Problem receiving attachment with Mail 5.1

Hi all,
Just got the New Macbook Pro 15". Superb machine!
But since i set up my Mail account on Mail 5.1, I can receive and send mails... but have problems opening attachements.
It tells me that there have been a problem with the file and that It has crashed.
I don't have any problems when I open the same mail from my internet provider site.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you in advance
Julien

the problem I have since I upgraded to Mavericks version 10.9.1
The problem appears only with Mail not with other programs, not even with my browser.
When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but  he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

  • Getting: Unable to send attachment with Mail Drop

Mail Drop is not working for me, I always get error message while trying to send.
    Here is what happens:
-I compose a message that includes a large attachment
    -I click send
-I get the message "Unable to send attachment with Mail Drop" for a few seconds
-My message is not sent and it goes into the Outbox folder.
    Configuration:
    OS X 10.10 Yosemite
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Advanced. The option "Send large attachments with Mail Drop" is selected.

I had the exact same problem.  I finally figured out what was wrong.  I believe you must have iCloud Drive turned on in System Preferences AND you also must allow mail to store document in iCloud Drive which you can check by clicking the "Options..." button in the preference pane of iCloud Drive. As you can see below.

  • Can't receive email with Mail 4.4 - but iPad does

    Hi guys,
I have a strange problem with Mail 4.4: I have multiple email accounts that I manage through Mail - all work fine except my gmail account, which stopped receiving emails about a week ago. Here are some details:
    1. The account constantly shows the "busy" icon (rotating circle) but Mail Activity window does not show anything.
    2. I can send email from the account - but not receive any emails for this account with Mail.
    3. I access the same account through my iPad and iPhone - both work perfectly fine (i.e. get all emails), it's just Mail that does not receive.
    4. The Connection Doctor shows no errors - all lights are "green"
    5. I can access the corresponding gmail account through Safari without problem - all incoming emails are shown correctly
    6. The account is set up as IMAP
There is one occurrence that is probably related to the problem and could help with a solution:
    1. Mail 4.4 created a new folder called "Recovered Messages" for the gmail account and started saving tons of messages in it - or copies of one message to be precise. This happened at the exact point in time when Mail stopped receiving emails for this account. The email in this folder is one that I attempted to sent, but never did: I composed it and dragged some attachments into the compose window. One of these - accidentally - turned out to be 25MB so I figured that email is too large and closed/deleted the email before sending it.
It now seems that mail is reloading this gigantic 25+MB email over and over again into the "Recovered Messages" folder. I tried to find that email in Drafts, Sent or Outbox folders but it is nowhere to be found - I have no idea from where Mail loads this over and over again.
Can you help? Many thanks in advance!

First time I can answer my own question
I did some more research and found a thread about the issue of large emails getting stuck and reloaded into Recovered Messages folder:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2153401
This one did the trick for me (posted by Miguel Lira):
If you're experiencing the "Recovered Messages" issue it may be related to offline processes that are failing when you open iMail. For me the fix was to open a terminal window and delete all the files in the following folder: ~/Library/Mail/[email protected]/.OfflineCache

  • Problem using Hotmail with Mail

I recently installed leopard and configured a hotmail account to use with mail, but the problem is that every time I open Mail, it downloads all the emails from the account, and even if I delete them or mark them as read, the next time I open mail, they'll show up again, and it's very annoying. Any solution other than deleting all the emails on the hotmail account??
    Thanks

P.S. I just noticed another issue here: everytime I receive a message in my hotmail account, it shows up twice in Mail. The first problem is more important, but this one's annoying too..Any clue?

  • Problem while sending the *.txt as attachment  with mail

    Hi All,
I am Using  function module (SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1) to send Mail with attachment in *.TXT format. But This function module is allowing only 255 char for a row. But the length of my Internal table is 700 char. Is there any another way to process the attachment without disturbing the data, that means need to process all 700 char in the field with out splitting.

no other way and use mutilple lines as text ( This is possible )
you want to keep text as multiple lines into internal table use FM
SWA_STRING_SPLIT - Pass text and maintain length as 255 Charcters

