Problem Querying "Col" View

Hello guys,
I have some problem querying the "Col" View of Sys.
I have tested the following scenarios:
C# Code:
using (OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection("MyConnection"))
con.Open();
using (OracleDataReader reader = new OracleCommand("SELECT * from Col", con).ExecuteReader())
while (reader.Read())
Console.WriteLine(String.Format("Default Value: {0}",Convert.ToString(reader["DEFAULTVAL")));
If I tested this code using System.Data.OracleClient It works Fine and if there is sopme default Value it would be written.
If I change the driver using Oracle.DataAccess.dll from the last release.
Always, depite exists the DefaultValue it through "".
If I execute the query from TOAD I get the correct value also.
If I Change the code to use a OracleDataAdapter (:() I get an exception of Long Data Type.
My Oracle DB info is:
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bi
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
CORE     10.2.0.5.0     Production
TNS for 64-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
VS version is VS2010
Any workAround?

Finally, I get solved:
I need to add "InitialLONGFetchSize= -1" to the command configuration.

  • Problems in creation of workbook using Change query local view.

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a Multiprovider by using union of two infocubes and created a Query based on Multiprovider.  I want to restrict one infocube in Change Query local view for creating new workbooks.  In Query global view we drag and drop the Infocube under Filters, but in the Query local view Filter panel is in disable mode. (My requirement is to create the workbooks using change query local view only)
    How can I restrict the one Infocube values in the workbooks by using Change query local view?

    As you told that the query is on multi provider and the view is not allowing to declare/define filter value
    Just drag the infoprovider info object avilable under packet dimension to rows and right click on it restrict by selecting the name of the info provider when u right click it will show you the option of restrict once u click on it,it will takes to u a pop up where you can able to see the name of info providers and you specify according to it and finally in the display of results if you dont want to to display the info provider name then just right click on the 0infoprovider object under rows go to properties then choose hide option under display.

  • Problems with query in view object

    I have create query form view object that is render on a jsp. The dynamic generate query leaves out "'" single quotes on string 'not assigned' which is selected from a lov.
    Does anyone no how I might fix this?

  • Problem with 2 View Objects based on One Entity -Probably a Bug in ADF BC

    Hi
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3(SU5) and adf faces and ADF BC and to explain my problem I use HR schema.
    First, I created 2 view objects based on countries table named as TestView1 and TestView2. I set TestView1 query where clause to region_id=1 and TestView2 query where clause to region_id!=1 in the view object editor and then I created 2 separated form on these 2 view objects by dragging and dropping from data control palette.
    Now when I insert a record in the form based on TestView1 with region_id set to 1 and commit the record and go to the next form I can see the record in the second form which is completely wrong since it is against the where clause statement of the second form.
    I am really confused and the situation is very wired and it seems to me something like bug in adf bc.Am I right.Is there any work around or solution for solving this problem.
    Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Reading your helpful comments now I have some questions:
    1- I have commited the record in the database so shouldn't the query of view objects be re-queried?
    2- We try to use ClearVOCaches (entity_name,false) in afterCommit of the base entity object but unfortunately it does not work correctly. after that,We got root app module and used findViewObject method to find all the view of that entity (we have found them by using name not automaticlly) and called executeQuery of all views. From my point of view it has 2 big disadvantages. First suppose that this entity is an important entity and 4 or 5 viow objects are based on it. Now, For inserting one record we should re-execute 4 or 5 view which I think makes some performance issues. Besides, If during the development one programmer add a new view object based on this entity and don't add the executeQuery in the afterCommit for this view, again we have the same problem. Isn't there at least a way that automatically refresh all related view objects however the performance issue still exists.
    3- You mentioned that this issue is handled in the developer guide. Could you kindly give me a refrence which developer guide you mean and which section I should read to overcome this problem.(I have ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developer's Guide , however I search for clearVOCaches and surprisingly nothing was found!!!)
    4- Could you please give me some hints that from your point of view what is the best method to solve this problem with minimum performance effect.

  • Column alias error in a query of views

    I was trying to workout this query
    create view dept_sal as
    select d.department_name,sum(e.salary)
    from departments d left outer join employees e
    on d.department_id= e.department_id
    group by d.department_name;
    and i recieved this error message .............
    Error at Command Line:2 Column:25
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-00998: must name this expression with a column alias
    00998. 00000 - "must name this expression with a column alias"
    *Cause:   
    *Action:
    I tried to put an alias for sum(e.salary) function and it worked but i dont understand why it is required or is the problem somewhere else and why an alias is needed here ???
    Actually the book hasnt specfied the need for an alias at this place ...so i wanted to know why am getting this error ..

