Problem with the Workflow Notification Mailer

Hi Community,
Recently we have just installed the E-Business Suite release 12.0.4 from e-delivery.oracle.com for Linux x86-64 using the VISION Demo database, in order to see and test the release for a future upgrade of our Production environment.
The installation was succesful and we setting up the Workflow Notification Mailer with the data of our SMTP server in order to outbound notifications to that server.
Now, In order to continue testing that instance, we have just executed the scripts to stop de APPS tier and to start the APPS tier, and it seems that the workflow notification mailer can not establish network connection with the e-mail server (Exchange server) after starting the APPS tier.
The Linux server has defined in its hosts file the Exchange e-mail server, and from operating system, we can establish a ping connection.
Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same issue and I found that Oracle Workflow does not attach files. The solution is to create a table with blob, clob, ordsys, etc data types and reference to the file from a notification and a message.
I did an interface with java to read the document, and then put the link in the oracle workflow message. The link opened the file.
So, for any workflow development is recomended to use your own Entity-Relation Model, including the process number and the files attached to that process.

Problems with the new BT Mail on Firefox

I use Firefox and was having a couple of odd problems when either initially logging in, or once logged in swapping users, however on IE 11 it worked OK, well in a fashion.
In both cases the page came up, but with only the what's new, mail, contacts, calendar and settings bar visible.
After a bit of fiddling I found that clicking in and out of the " explore BT " arrow , top right, just above the BT Mail logo got everything working OK untill the next log in or user change, when I had to do the same again.
The culprit was Ghostery, which I use and like, to help with internet privacy in preventing tracking cookies.
It was preventing the " Omniture ( Adobe Analytics ) " tracking cookie !
After going into Ghostery and allowing Omniture, Mail is working reasonably well
So if you use Firefox and are having the same problem make sure that Ghostery, if you use it, or similar tracking cookie programs are allowing Omniture.

Hi Jig, thanks for that.
Agreed that the whitelist is handy however due to Ghostery reporting trackers for individual pages and giving the option to switch the trackers on or off , it retains the individual page settings, I prefer to set trackers, on or off, for each individual page, then should something odd occur in the future, a couple of clicks and a page re-fresh reveals if they are causing problems.
The two on this page which are switched off at the moment are Omniture no surprise and eDigital research, with no ill effects.

How to attach an Excel document with the Workflow notification?

Hi,
I need to pass an Excel document through workflow process in several notification nodes. Do you have any demonstration example which shows how to implement it? I found some threads like this, but nobody send me the example. I think I need the example's with Oracle Text and workflow 2.6.3 and an example inside Oracle Collaboration Suite(OCS) Files. I'm having problem with the latest official mail app of iOS 7.1.1

Until I open the mail app the email is not coming

You need to change the setting for the email account to push, if that's not an option then change it to download mail every x minutes. Settings>mail, contacts, calendar, scroll down to fetch new data & click on the email account & choose either push or fetch, then go back to the email accounts page, scroll down & choose the schedule for fetch - 15, 30 or hourly.

Workflow Notification Mailer continues to fail with a STOPPED_ERROR component status

We are running the E-Business Suite version 12.1.3 (Standard) on Solaris Operating System (SPARC 64-bit). Multi-Org enabled. We just applied over the weekend RUP 7 patch 18004477. We have several seeded and customized workflows running (HR, BENEFITS, GRC, AP, AR etc).
The Workflow Notification Mailer continues to stop in error with this message in fnd_svc_components:
STOPPED_ERROR - Maximum number of errors (10000) have been reached for this Service Component -> oracle.apps.fnd.cp.gsc.ProcessorException: An unexpected RuntimeException or Throwable occurred -> java.lang.NullPointerException
It only runs for a few minutes before ending in error.
I attached the last Workflow Notification Mailer log entries begining around where the component exited with the error above. I suspect that one of the error messages above is the problem. I can send more of the log if necessary.
Due the error message above regarding the maximum number errors we have updated wf_notifications and wf_items table for any rows that are 'WFERROR' to CLOSED status and to a mail_status of SENT. In wf_items we set the end_date to the sysdate for the items where the item type = 'WFERROR'. Despite this we are still receiving this error with the Workflow Notification Mailer.
Does anyone have an idea what is causing the component to shut down with this message? I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue that we are having.

