Problems relinking media

I have a project working in Prores422 Proxy, I have online materiale with different file extensions such as .mxf and .mov.
The proxy and online files are in a similar folder structure, a mirrored file structure. The sequence is a mix of multicam and ordinary cuts. Before I try to reconnect I flatten the timeline.
I then select all the clips and choose Make Offline, and then Link Media. In the Link Media panel I choose not to match by file extension under match file properties. I then hit locate and find the first online file and hit OK. Premiere works for a bit, but when its done only the file I directed to the online folder is from the online folder, all the other files are in the proxy folder.
Is there a way to force Premiere to only look in the online folder? Any suggestions? It takes a lot of time to reconnect each and every clip.
My machine is:
  Modellidentifikator: MacPro4,1
  Prosessornavn: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
  Prosessorhastighet: 2,26 GHz
  Antall prosessorer: 2
  Totalt antall kjerner: 8
Nivå 2-buffer (per kjerne): 256 kB
Nivå 3-buffer (per prosessor): 8 MB
  Hukommelse: 16 GB
My Adobe version is: 2014.0.1 - 8.0.1 (21)

It´s the same machine as first posted, the file paths are:
Proxy: /Volumes/OiSAN/HBS/01_Materiale/01_HBS_Proxy/HBS_PGM101/DAG1/HBS_140901_SD_K2/
Online: /Volumes/OiSAN/HBS/01_Materiale/02_Onlinemateriale/PGM_101/DAG1/HBS_140901_SD_K2/
This is what I have tried and found out
In PP 2014.1 8.1.0 (81):
this is my relink choices:
some .mov files reconnects, .mxf don't. If I choose "Relink other automatically" only a couple will reconnect to the online material, 99% will remain proxy. If I try to "Locate", then "Search" PP will locate my .mxf but its not possible to choose "OK":
When I remove "Display Only Exact Name Matches" I can see the file and manually reconnect. Why dose not PP recognize the right file and reconnect to it? It should do this when its supposed "Relink other automatically".
In PP 2014.0 8.0.0 (169)
same relink choices. When I use the "Relink other automatically" the same thing happens. The first file is reconnected as a online file, the rest is proxy. But if I manually hit "Locate", then "Search", PP will locate my .mxf and its possible to choose "OK". It dose not show the file, but I know its the right file because you see the difference between the "Last Path" and (new)"Path".
With this "solution" I am able to reconnect to the online material, but it takes ALOT of time.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Problem relinking media with FCP6

    Hi guys,
I recently captured medias on two computers, recently upgraded to FCP6,
same settings, then I regrouped everything on one computer, everything worked at first, then no idea why, lots of problems to relink my medias.
Everytime I try to relink a group of medias, I got an error message, the attributes changed, and instead of relinking every clip I selected, FCP relinks only one, and it has 16 Audio tracks whereas there were only two when I logged in my project.
Do you know why ? I searched everywhere in the options, and didn't find anything to fix this, I don't know if it's a new bug from FCP6 or if there is a solution.
    Thx for the help.
    @+

Yes, you're right, importing the media works, the problem is that the project is huge, the editor logged like 1700 clips from 55 cassettes (in 1080 with the ApplePro Res codec, there are like 2.0Tb of data), and it the project has many folders and sub-folders, so unfortunately I can't simply re-import everything because it means the editor would lose all his classification.

  • CS3 Relink Media problems

I have a project that I edited two years ago... it's a Matrox LE, HD project. 1920 x 1080.  All of the clips are XD Cam HD.  (I know 1440 x 1080, but at the time, Matrox didn't have a preset for this...)  Upon completing the original project, I trimmed it down.
Now, I have all the files on an external drive.  I've tried to open the project, but get the dreaded unlinked media red page with Japanese characters.  The funny thing is:  ALL OF THE MEDIA is there!  I can actually go to the "drive level" and play back the media!  When opening Premiere asks me to navigate to the media... I do, but when it opens, it still appears as though MOST of the clips aren't there... two or three come up, and play back just fine in the timeline, the rest do not.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to alleviate this problem?

    Hunt,
I have tried relinking the media from the project window.... I have tried on single clips and several clips to RIGHT CLICK and then select "relink media".
I get the navigation prompts, it ALLOWS me to select a clip to relink, and then the nav box closes... the clip in the project window remains the same.  What other ways to do this are there?
As for the project file... well, you've given me a good idea.  I'll go see what I have in the "vault" of auto saves!  I am indeed using the project file as I've "control S'd" like crazy!
I'm using a project file that was TRIMMED down from the original in Premiere itself, using their tool to do so!  I've had GREAT luck with that in the past.  I'm a type A guy, so now I'll scour my drives to find the original project, if it still exists!
I am indeed using the Matrox card still... I have no idea what could cause this!

