs:string" />
</xs:simpleType>
</xs:element>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
<xs:element name="searchCustomerByDocumentNumber" type="searchCustomerByDocumentNumber"></xs:element>
</xs:schema>
With this XSD, the XML can be generate:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<searchCustomerByDocumentNumber xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="searchCustomerByDocumentNumber.xsd">
<documentNumber>documentNumber</documentNumber>
</searchCustomerByDocumentNumber>
2. Create a XQuery to create a searchCustomerByDocumentNumber ComplexType. E.g.:
(:: pragma bea:global-element-return element="searchCustomerByDocumentNumber" location="searchCustomerByDocumentNumber.xsd" ::)
declare namespace xf = "http://tempuri.org/NovoSia/CreateSearchCustomerByDocumentNumber/";
declare function xf:CreateSearchCustomerByDocumentNumber($documentNumber as xs:string)
as element(searchCustomerByDocumentNumber) {
<searchCustomerByDocumentNumber>
<documentNumber>{ $documentNumber }</documentNumber>
</searchCustomerByDocumentNumber>
declare variable $documentNumber as xs:string external;
xf:CreateSearchCustomerByDocumentNumber($documentNumber)
3. In your stage in pipeline proxy add a assign calling the XQuery created passing the document number of your payload.
Assign to a variable (e.g.: called searchCustomerByDocumentNumberRequest)
4. Create another XQuery Transformation (XQ) to create a request to the webservice legacy. E.g.:
<ex:arg>{fn-bea:serialize($searchCustomerByDocumentNumberRequest)}</ex:arg>
For more information about xquery serialize function:
41.2.6 fn-bea:serialize()
You can use the fn-bea:serialize() function if you need to represent an XML document as a string instead of as an XML element. For example, you may want to exchange an XML document through an EJB interface and the EJB method takes String as argument. The function has the following signature:
fn-bea:serialize($input as item()) as xs:string

Hi, I am trying to figure out if you can record your voice into garageband using the built in mic and view that recording/track in musical notation. The reason I'd like to be able to do this is that it's easier to invent a jazz solo by singing it. I
