certain other standard XP/IE7 computers. All that appears is a
white screen. There are no errors on the screen nor in the error
logs.

  • Mail.app reading HTML messages - status line?

    Is there a status line or other field that displays the contents of an embedded link in HTML messages?
    If so, where is it, and how does one enable it?
    To be precise, what I am looking for is the equivalent to the status line that Safari displays at the bottom of a browser window where the user can view the contents of a link when the cursor is hovering over a picture or text which is a hyperlink to another document or website.
    Why I'm looking for this, is so that when reading eMail with hypertext links (HTML eMail) the destination of the link would be visible, so if someone sends me phishing email with a link that says "https://safeharbor.ebay.com/" and the actual html (which can be seen by using "View => Message => Raw Source") says something like https://190.121.43.66/cgi-bin/steal-this-password.exe?user=myname&email=user@exa mple.com" it is obvious that I shouldn't click on the link. Likewise, when load-pictures is off, I can hover the cursor over the graphic and see whether the graphic is just an image (http://www.site.com/picture.jpg), or is an image with a tracker attached (http://www.site.com/cgi-bin/showpic?email=[email protected]&image=picture.jpg).
    I was hoping this would be in the new Mail.app for leopard since creating HTML mail was available, at least in limited form, and Phishing is NOT a new problem. Also, since Mail.app uses the safari rendering engine to display HTML in eMail, it make sense that it could also display link info.
    SO, does it exist? Is there some magic key combination or hidden (well hidden) menu or preference option to set to see this simple link information? I know I can do it by viewing the raw source, but that is a royal pain in the a** to read all the gobbletygook, html, css, javascript, etc. that shows up in html pages. And maybe a good percentage of Apple users don't know how to read HTML anyway, although most do know what a URL looks like.

    How does one go back and EDIT a post to fix a typo, or other grammatical or formatting error?
    (My -- strike-through -- text was not supposed to be that way, and I see I'm missing the (") quote at the beginning. I likely put in a dash or two for offsetting it, but apparently that was a formatting hint to strike it out. Arrrgh!)

  • Problems with browsing on Safari and Firefox since Leopard upgrade ??

    Ever since I upgraded to Leopard, I am experiencing consistent problems while browsing. Both Firefox and Safari stall when I click on links or try to load pages. The browsers just appears dead and the loading icons just stall. Firefox is much worse than Safari with every 3rd or 4th click causing a stall. I have to wait about a minute before the click is recognized and the page is loaded.
    I thought it might be my airport connect but I have other Windows comps on the same network and they don't have the problem.
    I haven't seen any thread in the Safari discussions about this and can't find anything on the net about it either.
    Anyone know what the problem might be?
    Safari 3.1.1
    Firefox 2.0.0.14
    Leaopard 10.5.2

    There were no error messages in the console for the stalling. However after I plugged the ethernet cable into the Imac, the problem seems to have gone away.
    This is good but how can I fix the problem with my airport wireless connection ?

  • Problem opening browser after closing iTunes

    I just bought a refurb 60GB video ipod this week, dl iTunes - now when I close iTunes, I can not open a browser window without restarting my computer. I use FireFox. Any ideas?TIA
    Dell Windows XP

    Well there are millions of iPhoto and iTunes users, so it's possible that someone, somewhere has.
    There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
    Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Problem loading generated (X)HTML in Internet Explorer dialog window

    Hi,
    Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0.
    In our ADF application we are providing a preview functionality to letters that the users can generate. The preview XHTML code is generated by stored procedures and displayed in a dialog window as an iframe. This works fine in Firefox but in Internet Explorer there is only a spinning blue circle where the iframe is supposed to be and the preview is not loading. If I copy-paste the preview URL to a separate IE window it loads up correctly, so there is something wrong in the way the dialog window tries to display the data.
    This is the preview JSPX page:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
              xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
              xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
              xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
      <!-- jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/ -->
      <f:view afterPhase="#{backingBeanScope.RenderBean.checkPhase}">
        <af:document id="d1" rendered="false">
          <af:messages id="m1"/>
        </af:document>
      </f:view>
    </jsp:root>The preview page is embedded as an iframe on the dialog window:
    <f:facet name="center">
                <af:inlineFrame id="if1"
                                source="/faces/ActualTemplatePreview?messageTemplateId=#{pageFlowScope.MessageTemplateId}&amp;isOpenTemplate=#{pageFlowScope.IsOpenTemplate}&amp;messageText=#{pageFlowScope.MessageText}"
                                styleClass="AFStretchWidth"/>
              </f:facet>And this is the backing bean:
    public class RenderBean{
        public RenderBean() {
            super();
        private BindingContainer _b(){
          return BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        public void checkPhase(PhaseEvent event){
            if(PhaseId.RENDER_RESPONSE == event.getPhaseId()){
              final ResponseWriter writer = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getResponseWriter();
              try{
                final Object xhtml = _b().getOperationBinding("GetXhtml").execute();
                writer.append(xhtml.toString());
              }catch(IOException e){
                throw new RuntimeException(e);
    }GetXhtml method is defined in the application module and calls the stored procedure which generates the code.
    Any ideas what might be the problem? I read some older threads about Internet Explorer having problems with MIME types when displaying PDF inline (see e.g. {thread:id=2361293}), could this somehow relate to displaying (X)HTML code too?
    Regards,
    Joonas

    Could be something with an IE conditional statement in the code used to place the Flash on the Web Page. Post a link to the page and let us take a look.

