  • Problems with permissions in Acrobat 9.1

I´m having problems with the edition permissions in acrobat 9.1 pro extended.
I´m trying to stamp a FDF with corrects values into a PDF with security and changes allowed to fill in forms.
    the problem is this:
I choose a permission password and a level of changes allowed.
Then save and close. And my aplication to stamp the FDF doesn´t work.
But, if I open again the PDF and MODIFY the "changes allowed" to any level of them, It seems to doesn´t matter any of them while I modify it. Then save and close again... and... Magic! the stamp works.
I´m looking for an reason for this all the day. But I don´t find any explanation. I suppose that acrobat would make some changes each time the rectrictions are modified... but I´m not sure.
Does anybody know why could be happening this or what does acrobat exactly?
Thanks a lot if someone can help me.
and sorry for my bad english ^^

    Hello and thax for responding.
No, that was one of the first things we tried.
My helpful guy in the store went into Terminal and tried to figure out why all the files were tied to Administrator and needed Root password to move or delete.
Even the folder that he created via Terminal (he added a folder just to see what happended) got the + mark after it and was there by not able to move or add files into, without admin password.
I also used the 10.6 startup DVD to go in and try to reset the ACL for my internal SSD drive, but that did not seem to help either.
There is something about these files and disk that is not giving my Macbook permissions to change the info.
Can also maybe be good to know that before the disk crashed, I managed to use time maschine to back it up. I hooked up the disk to my computer, added another backup disk and backed up my Internal MacBook drive together with the (about to) crashing disk. Then I copied the info from this time machine disk on to the New Drive.
What I believe I need is to re-write the permissions on the disk so that not only admin are allowed to change the info but I have no idea how to do that.
Hope this gives you a little more of a clue what´s is going on and that you have an idea how to solve it.
    Thanx

  • Problem with permissions when upgrading to Yosemite...

I have twice tried to upgrade to Yosemite with the same results each time.  Once the installation completes and it goes through the final reboot to start the system, immediately upon start-up, it shows a dialogue box that says something along the lines of, "Yosemite needs to repair your Library." I do authorize it to do a repair, but it seems nothing actually happens.
Yet another problem is also immediately evident at startup, and that is that several of my folders are irrevocably locked..."I don't have permission."  This includes folders in my User Library, a folder on my Desktop which is vital to my work, and the Downloads folder.  If I try to go to the Get Info area to unlock it, in the Permissions area it says "Fetching", to see who has permissions, but it never stops Fetching.  And if I click on the "+" to add a user permission, it hangs and necessitates a hard restart.
Also, when opening Safari, it can't find Safari's keychain or can't access it, and it asks me to reset to default settings.
I'm thinking this all has to do with a bug in the Permissions, but I don't know where the bug is or how to address it.  I have gone back to Mavericks twice now, and I don't see any problems with the permissions on the Downloads file, for instance.  Also, it seems entirely random as to which files are locked and which aren't, which adds to the confusion.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type:  ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

  • Sudden problem with permissions

    Hello
Was working on an Indesign file this morning and when I came to open it again this afternoon I got this message...
    "Cannot open the document...
You may not have permission or the document may be open already"
I have no idea why this has happened, I've not changed anything in the system preferences to do with permissions and the document is definitely not already open.
I've tried quiting and restarting InDesign but that didn't fix anything.
Can anyone help? I really need to open this file again!!!

    Hi John
Started Mac up this morning and the InDesign file opened without any problems. Think it may have been due to network issues, as during the time I was working on the file the IT dept had set up access to a network folder on my Mac, so this is probably the most logical explanation. I've not accessed the network folder this morning and the InDesign file has been ok.
    Thanks!

  • Problems with PERMISSIONS VERIFY

Hello. I'm using Panther 10.3.9 and I'd never seem to have problems with my permissions verify utility until yesterday when a message appeared saying: "disk utility has lost it's connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility". I've done this several times but the message keeps appearing once and again, and of course, no permissions verify task done. I've run Norton, Diskwarrior and Cocktail, and nothing seems to fix the problem. Can someone help me please???

  • Problem with permissions on files brought down from server

We have 19 new macPros running 10.5.2. Users log in as a standard users. They often have a need to move files down from a NAS on the network and then pass those file onto another department for additional work and output. Unfortunately, even though the user is listed as the owner of the file the group and guest are set to read only and the permissions are locked and the user cannot unlock the file permissions without an administrator name and password (which we would rather not give them). We did not have these problems with Tiger. Anyone know what is going on with these permissions?
This is happening on all the machines? Is this normal or is there a problem with the installation? The machines were all imaged using the same software.

I guess we're the only ones?
What make is your NAS Alex?