  • How to relink media in CS6

When I first open a project in PrPro it asks a strange request to relink media.  No files have been moved and all my media is on one hard drive.  I understand how to relink media but this is strange.  It asks "Where is the File "V1-etc, etc, etc?  I've never labeled a clip V1.
Could this be pertaining to the V1 video track?
Could this have happened if I updated PrPro, not thinking, with a Premiere Pro CC update on my CS6 program and this is causing the problem?
I have a timeline in PrPro that was worked on in Resolve.  In the timeline it shows all my clips offline.  But, in my bins, the clip that is shown offline in the timeline is ONLine in my bin.
How can I relink the media to get it to show correctly in the timeline.
I have a suspension this is a result of updating something I should not have updated.
    Dan you advise?
    Mandla

It seems PrPro created a bin as well.   There's no way I'm creating a bin labeled like this.  The one clip that you see is relinked was from me highlighting all the off line clips, choosing that clip to relink in the hopes that all would come online.  This labeling doesn't make sense.  I did have archived timelines labeled The Broken 527, but other than that nothing more.

  • Premiere Pro CC relinking media not working correctly OSX 10.8.4

Hi Running the latest build of CC on Mac running 10.8.4 having real issues with relinking media using the media browser. I cant seem to get it to search the directory I choose using the browser at all. As soon as I hit search it starts searching the whole system drive from Applications down. I doesnt matter where I point, even another directoty on the system drive it will go back to searching /Applications first. Also typing a path in the path dialog does not seem to work at all just errors. As a note our media drives are assigned using an NFS mount at / not using Volumes not sure if this is cause?
Anybody got any ideas as to why this does not work. Having watched several videos on the net which all seem to be the Windows version it all works as it should. Having to use the old finder way which results in several passes to find everything.
Any help here appreciated as we have to move projects around a lot and this is an essential feature we really need to work better.
    Simon

Im leaving the below just as it did seem to work until i loaded all my own stuff back in,
so if you can go without all your current prefs, works spaces etc then do the folowing,
if not (like me) then its still broken!
Ive jsut been on to tech support, if you delete the file called
    Adobe Photoshop CC Prefs.psp
    from prefs folder
    it fixes the issue,
so basically a clean install doesnt have the issue, its some kind of hang up with your presets for workspaces or actions of prefs.
    here's how the conversation goes,
Bharati: In Photoshop Window, click on Edit > Presets > Preset Manager
Bharati: Then export the presets before resetting preferences.
I did this and saved to desktop, (i re imported them at the end and the 'fix' still sticks so seems to work.
Bharati: please close Photoshop application and follow the below steps.
    Bharati: Open Finder.
Bharati: Click on Go > Go to folder.
Bharati: Type : ~/Library in the search field.
Bharati: Hit Go, it will navigate to the Library folder.
Bharati: From there, please open the Preferences folder.
Bharati: Just to confirm, are you using Photoshop CS6?
    dan: nope CC
    Bharati: Okay.
Bharati: From the Preferences folder, please open Adobe Photoshop CC settings folder.
Bharati: Then you will see Adobe Photoshop CC Prefs.psp file.
Bharati: Please drag the Adobe Photoshop CC Prefs.psp file to desktop.
    re start Pshop,
    test the problem,
    re-import settings, test again,
    relax..

  • Cannot relink media in Creative Cloud

I'm having trouble relinking media from a project created in PP 6.0 when opened in CC. The project opens with all media offline, but the connected external hard drive is not appearing in the media browser - which makes relinking apparently impossible.
    Any help appreciated.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply.  I took the time to get in touch with Adobe support via chat.  Just finding out how to contact them and then do  it was a real chore in itself.  The tech led me through the corrections with the problems in the temp directory.  It was a long and painful process.  In the end it got fixed and (after wading through a couple hours of installation routines) I have InDesign and the three other apps installed and working.  It seems to me that InDesign has a real problem here.  I was installing into a Win 7 OS that I had just clean installed on a brand new hard drive so it's difficult to understand why the problem occurred.  Just another anomaly in the world of bits and bites, I guess.
    Thanks again!

