Problem installing SSGD on Solaris 9

I am trying to install SSGD solaris package and I am getting the following error:
=========
/var/tmp//installpDaG7s/checkinstallsDaG7s: /tmp/ttainst_0: permission denied
pkgadd: ERROR: request script did not complete successfully
Installation of <tta> failed.
No changes were made to the system.
====
I traced the installation using -v option for pkgadd and I am seeing the following:
+ cd /tmp
+ mkdir -m 700 ttainst_0
+ [ 0 -ne 0 -a 0 -lt 100 ]
+ cd /tmp
+ [ 0 -ge 100 ]
TTA_TMPDIR=/tmp/ttainst_0
+ export TTA_TMPDIR
+ chown nobody /tmp/ttainst_0
+ chmod 777 /tmp/ttainst_0
+ [ ! -f /tmp/tta_noreqcd ]
+ cd /tmp/ttainst_0
After that I get "permission denied" error that I listed previously.
Does anybody know how to avoid the "permission denied" error?
I created the 'ttasys' and 'ttaserv' users and the 'ttaserv' group that are required by Installation Guide.
I will really appreciate any help in this matter.
Thanks a lot
Boris

Thanks a lot for your response.
I am installing version 4.20.983 for Sparc Solaris. I put the package in /opt and ran "pkgadd -d /opt/ttaspso.pkg". I have lots of empty space in /tmp:
# df -k /tmp
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
swap 8081440 11496 8069944 1% /tmp
I am running this installation as a root. I have not explicitely set 'umask', but I tried to also set 'umask 022'
When I ran 'touch /tmp/pkgadd.debug', I didn't find anything in that file.
I still have the same error.
Do you have any more ideas?
Thanks a lot
Boris

    Hi Jarek,
I do not know to much about Solaris but this note (the truss command) cold give you a clue what is going on: 11g Grid Agent: Executing emctl Fails with 'Segmentation Fault' on Solaris 5.9 (Update 2) [ID 1140615.1]
Also: 11gR1 on Solaris failing at relink phase with errors like "ld: fatal: relocation error" and then "ld: fatal: library -lclntsh: not found" [ID 848700.1] could be of help regarding the link (lclntsh) error.

  • Problem with IPSec on  solaris 9

    Hi all
I'm facing a problem with IPSec on solaris 9 that I didn't have with Solaris 8 (With the Security package installed).
I've an application that creates SA's by using the pf-key interface.
What it does is first doing a GETSPI to a specific SPI and a specific Destination IP Address.
This will create an SA and put it in a LARVAL state. After about a minute my application will do an UPDATE to this SPI and that command should change the state of the SA from LARVAL to MATURE but instead I get an error saying that this SPI & IP address already exist (errno = 17).
Well of course it's already exist that's the all point it should just change the state of an existing SA.
This exact scenarion was is working fine on Solaris 8.
Am I doing somthing wrong (maybe there is a package on the solaris 9 that I need to install ?)
or is this a bug in solaris 9.
If anyone has any idea on how to do that (without using a one step ADD for a new SA) I will be very thankfull.

Sorry for using reply for querying.
I got a problem in creating a Security Association using the PF_KEY Socket (first used SADB_GETSPI and got SPI,with SPI tried to update SADB_UPDATE).
Getting this problem on Sun Solaris 8.
It returns errno 122 . operation not supported.
Here is my mailId [email protected]
I got few more queries regarding PF_KEY socket.
Not much directions are available also for pf_key socket in internet.
    Monitor produces the following error.
    # ipseckey monitor
"Base message (version 2) type UPDATE, SA type AH.
Error Operation not supported on transport endpoint from PF_KEY.
    Message length 16 bytes, seq=4294967294, pid=450."
Here is my mailId [email protected]
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Browser problem with SSGD

    Hi guys,
I installed SSGD and it works fine with one of my old dell machine firefox web browser. But my other vista machine doesn't work when i trying to use IE 7, and it kept giving me this error :
    ========================
Failed to start or download Secure Global Desktop Client Component
This may be due to your web browser security settings.
If problems persist, contact a Secure Global Desktop Administrator.
    =========================
I also tried to use firefox on that vista machine, but it just hangs there after i typed user and password.
Could you tell me how to fix it ? Thanks
note: I have Red hat and SSGD 4.4

The problem with IE7 is probably due to IE running in Protected Mode. In Protected Mode it won't download the SGD Client.
You need to add your SGD server as a trusted site.

  • Problems Installing Oracle 10GR2 & kernel parameters

    Hi there,
I'm trying to install Oracle 10G on a new Solaris10 machine. After extensivley reading the oracle install guide and proceeding my install failed with an out of memory error.
Ive read the posts regarding many similar problems and to set the kernel parameters in /etc/system. My question for the experts is:
1). Is there a problem with the oracle install scripts and it not recognising the new features in Solaris?
2). Is there a more deep-rooted problem with oracle and solaris?
ANY help/advice would be much appreciated. There are hundreds of posts like this on the web and surely someone must have the answer? I mean surely oracle did not hack /etc/system to get their install to work did they??
    Nibs

It IS a terrible experince to install oracle 10g on solaris 10. Tell us your system configuration and your installation step. For I have installed three times and each time a different problem. Suggest you go to oracle forum to get more help.

  • Oracle 9i install failing on Solaris 10

Oracle 9i install on Solaris 10 fails at the Database creation stage with Ora error "Out of Memory"
I have a Ultra 10 with 1GB RAM, 2GB swap and lot of space in the filesystem where I am installing Oracle
The oracle release notes asks for increased value for shmmax, shmmni etc by editing /etc/system and according to Solaris 10, it is not required as kernel dynamically allocates those values. It looks like it is NOT. How can I verify?
rcladm talks about shmmax values only with projects. How can I verify that all my applications running on a this box has a higher SHMMAX values and not on per project basis.
In older versions, sysdef could tell us the current SHMMAX values. Is there any comparable commands in Solaris 10.
I am not that comfortable with the rcladm features. Can some one show some examples.
Is anyone successful in installing Oracle9i on Solaris 10. I heard Oracle patch set 9.2.0.5 and 9.2.0.6 is certified with Solaris 10. Does it mean the original version of 9.2 does not install on Solaris 10?

'Net Configuration Assistant is failing" from installation. I tried twice and got the same problem. I tried to run 'netca' from the command line and got the same problem - Java runtime problem. I tried to install patch and could not find Oracle patches for Solaris 10 and the patches are for Solaris 9.
    Does anyone have suggestion?

Oracle 10G release 1 only support up to Solaris 9.
You probably need to install 10G release 2. The second release of major Oracle version is always more stable anyway.

I dont' mean to be starting up a storm that doesn't need to be stirred but I'm only telling you what it tells me on the mysql page. Below is the excert.
    End of Product Lifecycle.
Active development and support for MySQL database server versions 3.23, 4.0, and 4.1 has ended. However, for MySQL 4.0 and 4.1, there is still extended support available. For details, see http://www.mysql.com/company/legal/lifecycle/#calendar. According to the MySQL Lifecycle Policy (see http://www.mysql.com/company/legal/lifecycle/#policy), only Security and Severity Level 1 issues will still be fixed for MySQL 4.0 and 4.1. Please consider upgrading to a recent version (MySQL 5.0 or 5.1).
Anyway I put version 5.0.45 on my mysql zone with no problems. There is a binary version for download at mysql's site. I'm using the SPARC 64-bit version.