  • Problem with Permissions while accessing Portal Content

    Dear All,
Im facing some problems with the permission in accessing the portal content.
When i right click on any of the folders in the catalog displayed under the System Administration - > System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Content directory provided by SAP . I get the following Menu options on right click -> NEW -- > Folder, Change ID, Copy, Delete.
I dont get a option such as NEW --> System(from template) which is important to configure the ABAP ECC 6.0 System with the EP 7.0 to enable logon through  the Portal to access the ABAP  Database through Web browser.
I have installed EP 7.0 JAVA stack alone separately and ECC 6.0 ABAP stack alone separately.
I have tried assigning System Admin Role, Super User Role, Group as Administrators. But nothing seems to work.
Im not sure of the roles to be assigned.
    thanks,

  • Problem with permissions after NOT installing 10.5.3

A few weeks ago when Software Update asked me if I wanted to install 10.5.3 I said no, since I wanted to wait for a while to see if there were any problems first before I went ahead with it. According to Software Update, 10.5.3 has been downloaded on my computer, but not installed, although I can't find it anywhere.
Ever since then things have been getting increasingly weird. I thought I had most of the problems solved after booting from the Leopard disk and repairing ACLs and permissions. However, after I shut my computer down for the night, and rebooted the next morning, all my problems were back and a few new ones. Now I have to log in each time I reboot the computer. I have to log in each time I open Mail. I can't unlock anything. I click the lock and nothing happens. Time Machine has stopped working again and is no longer backing up my data. When I click on "Get Info" for my HDs or apps, Sharing and Permissions says I have custom access - all the rest is greyed out, and I can't unlock anything. I seem to have lost permission to make any changes! Very frustrating!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, I can access the Time Machine application.
Following up on your previous suggestion, even though I'm listed as admin in the Accounts pane, I thought it was worth a shot, so I followed the steps set out in the Apple article TS1278: "Mac OS X 10.5: Administrator user changes to standard".
After booting from my Install DVD, and resetting the password for the System Administrator (root), I restarted from my Mac, selected "Other" in the login window, and tried to log in as System Administrator (root) with the password I'd chosen, but it wouldn't log me in. All that happened was the login window trembled a bit, then cleared, and that was that. I tried a number of times, with the same result. Do you have any idea what I can do to correct that? Because it sounded like the process described in this article could very well fix my permissions problems.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Problems with permissions when backing up to external hardrive

I have two external hardrives. One I use for time machine, and the other I just copy and paste my computer's hardrive. I like to have a couple back up locations.
The problem: Lately when I try the copy and paste operation it gets started then inevitable halts with the message, "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access "Keychain Access.app".
I've run "repair disk permissions" and erased everything on the external before starting. Same problem. Any ideas?
BTW, the Time Machine backup to my G-drive has not experienced this problem.

You need to use dedicated cloning software such as Carbon Copy Cloner and not just copy/paste.

  • [Solved] Problems with permissions for a script

Hi I realize the topic "permissions in Linux" is something that you can find very easily in the internet but I cant seem to figure out a solution for my problem.
I currently have a working script (taken from the ArchWiki) which enables me to change my display brightness. However I must be either superuser or root to be able to use it since it sends commands to the necessary devices.
I am currently using fluxbox as "desktop environment" and I want to be able as normal user to change the brightness without calling "sudo" everytime. I have also bound the necessary keys in the fluxbox/keys file to send the necessary commands to the script so my only problem is now with the permission.
    Every help is much appreciated
Last edited by Triver (2011-12-13 17:34:41)

ok it works that way (at least when I execute the additional script which contains the sudo command).
for some reason fluxbox doesnt react when I press the keycode that I looked up with xev (although it works with a combination like "Mod4 b: exec ~/script")
anyway I think I'll stick with that solution and add some additional commands in the script (like toggle wlan on/off), thx for the quick help
edit: ok now I'm having difficulties with extending the script
I want to add additional paramters so the script can be used multifunctional depending on the parameter you launch it with.
however he seems to think that the String which I want to compare with the parameter is a command.
    here's the code
    #! /bin/sh
    if [$1 = "brightness"]; then
    if [$2 = "up"]; then
//call the actual brightness script with sudo
    elif [$2 = "down"]; then
// call the actual brightness scrip with sudo
    else
    echo "invalid parameters!"
    exit 1
    fi
    fi
    exit 0
I execute the script like this
    ~/script brightness up
    but he only returns me
~/script: line 2: [brightness: command not found
so whats wrong with the code?

  • Rsync/unison to/with mp3-player, problem with permissions

    Hi,
I'm trying to sync my music database with my mp3-player via rsync or unison, but both complain about the mp3 being a read-only device (It's detected as a FAT32 harddrive, btw.).
The interesting thing is: It is not mounted read-only. I can copy music onto it just fine via e.g. thunar, only the two sync programs complain.
    What could be the problem?

