Problem obtaining stereo separation in multitrack export mixdown

When I place stereo mp3 files in the timeline (one voice in the left and one in the right channel) and then select File - Export - Multitrack Mixdown - Entire Session, what I get is a mono mix in the left channel and a mono mix in the right channel. How can I export a multitrack mixdown and keep the stereo separation?

Thank you, Steve. Here is some more information.
Each channel of each stereo mp3 file contains one voice. The recording is an interview recorded using a telephone digital audio hybrid. My voice from a microphone is in the left channel. The voice from the telephone of the person interviewed is in the right channel.
For this particular interview, the recorder was stopped and restarted twice, resulting in three mp3 files. I want to make one mp3 file that includes all three segments, with a gap of silence between the segments so it is clear that some of the recording is missing.
I opened a multitrack session and put each mp3 file into a timeline, one after the other. In the multitrack time line, I can see the waveforms representing the left channel and the right channel.
When I select File - Export - Multitrack Mixdown - Entire Session, the result is a single mp3 file that has the left+right channel as a mono mix in the left channel, and the same in the right channel -- the left+right channel as a mono mix. The stereo separation that exists in the original mp3 files is lost in the multitrack session mixdown. Even though the mixdown is two-channel stereo, the left channel contains both my voice and the voice from the telephone. The right channel contains the same.
I have the Export Multitrack Mixdown dialog box open now, as I write this. Under MIxdown Options, there is a Change button. When I click the Change button, a Mixdown Options dialog box opens. Under Master, it has check boxes for Mono, Stereo and 5.1. When I check Mono, the result of the mixdown is a monaural mp3 file with the left and right channels combined. When I click on Stero, the result of the mixdown is the left+right channel in the left channel, and the left+right channel in the right channel. To put it another way, the left channel has a mono mix, and the right channel has a mono mix. The separation of my voice in the left channel and the person interviewed in the right channel is lost.
If there is a way to use the multitrack session to export an mp3 that maintains the stereo separation of the original mp3 files used in the session, I would be much obliged for your help in learning how.
Many thanks, and all the best to you.

AUDITION FINAL EXPORT / MIXDOWN FONCTION does NOT ever work
The Output Wave Resulting is a TOTAL SILENCE - NO SOUND AT ALL
Bought & registered Program act as an expired DEMO...
The result is a wave with a completely flat HORIZONTAL LINE of pure $300.00 rip off of SILENCE
Even after many clean reinstallations AUDITION never is able to do a Final Mixdown with any Sound in it.
A AUDITION Support Technician cleaned up during 1 hour about 15 secret hidden Adobe files in the Windows XP System.
After this clean up the AUDITION program functionned ONCE! Once it was able to output a Final Mixdown with sound in it.
That never occured again after. I have a very standard very well maintained Windows XP computer.
My understanding & the experience with the Adobe Support Technician prooves that the problem is the deeply hidden spy files of Adobe who erroneously turn my bought & registered program into an expired DEMO. I have reported the problem numerous times to Adobe, & everytime I talk to support people at Adobe, they tell me they have never heard about this problem, when I already had reported it MANY times at the Adobe Tech Support department !!!
I can only draw the conclusion Adobe is trying to hide this problem away by pretending they have never heard about it.. ?
Anybody have had a similar AUDITION  / DEPRESSION nightmare & found a solution ?

I would term Audition to be the very first & only recording program (on PC) conceived for musicians. All the others Audio Logic, Q Base ect. are conceived for professionnal recording engineers.
You seem to have a rather strange conception of Audition, I must say. Most musicians want it to do rather more than it does. It wasn't conceived for musicians at all really - it was originally designed to be just an editor, to which the functions of a multitrack tape recorder were added. Its primary use is professional - always has been, mainly by radio stations. Just about every station in the world has at least one copy, and some larger ones like the BBC have rather a lot more... and I'd say that it was the likes of Cubase and Logic that are conceived for musicians, not Audition. It's also used by a lot of Mastering studios, even though they won't admit it. The primary reason for it being in Adobe's Creative Suite is because it's getting more and more integrated with the video programs in it - nothing to do with music at all.
I'm afraid that whether you like it or not, Audition is marketed towards people who do know what they're doing, by and large. That's why it behaves the way it does, and why you do really need to be at least a bit of a technician to use it effectively. And I'm still trying to think whether I know of any guitarists at all who use amplifiers and who don't understand at least the basics of how a mixer works, but I'm afraid that I can't think of any. I'm not going to say that it's common knowledge, but I don't think it's that rare either.

