Problems trying to install kdevelop

Hi there,
I thought i would take a look at kdevelop so i tried to install it using
pacman -S kdevelop
and everything seemed to go ok until it starts checking for file conflicts where i get the following errors
checking for file conflicts...

Looks like you didn't upgraded your system to xorg7.  Read the wiki for more information about that, especially http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … a_Conflict
There's also several threads in the forum about the xorg7 upgrade.

hi im having huge problems trying to install flash for my mac 10.5 imac, iv gone through the internet and tried all of the solutions, everytime i try to install flash it says cant read the download file, or it just wont install, anybody plz help!
iv unistalled flash, iv checked plug ins it just wont work,

It would have been a great help to know precisely what Mac you have, so some of the following may not apply:
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
(If you are running Mavericks: After years of fighting malware and exploits facilitated through Adobe's Flash Player, the company is taking advantage of Apple's new App Sandbox feature to restrict malicious code from running outside of Safari in OS X Mavericks.)
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
You can also try these illustrated instructions from C F McBlob to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)
And the instructons are here: Snow Leopard Clean Install.pdf
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Problem trying to install XP via Boot Camp, computer almost died

    Hi there,
I just recently purchased a 24" 2.8Ghz intel iMac 500GB harddrive with OS X 10.5.2. I plugged everything together yesterday morning and the computer was going fine, just liek a dream. On a side note I was genuinely impressed with the ease of setting up and how quick, intuitive and reliable the mac and OS X Leopard was.
This is a bit long but I think I need to go into detail what happened in order for any of you to fully understand what happened to my mac.
Later in the afternoon I decided to install Win XP via Boot Camp. I knew that XP SP2 or later and VISTA was recommended but I decided to use my XP Home Edition "2002 version" install disc instead.
I opened up the Boot Camp Assistant, partitioned 15GB of the 500GB harddrive, inserted WinXP install disc and the computer restarted with everything going to plan thus far. I was going through the install process as normal but I came to a window asking which partition to use to install XP ("c" or "d") or if I wanted to create another partition. I also had my iPod still connected to the computer and I think the installation recognised that harddrive too (all 12GB of space left on my iPod). I wasn't sure what to do so I decided to quit the install process by pressing the relevent keys ("press F3 to quit" etc). Upon automatically restarting the computer I first came to a white screen for about1 or so minutes and then a black screen came up with white text asking me to "press any key to 'something' the CD" (can't remember what the rest of the text was), but the keyboard was unresponsive. I turned the computer off and unplugged it as according to the instruction manual that came with the mac, waited the suggested 5-6 seconds, turned it back on but I came across the same screens. I couldn't eject the XP install disc either. I restarted the computer again, held down the eject button whilst restarting, the disc thankfully ejected but I then came across the same black screen but with no text, just a white flashing underscore cursor. I decided to remove my iPod and restart the computer again. AGAIN I came across the same white screen, then black screen with the flashing white underscore cursor and unresponsive keyboard. I decided to insert the OS X install disc 1 (I don't remember if I inserted it whilst at the black screen or if I restarted the computer and THEN inserted the OS X install disc). The disc loaded slowly but I eventually went through the install process (choosing your language) and then came across a window asking me "Where would you like to install OS X?" but I couldn't install it anywhere. I opened "disk utility" or some program with the word "disk" in it, had no idea what I was doing, somehow created a new volume (though I thought I was actually erasing the XP partition I set up earlier) but in MS-DOS FAT Format or something. I then was able to choose a place (or volume) to install OS X but I had to change the format of the untitled volume from FAT to something along the lines of "Mac OS X journaled (enabled)" (whatever that means). There were other format options available but I just chose the top one on the list (Mac OS X journaled (enabled)). I then made a full install of OS X 10.5.2 and late last night downloaded the latest pdate for Leopard (10.5.4) along with other updates. The computer is working fine now thankfully andeverything seems to be back to normal.
I just want to know what actually happened. What did happen to my computer? Did I somehow wipe the harddrive? Why didn't the computer reboot to HDD when I ejected the WinXP install disc? Which format is the HDD formatted to? What does "Mac OS X journaled (enabled)" mean? Also how come my HDD is 500GB whereas when I checked Boot Camp Asistant a second time (but not installing Win XP again) My HDD is 460GB with 440GB of available space? Is there still another partition I am unable to see? Is there an extra 40GB of data floating around the harddrive that I'm unaware of? What are the factory settings for my computer? I really hope I haven't formatted the disk and installed the OS to settings that weren't like how the computer was originally set BEFORE I regrettably tried to install WinXP via Boot Camp.
If anyone could respond or give me some sort of advice, explanation or help I would very much appreciate your assistance.
    Cheers.

According to wiki "the documentation from Apple states that Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista is requisite for a Boot Camp installation, and it also mentions that trying to install an unsupported operating system could prevent the computer from booting even into Mac OS X". Sure that was from wiki, but it does seem to support and somewhat validate the problem I had with installing an earlier edition of XP.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BootCamp_%28software%29#Other_operatingsystems
Thanks for the info on the Filesystem info. My problem is that installing OS X on a mac is just a little bit more technical than installing Windows on a PC as there are a few more things to consider. Plus I'm not familiar with any of the utility programs as well. It's a **** miracle I managed to somehow create a volume to install OS X on when I thought I was erasing the partition I created for WinXP.
But I'm still not sure about the missing 40GB from my 500GB HDD. Upon coming to the desktop straight after OS X was fully re-installed I noticed that the HDD only had 460GB and that 440GB of it available space. So the full installation of OS X was 20GB, but where has the other 40GB gone? I swear I saw that I had much more available space on my harddrive (BEFORE I tried to partition my HDD under Boot Camp Assistant and stuffing up the computer). Is the missing 40GB from the ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALL of OS X INCLUDING all my iTunes music and other files I uploaded to the computer earlier? It would make sense but there's no way, as far as I know, of checking this. Any ideas?
    Cheers.

