URGENT - Oracle 9i, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS Portal Installation Problem
ERROR :
1. Objects with type JAVA CLASS with more than 30 characters are truncated to 30 characters
2. There are only 30 objects with type JAVA CLASS are installed (instead of 334) mentioned on the troubleshooting guide
3. Oracle9iASHttpService automatically stops after starting the service
Environment :
Windows 2000 Server
Oracle 9i 9.0.1.1.1
Oracle 9iAS 3.0.9.8.2 (Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2a)
PDK Services for Java version 3.0.9.0.4 (from Patch used to install 3.0.9.8.2)
Patches 8.1.7.1.1, 8.1.7.1.5, 3.0.9.8.2
I installed the Oracle 9i, 9iAS, Portal and the patches based on the installation instructions (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/DOCUMENTATION/INSTALL_GUIDE_9I.PDF)
I tried adding the Sample Web Provider I got ORA-29531 error on HttpProviderDispatcher. Then I checked the Patch 8.1.7.1.1 installation, they are some scripts that need to be run that was not part of the 9i/9iAS installation instruction. I run the suggested scripts(catalog.sql, catproc.sql and utlrp.sql) and modified the jserv.properties to point the xsqlconfig.xml to ORACLE_HOME\oracore\admin.
The error still persisted. From the Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, one of the suggestion is to run the sql command :
Select object_name, object_type, status from user_objects where object_name like '%HttpProvider%';
which resulted to an object with name '/3334f18_HttpProviderDispatche' without the 'r' at the end
and
Select count(object_name) from user_objects where object_type='JAVA CLASS';
which resulted to only 30 VALID object. According to the installation instruction, there are supposedly 334 objects.
I checked the object_name of the other JAVA CLASS objects, all the names of the objects are all less than 30 characters. It looks like that the objects with the object_name > 30 are truncated to 30 characters.
Then I rebooted the machine, when the machine went back on Oracle9iASHttpService stops automatically after it has been started.
I have posted question on that thread and there is no specific solution from our problem. From the Oracle PDK Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, it looks like there is a problem on the Oracle Portal installation. I tried recompiling the packages and my problem worsened. Now I cannot start the Oracle9iAS HTTP Service.

Error: The portlet could not be contacted.
Portal and Login Server are in the same database istance.
I'have restared the http listener.
and the configuration in the login server points inthe correct place ..
What i have forget ..??

nullMike, the short answer is that I recommend you have a read of the white paper "Oracle9iAS Portal Configuration Options" which can be found on Technet at http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/1022doc_otn/portals.102/a90096/toc.htm.
The long answer is really long so I'll make a few comments. I'm a bit confused that you say that you can click on the "Mod PLSQL configuration menu" from the "http://myhost.mycompany.com/pls/portal30" page. Normally you would access the "Mod PLSQL configuration menu" from the default 9iAS HTTP Server page of "http://myhost.mycompany.com" so I'm assuming you made a typo with your cut and paste. A few suggestions would be:
1. Can you get to the http://myhost.mycompany.com page from outside the firewall?
2. Can you then click on the "Mod PLSQL configuration menu" and get to the 'Gateway Configuration Menu' page?
Getting to 1. is just talking to the Apache listener in 9iAS, however once oyu try to access 2. you must go through the Single Sign On Server and login. If you can;t get to the login page then you should rerun the ssodatan script as detailed in the above paper to make sure that all your configuration is correct.
Hope this helps,
Mick. -