The error messages are variations of:
rsync: chgrp "/media/path/to/file/on/mp3" failed: Read-only file system (30)
Seems like it's permissions-related, so maybe I should get rid of the "keep permissions" option implied in rsync -a. I'll try that and the udev rule, thanks.
Another thing: Unison takes AGES to check for changes (and I do mean ages, ~10s per file). Is that normal?
    [edit:]
    Another error:
rsync: mkstemp "/media/path/to/file/on/mp3/*.ogg.w7qqip" failed: Read-only file system (30)
I haven't played around with the rsync-options yet. I tried the udev rule though, didn't help. One thing is strange: the rule sets gid=100(=users), but all the dirs/files on the device are <mylogin>:root owned. Shouldn't that be <mylogin>:users?

  • HELP! Problem with permissions

    Here is my problem:
My computer has been acting strange, sometimes it will freeze, the screen will go dark and a message will pop up saying I need to restart. This could happen anytime in the middle of the siplest task, like ejecting a disk, or in the middle of using FCP. So I ran DW4 but whenever I run the permissions repair, I get the following error:
    File: .com.Disc_ribeR.plist
Detected that property list data is damaged and cannot be repaired
    XML Parser error:
Unexpected character V at line 1
    Old style plist parser error
Unexpected ';' or '=' after key in line 1
    Location MacintoshHD/library/Prefrences
    My first question is:
I think this problem can be solved by finding and deleting the .com.Disc_ribeR.plist file, but I can't find it anywhere. Is it hidden? How do I find it?
    My second question is:
What the **** is an "XML Parser" error?
My software is up to date.

Does Disc_ribeR mean anything to you, an application that you have installed?
I ask because if you delete that file it will be created afresh by the application that it refers to, but I was just wondering what that application might be. Is it part of Disk Warrior?
You can't see it in Finder because it starts with a " . "
    In Terminal type
    ls -al Library/Preferences
and you should see your file.
You could perhaps copy it, rectify the code in line 1 and fix it that way instead of deleteing it.

  • Problems with permissions on file-repositories

    Hello Forum,
i'm getting confused while i'm testing the differences between the acl/w2k security managers.
    My Konfig:
    Networkpath
    filehost\ep6
    user
    domain\j2ee
(this user has full-access to all docs)
then i configured 3 File-Reps, all pointing to the same share (
    filehost\ep6):
    EP6            no  security-manager
    EP6_ACL        acl security manager
    EP6_W2K        w2k security manager
                   (Portal-User mapped to the windows-User)
    I expect:
    - EP6     access to all documents
    - EP6_ACL access to documents where i have granted access to my portal user via permissions in the KM-Content
    - EP6_W2K access to documents where the mapped windows user has been granted access on the filesystem
    This is what i get:
All three Repostories behave in the same way.
    - my Portal User can only access Files, where the
    domain\user has been granted access
    - it seems, that the assigned security-managers didn't work
    - EP6_ACL it makes no difference if i assign restrictions to the KM-ACLs
    - EP6_W2K it makes no difference if i assign permisons for my windows-user on the os
    Where is my fault.
Do I have to deal with some caching-problems?
Do i have to use three different Locations on the filehost?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with permissions on Lion.

I am having a few different things going on with my macbookpro. On a different question I was told that the problem is probably a hard drive and I should replace it. However, ican not do that at this time since I am traveling.
The permission problem is this. When I try to download the update for lion and then try to install it I am told I do not have permission. I did run the verify permissions and then repair permissions. I did this twice . Both times itrepaired something. I also follow a suggestion fron Linc Davis on a different thread. This did not work. What I did do is login as a guest and then tried to download and run the updates. And yes under guest I can do this I have permission!
I would like to know how to repair the permissions in my admin account. If it can't be fixed then how do I make a new admin account?
As a side note when I attach my camera to upload pictures to iPhoto or aperture these programs will not recognize the camera as a device. I don't know if that is related to permissions again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have some other issues going on.
You need a fast relaible Internet connection so you can first Repair Disk and Reinstall just OS X, while command r booted from Lion Recovery HD/Partition.
Note: a few programs that have kext file in OS X at boot will no longer work afer Reinstalling just OS X, resinstall those programs from fresh sources and update. If you get a Gray screen or other hang, hold the Shift Key down to disable them and either remove the offending program (use their uninstaller!) or update it.
If you know OS X and the drive is good, then you can create a new User account in System Preferences and log into that to see if your problems continue, if so it's like a program or Applications area problem.
If it's isolated to the previous User account, try to locate what program(s) it occurs, corrupted files etc, if it's on the Internet or not etc.
