It seems to work ok with regular printing but when I tried to print some photos the results were weak faded colours and some vertical lines that should not be there. I tried cleaning the cartridges both manually and mechanically with no good effect. Anyone have any other suggestions please. Thanks

Suggest that you also crosspost in the Printing & Faxing Forums. You should get more responses there.
Also, have you contacted Lexmark and/or visited their website to determine if you need a driver update?
Have you considered updating your OS?

Assuming that the HP software is up-to-date, but still not working, have you tried Image Capture in the Applications folder. Does that work?

Dont know why it should be but when I went into file,>print >advanced nad then from copies and pages to colorsync it produced much better results- no vertical lines. For some reason the tick wont stay there ???It goes back to copies and pages once I leave that window . There are quite a few options there, can anyone explain what they do?Thanks

I then decided to try and reload the Canon printer drivers and for some silly reason I deleted the existing Canon printer drive. Now I cannot load them from the CD provided with the printer or from downloads through the Apple store. If anyone out there could help me I would be greatly appreciated......

These Canon printer/scanner drivers from Apple - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899 - should work. The MP250 is listed on the support page. Try downloading and installing them.

Problems with color matching when printing...

Hi, I work for a small family business in the P.O.P. industry. We currently have myself and one other designer, we both take illustrator files that have come from the graphic design firm that we contract with and get them ready to print on our Vutek QS3200. However ever since acquiring the printer we have begun to run into problems with the colors when printing. When the files are exported off of my computer, I use either .tif or .pdf files, they print as they should, the colors seem to match the proof and everything goes smoothly. However when the other designer exports a file, he tends to do mainly pdfs, the colors tend to be extremely different from where we want them. Also we will get very strange results, such as yesterday he kept getting a faint yellow 1/2" border around his prints. After I believe 3+ hours of him trying, I was given the original CD and instructed to try. After 15-20 minutes of making the changes that we needed to make (adding a new price point) and ripping, mine printed perfectly.
We both use Macs, both have CS3 Design standard, only differences between the computers are mine is newer and a bit faster, and I'm running OS 10.5.6 and he has 10.4. He has also at some point loaded various color profiles, whereas my CS package is just whatever the default is when I loaded it. When we were being trained he grabbed the color profile off of the Colorburst RIP server and loaded onto his computer, plus I believe he has a couple for freelancing purposes on there as well. My thought is that these profiles are somehow corrupting the files that are going through that computer, but I honestly am lost with it at the moment. He believes the problem lies within the fact that he does not have the newer OS, I honestly cannot see that as having any effect on this at all. I was wondering if anyone has run into any similar problems, or if anyone might have any advice on this issue? I would really like to be able to solve this, as I was hired to do mainly structural design for the P.O.P. and I'm having to put in a lot of overtime to get my work done along with the additional work that I'm having to do.

I've got a few years experience calibrating large format printers. First, the Yellow sounds like a file problem. I used to work with two workstations, one PC ( RIP station ), and one Mac ( file prep station ). I tend to agree with you in that the OS is probably not the problem. But, any Colorburst profiles should remain in the RIP, not in the originator application. My workflow consisted of creating EPS files that were based on established color settings in their given applications ( i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop ) which were interpreted by the RIP which had it's own calibrated profile ( perhaps more than one based on how many different substrates were being used ). Your partner may be complicating things by incorporating a RIP profile prematurely. If there are deviations big enough to be noticed, there has to be something in the application color settings that is causing some type of corruption. This could lead back to the operating system, but I would think it lies somewhere in Bridge or the application color settings. Start there. You should seriously consider implementing a calibration system if you do not have one already. Another slight possibility is the driver's ability to interpret files coming out of Leopard vs. files coming out of Tiger. It may benefit you both to be in the same operating system dynamics, using the same driver versions and RIP profiles. At the very least, match everything that is currently working successfully and put them on both machines. If there is still a noticeable problem in color matching, then something is seriously wrong and you should call in a prepress profiling expert. Hope this helps.

I'm having similar problems with an HP OfficeJet 6500. One suggestion that improved the situation, but did not totally solve the problem, was to select "OfficeJet Pro L7700" for its drivers.
One other suggestion is to turn off the printer, then simultaneously hold down the "#" and "9" keys and turn the printer back on. This hot key seems to reset the printer to factory defaults, allowing you to set things up anew.
Finally, kvetch to HP. Their networking software clearly has problems in its relationship to OSX, but nobody on either side seems motivated to bring in a good therapist.

Print postcards from 'Pages' with a Lexmark C544dn printer?

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to print postcards from 'Pages' with a Lexmark C544dn printer. As far as I can say, I have correctly set all parameters, but the output is always blank. Any ideas? FYI Lexmark have been unable to help!!

Your trial with a full size paper tells the story, I think. Your ink is missing the post card. Try again with a small card. After initiating the Print function, make sure you are seeing the expanded Print dialog with the preview on the left side of the dialog window. Does everything look OK there? Paper correct size and orientation? Text showing where it should in the preview?

problem description : When I try to print a page containing coloured items the coloured parts fail to print. (The items are totally missing, they are not replaced by grey scale images) I have done all the usual things as per list:-
troubleshooting : 1) Rebooted my computer.
2) Disconnected the USB cable and reconnected it.
3) Changed the colour cartridge.
4) Examined the printer settings in the control Panel, colour is selected and all other settings seem normal.
5) De-selected the printer as the "Default Printer" and re-installed it.
6) Run software that checks the driver is up to date and it is.
7) Printed the built in test page "beautiful color made easy" only the header and footer print,no colour!

PS. I have owned my printer for many years and cannot remember the purchase date.

