Portal Installation Problem on Sun Solaris
Hi,
I'm trying to Install portal (Oracle 9i AS ) on Sun Solaris 2.8 (64 bit). I have followed all the steps and installer show successfull installation. But when I'm trying to check the installation thru web browser, I'm not getting anything. It is not able to load portal. Please let me know do I need to start any listener or anything else.
What else should I do to check the mistakes because I have installed it twise but no luck.
Thanks.
Sandeep
I am having the same problem installing on Windows 2000. I looked at the services that were installed and two of the ones that were marked as Automatic did not start when I rebooted. They are:
OracleiSuitesHTTPServer
OracleOraHome81TNSListener
I also tried to start the HTTP server from the command line but got the following error:
D:\Oracle\iSuites\Apache\Apache>apache
Syntax error on line 14 of D:\Oracle\iSuites\Apache\Apache\conf\mod__ose.conf:
AuroraService - directive already in effect for this Server
If anyone has a solution please let me know. I had a hard enough time trying to get through the installation at all.
Thanks,
-Stephanie

WebLogic 6.0 Installation error in Sun Solaris 2.6
I tried to install the evaluation copy of WebLogic App Server in a Sun Solaris
2.6 box and when I run the installer, it stopped because a symbol in a xomEuro.so.2
file was not found.
The installer stopped and showed an error similar to:
../usr/openwin/lib/locale/iso8859-1/xomEuro.so.2: _XlcCompileResourceList: referenced
symbol not found
I will very glad to know what was the problem and of course, how to solve it.
Thank you very much

Added "DebugConfigInfo OFF" to the "IfModule" tag in httpd.conf and still no

location? Are there any other suggestions?
Also, from the documentation, the "AddModule" command for weblogic is not
added in some cases, why is this the case? This just means that the apxs script does not add it so you will need to add it
manually...

This is a known problem. It will be fixed in sp1.
For now, you need to add "DebugConfigInfo OFF" to httpd.conf.

Numlock Problem with Sun Solaris 10 remote login into Linux
Hi,
I am using a Sun Solaris 10 system in a network. The Num lock key works fine when launching application locally on the the Solaris system.
However, when I login from the Solaris 10 machines remotely into a Linux machine, set the display to my machine(i.e solaris 10) and then launch GUI applications, the Num Lock key does not work as expected.
Can any of you help me with this issue ?? Is this a documented problem ?
Is there any workaround for this issue ??
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Philipdj_phil, any luck on finding the problem and/or solution here?

Performance Problem For Sun Solaris Kernel
Hello,
I have DB version 10.2.0.2 On Sun Solaris 5.10, when a run top utility i see that 20-25 % of CPU takes Kernel.
Then i Truss DB writer and in out file i see error likes this: kaio(AIOWAIT, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF) Err#22 EINVAL
On metalink i read that it's bu using direct I/O on Solaris UFS file system. Then I change init parameter filesystemio_options from setall to asynch. now value of this parameter is asynch, but when i truss DB writer i saw same error: kaio(AIOWAIT, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF) Err#22 EINVAL
has anyone same problem?file system is UFS. mount option is forcefirectio.

URGENT - Oracle 9i, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS Portal Installation Problem
ERROR :
1. Objects with type JAVA CLASS with more than 30 characters are truncated to 30 characters
2. There are only 30 objects with type JAVA CLASS are installed (instead of 334) mentioned on the troubleshooting guide
3. Oracle9iASHttpService automatically stops after starting the service
Environment :
Windows 2000 Server
Oracle 9i 9.0.1.1.1
Oracle 9iAS 3.0.9.8.2 (Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2a)
PDK Services for Java version 3.0.9.0.4 (from Patch used to install 3.0.9.8.2)
Patches 8.1.7.1.1, 8.1.7.1.5, 3.0.9.8.2
I installed the Oracle 9i, 9iAS, Portal and the patches based on the installation instructions (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/DOCUMENTATION/INSTALL_GUIDE_9I.PDF)
I tried adding the Sample Web Provider I got ORA-29531 error on HttpProviderDispatcher. Then I checked the Patch 8.1.7.1.1 installation, they are some scripts that need to be run that was not part of the 9i/9iAS installation instruction. I run the suggested scripts(catalog.sql, catproc.sql and utlrp.sql) and modified the jserv.properties to point the xsqlconfig.xml to ORACLE_HOME\oracore\admin.
The error still persisted. From the Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, one of the suggestion is to run the sql command :
Select object_name, object_type, status from user_objects where object_name like '%HttpProvider%';
which resulted to an object with name '/3334f18_HttpProviderDispatche' without the 'r' at the end
and
Select count(object_name) from user_objects where object_type='JAVA CLASS';
which resulted to only 30 VALID object. According to the installation instruction, there are supposedly 334 objects.
I checked the object_name of the other JAVA CLASS objects, all the names of the objects are all less than 30 characters. It looks like that the objects with the object_name > 30 are truncated to 30 characters.
Then I rebooted the machine, when the machine went back on Oracle9iASHttpService stops automatically after it has been started.I have posted question on that thread and there is no specific solution from our problem. From the Oracle PDK Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, it looks like there is a problem on the Oracle Portal installation. I tried recompiling the packages and my problem worsened. Now I cannot start the Oracle9iAS HTTP Service.