  • Problems with JPGs that have been exported from InDesign

I have used InDesign CS4 for years and recently been upgraded to the Creative Cloud package, I have gone from a PC to a MAC as well.
The problem seems to be when I export a document in InDesign to a JPG file, when I try and use the JPG in other applications such as Powerpoint (for the Mac), the jpg isn't highlighted as an option to insert...like it hasn't been recognised.
I also recently had a problem uploading some jpg photos I had edited and exported to jpg and tried to upload to Snapfish and although I have done this many times before, it said my jpg file was corrupt.
No virus, or anything like that.
Does anyone know whether you can tweak the 'export' settings for indesign, I wondered if it was a compatibility issue?
    Anyone help me?
    Thanks

Well of course, there are the settings in InDesign's JPEG Export dialog, but there, all you can really do is make sure you're writing a "baseline" JPG in RGB mode. (Disclaimer: I haven't seen the 'CC' dialog, so there may be more about which I'm unaware.)
...when I try and use the JPG in other applications such as Powerpoint (for the Mac), the jpg isn't highlighted as an option to insert...like it hasn't been recognised.
That sounds like it could be a Microsoft Office issue. Can you insert a JPG that isn't the product of InDesign export? This is also why I mentioned RGB. I've seen Office apps choke on or ignore CMYK JPG's.
The number of posts in this forum on the subject of InDesign's JPEG export is unsettling to me. I truly believe it's a case of "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." Maybe I was "raised differently," figuratively speaking, but it would have never occurred to me to develop a workflow around the regular/routine export of raster images from my page layout application. If JPEG is my intended output, InDesign is the last application I'd reach for, perhaps unless I had a rare and specific need of a raster image depicting an InDesign-originated page layout. But even then, chances are I'd export from InDesign to PDF, then rasterize that by opening in Photoshop. If you need full control over raster image output, Photoshop is the much better bet.

  • No stereo from iPhone after export?

A movie made with iPhine 4 footage played "stereo" sound from the timeline. (borth channels sound)
After uploading it to you yube: stereo. (both channels sound)
after exporting to .mov: no stereo!, one chanal empthy, one sound!
I did it twice after total restart the mbpro: the same as in 3.
I went to the inspector, (audio) and changed 'none' to: 'stereo l/r' and exported again: yes; stereo! both channels sound.
But how is this possible? and is this normal?
    Thanks fot suggestions!

I think the iPhone can only record in mono..... I haven't found a way to capture stereo yet.

  • Re-opening a STP Multitrack Project after exporting Mixdown to FCP

    Hello-
I'm running Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2 with FCP 6.0.5 and am sending my sequences from the timeline to an STP Multitrack Project. I have edited the audio as needed, and exported the final mixed tracks back to FCP choosing .xml import and open in a new FCP Sequence for my options. The new sequence opens fine, complete with the new audio tracks lined up with the originals which are conveniently muted. Up until this point in my workflow, I'm good to go, and my exported audio sounds great - until I realized there were several more audio edits that I needed to make before finalizing the project.
Now, in the STP Manual, it states that to re-open a multitrack project after it has been exported to FCP is as simple as control-clicking the "mixdown" file (which is presumably the same thing as the imported .xml file...?) in the open sequence and clicking "Open in Editor." (Note: I do have my prefs in FCP set to STP for ext. audio AND video editors so that I can send over linked a/v files) BUT - it also says that when you click on "Open in Editor" that i should be prompted with the option to open only the audio file or open the project. After following these steps, I am not getting prompted to make this choice; the mixdown automatically opens itself in STP as the single .aiff audio file created during export and not as the original multitrack project, as the manual suggests.
Am I making a careless mistake somewhere in here that I am overlooking? Have I provided enough information to get the help that I need? Any help here would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
    -Meghan

