Problem with DiscussionGroups iView

Hello Yogi/Robert,
I have a problem with my discussion groups iview.
I am using the discussion groups iView, and layout set is DiscussionGroupsContributor. The iView is using the /discussiongroup folder to store the discussions created.
Here's the problem: all the discussions created are stored in the same folder, and every new room created is able to view the same discussions.
I want to be able to restrict discussions to different rooms, so that members of one room cannot view/read the discussions from another room.
Please,how can I get this done...it is very urgent!!!

Hi Collins,
have a look on how the room template "SAP_Standard_Template_2 (Read only)" is configured and configure your template in the same way.
You need two Room Extensions, one for the DiscussionPermission and the second for Discussion Persistency. In the second a preconfigured room extension CM store is used (here cmDocuments with the label "Documents"). The output parameter "discussion_path" is mapped on the Path parameter of the RoomDiscussion iView on the RoomDiscussion Page.
So the sentence "<i>For data for discussion groups inside rooms, the system determines the path to the storage folder automatically.</i>" is only correct if you work with room extensions as mentioned above.

if in fact this is the case, then I would expect that the single iViews are called via different threads. If this is the case, then I would implement within the iView to wait for some result provided by the iView, which should be loaded first (for example, by putting some certain value into the http session object).

Problem with URL iView regarding fetch mode and SSO to non-sap webapps

Hi,
I have created an URL iView which opens an internal webapp. When the fetch mode is set to client-side the page is displayed for the user. But when I set the fetch mode to server-side, the page cannot be displayed by the user.
No proxy is needed. I tried to open the wepapp direcly on the portal server without any problem. Are there any additional points to be considered?
On the other hand I want to realize SSO to this webapp (form based authentication) with user mapping. Is it correct, that I have to user server-side fetch mode, when I want to use the POST request method?

Have a look at System Administration - System Configuration - Service Configuration - Applications - com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice
This is used to do the Server side fetch.

Client Eventing Problem with URL Iview

Hi,
I am new to EP and have a basic client eventing question. We are trying to integrate a URL Iview from a partner product with a standard Iview downloaded from Iviewstudio. This standard Iview is capable of handling client events from other Iviews in the standard package. We want to re-use this Iview with the same event (same functionality) to be able to handle events from the partner URL Iview.
The partner Iview and our portal are on different servers.
We are using the following Javascript but it doesnt seem to raise the event.
EPCM.storeClientData('urn:com.sap.bor:BUS0010','objid',LocId));
EPCM.storeClientData('urn:com.sap.bor:BUS0010','AllKeys','objid');
EPCM.raiseEvent('urn:com.sap.bor:BUS0010','select','','/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/...'
We were able to debug and find that the data was being stored in the Data Bag. However the event is not being raised at all. It seems that it just gets stuck somewhere in the Raise event. We even put a javascript alert after the raise event but it doesnt seem to reach there at all.
Could you give me a few pointers as to what the problem might be.

let's have a look at two quotes of the PDK documentation.
"Using the EPCF from your JavaScript, you can send messages to JavaScript code embedded in other iViews."
"Isolated iViews are iViews that are not inlined into a portal page, but referenced using an IFRAME. To make the EPCF available in such iViews, the EPCF JavaScript as well as the EPCF applet are included into each generated frame."
From my point of view, this only can work automatically with content provided by the portal.
Therefore, this can't work with isolated URL iViews generated with the wizards. Imagine a google iView, running in an iFrame. Google is called by the portal, but it's simply standard google HTML output - displayed in the portal.
To provide the capability of the EPCF, the epcf javascript file has to be included in the "partner URL iView"'s source. I tried this and it worked. However, this is not a highly sophisticated solution
If the partner iView's server is running in a different domain, there are further issues to be considered (keyword: java script origin policy)
If anybody has corrections or can provide a good solution, don't hesitate.

Explorer 6 problem with WD iViews

Hi all,
This is my problem:
I have a page with 2 WD iViews and when I try to display this page in IE6 as a part of portal (the page is linked to workset that linked to role) there is a javascript error and WD application can't be displayed -I see just the empty space...
It's looks strange becouse it's doesn't work only when I try to connect to portal with full domain url (http://portaltst.mycompany.co.il:50000/irj/portal) and it's work fine when connecting without domain
(http://portaltst:50000/irj/portal)
Simple WD iView as a part of portal is working fine (with or without full domain name)...
In IE7 all WD iViews (as a part of page or not) are ok.
I'm working with EP7.0 SP15.

Collaboration Room Template problem with Roominformation iView

Hello all,
I'm trying to make a custom collab room template, but I'm having troubles with the Roominformation iView. It always gives me an error

What I've done is copied the Room information extended iView , paste it in a page, assigned that page to a the collabroom workset.
Is there perhaps some configuration I have forgotten ? If so, where do I have to do the configuration ?