nullSimply uninstalling the product through OUI does not delete the products ORACLE_HOME location. Because of the way OUI works, these
deinstalled locations are still listed in the OUI Inventory as being valid ORACLE_HOMES. The port query routine goes out and asks OUI for a list of ORACLE_HOMES to check for httpd.conf files in. If any of these ORACLE_HOME directories that have been uninstalled still exist they will be queried for an httpd.conf file. If the query finds one, it will proceed to parse through the file looking for Port and Listen statements. If at any time during this parse routine it hits an Include statement to a file that does not exist, it will result in the error shown in earlier postings.
The workarounds for this (for this build as the problem has been fixed) is to either:
A. Remove any and all deinstalled ORACLE_HOME directories.
B. Keep the directories but rename any httpd.conf files to some other name before attempting the install. -
Oracle 9iAS infrastructure installation problem
Hello
I am installing oracle 9i infrastructure on my new windows 2000 box with 1GB RAM and no oracle product preinstalled. in the end of installation process, some processes fail:
infrastructure instance configuration assistant
oracle 9i application server randomize password
single sign on config assistance
infrastructure mod-osso config assistance
OPMN config assistance
log file says:
Configuration failed for IAS
IAS Instance creation failed
Configuration failed for JAZN
JAZN configuration failed: unable to establish a directory context.
Configuration succeeded for IASProperty
Configuration failed for IAS
Configuration failed for JAZN
and then SSO etc services dont start. can somebody please tell me how to fix this.
ashishno. i had nothing installed over windows 2000 when i started installing oracle9i infrastructure.
the route problem(the point i could look into) is that the directory server(ldap) is not started during installation. is there any way we can reconfigure and start directory server after installation? as there is ssocfg.bat and ssoreg.bat for single sign-on..

Oracle Database 10.2 and Client 10.2 installation problem
Hi Everybody,
I am trying to install Oracle Databse 10.2g and Oracle Client 10.2 on the same server(windows 2003). I have few queries :
- Can we install both on Same Server
- Shall be install in the same directory or each in differenct directory
- Does each oracle database and oracle client has it's on oracle/home path
I installed the Oracle database and check it was working fine, I have also login through "sqlplus "/as sysdba". It was ok, all the oracle services were running perfectly. But when I installed the oracle client on the same server then all the oracle services were stopped and even when I tried to restarted manualy then got error, local user cannot start the service. Aslo not able to login thrugh sqlplus.
Could you please give your expert views.
Thanks in advance.
HarishYou can have as many Oracle Homes as your require, but you should be aware that each new Oracle Home modifies PATH environment variable, so the database could have been working fine until the client was installed, which has modified the reference to the database home.
You could modify it back from the server advanced properties at the windows control panel.

Oracle-xe 10 installation problem on RHEL4
I installed the oracle xe RPM package on RHEL4. Apparently it succeeded. There were no errors reported and the package is installed.
However the GNOME menu doesn't match what the documentation would lead me to expect:
"On Linux, click the Application menu (on Gnome) or the K menu (on KDE), then point to Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, and then Go To Database Home Page."
No such menu item exists after installation on the GNOME menu. Perhaps someone can tell me what command line this menu item is supposed to invoke so that I might invoke it via the command line, or add a menu shortcut for it?Take a look about all the items in the GNOME and KDE. In my GNOME menus Oracle XE is placed under item called "Other".
If you wish to start/stop and manage Oracle go to the "Services" and then look for a oracle-xe service.
From the command line you can do it with "/sbin/service oracle-xe start" and to stop it "/sbin/service oracle-xe stop". -
Oracle 10g XE installation problem on Ubuntu Linux, Oracle will not start
Hi,
After installing the pakages the error is when I call sqlplus and login as SYS :-
oracleXE: error while loading shared libraries: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
ERROR:
ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
What I have done:-
My system is 64 bit AMD.
I installed .deb package on Ubuntu 9.04 server. I installed the following packages.
1. ibc6-i386
2. libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb
3. bc
4. oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb.
The Oracle processes do not start after running /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start.
I can tnsping from the local machine.
dpkg -l |grep libaio gives the following:
ii libaio1 0.3.107-3ubuntu1 Linux kernel AIO access library - shared libI have been running XE on 9.04 (32bit on my laptop - 64bit on my workstation) and both works fine. I had no problem installing. I followed the directions in documents I found on Ubuntu forums and also google. The document I used to install on 64bit was from http://littlebrain.org
I remember using
dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio1_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio-dev_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio1-dbg_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb
and then I used the ./oracle-xe configure as root, the installation was ok - and I have even updated the APEX version to 3.2.1 on the XE installation running on my 64bit Ubuntu 9.04
hope this proves useful