Hi - Go ahead and try the steps in this document. It will walk you through cleaning the contacts on both the cartridge and in the carriage. What can happen over time is ink residue can accumulate on the contacts preventing the ink cartridges from working properly. If this doesn't resolve the issue, try setting the cartridge with the nozzles face down on a damp paper towel for about 45 seconds just to resolve any problems with the ink nozzles.

Is anyone having problems with the new Xerox printer driver update from Apple? My 8700S is no longer working with QuarkXPress.

I allowed a System Update that included a Xerox Printer update. I am running a MacPro 10.6.8 with Quark 8.5.1 and a Xerox ColorQube 8700S. EVERY was working perfectly before the "update" but afterwards anything sent to the printer from Quark would stall the printer. I went to the Xerox website and downloaded their Printer Driver and tried again. Now I could print from Quark but I can NOT get to the printer window to change the type of paper, etc. So, the problem still persists.
Should I try going into Time Machine and trying to find the Xerox Print Driver in the Library folder?
Should I upgrade the whole system software? (I wouldn't mind doing that AFTER I get this magazine off to the commerical printer)
Should I upgrade to Quark 9?
Any help here would be apprciated.

As a general rule of thumb, I never install updates until I read its info and I am having problems with my current software. I hide the updates until I need them. Usually this happens when I update or upgrade my os. I don't fix what ain't broken is my golden rule.
It is possible that you need to update or upgrade Quark in order for your newer printer driver to work. First I would try the following....
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
If your printer does not work afterwards, update or upgrade Quark. If that does not work, contact the printer manufacturer.

Hp stream 8 problem with hp officejet 150 printer

Hi,
I bought a HP Stream 8 tablet(5801ca) two weeks ago and just buy a HP Officejet 150 Mobile All-in-One printer (CN550A) to work with my tablet. This setup is moving in a truck on the road, but I have never been able to set it correctly. Both devices have a bluetooth connection and I installed the drivers correctly (maybe not) but tried again over and over.
My problem is that I can connect the tablet with the printer, I see the printer correctly while printing documents, then I send the command to print, the printer starts up a printing cycle, but jam at the firt line. Nothing is printed and everything bug here. I have to restart both the printer and the tablet to be able to do something again with the printer.
I tried many times with different settings and different installation drivers (with CD coming with the printer and with the driver on hp website). Always had the same problem, then I tought the printer was not good, so I returned it and had a new one, same model. Still the same problem.
So is my tablet having a problem ? Or just some changes in a setting somewhere ? Or maybe, I can't even print on a HP Officejet 150 Mobile All-in-One (CN550A) with a HP Stream 8 Tablet (5801ca) by a bluetooth connection ?
Any suggestion or help would be more than welcome,

Problem with collate function to print booklets in Indesign

I want to print on A4 paper, two copies of booklets (150pages) A5 format. This job I want to do more (100-300 ) times.
I use ctrl+ P, copies two, in setup printer I use page size A5, output size A4, booklet printing.
If I print the document from CS2 version, I got two booklets on A4 papers, on left side of papers is one booklet, and on right side of papers is second booklet. I just cut the papers on half and I got two booklets. Next gluing the booklets is ok
If I print the same document from CS3 or CS6 version, with same print presets !!, I got two booklets, but one booklet is on both sides of A4 papers, and second booklet is also on both sides of A4 papers. I cut the A4 papers and must every half booklets put together.
Also with gluing is little problematic.
Please if someone know , where is the problem with printing? How to use print in CS3 or CS6 , to get result like in CS2 ?

As far as I recall, ID has never been able to do 2-up booklet printing from a 1-up file. I generally create a second document, then place the first one into it twice.

Discoverer Plus - Problem with Page Orientation when printing pdf's

Hi,
When printing pdf's in Disco Plus I have a problem:
My workbooks are a mixture of landscape and portrait pages.
I am printing the entire workbook and then using cutepdf to produce a pdf.
If I print to paper I get the correct landscape/portrait settings.
If I print to pdf then landscape pages appear vertically when I view on screen so that the text is running from bottom to top of the page.
So it is picking up th portrait/landscape settings from the individual worksheets but cutepdf has not realised that the pages are landscape so they appear on the screen vertically.
This was not a problem on discoverer desktop so I am confident that this is not a problem with cutepdf.
Any thoughts?

Problem With Business Object and printing job

We are encountering a problem with the application "Business Objects FINANCE", and we would need your help quickly.
In the application , itu2019s impossible to print Consolidated Subsidiaries nor the Securities Held. If we try so, the application freezes and we can't do anything but killing the application via the task manager.
Though, other states can be printed without problem.
We tried on several different PCs, and the problem occured equally on each one.
The version installed is 10.5, and we can do any tests that you think would be useful to diagnose problem.

check the export parameters of the event triggering workflow.
If there is a problem, try instantiating the object in your wf based on the key.
Also check if the wf is able to import the data.

Pdf reader X has problems with small pdf and printer with post script driver

Hi friends.
I have installed new Reader X and then i saw that, when i print a very small pdf with about 50 kb and i print it on a Laserjet 4000 printer the printer has problem with the amount of data that reader 10 produces.
When i install a Postscript driver for the printer my computer makes up to 3.5MB printer data from a 50kb pdf.
When i install a PCL driver for the printer my computer makes only 350kb from the same 50kb pdf file!!!!
When i install Reader 9.3 the 50kb file becomes also only 350kb on the printer with post script driver, and i can print without problems also.
my printer has 8 MB Ram and that should be enough for 3.5MB printer data.
But when i print the pdf with 1 side only, the printer created a side who is only filled with 50% of the text, then there comes out a second page with the message.....not enough memory in the printer.
i can not change the postscript driver to a pcl driver cause our ERP System can not handle printer with PCL drivers.
Can someone help me please.........are there settings in Reader X who can solve my problem ???
