I know when this happens cause the my documents folder is renamed from Boot's documents to My documents This wont let me have custom icons or keep my rename of the my documents folder. It seems to happen went I update the video drivers. this is the 4th time it has happened in the past I have created a new user and got rid of the old one but that is starting to get old. Any Idea's on what is happening or how to fix this.

  • [GeForceFX] Problem updating drivers and playback probs

I have an NVidia FX5200 personal cinema and have constantly had problems udating drivers (crashes or b&w display) - last time I tried the system crashed and no amount of fiddling would allow me to go back so I had to re-install windows and ended up with new install of XP Pro SP2 on reformatted partition - this installed its own FX5200 MSoft driver (something like 5.6) but didn't install any software or capture drivers so I re-installed the drivers from the disk - this ioverwrote with 4.n version drivers. When I tried to update to the latest drivers using MSI live update my pc crashed on start as before with a blue screen message OX0000007E and I was unable to sort this out so ended up re-installing windows AGAIN and starting from scratch once more.
This time I thought I had it sorted and gradually updated the drivers dowloading and updating each of the 7 available and this time each one seemed stable... until I reached the latest 7772 when I got the same blue screen message - fortunately this time I was able to roll back to 6681, which unless 77 is essential, I'm jappy to stick with.
However I am having problems playing avis and mpeg files direct from my hard disk - they both stop briefly, sound stutters or they jerk when playing although they play fine if I burn them to cd and play from the dvd drive.
Any ideas about why I am not able to upgrade drivers successfully and any ideas about why I'm getting playback probs? All help appreciated.

    Hi Shrek
I just listed my first post. I bought a dell Dimension XPS T500 in 999. It used a CT4780 that fed a good Altec Lansing speaker system. When I built my present budget PC I used the old CT4780 card. Because I?am using XP Pro I loaded Li'veDri'veUni-Pack.exe driver (released 280203). This worked fine.
But I do not have the SPDIF working as yet. My MSI? MS-6533XG?Motherboard does have?header pins for SPDIF but?so far I haven't used them. I am looking for drivers to use if I can get the SPDIF connected.
Do you have any info?on my needs?

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me, i have a creative soundblaster li've value sound card model no. CT4780 it's about 4yrs old and i am trying to update the driver as the last one to go on it was in 2002. • Miix 10 updating drivers problem

I have had a Lenovo Ideapad Miix 10 for about a month and am very pleased with its usability.
I upgraded to Windows 8.1 about 3 weeks ago I but did not update any driver.  The Miix still worked very well.
Today, I went to the Lenovo driver update page and began to update Windows 8.1 drivers one at a time, rebooting between each one. I firstly updated the Bios - no problem.  Rebooted, and all OK..
Next, going down the driver list I attempted to update the Bluetooth driver, but during the updating process, the speaker activated with an extremely loud ear-splitting high pitch tone which we could not turn off.  After completion of the Bluetooth update the sound stopped. I again rebooted, and everything seemed OK.
Going down the list I updated the Chipset driver, the Display and Video Graphics driver, the network drivers, etc.  During these updates the speaker again spasmodically went into spasm with this extremely loud tone, at a different pitch each time.  We thought there must be a driver conflict.
After this series of updates, I attempted to play music but discovered there was an issue.  No sound from the speakers, except occasionally, a low volume scratchy sound.
Next, thinking that there must be a driver clash somewhere, I wanted to update the Audio drivers, but there were none on this list.  Searching the Lenovo site I discovered appropriate drivers (Intel SST Audio Device (WDM) With Realtek 12S Audio Codec) for a Thinkpad model which I downloaded and used.
I checked out audio devices and found that the Mixer was responding to the audio file playing.  I then went on to test the earphone audio output and was surprised but pleased to discover that the audio was OK through that port.  But this still leaves me without any speakers.
Can anyone shed any light on this situation.  The only conclusion that I can come to is that somehow, inexplicably--and in all the many years of my IT experience it is not a situation I have ever come across--that action of updating drivers has blown the speakers.  Unless there is another rational explanation....
... which I would love to hear!
    Yours faithfully, expectantly, hopefully....

Hi, I have been experiencing problems after upgrade to Windows  8.1 that seem to be caused by device drivers. In my Miix 10, wifi connection is very unstable and finally WLAN adapter stops working unless the Windoes is restarted or its device driver is reinstalled by Device Manager. I am not sure who is responsible for this problem,  Microsoft,  Lenovo, or Broadcom, but wish to be solved very soon.

  • How do I update drivers and BIOS on Satellite P300?

I've been having problems with my wifi, and as my partners laptop is working fine, it was suggested that I might need to update drivers and/or BIOS.
I've tried to do this but where do you download the BIOS/driver updates to?
It just defaults into 'my documents', sits there and does nothing?
After downloading, How do I ensure my notepad 'takes' the updates?
As you can see, I'm not overly technical so any advice in simpletons terms please...
    Thanks.

