Problem with version 8.1.1 deleting photos?

Hello, I just upgraded to iPhoto 8.1.1 and am having the first problems with iPhoto I have ever experienced. When I attempt to delete certain photos, the thumbnail remains. If I highlight the thumbnail, the information box in lower left corner references information on the event the photo is in, such as total size of the event and date range. If I try to quit iPhoto after doing this, it hangs and must be force quit. When I re-open iPhoto, the photo remains as if it was never deleted.
After reading many posts, I could not locate this issue, perhaps since the update is so new? Last night I rebuilt my library, as that sounds like the answer to most problems. After the complete library re-build, I am having the exact same problem.
I have about 19,000 photos that total 60 GB and have been using iPhoto for two years on the same iMac.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.

It will not connect and all of my saved and current games are wiped out. I want my money back, this game interface is pretty junk and operates like some ancient DOS program,,bug,bug,buggy. I assume you have either an iTunes or iCloud backup.
Connect to iTunes on your computer and restore iOS.
This will download (if necessary) and reinstall iOS. After it finishes, go through the setup process and restore from your backup.

For the forums it seems IE 11 isn't compatible with the cloud website.
You can get access to the router using other browsers or IE versions by disconnecting the ISP device from the internet port on the router and opening http://192.168.1.1
I don't recommend using software to configure your router or the cloud. Just my opinion
I like the classic firmware anyway.

Problem with version enabling tables with ric.

i have the a problem when i want to version enable tables having ref. int. constraits having delete rule cascade or set null.
Is it possible that i can't version enable the tables because of these constraints? How i could solve this problem if i want to keep the delete rule?

Hi,
We are internally creating a <table_name>_g procedure that transfers privileges to the necessary users. If you have a table with that name, it would explain the error.
When using ignore_last_error, it will skip the statement that is selected from the all_wm_vt_errors view. Sometimes, the statement can be safely skipped, while in other cases it cannot be. This procedure will always eventually complete when it is repeatedly called with ignore_last_error set to true. However in doing so, some required objects or privileges may not exist or be in an invalid state.
In your case, you most likely had to skip the 3 or so statements that dealt with the <table_name>_g procedure. Typically, these statements should not be skipped, but you may or may not see a problem with it due to a number of factors.
The best course of action may be to drop the trigger in a beginDDL/commitDDL session, and then recreate it in a separate session. Of course, only do this after renaming the <table_name>_g table that you have. Unfortunately, there is currently no way of getting around this naming convention.

Problem with versioning on iPod, backwards compatibility issue with iTunes

i apologize in advance because i'm sure this has been asked time and time again, but i did attempt several searches.
the search function is very muddled and does not narrow down the results very well at all
here's the situation.
from all accounts i've heard lots of people having issues with version 7 of iTunes.
i'm a simple kinda guy who definitely believes in the age old phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
so i've stuck with v6.
i recently got a new laptop along with my PC. so i downloaded and installed the latest iTunes without thinking twice.
i had completely forgotten about my concerns from hear say about v7 issues.
i plugged in my iPod and it proceeded to completely erase all of the media on it and then load all media that was on my laptop in place of it.
"well that's a cool new feature", i thought.
after my initial frustration wore off, i immediately uninstalled v7, deleted the .itl file and installed v6.
everything was all fine and dandy. v6 works perfectly on the laptop with no hangups.
here comes the issue...
i plug in my iPod to begin rebuilding my media onto it after the completely unauthorized deletion, creditted to iTunes v7.
as it autoplays and iTunes v6 opens i'm prompted with this error:
"The iPod [my ipod] cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.0 or later.
Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
i've attempted everything i can think of to completely erase my iPod of any "versioning".
- i reset it using the "select/menu" button method
- i reformatted it through XP disk manager
- i reformatted it through context menu in my computer explorer window
- i completely just deleted the "iPod control" directory in the iPod explorer window when clicking through the my computer directory
i'm at a loss.
i cannot figure out a way to get my iPod to function with iTunes v6.
and again, i'm really hoping to avoid going to v7.

I am guessing that you used your iPod enough with iTunes v. 7.x to update the firmware to the latest version. That being the case, reformatting your iPod won't "undo" the firmware update, so your only choice now is to update your iTunes software to v. 7.x.
FWIW, iTunes 7 is a vast improvement over previous versions of iTunes. I use it on both Windows and OS X, and without bugs in both environments.

Problem with Versions/Auto Save

Something is awfully wrong with Versions on my system. To note, this happened AFTER the 10.7.1 update, but I can't say whether it happened DIRECTLY after the update.
I've already repaired disk permissions using the Recovery Disk.
Here's the problem: on some files (locked or unlocked, by the way) when viewing older versions it doesn't show any preview of the file on the right side -- it's just empty space! When attempting to restore the file it gives the error:
"Unable to revert because an error occurred while trying to open this file's backup version."
Other files would take an eternity to restore -- or even to simply VIEW back versions. It'll give me the spinning beachball of death and after a force quit, the file would be hopelessly corrupted, giving me the error:
"The document xxxxx could not be read. The document does not have a valid format."
Christ.
Even newly-created files sare displaying this problem. I created one just now and it gets stuck on "Retrieving Backup versions from TIME MACHINE"
TIME MACHINE???? I don't USE it! WHERE and WHO gave TM authority to run 'in the background'? That said -- why is it acting funny just NOW? I've turned it off from the beginning and never touched it since. NOW it decides the wreak havoc on my system?
Anyone else having these problems??