If you don't explicitly specify a name for the output column, Oracle will try to generate one based on the input expression. If the name does not follow the normal rules for identifiers (one of which is that the name can't contain special symbols, like parentheses) then the name must be enclosed in double-quotes.
    Notice that these rules are a little different from the rules about result sets. In the result set of a main query, for example, column names do not have to be unique, and a system-generated name like 'SUM(E.SALARY)" is acceptable.

    I'm using the Query Selection View web item on one of my web templates.  The issue is related to the Create and Delete command buttons not being displayed even though the Create/Delete - Display Button property has been selected for this control.

  • Expert mode query in View objects and appended where clause

    My company is Oracle Member Partner and we are developing enterprise web applications using Oracle database and BC4J.
    I have the following problem...
    When I enable EXPERT MODE option in View Object I have trouble appending to query statement in my client code.
    I need expert mode because I must use "SELECT DISTINCT" insted of "SELECT" in my query.
    It looks something like this:
    viewObject.setWhereClause("CLA_ID = " + claId);
    viewObject.executeQuery();
    SQL query from View Object becomes sub-query and fails to execute:
    select * from (original view object query) where (... appended where clause)
    Order by part of the query causes sql errors because original query is now sub-query.
    Is there any way around this?

    I tried creating an expert mode SQL query:
    SELECT DISTINCT EMPNO, ENAME FROM EMP.
    Then at runtime I do:
    vo.setWhereClause("ENAME LIKE '%'||?||'%');
    vo.setWhereClauseParam(0,'A');.
    and this works fine. The trick is that since expert-mode view objects get wrapped as inline views (to allow runtime appending of WHERE clause, actually), you need to select any column in the select statement to which you want to later refer in a dynamically-appended where clause.
    If you want to prevent the inline-view wrapping, you can write the following code in your view object's ViewObjectImpl subclass to force the VO to NOT be treated as an expert-mode SQL VO.
      // Goes in your view object impl subclass
      public void create() {
         // Force this VO to NOT be treated as an expert-mode SQL, so that
         // its query does not get wrapped as an inline view.
         getViewDef().setFullSql(false);
      }I used this trick above to create an expert mode query like:
    SELECT DISTINCT deptno FROM empand then at runtime I add a dynamic where clause that refers to a column
    in EMP that is not in the select list like this:
        ViewObject vo = am.findViewObject("View1");
        vo.setWhereClause("ename like '%A%'");
        vo.executeQuery();
        System.out.println(vo.first().getAttribute(0));and this causes the query to come out as:
    SELECT DISTINCT deptno FROM emp WHERE ename like '%A%'.
    instead of:
    SELECT * FROM (SELECT DISTINCT deptno FROM emp) QRSLT WHERE ename like '%A%'which would cause an error due to the fact that ename is not in the select list of the original (wrapped, inline) query.

  • Problem with Materialized Views after an export

    Hi @ everybody,
    At an Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.3.0) instance, all actual CPU's/SPU's are installed, on a Red Hat 6 Machine i have a problem with Materialized Views from a schema, which i have exportet from an old database machine on Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1.0) to the new machine.
    I've exportet with the old exp and imported with imp, because i know, that i get some strange errors because of the materialized views when i'm using the new expdp and impdp tools.
    At the old machine the materialized views are so programmed, that they get an update of data at a defined time like this:
    START WITH TRUNC(SYSDATE) + 21/24
          NEXT SYSDATE+1
    ...But after the export this "update function" of the materialized view is not available. So i have deleted that views and recreated them with the START WITH parameters. So now they are running.
    But why do i have this problem?
    Is this "START WITH" somewhere written as a job or so in, for example, DBMS_SCHEDULER or something else? So i had forgotten to export these jobs or where is that defined?
    Is this a bug?

    I can't remember the error of expdp/impdp. That is some days ago, i have to rebuild this.
    I think in my scenario for the import i don't need the TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION, because by importing at the new server i've just createt the naked tablespace for the data and the users, not more. So he didn't has something to overwrite.
    And i have to tell you: i'm just the dbA. The desining of the tables and materialized views is many years ago by installing the old server. I'm just to young in my company to know about the design of the instance and why it was designed so.
    Anyway: my problem is, that after the import of the schemas to a new server the "START WITH" option in the materialized views is not there anymore and i just want to why so i can think about a solution for that and create it with the database designers of my company.

    )The own differences i can see is at the "header". In the new one is the NOCOMPRESS LOGGING Option and in the first line the code has the columns diretcly defined.
    But, i think, for my problem this line is determining:
      REFRESH COMPLETE ON DEMAND START WITH sysdate+0 NEXT SYSDATE+1And this line is the same at both server.