    I'm facing problems while browsing anything through my BlackBerry Brower. The error I get is: Hello Everyone,
    I'm facing problem while browsing anything through BlackBerry Brower. The error I get is: “Timeout occurred while processing the operation.”

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
    I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
    KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
    KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

    But i dont know how to use it in my problem. If any one know how to do it. reply this.If you have a big, long string with HTML content in it you might try splitting on a regex like so:
    String html = ...
    String[] imgTags = html.split("<img.*?>");[http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#split(java.lang.String)|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#split(java.lang.String)]
    to get your image tag data and then parsing that to get the src attribute. You can either treat this problem as a big string-parsing problem, or getting some HTML DOM library and using that to structure the page as a tree for easier access.
    If you want more help you'll have to show the code you have so far. We can't write this for you.

  • Problem with ImageIO.read and ImageReader JPG colors are distorted/wrong

    (Using JDK 1.5)
    ImageIO incorrectly reads some jpg images.
    I have a jpg image that, when read by the ImageIO api, all the colors become reddish.
            try
                java.awt.image.BufferedImage bi = javax.imageio.ImageIO.read( new java.io.File("javabug.jpg") );
                javax.imageio.ImageIO.write( bi, "jpg", new java.io.File("badcolors.jpg") );
                javax.imageio.ImageIO.write( bi, "png", new java.io.File("badcolors.png") );
            catch ( java.io.IOException ioe )
                ioe.printStackTrace();
            }Why is this happening??? My guess is there is a problem with the ImageIO.read ?
    the jpg can be downloaded at http://www.alwaysvip.com/javabug.jpg
    <BufferedImage@11faace: type = 5 ColorModel: #pixelBits = 24 numComponents = 3 color space = java.awt.color.ICC_ColorSpace@1ebbfde transparency = 1 has alpha = false isAlphaPre = false ByteInterleavedRaster: width = 1691 height = 1269 #numDataElements 3 dataOff[0] = 2>
    I have even tried creating a new buffered image but still have the same problem:
    (suggested by http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=20&threadID=665585) "Java Forums - ImageIO: scaling and then saving to JPEG yields wrong colors"
            try
                java.awt.image.BufferedImage bi = javax.imageio.ImageIO.read( new java.io.File("javabug.jpg") );
                java.awt.image.BufferedImage out = new java.awt.image.BufferedImage( bi.getWidth(), bi.getHeight(), java.awt.image.BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB );
                java.awt.Graphics2D g = out.createGraphics();
                g.drawRenderedImage(bi, null);
                g.dispose();
                javax.imageio.ImageIO.write( out, "jpg", new java.io.File("badcolors.jpg") );
            catch ( java.io.IOException ioe )
                ioe.printStackTrace();
            }I have used the following which works but does not use the ImageIO api. However, I tried using the ImageIO to write and it worked for writing which leads me to believe there is a problem with the reader.
    (suggested by http://developers.sun.com/solaris/tech_topics/java/articles/awt.html "Server-Side AWT")
            try
                java.awt.Image image = new javax.swing.ImageIcon(java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("javabug.jpg")).getImage();
                java.awt.image.BufferedImage bufferedImage = new java.awt.image.BufferedImage( image.getWidth( null ), image.getHeight( null ), java.awt.image.BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB );
                java.awt.Graphics g = bufferedImage.createGraphics();
                g.setColor( java.awt.Color.white );
                g.fillRect( 0, 0, image.getWidth( null ), image.getHeight( null ) );
                g.drawImage( image, 0, 0, null );
                g.dispose();
                com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGImageEncoder encoder = com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder( new java.io.FileOutputStream( "goodcolors.jpg" ) );
                encoder.encode( bufferedImage );
                javax.imageio.ImageIO.write( bufferedImage, "jpg", new java.io.File("goodiocolors.jpg") );
                javax.imageio.ImageIO.write( bufferedImage, "png", new java.io.File("goodiocolors.png") );
            catch ( java.io.IOException ioe )
                ioe.printStackTrace();
            }BTW, the following does not work either:
                java.util.Iterator readers = javax.imageio.ImageIO.getImageReadersByFormatName( "jpg" );
                javax.imageio.ImageReader reader = ( javax.imageio.ImageReader ) readers.next();
                javax.imageio.stream.ImageInputStream iis = javax.imageio.ImageIO.createImageInputStream( new java.io.File("javabug.jpg") );
                reader.setInput( iis, true );
                java.awt.image.BufferedImage bufferedImage = reader.read( 0 );

    I figured out the problem. It was an actual BUG in the JDK!
    The code failed with the following JDKs:
    java version "1.5.0_01"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_01-b08)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_01-b08, mixed mode, sharing)
    java version "1.5.0_03"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_03-b07)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_03-b07, mixed mode)
    The code ran sucessful with this JDK:
    java version "1.5.0_06"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)
    If you are using the ImageIO classes, I highly suggest you upgrade to the latest JDK.
    Best,
    Scott