Deleted me as a contact and then rebooted, then she text me and I text her back and I went right into the Spam again. I told her to tell TMobile this so then can maybe help and remove my number from Spam on their end.\

Problems with version sets

I have PSE 6. When I open a JPG from the Organizer using Full Edit and then try to save, I do not get the option to save the image in a version set (even though I do have the Organizer option checked). However, I noticed that invoking Full Edit also prompts the Organizer to say there is a new file in the watched folders. This "new" file is the very same file in the very same location. If I accept to add the file to the Organizer I get two thumbnails in the Organizer, both pointing to the same file on disk. If I do this then the "Edit In Progress" banner appears on the "new" thumbnail and the editor does allow me to add the image to the version set. I am sure that I did not have to do this before, I would expect Full Edit to just open the image, mark it in the Organizer as being edited, not try to add it back to the catalog and allow me to save the edit in a version set. What might be causing this behaviour?
I also have similar and I think related problems with RAW images too, but I am hoping that resolving the above will resolve the RAW issue too.

I should have said that I did try that but it still prevented me from creating a new version in a version set when saving. It is as if the editor needs to start on a copy of the Organizer's entry to allow version sets, as if the original is somehow "locked". Could that be possible?

What's wrong with my workflow? Reimporting deleted photos.

Can anybody offer some advice? I am sure I am neglecting to use a useful LR feature, or more likely there is something strange about my workflow that I should fix.
Normally I import photos from my card reader, copying to a local hard drive. I do not immediately delete photos from the card. I leave them for a while for a few reasons including temporary backup, and eventually delete them from the card when I need to reclaim the space.
In the meantime, whle processing photos in LR, I tend to delete the total clunkers as they're a waste of space (I am talking about total disaster photos, e.g. when I accidentally hit the shutter button with the lens pointed at my foot).
The next time when I import from the card, LR does a brilliant job of not reimporting photos that are already in my catalog. But it does attempt to reimport the bad photos I deleted from my catalog. Fortunately as I organize by date in the Import dialog, all these photos are grouped at the beginning and I can usually remember (or judge visually) where the batch of new photos begins. But it is pretty inconvenient and error prone to use the checkmarks to deselect the bad photos and avoid reimporting them. I am hoping to find a way to make sure I don't ever see these photos again, even if they're still on the card and I have deleted them from my library.
Any tips for a better workflow? My camera's native importing utility has a nice feature whereby it keeps track of which photos were copied from the camera, regardless of whether you still have that copy on your hard drive. Does LR have anything similar, or is there a better way for me to accomplish my goal?

PhotoGAP: I typically use the reject flag for these photos, but end up deleting them before my memory card is erased (typically because I am performing permanent backup and want them gone before the backup takes place). Your idea to move them out to a separate folder would remove the time pressure, as it would be easy to backup only the keepers without removing the rejects from the catalog. I may give it a try.
Ian & Dorin: I think you're right. Aside from backup, the reason I have been leaving photos on my card is rather silly. When I don't have time to sit down and post-process family photos and do JPG exports, my wife is usually on my back about seeing the day's session. Leaving photos on the card lets me just hand her the camera and tell her to view on the LCD, giving me leeway to come back and post-process when I have time do it properly. Still, I think I need to put an end to this practice. Dorin, your reminder about the "Make a second copy" feature was especially helpful. I will start using it to create a temporary backup until I do my permanent archiving, and I am going to move toward immediately clearing my card.

Since I installed the Itunes 11 version I can no longer print a jewelcase (Cd) and after burning a cd teherie is no index that can be read on the cd...

Problem with version sets in Elements 12

I have just started using elelments 12. I have been having problems with inconsistency in forming version sets. Some sets forms as expected. However, quite often after editing, when returning to Organizer the edited picture is not in a version set with the original and in fact is not even visible. I can get to the edited version only through the "Open" tab in the Editor. I have check the appropriate "Save in version set" in the save menu. Suggestions?

The source of the problem is not clearly found today. It seems that happens on previously converted catalogs.
A workaround seems to have been found : killing the autoanalyzer.exe process in the task manager.

Problems with filesize after exporting and scaling photos

I gave digital photo frames as Christmas gifts and wanted to load them up with many years worth of family photos, so I exported hundreds of photos from iPhoto and scaled them down to roughly 400 by 300 pixels to be used in the low resolution digital photo frames. The files vary in size from 40K to 100K.
The entire folder of over nearly 1,000 photos is only 86.2 megabytes in size.
However, when I went to copy the photos onto a new 512 megabyte SD card, only a couple dozen photos would transfer before I would get an error message saying there was no room left on the card. The finder would show over 400 megabytes available, but if I tried to drag even one more 40K photo on, I would get the same out-of-room error message.
I tried reformatting the card several times and several ways (including disk utility), but same problem. So I tried different SD cards, but same result. I tried CF cards, but same result. I tried different card readers, tried dragging the photos over one at a time, tried copying them with PhotoMechanic, tried doing it all from a different Mac, but always the same result.
It seems like there must be some hidden files being copied along with the photos that are taking up that extra space on the card. Never had anything like this happen before. It only affects these files that were exported through iPhoto 6.0.5 and scaled to a smaller file size. So I'm sure the problem must be there.
Has anyone had anything like this happen before? The organization and editing of all these photos took many hours so I would love to find a solution without having to start the entire process over.

I found a solution--though I don't understand why it works.
I was dragging photos (either in a group of hundreds of photos or individually) onto the card so they resided on the top level of the card's system heirarchy. That's when I would always get the "out-of-room" error message.
But when I inadvertantly dragged the entire FOLDER full of hundreds of photos onto the card, it worked fine. I guess the card structure allows for a folder full of hundreds of photos, but not those same photos when they are not in a folder.

I have much problems with version 7.0 three days ago, this doesn´t load pages always says " server no found it" or pages stay on load forever, it besides is so slow. I don´t like this new version. What can i do?