  • Send/Receive Difficulties with Mail.app/.Mac Webmail

I had sent a short test message to myself, using a .Mac account on Mail.app, to see if I could duplicate an error reported by another user. That message 'black holed' itself, leading to the following series of similar messages and results. For purposes of explanation:
    a) messages were sent on the same account from either Mail.app or .Mac Webmail
    b) "OK" means that messages showed up normally in Sent boxes and in Inboxes in both locations.
    c) "Black Hole" means that messages showed up in Sent boxes in both locations, but showed up nowhere else. Ever.
    d) "Junk" means that the message was sent, showed up in Sent boxes, but was slotted into Mail.app's Junk ƒ. In all cases, those messages were then moved to the Inbox and marked as "Not Junk".
    Message results:
    #1 — from Mail.app — Black hole
    #2 — from Mail.app — Junk
    #3 — from Mail.app — Black hole
    #4 — from Webmail — Junk
    #5 — from Webmail — Black hole
    #6 — from Mail.app — Junk
    #7 — from Mail.app — Junk
    #8 — from Webmail — OK
    #9 — from Mail.app — Junk
    #10— from Webmail — OK
    #11— from Mail.app — OK
    Two questions or concerns:
    a) 3 of 11 messages, from both Mail.app and Webmail, simply disappeared. They have message ID's, are present in the sent folders, but never showed up.
    b) Mail.app's Junk filtering insisted, for a long time, on slotting those incoming message to the Junk filter (and still does, btw, on an intermittent basis). No changes have been made to Junk preferences or setups and this had not occurred in the past.
Would appreciate some of the mail gurus taking a look at this and seeing if they can find any common threads or causes. There may be more than one thing in play here, of course. TIA for any assistance.

I'm curious about the Junk (result "d" & question "b") aspects of your tests. Can you confirm that:
    1) You do not have any custom rules that use the "Message is Junk Mail" test -- IOW, that the Junk Filter is the only rule that is using this test?
    2) The messages to yourself all were sent to a "self" address that is in your Address Book app (typically, but not necessarily, the "me" card)?
    3) For all/some result "d" messages they were marked as Junk?
I ask because I have intermittently seen Mail apparently ignore other default tests in the Junk Filter (particularly "Sender is not in my Address Book" when the sender is me) & evaluate the 'junkiness' of messages just on the "Message is Junk Mail" test. It has been difficult for me to evaluate David's methods for correcting this in my case because of the extremely intermittent nature of the behavior: in some cases new "me-to-me" received messages are immediately marked as Junk after removing the files David indicates, in others a few weeks later one or two are while others aren't.
In every case (so far) that some are identified as junk, training with the "Not Junk" button on a couple of messages seems to end the occurrences, as if the LSM filter has to learn they are not junk independently of the other tests.
Because of this, I would appreciate your posting to this thread any related results that occur long after you try David's fix(es), if you do try them, even if they are rare or inconsistent.
    Thanks.

  • Problems receiving email with O2

    Hello,
I can send mail but not receive it.
My broadband provider is O2 but my email account is with neither O2 nor Mac – it’s with freezone.
My out going server is relay.o2broadband.co.uk or smpt.o2.co.uk. In the past I’ve used either, and both have worked. It’s set to port 25.
The incoming mail server is pop3.freezone.co.uk
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

My out going server is relay.o2broadband.co.uk or smpt.o2.co.uk.
I think you mean smtp.o2.co.uk. If the Outgoing port is set to 25, it's entirely possible that o2 changed this port number to thwart spammers from relaying mail through their servers, and failed to inform you. You should try changing it to 465, with password authentication and SSL enabled, and try the same for the Incoming server, except try changing that port to 995.
If neither of those work, I'd call or email O2 and ask them for the correct settings, telling them that Port 25 does not work as an Outgoing server.

  • Send attachment with mail

    Hi all,
I am using Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0. I am sending MULTIPART mail contains HTML +Attachment. When I send mail to any E mail id of my own domain (eg. [email protected]) , then that user will get both message and attachment. But when i send same mail to other domain (eg. [email protected] or [email protected]), then that user will get only message and NOT attachment. Why this is so? Please help.
Someone suggested me to use following code, but prob is not solved.
    UTL_SMTP.COMMAND(V_CONN, 'AUTH LOGIN');
    UTL_SMTP.COMMAND(V_CONN,UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_VARCHAR2(UTL_ENCODE.BASE64_ENCODE(UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_RAW(V_USERNAME))));
    UTL_SMTP.COMMAND(V_CONN,UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_VARCHAR2(UTL_ENCODE.BASE64_ENCODE(UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_RAW(V_PASSWORD))));
    Please help me.
    Thank you

    here is a sample program.
I have used this program to send in attachments.
    http://www.akadia.com/services/java_mail_plsql.html
Also modified the program to send text in the body. Current limit i think is 32k. You can increase this by modifing the java program to accept blob.
    Hope this helps.