Oracle EBS R12 installation problem in Windows 2003
Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle EBS R12 on Windows 2003 R2. I have installed cygwin along with required packages and also Visual studio 2005 as specified in the prerequisites of installation document.
All the validations are successful before installation but I am facing error during installation in Step3 at about 53 percent. When i checked the log file, I found that some of the files required for installation are not found in my staging area. Now I want to run MD5sum on the Staged Files.
I had downloaded md5sum_windows.txt and also run this command :
md5sum --check md5sum_Windows.txt > md5sum_result.txt
In md5sum_result.txt, I am getting error for all files. Error message is as :
oraAppDB\Disk1\data\driver\Disk1.drv
: FAILED open or read
This is repeating for all files. But i can see that the files are present in My Staging area. Do i need to set some permission for this. Please help. Desperately want to install EBS as part of perparation for my planned certification.

A simple detailed Step by Step Installation Document or any good reference for the same would by really appreciated.
Edited by: 855292 on Nov 26, 2011 2:00 AMI have downloaded all the 33 files in oracle edelivery site. I have seen a post of yours regarding Oracle R12 installation on Windows XP. It mentions only some 25 files. Please do not rely on the that thread as it was for 12.0.x installation.
For R12 (12.1.1) you need to download the following files:
From: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 1 of 4)
To: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) Rapid Install APPL_TOP - Disk 2 (Part 2 of 2)
Is it possible that contents of the zip file are lost during download because my stage area is about 39 GB . and also I have verfied all the files in edelivery site is downloaded too.
Also the error i mentioned in my last post, I can see the file in the directory but still its showing read error. Is it due to corruption of data. That would mean that I will have to download all 40 GB again :-(It is easy to verify the contents of the stage area directory without running md5sum, so please do so and post the results here.
Thanks,

Oracle 10g agent installation problem -- please advice. Thanks.
I am trying to push an agent from a 32-bit CentOS 4.5 machine (where I successfully installed EM Grid Control with Database & that's working fine) to a 2-node Oracle 10g Clusterware/RAC, each machine has 64-bit CentOS 4.5. The questions I have are:
1. Is this mixture of 32-bit/64-bit possible?
2. When I am performing agent install, everything seemed to work (with manual root.sh execution provision) but at the end it's giving a message
"Failure Preinstall Script Not Executed, Install Is Failed. Run root.sh Is Not Executed, PostInstall Script Is Not Executed. Collection Logs Is Success."
And I don't see any agent* directory anywhere in any of the intended RAC Cluster nodes -- also, no error message log!
Clusterware/RAC versin: 10.2.0.3
EM Grid Control: 10.2.0.1
I have no clue what are the meaning of these!
Can somebody please tell me how to fix it (no upgrade suggestion please)?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
I noticed that you'd like to install OEM Agent for 32bit on 64-bit machine.
Please look at the link below.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html#101x
Because OEM Agent on different platform are released separately.
eg.
For x86linux is Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip
For Linux x86-64 is Linux_x86_64_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip
So could you please install OEM agent version for linx x86-64 ?
but I can not find OEM agent 10.2.0.1 version on link above. Do you have this version for 64-bit ?

Oracle 9i Lite Installation Problems
Hello, I'm installing Oracle 9i Lite Version over Windows XP. When I'm connecting the mobile server (like an apache server's module) to the repository, I write in my browser:
and the response of the browser is: "The requested URL was not found on this server". Someone knows, what's the problem?. What's the mobile server name and its port number?.
Thank you.Jorge,
You can check the tnsnames.ora file for the Mobile Server name and port number. Once you find the correct server and port information, please point your browser to:
http://<Mobile Server>:<port>/webtogo
for the Web-to-Go home or
http://<Mobile Server>:<port>/webtogo/setup
for the client download page.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Does the new Garageband open files in older versions?
Maybe a dumb question, but I couldn't find assurance anywhere that upgrading to GarageBand 10.0.2 allows backward compatibility. If so, maybe Apple should tout this in all the ads, notices and promotion....