  • New EPG download problem in Media Center

I'm currently experiencing problems downloading the EPG guide in Windows 7 Media Center and Vista Media Center.  Over the last 2-3 weeks, the guide download has stopped working on all of my computers in Vista and 7.
The error code is 34 and this is caused when Media Center cannot establish an connection to the internet.
I have to connect to the internet via a proxy server/webcache.  I have contacted the network support people and they took network activity captures and
identified a problem with Media Center not respecting the proxy/webcache settings in Internet Explorer and hence it cannot download the guide.
Previously, this process has worked perfectly on the network and I am told no changes have been around the time the problem started.
This only occurs on a wired network. For the same computer connected via wireless on the same proxy/webcache, the guide sucessfully downloaded and Media
Center respected the proxy settings.  There are multiple machines exhibiting this behaviour.
Is anyone aware of any changes Microsoft has made to the guide download process over in the last month or so which may have resulted in this sort of
behaviour as this appears to be a bug in Media Center.
    Thanks
    elyoh

My Windows 7 Media Center was unable to download electronic program guides for about a month and a half.  I search all the websites and tried all the fixes to no avail.  I have an always on internet connection.  Tested my connection within
Media Center.  I tried to reconfigure my TV.  I tried alternate zip codes within my area.  Nothing worked.  First, I found that I had NRMBMCHandler.dll (9KB) missing from my ehome directory.  (C:/Windows/ehome/NRMBMCHandler.dll).
I replaced the file using a copy from another computer.
Then I found on the Microsoft Developers website instructions on Recovering a Corrupted Guide Data Store.
    1. Close Windows Media Center
    2. Open Task Scheduler (Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Schedule Tasks)
    3. In the console tree under Task Scheduler (Local), expand Task Scheduler Library>Microsoft>Windows>Media Center.
    4.  In the console window under Name, right click ObjectStoreRecoveryTask, and then click Run.
After that action is complete, open Windows Media Center.  A message pops up telling you that the system has repaired guide listings and the listings will be downloaded.  Check your recording schedule as the repair may have interfered with scheduled
    recording.
After that, problem with EPG was corrected.  No reinstall was necessary.  Hope this helps others.

  • Relinking media question

    Hi everyone,
    I am using CS3
I have a question about relinking media. I have some MXF files, which are quite long (going on for 2 hours) (these were captured on a Sony EX3 camera). There are 4 mono audio tracks associated with each video file. Although CS3 works with these files it is generally quite slow, and I was planning to render them to a native format (Matrox HD) and relink the assets. The render works fine, but I am only able to export the AVI file with stereo audio or no audio (these are the only options within Premiere). When I try to relink the asset, it won't do it, as the audio componet is different. Is there any way to force Premiere into accepting it with or without audio (I am using a remixed audio on separate channel so the camera audio is irrelevant). Or anyway to export 4 channels of audio (which I can then mute if necessary)
    Many thanks in anticipation.
    Daniel

    Hi,
I'm presuming that you mean that you don't think it's possible?

  • Problems importing media

Is anyone experiencing problems importing media? I'm trying to import to a project but FCP is making it difficult to locate my files, my stuff isn't organized, and EVERYTHING is being loaded from my Hard drive, my external hard drive, EVERYTHING, so it's difficult to locate which file i'm exactly looking for.

I believe today's OS update (for the computer, not the phone) has some Apeture fixes in it - have you downloaded that update and tried again?

  • Relinking Media

    Hi all,
I'm sure that this question was asked befor but unfortunatly I don't find the right post here.
I started editing a project on my laptop with mediafiles form a Canon XF. On the laptop, the footage is in a subfolder beside the premiere project file. Now I move to faster desktop computer and put the project file and the footage to two different drives. When I start my project, premiere asking me where the media is, thats obvious. When I remember right, usually I show premiere the path of the first media and the rest ist linked automatically. But now only the one file ist relinked. What can I do that premiere automatically find every asset?
    Thx
    Johannes
    edit
ok, for now I found a solution. I just copied the project file to the media drive so that again the same folder structure is there. then "save as" to the new location. But the question still remains. What if i have to relink media files where I don't know the exact file structure?

jojejo wrote: What can I do that premiere automatically find every asset?
First, watch the video that Fuzzy posted above. (looks like you did already, good)
Relinking was one of our top feature requests at CS6, and earlier. So we re-did it all for this upcoming version. In many cases, if your media has just been moved to a nearby location and all the realtive paths are the same, it will just find it for you and you won't have to relink at all. If you've moved it further away (like to a new system or drive, or to a different root path) you will have to point it to the first file and it will find everything else for you if the relative positions are unchanged or at least close. In the case where a lot of files have been moved to a lot of places, it will just prompt you whenever it gets to a file it can't find, and then continue relinking automatically from there. Also the locate file dialog contains its own media browser instances, so it should be a lot easier to navigate when you do have to hunt for your media.
Relink workflows are like snowflakes, so it won't work perfectly for everyone all the time. And like anything 'automatic', if you know what you're doing, and you expect it to perform in a certain way, you may be better off going manual. For that reason, we've allowed you to toggle off the the 'relink others automatically' and also to bypass the locate file dialog in favor of the OS finder if you prefer.
I'm not just trying to sell you on CS7 (I get no incentive for that). I just want you to know that relink has been a pain point for our users for a long time. It was greatly in need of an overhaul, which it has just gotten. I beleive that it is greatly improved for this next version, and if early reviews/previews are any indictation, our users will agree.