    Hello
All drivers and tools for your notebook can be downloaded here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
At first I would try a WLAN driver update. If you have downloaded the WLAN driver, unzip all files and start the setup.exe file. This will automatically install the new driver and will be used now.

  • Problem updating Nokia N97 firmware over the arir ...

    OK here goes,
I'm having some real problems updating the firmware on my white nokia N97
I recently bought it of the web as a 12 month contract onto t-mobile (not there website though) in th uk
After noticing some problems i googled and noticed a firmware update had been released on 1st july 2009
I tried to get the firmwae over the air (OTA) via typing in *#0000# and selecting check for updates. I get no updates available for nokia and t-mobile (unsure what the difference is?)
So i heard try using nokia software updater.
i downloaded latest version 1.6.13 and installed it on a windows vista 32-bit home premium laptop ok
i have also installed all of the stuff that came with the cd with the phone (ovistore etc )
when i plug the phone into the laptop i get four options (PC, media, usb and something else) first time it ran it installed the necessary drivers and so therefore when i now plug it it just connects as expected.
so the laptop is detecting the nokia n97 at this stage
when i then load nokia software updater click next i put the phone into general mode on full charge with a sim card in it and click next again to detect the phone is pc suite mode
after about 2 minutes it says it can detect the phone although i can go to my computer and traverse the folder view!
i can even set it off looking for the phone pluggin it in and the autoplay options of vista will kick in in the background detecting the phone (ie outisde scope of nokia software updater)
i have tried all different connections mode pc suite mode etc different profiles nothing. tried it onto different pcs with different windows version on it. tried reinstalling software updater
my software version is 10.0.012 and my product code is 0587240
interestingly when i goto the can i update on nokias website it says no i have the latest version when i supply this information. weird
im kinda in catch 22 because there is a bug with pc usb detection of the phone in version 10 but i cant update to version 11 because of this bug
its driving me nuts any help greatly appreciated
    thanks in advance
    Cheers

It will break your facebook as you have re-formatted the C: drive of you phone. Was you facebook installed to the E: drive by any chance?
Go to OVI Store and re-install it.
It may be work installing it from OVI Store then un-installing that one to clean off the mess you have been left with post formatt and then re-installing it fresh from OVI Store.
As I always say. Before doing a re-format always  uninstall all apps/widgests before doing a hard reset or factory reset.
I also do a this and a factory reset before firmware updates to clean my phone. Should really do a hard reset/format as this would be cleaner still, but tehn I would have to do a lot more set-up afterwards.

My problems have not been quite that severe, but my recent experience with Boot Camp 2.1 and SP3 has been pretty bad. First, my colors do not seem to be displaying properly, mostly with blues turning into red (i.e., links in Firefox). Then last night I got three blue screens while using MS office in XP(which also has color problems).
Remarkably, I do NOT have any of these problems in fusion, running off the same partition....
I read another thread which suggested upgrading the graphics drivers in XP, which I am going to try, but if you uninstall boot camp 2.1, won't you have problems with SP3? Aren't you supposed to install 2.1 before you do the SP3 upgrade?

  • Updating Drivers

    Hello,
I have a macbook air with windows 7 installed on boot camp. Recently, i have been having trouble connecting to some WIFI networks. Since i already had similar problems with a macbook, i think it is hardware related.
I would like however to update the drivers to make sure this not some software glitch. I was wondering how exactly to get these new drivers.
    Thank you,

Thinkvantage systemupdate will update drivers too. No manual driver download needed it update works for you.

  • Most updated drivers

    Hi guys,
Some time I found a thread where, among other things, someone made a summary of the most updated drivers and the wifi one, for example, was way more reliable, etc. I would swear that thread was on this forum, but I don't seem to be able to find it. They also mentioned drivers from lenovo, etc.
Could you please point me where that post is?
Also, is anyone experiencing problems when using wifi, keyboard and mouse (both bluetooth) at the same time? Some times my keyboard goes crazy and stops typing and after a couple of seconds it types all the keys I pressed. Sometimes it goes even crazier and fot "stop" I woulkd get a "stttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttop" or similar.
    Thanks!

Hi UnoDosTres, welcome to the HP Forums. I understand that you are looking for a link to a page you once found with miscellaneous drivers. Also you are getting a keyboard delay when typing.
I have no idea where this link you are looking would be, but I can possibly provide a link to your products driver page. To obtain this information, and keyboard troubleshooting steps, I need more information about your system.

