Problem in using a structure with a field of data type 'RAW STRING'

I have written a ZBAPI that imports a structure which has 5 fields. I have defined this in the IMPORT tab of Tr.Code <SE37>. One of the field of this structure is of data type 'RAW STRING'.
When I try to activate this BAPI, I get an error message as follows:

"ZDAMPER_CON_DNA" Must be a flat structure. You cannot use internal table
strings, references, or structures as components.
Where ZDAMPER_CON_DNA is the table name that I am using.
FOR TESTING PURPOSE, WHEN I CHANGE THE DATA TYPE FROM 'RAW STRING' TO JUST A CHAR OF LENGHT 5, IT WORKS FINE.
Here is the source code of the simple BAPI that i am trying to activate.

Problem using SELECT-OPTIONS in an InfoSet with a field of data type UNIT.

I have created a simple InfoSet that links MARA with MARM. In the 'Selections' section of the InfoSet I have a variable named 'ZMEINH' defined as
Description: UOM
Selection Text: UOM
Format FOR: MARM-MEINH
EXTRAS: DEFAULT 'PAC' OPTION EQ SIGN I.
When I ran a query to allow selections on the MEINH field, instead of 'PAC' being the default, there was "***" showing in the UOM selection and if I attempted to execute the query it gave me a message that "Unit *** is not created in languague EN'. If I overide the "***" and enter 'PAC', I get the list of records that I expect.
I assume this is because MEINH has a data type of "UNIT".
How can I do a conversion so I can define a default value 'PAC' for MARM-MEINH in the infoSet that will carry through to any queries I created.

In our T006 there actually is a PAC and not a PAK. The T006A had as DE-PAK though.
I had this same type of language problem when trying to match an "order type". German is the "base" language in our system so maybe that means that raw data is stored with the German constant?
Anyway, I changed it to PAK and it works. When under a time schedule, that is what counts.

Try using Filed Symbols . Let your structure be WA_TEST type ZTEST.
Data string type X
Field Symbol <fs> type any
Do.
ASSIGN COMPONENT sy-index OF STRUCTURE WA_TEST TO <fs>.
If Sy-subrc NE 0.
Exit.
Conactenate STRING <fs> into STRING separated by co_tab.
Endif.

Can I enhance the extract structure with standard field.
Eg. If I want add(append) field PACKNO to Extraction structure MCVGIH. PACKNO is a field from standard table. So Can I do this and populate this without using abap code(customer exit) Should I give foreign key field also in the append stucture.

Hi Joe,
mostly it works as A.H.P explained, because in the extractor they mostly do a move-corresponding of the fields. Sometimes they don't, specially for newer applications and extractors because the abap statement move-corresponding is on the list of obsolete statements. In that case you need to do some coding.
So basically I would recommend to add the field, regenerate the datasource and check the result with rsa3.

Problems in using Windows Explorer with VPC Virtual PC?

Has anybody experienced problems in using Windows Explorer with VPC Virtual PC?
Lacking any "forbidden" or "appropriate usage" guidelines, I regularly use Windows Explorer (Windows 2000) to transfer file from the desktop. I have occasionally sensed that this might be wrong. Today I inadvertently clicked the MAC harddrive instead of the Desktop (within Windows Explorer) and caused all manner of mischief.
Any other views please?

not sure if coincidence or the same question, but the same question got asked internally. The seeded option is required to get the OJSP filter installed. Here's the internal response
ADF View integration with MDS not configured
In web.xml, you need to have mds-ojsp intg enabled to load jspx base + customizations from MDS. In your web project in Jdev, go to ADFv project properties and select “Seeded customization” property. It would enable mds-jsp engine configuration in web.xml. If you want to use user personalization feature at runtime, you would need to select “User customization” property as well which would enable ADFv change persistence config in web.xml.
Warning: Some of the metadata under ... is packaged as part of both WAR and MAR. This metadata cannot be accessed from WAR using MDS.
For these two packages, you are including the files in both WAR & MAR. This warning conveys that since these base files are being put in MAR, at runtime they would be read from mds repository & not from WAR.

Problem while creating with QUAN and CURR data type fields

I am trying to create a Z table. A couple of fields are of data type QUAN and CURR, which need to have reference table and reference field.
Field               DataType     Length     Decimal
TOT_QTY       QUAN            15                 3
PRICE              CURR             16                2
For reference table and fields, I found a Table HRPAD23 which has a field called N_QUANTITY (15,3) that matches my TOT_QTY field's data type and it also has a field called UN_PRICE that matches my PRICE field's data type. But when I use them as reference, and try to activate the table, I get an error "combination reference table/field does not exist". How do I fix this? Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance.

Martin,
I doubt that you need to add 2 extra fields in your table as suggested in the last post by John.
Your error is very CLEAR that you seem to be use wrong combination of reference table and field.
For QTY field,
use ref table - HRPAD23.              ref field- UNIT
OR
ref table - VBAP                       ref field - VRKME
For PRICE field,
use ref table - PAD25                  ref field - KWAER
OR
ref table - T77REFDOC                                     ref field - CURRENCY
It should work.

IT0041 - employee with more than 12 date types;

Has anyone had an instance where an employee has had more than 12 valid Date Types on IT0041? If so, how did you enter their 13th date type? We have just created our 12th date type in the table and we will probably be creating a 13th date type in the near future. We have a number of employees who already use 11 date types and could use the 2 new ones as well. I tried to create a new Subtype for my new Date Type - but the new Subtype requires that Date Type 01 be entered. I am not comfortable with having two identical Date Type 01s in IT0041 (one on Subtype 0001 and one on Subtype 0098).
Has anyone used more than one Subtype on IT0041?

Thank you for your responses. I don't think changing the Time Constraint class is the best solution for our organization. We did look at that option. I don't want to have multiple valid records; I want the ability to have more than 12 date types (values) on one record. Also, if we allow more than one record, SAP forces us to have Date Type 01 on both valid records - I would be concerned that these values may not match, and then Time Eval would bomb.
I'm also still curious if anyone has used more than one Subtype on IT0041? Again, we did try this, but SAP forces a Date Type 01 on both Subtypes.

You can set default value to custom field thru Lookup table. Assign lookup table to custom field and set default value to some lookup value (Note: check the “Choose a value to use as a default when adding new item” checkbox).

How to set focus on field having data type other than character(eg. NUMC)

I have developed one screen having table control inside. In table control suppose if numeric type field is blank(eg. Employee number of data type NUMC), system should throw error message and should put cursor focus on that perticular filed. In the same table control for fields of data type 'CHAR', I have done this using 'SET CURSOR FIELD' .
Please, suggest me how to set cursor focus on the fileds of data type other that character(eg. NUMC)

Have you tried it? SET CURSOR FIELD ... works fine for type 'N' fields in a table control. The restriction is 'character-type' and 'flat'. Type 'N' (or NUMC-like) fields are both.

MANDT is field for client , means it describes the parcular data is for perticular CLIENT.
with this field you can contain data for multiple client is one table, that is the advantege.
and read some basic tutorial .

Generic delta   using function module with two fields AEDAT AND ERDAT
