Problems testing a Connection to the OCI8 Driver for Oracle 8.1.7 from the Command Line
Hello,
I am configuring a JDBC Connection to an Oracle 8.1.7 from WebLogic 7.0.0. I want
to use an OCI driver.
When I am testing the driver, I execute the command (From DOS console in Win 2k
Professional):
java utils.dbping ORACLE myUser myPassword myDB
But it produces the next error:
Error encountered:
java.sql.SQLException: System.loadLibrary(weblogicoci38) threw java.lang.Unsatis

at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:146)

Also, a window appears and displays the next message:
"It does not find the entry point to procedure OCILobLocatorAssign" in the dll

My environment variable PATH is defined as follows:
Path=C:\bea\weblogic700\server\bin;
C:\bea\jdk131_02\bin;C:\bea\weblogic700\server\bin\oci817_8; C:\orant\bin;C:\local\bin;c:\DMI\WIN32\BIN;H:\AURORA\BIN;C:\WINDOWS;

Can you help me !
In advance thanks !

Do you see a folder lib32 instead. Otherwise you will have to install Oracle
client on the machine to use OCI.

Sree,
In this moment I don't have an environment variable ORACLE_HOME, and Ihave two
candidate directories to be the value of this variable: The firstcandidate directory
is C:\orant, and C:\orant\bin exists but C:\orant\lib doesn't exist.
The second candidate is C:\local; and C:\local\bin exists, butC:\local\lib doesn't
exist, and C:\local\oci80\lib\borland\oci.lib & andC:\local\oci80\lib\borland\ociw32.lib
and C:\local\oci80\lib\msvc\oci.lib & andC:\local\oci80\lib\msvc\ociw32.lib

Hi Ricardo,
You need to have a environment variable ORACLE_HOME set and then make
sure
you have "%WL_HOME%\bin\oci817_8; %ORACLE_HOME%\bin;ORACLE_HOME%\lib"
in the
path .
(replace WL_HOME with what ever your path to the WLS bin folder is)

Oci8 driver for Oracle 8.1.7 on RedHat 7.0
Hi,
I have an installed, patched and running Oracle 8.1.7 Database on RedHat 7.0.
Exeverything works fine so far, the only problem are remote jdbc connects.
They work with the thin-dirvers, but not with oci.
The error is:

(after changing the connector from thin to oci)
Java is 1.3 with the classes12.jar.
Any suggestions?

Merge/concatenate animation codec movie files in the command line/shell
We know how to join 2 mp4/h264 movies together in the command line/shell via MP4Box.
We have not been able to find a similar tool for joining to Quicktime Animation codec movie together via command line/shell.
Anyone know how to do that of have suggestions?
thanks,
paulHi,
I'm also having trouble with this same issue. I've been trying to change the Quicktime Default Setting to 10-bit uncompressed (btw codec works fine out directly out of QT and other apps), or to use the command line to do quick renders of tiff frame sequences to QT 10-bit. I think its a problem with my syntax on the command line. As per the manual I set up a fileout in a script with 10-bit as the codec, opened the script in Textedit and followed the instructions on p393, and dropped it into the include/startup directory. Below is a copy of the Textedit view of the script output settings. Also, If I want to use these settings the command line what should I change? The quotation marks, commas etc?
"QuickTime", "Shake 3 QT 1", "Apple FCP Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2",
0, "100W@c6000WDcsuHpoe10pFnKA6W230PPMMRH#0LgfI5ALV1EaKGn3DG3214QaPb03SeOBPg00K1bY AESIIW0KAbabF7YWOQan8401v6QvQehFnRYIBt9be1B4AEjYA6ci8YmM#IKXCg5aRMZC2MXBM0Ani04w HAJLmBrQ97MtegeEEO9d5oBoxCgv7GNhEOvai8INwFwb2roIf91bvbr040HAK4IYCW0",
0, 44100, 16);
I get the same message returned in Terminal:
error: - NRiCompressor - corrupted input data (length)
The QuickTime codec specified in the global default could not be selected. The system default codec will be selected.
So it renders to Animation. Something else I found was that the example on p393 in the manual is for 10-bit uncompressed - so I tried copying it right off the page, into Textedit, and into the include/startup dir - still no joy.
Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

Sql Exception on Testing Configuration with SQL Server JDBC driver for XA
I have a requirement of analyzing the behavior of SQL Server JDBC data sources for XA transactions in our application.We have been using Non-XA drivers for both Oracle and SQL Server as we had no requirement for transactions spanning across multiple databases in past.I have setup and tested the XA driver for Oracle (Oracle Driver (Thin XA) for Instance Connections 9.0.1,9.2.0,10,11) in Weblogic 11g and its working perfectly for transactions spanning across two databases.No when I am trying to configure weblogic 11g R1 for Sql server JDBC driver to support XA transactions with driver details as follows,

Database Driver :Oracle's MS SQL Server Driver(Type 4 XA) Version:7.0,2000,2005)
Database:SQL Server 2005(Single Instance)

creating JDBC XA procedures
instxa.sql completed successfully.
3.Verified that MSDTC service is running on both SQL Server and weblogic machines with XA Transaction enabled and DTC option enabled for both inbound and outbound connections.
4.Copied sqljdbc.jar (version 3.0 downloaded from msdn portal) to "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver" directory and updated weblogic_classpth variable in commEnv.cmd file.

