Problem in Sun StartOffice

Hello all.
I am trying to use Sun StarOffice to interact with Ms Office and other applications through Java. But the major problem with StarOffice is, it consumes too much memory and CPU time. Can you suggest me a better alternate of StarOffice. Or please let me know in what way I should use StarOffice so that I can eleminate these problems.

The best bet is to add more real memeory. I find that I need 640meg of RAM on windows and 512Meg on Solaris to make java based apps run at a reasonable rate. Memory is much more important than megahertz for this.
Also memory is cheap.

This is likely to depend on the version of the OC you have. The released one isn't supposed to work with Outlook 2003. Please contact Tech Support for the latest version and help.

Outlook connector requires that you have UWC (a.k.a communication express) installed and configured, which has it's own requirements. UWC provides the single web-interface to mail & calendar & address-book. Outlook uses the address-book functionality via UWC, IMAP and SMTP for messaging/email, plus WCAP for calendar.

Actually Xalan version shipped with AS 8.0 is Xalan 2.5.2 + bugfixes. So it is possible that slightly different version might have gone into Tomcat but i am not sure here.
So it would be good to know, how are you making sure that the same Xalan version is used with AS 8.0 or Tomcat ?

Problem Installing Sun One Studio ce on Linux RedHat 8.0

I have a problem installinh Sun One Studio CE on a machin with Linux RedHat 8.0.
The installation starts but at about 80% of its ther is an error and install stops.
Does anybody help me?
I don't know what error stop the install

I'm having the same problem.
The Sun One Studio CE starts up fine then towards the end it says:
"installing... this my take a few minutes"
But it doesn't, in fact it freezes there and doesn't do anything else.
(I left it running over night and it was still there with the same message)

In Outlook 2003, clicking the calendar icon at the bottom of the left pane, displays the calendar view. Within that calendar view, clicking �Open a Shared Calendar� displays a dialog that allows the user to enter the user name of a shared calendar. When the user name of a known shared calendar is entered, the error �Unable to display the folder. Your profile is not configured to support this operation for this user.� is displayed. This occurs also with contacts and tasks.
I am running Windows XP sp2 (fully patched)
Outlook 2003 sp2 (fully patched)
Sun Outook sync ver 7.2.402.1

This is supposedly a Outlook 2003 only issue although I haven't confirmed this.

You haven;t specified the exceptions you r getting ........while starting your default server.
if u r getting exception about InetClass then connect your system with LAN/Internet then your problem will be solved becoz i m using same location address as you specified, space doesn't matter at all - i think so, it is running fine........

You most likely skipped the step of starting the installed server prior to trying to access admin URL. Please check this document:

Portal Installation Problem on Sun Solaris

Hi,
I'm trying to Install portal (Oracle 9i AS ) on Sun Solaris 2.8 (64 bit). I have followed all the steps and installer show successfull installation. But when I'm trying to check the installation thru web browser, I'm not getting anything. It is not able to load portal. Please let me know do I need to start any listener or anything else.
What else should I do to check the mistakes because I have installed it twise but no luck.

I am having the same problem installing on Windows 2000. I looked at the services that were installed and two of the ones that were marked as Automatic did not start when I rebooted. They are:
OracleiSuitesHTTPServer
OracleOraHome81TNSListener
I also tried to start the HTTP server from the command line but got the following error:
D:\Oracle\iSuites\Apache\Apache>apache
Syntax error on line 14 of D:\Oracle\iSuites\Apache\Apache\conf\mod__ose.conf:
AuroraService - directive already in effect for this Server
If anyone has a solution please let me know. I had a hard enough time trying to get through the installation at all.

Problem with Sun PKCS#11 Provider and Ativcard smart card.

I'm trying to make a signature with a smartcard.
I have no problem signing with my card in applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook (they probably use CAPICOM or MS CryptoAPI).
There is only one certificate on my card with non extractable pair of keys.
When I`m using Java based application I have the following problem:
I have Java 1.5.0 installed, and according to the reference guide on:

I configured "Sun PKCS#11 Provider".
In file:
%JAVA_HOME%/lib/security/java.security I inserted the following lines:

In my case (I`m using ActivCard) The file "C:/pkcs11.cfg" contains:

As you can see, private key has extractable attribute set, what is wrong. Attribute is set and key has no values.
I think that can be the reason of NullPointerException. (Maybe when extractable = true, sign() methods expects key values filled).
So, I can not sign anything.
I tryed to add some additional attributes to file "C:/pkcs11.cfg":
attributes(*,CKO_PRIVATE_KEY,*) = {
CKA_EXTRACTABLE = false
but with no effect. Key was still extractable.
Can you help me to solve this problem?
PS. I`m using acpkcs211.dll (v3.2.102.0) as an implementation of PKCS#11. (Activcard says that it is PKCS#11 v2.11 implementation)

Which driver did you specify? I mean the smarcard reader driver or the smartcard itself driver?
If the second, does it come along with the card? because as far as I know I just got the smart card but no software at all (apart the smartcard reader driver).
Can you help me out with this?

So I tested this code under Netbeans5 and I don't where to find jar file contains the class: com.sun.messaging.jms.ra.ResourceAdapter
Other time I tryied to lookup this URL: "java:comp/env/jms/QueueConnectionFactory"
The result was: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException
I know it is a small code example but if I'm not able to solve this problem I can't go on with JMS.
I would be glad by any help.

Problem installing sun application server 8.2

I couldn't still install the 8.2 version.
However I'm trying to install it in Java 1.5.0._05 updated version?
Is there a specific version of Java which is causing the problem?

I resolved the problem, the main reason was their was appserv-rt.jar file in the Java lib folder, once this was taken out, it worked perfectly.

I created a simple entity bean with finder methods and business methods.
But when I am trying to test the entity bean by generating the New EJB Client, and at the time executing the EJB client test client the following error as occured.

To know the reasons for deployment failure , you
could run your application using the Sun One verifier tool. Right click your application node and select Sun one verifier under the tools category.
Please post the results of the verifier tool in case you are not able to resolve the problem.

Problems with sun update connection server ?

recently I've been having problems with accessing the update connection web server.
Can't get in with Firefox sometimes - get blank pages, or 401 error pages.
Then today with IE, hitting the help page on the top right, I get:

The URL is correct and it works for us no problem. I don't believe anyone else has reported this problem so I guess it must be working for everyone else as well.