There is a mismatch somewhere which is causing this sync problem.
Next thing to try - does your STP project sample rate match the sample rate of the audio in your FCP project?
In the STP project, on the projects tab, is "none" selected in the pullup/pulldown section, both audio and video?
In some cases, changing a frame rate can change the speed of the video, causing sync problems, so the earlier discussion about frame rates wasn't just semantics or terminology issues. I understand your frustration, but I was trying to help by ruling frame rate problems out.

  • Problem exporting mixdown audio XML document from Soundtrack to Final Cut P

I am writing this up at the suggestion of FCP Tech Support.
I treated a multiclip audio track I had sent (along with the video) from FCP using the Compressor (Effects Tab>Dynamics>Compressor). I then sent the mixdown back to FCP automatically (following the instructions on page 209, Vol III, FCP User Manual.pdf). In FCP I got an error message: “ERROR: Critical Error aborted the processing an XML document…”
I noticed, however, that the sequence with the mixdown audio was listed in the Browser. Opening it in the Time Line, the mixdown audio was there along with the muted original audio tracks; however, the video track appeared with all of its cuts, but white and unrendered. So I copied the video from the original sequence and pasted it in the new sequence, in effect replacing the problematic video track. It played back fine. I saved and closed the project, quit FCP and shut down my computer.
When I reopened the project later on, I got a General Error 34 message. I called TS to find out what it means. After creating a new project and reopening it and another current project, neither of which displayed a General Error 34, the problem seemed to be unique to that particular project.
FYI that project was a multiclip one with 4 camera angles. The audio from one of the camera angles was used through out, except for one clip when the audio of another angle was temporarily used. The project was shot on Mini-DV using 2 Panasonic HVX-200’s and two consumer DV camcorders.

Thank you for anyone who read my question. I found the results on another posting. The posting was titled, "Export results in silent audio file."
    Thank you,
    Brian

  • Export mixdown of several stereo tracks as one mono track

How can I select a few stereo tracks in STP and export them as a single mono track? either back to FCP or as a standalone file?
    Thanks!
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  32 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
    Final Cut Studio 7
Oops, i posted this in the wrong discussion group. can this be moved to STP?

On the Channels Strip (of the Audio Track with the Audio Region), ctr+click on the left segment of the Input Button. That opens a popup menu where you can select Left (only the left channel of the Audio Region is played as mono), or Right (only the right channel of the Audio Region is played as mono).
Once the signal flow of the Channel Strip is mono (one channel), you can use the "Mono➤Stereo" version of some plugins to convert the Channel Strip to a stereo channel.
About your second question. If you are referring to the little blue "Catch Playhead Button", that automatically scrolls the Workspace when the Playhead reaches the right border to keep the Workspace visible. You also can also enable  the "Scroll in Play" mode in the local View Menu. That one locks the Playhead in the center and scroll the Workspace "underneath"
However if you are referring to that little Play icon in the left upper corner of the Region Header (only visible in the Editor), that one, the "Solo Play Button", only plays that Region in solo mode. It is basically a combination of "Play " and "Solo" in on button. You can find all those little informations and much more in my graphically enhanced manual "Logic Pro X - How it Works".
    Hope that helps

  • Export clips separately from multitrack edit bombing Audition 2015 CC

attaching a screencast. Everything is up to date.
    Mac
    Yosemite
    latest everything.
    This hasn't happened before.
Any help appreciated as I have LOTS to edit/export (and before explaining how I'm going about this wrong, trust me that I've tried many options. Doing it this way (soloing tracks in Audition to edit / batch process / level) is saving hours... or would be if I could save the tracks individually once they're edited.  It's SUPPOSED to work per manuals/websites/help screens.
In the screencast I get an error message before it bombs.
    That was new.
Last night, when this happened several dozen times, I never got the error message. #stepintherightdirection
    Screencast of session

The screen capture wasn't a high enough resolution where I could read the crash report.  Any chance you can send that to me?  You can find it again by opening Applications > Utilities > Console.app  then expose User Diagnostic Reports.  You should see entries for each time Audition crashed - drag one of them into an email as an attachment and send it to [email protected] and I'll take a look.
I did just try it on my own system without any problems, and if it was working before then something else must be amiss.  The crash report may give us the right clues to start troubleshooting.