Hi,
This is Sathish, I am trying to create a report and retrieve data through stored procedure using ODBC Connection. When connecting to the Stored Procedure it is showing Database Connection Error 42000:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for oracle] Syntax error or access violation' Error.
CRXI R2, Oracle 9i.
What do i do to solve this issue.
Regards,
SathishHi Satish
It could be an issue with the driver.
You can try with the OLEDB n Oracle native connection to test if the issue persists.
Also you can refer to the [Troubleshooting Database Connectivity for Crystal Reports|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d05b3bb7-0f28-2c10-4ea3-84dbdc4e414e&overridelayout=true]
Hope this helps!!

I have BT Infinity at home with the BT modem connected to the phone line and then to a BThub which delivers the wif signal. I have purchased an airport extreme to improve wi fi strength if how do I connect up to hub it states connect modem to WAN on back of Airport Extreme.
Instructions do not mention connection to BT Hub and the BT modem has only one output which you dicsonnect from Hub and connect to airport extreme leaving. Once you do this Hub has no signal.
How do I rectify
Paulyou can also set up the Airport extreme to extend the wireless by hitting the wireless tab in the airport menu then click the drop down menu to select extend
Apple's "extend" function is a proprietary setting that was designed to only work with other Apple routers.
It would be extremely unlikely that this setting would work with a BT product, or any other manufacturer's product for that matter.
But, I haven't tested this with a BT product...and I suppose anything is possible.
Still, I would be extremely surprised if this worked.
The AirPort Extreme might "join" the BT network if you try this......but the AirPort does not provide any additional wireless signal coverage when it "joins" a wireless network. In fact, it really does nothing when it "joins" a network except enable the USB port. -

Result Sets with the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle
Howdy all.
I have an Oracle database that I have migrated from MSSQL2K. My front end is mostly VB, and I have many (hundreds) DLL's that use ADO to access the database and execute stored procedures in the database. I cannot seem to get result sets from the Oracle procedures. I have tried passing a SYS_REFCURSOR as an IN OUT parameter, and I have tried returning a SYS_REFCURSOR in a function. The Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle does not seem to handle the ref cursors. If I use the Oracle ODBC driver, then ref cursors are handled sort of magically. Just like the result sets are in MSSQL with the SQL Server ODBC Driver.
The question that I would like to pose to anybody willing to answer is this: Is there any way to use the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle without changing the way I do the database access (using ADO connection/command/recordset objects)? I need the same DLL's to work on top of both MSSQL and Oracle.
I know that what I want to do is possible using the Oracle ODBC driver, but this will take some major changes to some of my DB components. I am trying to stay away from this, but it looks like I am going to have to go that route - that is unless somebody wows me with a good answer to this post.
wallyAs you are using Microsoft driver which works in XP and does not on Win 2003 you should post this on microsoft forum.

Problem with running a java program from the command line
I have this code:
package pkg;
import jxl.*;
import java.io.File;
public class TestClass {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try{
Workbook book = Workbook.getWorkbook(new File("d:/testWorkspace/excFile.xls"));
Sheet sheet = book.getSheet(0);
String s=sheet.getCell(4, 2).getContents();
System.out.println(s);
}catch (Exception e){System.err.println(e);}
}I've wrote it in Eclipse, added jxl.jar to the buildpath, and it works fine.
Then I tried to run it from the command line and I did it like this:
D:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin> java -cp \jxl.jar pkg.TestClassThe result was:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: pkg/TestClass
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: pkg.TestClass
...but the file TestClass.class DOES exist in the folder d:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin\pkg\ and the file jxl.jar IS on the root of drive D (like I already wrote, it worked fine inside the Eclipse).
So, my question is: How to run this code from the command line?
I have no idea what went wrong.
Can someone help me, please?The current directory is not implied in the classpath.
D:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin> java -cp .;d:\ pkg.TestClassor
D:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin> java -cp .;d:\jxl.jar pkg.TestClassI always forget which is right since I never work with jars... -
Testing Java Concurrent Program on the command line in Windows
I'm using the suggestions in:

I've put the appsborg2.zip file in my classpath. I've also copied the entire (1 GB) worth of Java .class files for Oracle apps onto my computer and placed it on my classpath. Is there something that prevents me from testing out my Java concurrent program on my Windows machine from the command line?i think if u run the ap in the command line then it has to stay open, you could try writing a .bat file then when that is executed it will only open the command line for the program execution (i think)

How can I print the test page with the Arabic type from the command line
Hi,
I have been trying to make the tool for printing the test page from the command line on the Arabic OS. I used "rundll32 printui dll printuientry" with "/k /n" options. My tool is to print the test page in all OS when pushing the
button.
Normally, in the Arabic Windows, the test page is printed with RTL type when printing the test page in the "Devices and Printers". But in my tool, the test page is printed with LTR type. I'm confused because of this result.
Is it possilbe to print the test page with RTL type when using the "rundll32 printui dll printuientry"? If it is possible, could anyone give me the hint or information for resolving?