You shouldn't have too much trouble provided you have a relatively clean system.
You should backup your personal users folders off the machine to a regular storage drive (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
10.6 upgrade strips out the 10.5 PPC code your not using and offers faster video drivers and some neat features like Exposé and Spaces which is highly productive as you can have 4-16 desktops visible at once and move stuff around between them (10.7 ripped that out)
10.6 is the fastest OS X version Apple has made, 10.5 is universal (more code and older video drivers) and 10.7 is slower than 10.6 in tests on the same hardware.
Your 10.5 install disk should be working, (check it first) stick it in and reboot holding the c key down, you should be able to boot from the disk. Apple isn't offering replacement 10.5 disks anymore so it needs to work in case you want to downgrade from 10.6.
You can learn how to make copies of your 10.5 disk online. I would do so.
You might decide to Carbon Copy Cloner (free/donations) your present 10.5 system to a blank external powered drive, you then can hold the option key and boot from it, erase and reverse clone back to your internal drive if you wish.
10.6 will run all your 10.5 software (some may need a update) as it has Rosetta, a compatibility system for 10.5 code. 10.7 does not, it will not run your present Rosetta/10.5 software at all, you will have to buy all new versions. Also older hardware likely won't work neither, like printers, scanners and all-in-ones etc as their drivers either won't get a update or they won't make one to force a premature hardware turnover.
If your upgrading your older 10.5 machine to 10.7, I'd advise against it, there isn't as much software ready for 10.7 (like 10.6) because it's forcing developers to rewrite their PPC based code
10.7 is slower and more glitchs than 10.6, more depressing gray all over and strange UI changes.
Also 10.8 is due out this summer and may not run on older hardware, so it's looking like you will be best off with 10.6.8 and leaving it at that to get the most software choice/performance and leave 10.8 for a new hardware/software purchase.
If your going to 10.7 anyway, then check this database to make sure the software your going to have to buy is ready or not. IMO, Lion for you and your older machine is a wasted effort and better the new software on a new hardware purchase.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
I must admit though I throughly hate OS X Lion, as do a lot of other people,  it's only because it's quality is absolutely terrible and unbecoming of Apple, likely why Mountain Lion 10.8 is being released this summer a year in advance and only a year after Lion. However my opinion about Lion's poor quality isn't relfected in my advice to you. For you it's more of a older hardware/have to buy all new software type deal which a newer machine with 10.8 and promises to be better/more refined OS than 10.7.
So in other words, upgrade to 10.6.8 and stay there, save your pennies for a new machine Early 2013, by then 10.8 would have several months and a lot of software/bugs worked out for it.

  • Satellite L350D-213 - Updating drivers on Windows 7

Bought Satellite L350D-213 mid Nov. Pre-loaded with Winodws 7. System auto detect on Tosh site shows that whole batch of new Windows7 drivers issued on 3/12/09. Was wondering whether I need to install all these drivers.
Up to now only prob has been webcam "locked by another application" which hours of web searching showed to be very common prob. Downloaded latest webcam driver issued on 3rd Dec. Cam ok at moment but only time will tell. Is it advisable to go through the whole list of applicable drivers or leave things as they are. Don't want to cause uneccessary probs.
    Any advice welcome.

    Hello
Its nice to read that your webcam works properly now and this would be also my suggestion to update the driver regarding this issue.
However, if your computer runs properly now I dont see any reason to update any drivers. Why you should do this?
I think drivers are only released to solve problems on other notebooks or compatibility issues so if you dont have problems you must update nothing. I can recommend never change a running system! ;)
So have fun with your notebook dont bother about updating drivers.

  • Updated Drivers / Proper OpenGL Support for T400/T500 Models with Switchable Graphics

    Dear Lenovo, Dear interested users,
when will an updated switchable graphics driver for Windows Vista (and also Win7, they are both quite outdated) finally be available? The drivers are completely outdated!
With the current driver for Windows Vista (Version 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C) only a fraction of OpenGL extensions are supported:
The internal Intel GMA 4500MHD can only Handle OpenGL 1.1 (instead of OpenGL 2.1 it is certified for). Therefore most applications needing OpenGL won't run.
The dedicated ATI Radeon 3470 only supports OpenGL 2.1 (instead of OpenGL 3.1 it is certified for).
You can verify this behavior with the utility "OpenGL Extensions Viewer".
I hope Lenovo didn't close the chapter switchable graphics for T400/T500 systems. It would be a shame for a company claiming to be a leader in business computing to deliver such poor driver-support.
In hopeful expectance of updated drivers,
    Patrick

  • Updating Drivers for video card?

I have a G5 Quad with an Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT video card (installed by Apple at the time of purchase). I wanted to see if there were any new/updated drivers for my card, but when I go to Nvidia's website the card is not listed, nor are any Mac drivers that I can see. I checked Apple's site, CNET Downloads, and Google, but I'm coming up with nothing.
How are the drivers for video cards updated? Are the drivers included in various OS updates? Am I just looking in the wrong places?
    Thanks.

Thanks, maclover. And thanks for the warm welcome
My problem is specific to a piece of software... I'm using Lightwave, and recently added FPrime to Lightwave's functionality. FPrime is a third party plugin, and is widely used in the Lightwave community.
The problem is that if I open FPrime before OpenGL renders the objects in a scene on screen FPrime crashes (hard)... it's like a kernel panic and my only option is to shut down and reboot. However, if I let OpenGL render the objects first then FPrime opens fine.
I'm an active member of the Lightwave community, and I've been in contact with the maker of FPrime regarding this issue. My question about drivers stems from the fact that usually if something like this occurs then it may be related to the need to update card drivers.
    Thanks agian.