Need help with Workflow notification mailer setup

Hi all,
I have the following requirement from my client:
"IT has a project request from the Accounting Department to automate payments for Canadian vendors. One of the things that will need to happen on this project is setting up the Workflow Notification Mailer in AP so emails can be sent to vendors notifying them of payment. We only want to support Canadian vendors – payment processing for US vendors will continue to be handled as it is today."
Please let me know how this can be done as I have no knowledge of setting up workflow notification mailer for a particular item.

Lot more information in Oracle Applications System Admin guide. To process messages from only a given itemtype you will use Correlation ID parameter of the mailer. But there are lot of other things that you should consider for such a set up. You would be having a build up of messages in WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue that you may want to manually take care of cleaning up.

How to schedule restart of Workflow notification mailer?

We are facing this issue in all environments including production;
Inbound IMAP Notification emails are pending in the INBOX folder of the mail box. These moves to PROCESS folder only after restart of the 'WORKFLOW NOTIFICATION MAILER' every 3 to 4 hours.
I have raised an SR with Oracle support for a solution.
For this temporary workaround of restarting the Notificaiton mailer, I want to know how can I schedule the automatic restart of the 'WORKFLOW NOTIFICATION MAILER', Please advice.

Error with the email Notification XPD Targeted Ideations

We are working with xPD in Portal 7.0 SP 16, we have configured portal with xpd correctly, first in Development Environment and it work fine, the problem is when we did the same configuration in QA Environment, because we are having problems with the email notifications that are generated within the Targeted Ideations. If we test in QA, sometimes send the email to 1 person from 5 participants that are in the Corresponding Targeted ideation. searching the logs we found the following error:

Edit Workflow Notification Mailer corrupting context file

Hello
Got a strange one here.
just installed Minipack 11i AD.I.4 on our live server.
came to clone it over and all seems to work to plan until i come to amend the Workflow Notification Mailer settings, i just want to add in a test address to send all workflow notifications to.
The second i press the next button my context file on the AppsTier reduces by 6k in size.
if i then try to shut the apps tier down it complains about the context file being corrupt.
Any idea's??

Workflow notification mailer hangs with status starting

Hi,
I found that workflow notification mailer process had failed to start. I started it manually by selecting the start option from drop-down box. Now the status shows as starting, and has not at all changed. On selecting the refresh option from drop-down menu, the next page errors out as invalid status.
Has anyone faced this issue. Thanks in advance.

Found the solution. The problem was with the IMAP and SMTP server configuration. Gave the correct names and it started working fine.

The notification with the ID of 43533 experienced problems when attempting to dispatch an email notification to the role ~WF_ADHOC-62. Subsequently the notification preference for the following users has been set to DISABLED. Please correct the issue and re-enable their notification preference.
so now i have to find out the log file for this notification error.I can get it under $APPLCSF/$APPLLOG directory starting with FNDCPGSC<process_id>.txt. But i dont know how to find out the process id.Can someone please assist me.

HT4864 I am getting a triangle with an exclamation point next to my inbox...it says: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account "MobileMe" or try again. The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in

I can send but cannot recieve email
This is the messege I am gewtting:

The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in to the IMAP server “p02-imap.mail.me.com” using “Password” authentication. Verify that your account settings are correct.
The server returned the error: Service temporarily unavailable

Also if I go to system preferences accounts and re-enter the password it fixes the glitch sometimes.

iCloud is not supported on Snow Leopard or lower, why bother to mention it?
The OP has an iCloud account, and that can not be opened without Lion or Mountain Lion (on a Mac), IOS5 or 6 (on an iPhone/iPad)

This isn't an issue. Notice the screen prior to the one that shows usage has an iCloud section and a Manage Storage button. For this button to activate ios needs to download a few kb from icloud. Switching back to this screen forces ios to download those few kb.

I have the same problem as the emails go to my iCloud account that I cannot access!!! I cannot answer the security questions as someone else must have set up my iCloud account. Nothing seems to work. It would be great if someone has some ideas as what can be done to recover the situation?