    However, I believe I must be querying the data for creation of the view incorrectly. My query:
    select count(*) from myXMLTypeTable;
    returns 1 record, I was hoping for 3 based on the 3 records contained in the file.
    Likewise, when I try to query the view, I get the following error:

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row
    Am I loading the xml data wrong or querying from the view wrong or both?

    Thank you for your help. I've been doing some research on the XMLTable syntax but am having a difficult time getting it right. I've tried a couple of different things but not working.

  • Querying a View Object after a Row has been inserted

    Hi All,
    I have a query as to whether something can be done or if I should be approaching my problem in a slightly different way.
    First an explanation of what I am trying to achieve:
    I have a header record that deals with a new user request. From one of the pages within the train one or more of several different ‘applications’ can be selected. When an ‘application’ is selected I am navigating to a new page, it queries the linesVO to see if any lines exist for that ‘application’, where they don’t it adds lines to the VO each representing ‘questions’ specific to that ‘application’. This works fine, however if I then come out of that page back into the train and then back into the same page specific for the same ‘application’ the initQuery is run and the lines I have just created are not found, it then tries to reinsert the question lines but will error as primary key validation fails. I do not want to commit after coming back from the lines page as the user has not specified a save, adding a save to the lines page would also cause the header to commit.
    Now the Question:
    Is there a way of ensuring that I can run my created method ‘initQuery’ which sets a where clause and calls ‘executeQuery’ will bring back lines that I have created in the VO and are held in cache? They must be held in cache else I would not be getting the error ‘Too many objects match the primary key’
    Any guidance on this matter would be most appreciated,

    Unfortunately I do need to query the view again, each time the user clicks on a different ‘application’ in the train it will need to show only the lines in the view relating to that application. It is a bit like a master-detail except I want to show the detail lines on a separate page.
    I could have made each page separately but I am trying to make it dynamic so if a new application is added in the future I only have to add the details to the database tables.

    it's "possible", in the same way that low temperature fusion and space elevators are "possible". There's nothing conclusively ruling it out, but not something you want to attempt on your own under a time constraint.

    Travis has discouraged people from even trying to read from it. a college of mine does service manager and operations manager databases at a 400+ level full time, and after 2+ years of doing it, he
    almost understands the operational database. it's WELL beyond me, and I do Service Manager basically full time. 
    That being said, if you are brave and only looking for some basic data, you might be able to tease some things out with the SQL management studio and a good grasp of SQL syntax.
     for a production environment, you're much better off fixing the DW.

    I am involved in developing a web application wherein I have to display the 'All Workbooks' similiar functionality in the 'Open Workbook from Database' dialog box of Discoverer.     Let me tell you briefly... I am sending input as customerId,customerNumber,CustomerName to the web service, if the record is available i am getting the response and i am displaying those records on page as a table. Now when i click a row i need to populate another table with all sale orders of that customer. From webservice datacontrol i have only customer object, I dont have Sales Order Object. For this i need master detail relation. In this case how to proceed. Thats why i am thinking to create a vO and EO object for sales orders table and i want to create view link for this sales order and customers. As i don't have customer VO and EO object to create view link.

  • Weird event display problem in week view

    Hi. I'm getting a weird display problem in week view. First time this has ever happened.
    Some events appear to be missing, but when i double click on where I know the event is supposed to be, a new event is created (as excepted), and the missing events suddenly appear. When i move forward or back by a week, and then return to the week in question, the missing events are gone again. But, I can see the missing events in day view or month view.
    Any ideas?

    Next, try reinstalling the Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo).
    If that is unsuccessful:
    1. Use iCal>Export...>for each one of your individual calendars.
    2. Delete all but one of your calendars.
    3. Create a calendar and name it "Test."
    4. Delete the calendar which remained after step #2.
    5. Quit iCal.
    6. Remove the iCal plist, and drag the iCal plist file to your Desktop.
    7. Log out/in or restart.
    8. Restart iCal and use iCal>File>Import...for each one of the calendars that you exported in step #1.
    9. Delete the "Test" calendar, and any "Home/Work" calendar which was automatically created when you opened iCal in step #8.

    I am working on upload conversion for Vendor Master. While doing conversion, i am getting a problem with a Contact person view in XK01 transaction. In contact person view the telephone field column sometimes allowing to add data ,sometimes it's not allowing data which results an error in conversion program saying that the telephone field in not an input field. I don't know why the view is showing the telephone field like that.
    Can any one suggest the solution for this problem. I know this is configuration problem with a view but i posted in ABAP forums.

    I assume that you are writing a BDC program to upload contact person information. If so, you are trying to populate a table control here. Please check to see if you are calculating the index to assign values to the correct rows.
    if you are calculating index in your program then i think it should be configuration problem as you said.