PS @ fuzzy: I'm not sure how clear Al's demo video made this, but the last known file path is now visible as a hard-text column in the Link Media dialog. More importantly, there is a 'Last Path' field in the locate file dialog which is selectable & copy-able (but not editable). And fianlly, there is an editable Path field below 'last path'. So you can now copy/past and/or edit the text to just point it to a different root or modified path or whatever. I just read some posts on that other thread from you that looked like you were wanting to do something like that, so I thought you'd want to know.

  • Having problem synching Media Go with my Xperia Arc, and SE sync

Help people. Just got my Xperia Arc and attempted at using Media go to transfer all my music files into the Arc. However, the transfer keep hanging in the middle if I transfer too many files at a go. Say 3-4 albums.
It keep popping out wit the error code 0x802a0006. Help me!!!!!!!!
On a side note, I sync all my contacts with google account. Those contacts that I imported from the google account, how do I sync it t my SE sync account?

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with Media Go and Xperia arc.
I have been trying all morning to regenerate the problem you guys run into. But without any luck. I've been testing with the latest version of Media Go.
Unfortunately I'm not able to place what the error code you get points at either.
I believe that my best suggestion would be to see if you guys get the same problem if you try on another PC computer.
Regarding the SE sync, it's not possible to sync contacts in the phone that comes from Google to SE Sync. That's because they become marked as Google contacts and can't therefore not be synced to another web service.
If you would like to have your Google contacts on SE Sync as well I suggest that you export your contacts from Gmail, and then log in to SE Sync on your computer and import them under contacts.

  • Relinking Media Problem

I'm running FCP X 10.1.1 on a new 2013 Mac Pro. I've been trouble shooting and searching the internet since yesterday, but I decided to post here because I feel like I'm really starting to waste time.
What is the best way to re-link media? I have about 50 files that are missing. All of the original media is still on my drive and in the appropriate folders. I just need to link them back up inside FCP X.
    Thank you,

  • How to relink media programatically using actionscript or from extendscript?

    Hi,
Can somebody suggest a way to relink the media files in a premiere pro CC project files to another media location programatically?
In CC project files we cannot edit anything right?
So if we need to change the Project File items path what should we do other than manually relinking each file?
    Please Suggest, Thanks you,
    Anoop NR

Is there no way to get buttons to open up explorer folders specified? It seems people are managing it somehow, but i can't do it. Others aprantly can do it using this code:
         on(release){
          getURL("flash",_black);
, but that's actionscript 2, not 3 which i am using. Surely actionscript 3 can do this and possibly even better seeing as it is a higher version?
I also found another bit of code that was like this:
         fscommand("exec","explorer\dirname");
,but again that didnt work. However, in another way it did because flash reported no errors when it was run, but nothing happened when the button was clicked.
The only other thing i tried was this:
         var request:URLRequest=new URLRequest("C:\\");
        navigateToURL(request);
The problem with that was that it tried to open the internet as expected unfortinatly, not windows explorer to open the folder C:\\.
Directing users to the appropiate locations on the disk wasn't really what i needed thanks for the suggestion though.
    EDIT:
That last idea worked, sorry, but it opened in the default web-browser instead of using explorer, so i'm half way there. Is it possible to tell it what application to use to open the directory, so that way i can specify explorer?

  • Relink media every time I open project.

So I recently migrated a project and media to a new set of drives and predictably I had to relink the media. This was no big problem, I've done it before but now, every time i open that project it can't find the media and i need to relink it. Is there some way to permanently fix this other than to start renaming drives and folders?? Hopefully I'm just missing the bleeding obvious - which is usually the case.
    Many thanks, James

    JamesReardon,
External drives are fine.  Jim Simon may use internal, RAID5 100% of the time,   But the rest of us frail human editors use a regular mix of internal and external drives, RAID0 - RAID5, or no RAID at all without issue.  Both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt are capable of transferring a whole lot more data per second than ANY hard drive (or even many SSDs) are capable of.  The only caveat to this is if you're using a SLOW drive to begin with.  But in any case, Hard drive X in external form will perform just as well as the same hard drive internally.  To Jim's point, however, internal drives are certainly less expensive than external drives.  But more to the point, I'd be very surprised if your external drive situation was the cause of your "offline" clips.  Wish I could help.  Carry on.