Pablohi,
Make sure that your network uses DNS naming.
This error occurs when a machine is not correctly configured to use DNS naming. The default fully qualified host and domain name presented during installation is not correct.
To successfully install, you need to provide a fully qualified domain name that consists of a local host name along with its domain name.
for example yoursystem is a host name and yourdomain.com is a fully qualified domain name.

Oracle9iAS Portal Installation problem on Windows 2000
I'm trying to install distributed oracle AS environment.
There are two servers(A, B) with Windows2000+SP2
and one of them, Server A, has domain controller in it.
Server B is a member of that domain.
In server A,
I installed Oracle9i and Oracle9iAS infrastructure.
Everything looks fine when I checked with EnterpriseManager website.
These are the components I can see...
BC4J, ClickStream Collector, HTTP Server Internet Directory, OC4J_DAS, OC4J_Demos, OC4J_Home, Single Sign-On:orasso:7777
All the components are running except ClickStream Collector.
In server B, as a middle-tier,
I installed Oracle9iAS Portal/Wireless.
Everything goes fine except Wireless Configuration at the end of the Installation Process.
Ignoring Wireless error, I connected to EnterpriseManager website in Server A.
I can see the <9iAS Portal/Wireless> instance registered that I just installed in Server B.
Click into the <9iAS Portal/Wireless> Application Server, it seems OK except Wireless.
But, when I opened <oracle_home>/assistants/opca/install.log in Server B,
I could find some ERRORS while <configuring portal as a Partner Application for SSO Server>.
INSTALL_ACTION:createPartnerApplicationConfig()
INSTALL_ACTION:assocPortalToExistingSSO()
It was sql*plus ERROR, and it says...
SQL>ERROR:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password: login denied
Because of this error, I think, Portal DAD creation has failed.
Could somebody can help me with this problem?Hi,
The problem of installing Oracle Product on P4 computers comes from the symcjit.dll (Java Jusit in time compiler) which doesn't recognize the P4.
I installed Oracle products on my P4 just by copying the CD's on a harddisk and manually replacing the dll (which is Version 3...) by a one I found to be Version 4.0.0.7.
It is maybe not the best solution as it can result some instability (I don't know yet) but at least I didn't bought a brand new computer for nothing.
The question is to know when Oracle will deliver some patches to allow a normal installation on P4s.
Let me know if you want me to send you the dll.

Jacques. -

UCM 10gR3 installation problem on Solaris
Hi,
I have a problem installing Oracle Content Server 10gR3. When I run the setup script:
*$ cd <path>/UCM/ContentServer/solaris-x86/*
*$ ./setup.sh*
I get the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Installer
I am running Solaris 10 on VirtualBox, and I have Oracle Database 10gR2 Installed. JDK 1.5.0_20 is installed with Solaris, but I have tried different JDK's, with no use.
I tried setting the CLASSPATH environment variable to ".;/usr/jdk/latest/lib;/usr/jdk/latest/jre/lib", and running the script again, but I got the same result.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in Advance.

Sun, take responsibility for appserver7 installation problems!
*** First set of problems...
I'm having installation problems on both Solaris 8, (Ultra 480, 1GB RAM, latest recommended patches) and a Windows 2000 Server with SP2 (1GHz P4, 512MB RAM).
I chose default installation directory and then the install
complains that Pointbase 4.2 should be installed into the
same directory etc. Cannot unselect the Sample apps and
Pointbase options.
*** Second problem...
I have an instance previously installed on Windows 2000
Professional with SP2.(1GHz PIII, 512MB RAM, 5GB space)
When i start application server 7.0 , then i get the following
message:
Could not start the instance: domain1:admin-server
Server failed to start:abnormal subprocess termination
Could not start the instance: domain1:server1
Server failed to start: abnormal subprocess termination
Could not start one or more instances in the domain:domain1
Could not start one or more domains
Press any key to continue ...When you say that you choose the default installation directory and then the installer complained about Pointbase, what platform where you using? Had you already attempted installs in the past or uninstallations that did not complete properly?
For your second issue, did you happen to change the host name of your machine? Try cranking up the log level (edit server.xml) to see what's causing the instances to fail on startup. Did the application ever start up after install? What things did you do just prior to the server exhibiting this behaviour? -

Please help me, how can I install sun solaris 9 x86 on my HP E-Vectra PC.
Kalpesh MehtaI had similar problems several months ago. I suspect this happens when host pc does not have floppy drive(or bios somehow misreports it) as it was in my case. Solaris 8 seems to work fine in the same environment, so I keep using it for now. Possible workaround might be to use DCA from Solaris 8: Installation of Sol9 started just fine after I entered Sol8 DCA and asked it to boot from Sol9 CD.
Hope this problem will be fixed in subsequent Sol9 releases.

I think that there might be two main reasons:
1. Your computer is not supported
2. Hard drive may need to be formated to FAT32 or UFS