Problem with uwlSapLaunch iView

Hello everyone,
I would like to configure UWL so that it launches workitems in Windows SAP GUI instead of HTML GUI. For this I want to change a parameter in the uwlSapLaunch iView, as explained here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/0a/ad68c125ae496f8c04a25090bd2e3c/frameset.htm
But as per our standards I am not supposed to modify an SAP standard iView. Therefore I copied all the UWL iViews found under portal_content/every_user/general/uwl as delta links into one my own folders, and I changed the UWL service parameter "Path to the UWL iViews" to point to that folder. In that folder I did the change on the uwlSapLaunch iView.
The problem now is that when I click on a workitem in my UWL it still tries to execute it in webgui. And since we have no ITS installed on our backend (6.20) it gives an error message that shows clearly that it is still pointing to the standard SAP iView. Here is the error message:

iView : pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/uwl/com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.uwlSapLaunch
Component Name : com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction"
So I assume the issue is that the main UWL iView is not always using the "Path to the UWL iViews" parameter...
Anyone has an idea on how to solve this? Maybe there is a fix from SAP? I searched oss and this forum but didn't find any relevbant info about this.

uwlSapLaunch can't be called directly with the preview function if that's what you mean.
I have my own delta copy of the main UWL iView (pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/iViews/com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.iviews/com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.uwl_iview) included in my own page, workset and role. The role is assigned to me. When I execute it from there I am getting the error.
When I execute directly the standard one with the preview function, I am getting the same error.

Problem with Generic iView Lists in EP6

Hi,
We are in the process of migrating our portal from EP5 SP5 to EP6 SR1. I have a page that has 9 iViews on it, and there are 5 of them that are generic iView lists. In EP5, everything works great. Each generic iView list returns the information relating to that iView. But in EP6, I am running into a problem.
When I am trying to load the same page, some of the iViews to not work. So I recreated the query iViews using the SAP delivered "com.sap.pct.hcm.eeprofilegenericiviewlist" template in EP6. I go back to the page and the same thing happens. I try refreshing the page, and then more of the iViews work, but now another problem arises.
Example: I have an iView that displays the salary data of an employee, and another that displays the Home Address. I refresh the screen and the Salary Data iView works fine, but the Home Address is now showing the Salary Data information.
So, I'm at a loss as to what I should do. I know that there is a lot of configuration for the iViews now under the Property Editor and I think that I might have something that is not set up properly.
Is there documentation on what needs to be set up for the generic iView list if there are multiple generic iView list iViews on the screen?
I guess I should mention too that these iViews are in MSS and all work off of the Team Viewer. The team viewer iView is based off the EP5 version of the par, not the EP6. Could that be the problem?

Just thought I'd let people know I have solved the problem.
Even though I had created brand new iViews in EP6, they still act like EP5 iViews. So after researching the help files, I changed the isolation method of all the iViews on the page from Embedded to URL.

Whenever I access a transaction iView I get a blank bowser page saying Action Cancel.

Problem with Transaction iView when calling R/3(Personalization)

I have created several Transaction iViews , where I am calling different Backend Systems like R/3 , BW, etc.
My problem is , when I launch the iView, I can able to see the SAP Easy Access for R/3 , BW etc. But the language that user have in the backend is over writed by English.
In the iView properties, I have not selected any language.
In the Portal Personalization /UME also I have not selected any language.
But in R/3 I have selected "de" as my language but the R/3 SAP Easy Access showing only English.
Any advice please? should we have any settings in the portal without touching iview properties or portal personalization to view the backend GUI in the same language that is set in the backend profile?

Problems with MDM 5.5 SP05 Portal Content - ResultSet iView

Hello Experts,
We are having problems with standard iViews from MDM 5.5, more specific with ResultSet iView. We created an iView using English as default browsers language but our client wanted it in Portuguese, so in the MDM Repository both languages were defined and used in MDM Data Manager, when passed to the Portal iView an error occur, but only in a ResultSet iView from the MDM Portal Content, the others iViews (itemDetails, PicklistSearch, etc...) are shown in Portuguese, and we cannot figure out why it works fine in English and not in Portuguese. We left the default language defined by clients browser. Below Im sending the LOG, which by the way, doesn't help much, but I put it also here. Any ideas of what should I do ?

sorry to disturb you with this issue, can you explain me basic steps in order to setup standard MDM iviews from the portal?
I mean, I have already installed all standard mdm business content, and also have configured system and aliases in the portal to connect to my mdm repositories. Those system/aliases are working propperly.
But, when I try to preview standard MDM iviews/pages I got several JAVA errors in trace logs.
Specific iviews are: Item Details, Show products, etc..any iview execution fails.
So, am I missing something?, do i have to create a specific user in portal?, assign specifi roles or groups???.
Platform is: nw2004s SR2, SP11, MDM content 5.5

For this, we have chosen to work with Generic iViews.

Thanks for the reply. But my query was not regarding ESS in MSS.
Its about Generic iViews where you can fetch data using custom queries and user groups and display the same in the general information. I have attached the link provided by SAP below. There are mainly 3 parts to the config:
1. Creating of custom query.
2. Using FPM to add the generic iview for list to the perspective of the FPM appl of General information.
3. Then creating the WD iview of the added view within General information from content Admin and then adding the WD page to the General information page.
This is my comprehension of the steps provided. However there is one of the link within the Portal Content Admin that does not work.

Problem with JavaScript in URL iView

I am facing a problem with javascript when i am trying to access my application through URL iView. In the javascript window.top is used to access the frames in the window. But the EP is not recognizing it as valid. what exctly the problem and please suggest me a solution.

thanks for the quick reply. But what i asked was different. I will put it in different way. I have deployed a application in Web Application Server and trying to access it through URL iView. My application is pure J2EE application with html,jsp and JS files. In javascript we used window.top property of the java script which is working fine MS IE. The problem is window.top is a IE specific property which is not having any equallent open standerd so EP is throwing a java script error. As I know the only possible solution for this problem is inherating IE rendaring capabilities to iView(i.e iFrame). is there any way to do that?