  • Adobe audition cs6 stops exporting mixdown at 50%

AA CS6 will stop exporting a mixdown at 49% sometimes 50%.  Any suggestions?   I have been using AA for a few years now and this is the first time I have had this issue.

No, it's not a ram issue, 64 bit with 16 gig and over 600 gig free space.  I think I have it narrowed down to being a VST problem.
Are any of the VSTs included with audition known to cause issues on Macs?  The only other VSTs I use with audition are some of the Izotope's.
I really hope it isn't a issue with them because I use them on every project.
I have transfered the project file and all of the recordings over to my Windows machine and everything loaded up perfect, and the export worked.
I'll let you know if I find the root of the problem.

  • Problem with Data Separation in SOLMAN 71.

We are using Data Separation in SOLMAN 7.1 SPS10  to control the Solutions that our customers can work with in MOPZ. It works fine in most cases, but we have found some customers that can see the right Solution but, when they search for the associated product versions with the match code, no product appears. We have also found that, if we try to access these product systems from SMSY, no system appears. Taking a look at the product systems with LMDB, the field Business Partner (customer) is empty. I think it is the reason why the systems do not show. But I have tried to change it in the LMDB but, although it lets me assign the correct Partner and save it but, when I close the LMDB and call it again, the field is empty. It seems as if the change was not saved. I have tried to do it also with data separation inactive but, in this case, the field does not even appear in the LMDB. Maybe it has to be changed somewhere else, not here. Has anybody had this problem? Any help wil be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Jose

    Hola Lluis,
I have applied the note that you suggested, but it did not solve the problem. It is strange because, in the Product System Editor, when I add the BP and save, if I go back to the LMDB initial screen and select again the same system, or even a different system, and then go back to the one I have modified, it still shows the right BP. But once I close the LMDB windows and call it again, the BP has disappeared.
    Thanks anyway for your help,
    Jose

  • Problem with number-fields in csv-Export-Files

    Hello,
the export with the csv option works fine and our users like this export-function.
But Unfortunatelly we have some problems with the exported number fields. In my region I defined the field with a format mask.
On the screen it looks fine but when I change to csv the values are exported as text-values.
So in excel the columns are shown with left alignment.
When I try to change the format in excel to number, excel change the column type but not the value inside.
On this account we cannot use the sum-function and the display of the value is wrong (alignment).
Which possibilities do I have to resolve that problem?

We are creating reports with Crystal Report for .Net. We both have a Windows and a Web application connecting to our database. The problem occurs only with the Windows application. We create a report and in the dialog that appears, we choose to export the report in MS Word format. Everythinglooks fine because after we save the document, MS Word is able to open and display the document. However, when we decide to add this Word document in the database in a table that has a image column bound to a full-text indexing schema, that document is never indexed. After fiddling around for a few hours, we realized that the Word document produced during the export is not a true Word document but rather a RTF document that was given a ".doc" extension. Is there a way to have a real Word document when exporting in Windows. The problem does not arise in Web because when we export, the report is displayed in Internet Explorer through the Office plugin. The Office plugin knows how to same a real Word document.
There is also a problem when exporting to Excel in Windows. It does not yield the same structure as in Web. The format of the export in Windows is not compatible with the Office IFilter of SQL Server 2000/2005, therefore the content is not available for search queries.

Some of the headset remotes supplied with the N95 contain a small battery that has most likely run out.
The battery is not really designed to be changed by the user so we can't help you with it here. A nokia care point can change the battery for you but you may also want to try a google search for more help.