  • Weird problem trying to install XP using Boot Camp 3.0.1

    Hi everyone, first post here.
I have been trying to install XP in my Mac Pro using Boot Camp and a very strange thing happened. I created the partition allright, I inserted my Windows XP cd, hit install, the computer restarted and that´s when it froze. What actually happened is that it got to the gray screen stage, the apple appeared on screen, and then the apple symbol started to shuffle between a "forbidden" symbol and an icon of a folder with a question mark on it.
I rebooted, and held alt key. It found the mac hd (from which it boots just fine if I selected) and my windows cd. If I select the windows cd, I get again the apple symbol and after some time it´s start to shuffle again between the three icons. I have tried to delete the partition, re-did all the steps and every time happens the exact same thing.
I have looked through many threads reporting problems with boot camp, but I haven´t found one that describes this specific problem. If there is such, please point me to it. Otherwise, anyone has any ideas?
Thank you very much for your help.

No, I did not get a solve. Actually, my problem worsened. I tried it again, but this time the computer wouldn´t detect my alu keyboard, hence I couldn´t select a drive to tell the bloody thing where to boot from. That is weird, because at the time I opened this thread it did work. I actually had to borrow a wired keyboard so I could hit alt and get it to work.
At the moment I am not so keen on trying it again......

  • A extremely weird and crazy problems trying to install Quicktime

For the last couple of hours I've tried every angle to try to fix this problem. Now the crazyiest part of this is not only can I not install Quicktime but I can't even download a file that has "quicktime" in the name. If I try to download any version of Quicktime that has "Quicktime"(all of them) in the name, it finishes and I try to open it, and I get a msg "(filename) doesn't exist. It may have been renamed, moved or deleted...". So the only way I can download the installers is if I change the name to something random, I get the error msg even if I rename the file "QU".
The main issue is when I try to install Quicktime, with Itunes or Standalone I get a runtime error "This application has requested to terminate in a ununsual way" I have searched the forum and have tried every fix, from Regedits to virus scans you name it. I went to oldversions.com and I couldn't even download version 3.
The other crazy part is that after i get the runtime error message and hit "ok" Quicktime completely disappears from my computer. On some of the older versions I don't get a error msg, it installs, I hit "finish" then I try to go where I installed it to and every single time it disappears, i've tried to install it on the Desktop, external harddrives, etc. but its never their. I'm usually able to fix problems like this but this one is just unbelievable so I more then appeciate any help I can get with this, thanks.

    Pasucal:
The behavior you are seing suggests a virus or system corruption of some kind. The best way to get back up and running may be to perform a repair installation of Windows. There are steps for performing a repair installation of Windows XP on the Microsoft support site here. There are several other sites on the web that have more information about Windows repair installs. Here is one you might want to review.
Keep in mind that repairing Windows will not remove malicious programs from your computer. After the repair, you will need to update and run a full scan with known-good anti-virus software.

  • Problems trying to install Leopard

Hey Guys, I just purchased Leopard yesterday and was trying to install it today when I encountered a few problems. First it was telling me that I needed to reformat my drive before it would let me install it. I went to the start up menu so that I could restart my computer using my HD instead of the disk, and when it got to the apple screen, it just shuts down! I tried using my leopard disk and powering it on, but it still shuts down at the apple screen...Did I do something wrong?? I hope my computer isn't dead...

  • Problems trying to install Verizon DSL to laptop..

Hi, Im trying to install verizon dsl software from the setup cd but im having problems.
At first, it opened the cd but i accidently closed it while it was running and now my laptop cannot read it.
I already have a verizon account this one, and im using a wifi connection thats free around my area .
I just wanted to use the model 7500 as my wireless router but I cant hook up to the internet from the ethernet cable for some reason. Please help, I've been trying to fix this for days while my desktop is running fine, my laptop is having problems.
I want to know if there's an alternate way to download verizon software not from the cd because the cd's not working for me.
    Thanks!

it might be your browser.  I had that problem when I tried to activate using firefox.
I had to use internet explorer to activate succesfully.
If you are using the CD and it gives you that problem, then try to use internet explorer, and go to http://activate.verizon.net

  • Problem trying to install Mac OS 9

I've had Mac OS X 10.4 installed for a while on this system but after recently upgrading to a new Mac I thought I'd turn this one into a legacy computer to run all my old software. So I used my Mac OS X install discs to wipe the hard drive and install Mac OS 9 drivers but when I tried to install Mac OS 9.2.1 it just shows a floppy disk icon with a blinking question mark. I've tried a few times, reformatting and making sure I installed the Mac OS 9 drivers again but it still doesn't work. Even tried resetting the PRAM with no luck. I can install Mac OS X fine on the system but the Mac OS 9 disc refuses to play ball. I know the Power Mac G4 Digital Audio came with a system specific version of Mac OS 9 but I was told that Mac OS 9.2.1 should be fine.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Does your friend's iBook have OS 9 on it? If it does, try starting either computer in target mode (with a firewire cable connecting the two). Then simply drag the OS9 system folder onto your G4. Once the file transfer is complete, open the system folder and double click on the finder and system file. Neither should open, but that lets the computer know they are there. Restart your G4 to see if this works. I would upgrade to 9.2.2 then.

  • Problems trying to install configuration manager.

Hi I've been trying to install SCCM 2012 onto a 2012R2 server. It is the second server on the network. The first is the domain controller, DNS and DHCP server. First I try to enable the roles specified BITS etc.
Then I install SQL server 2012.
Then I install ADK 8.1.At this point I install SCCM configuration manager.
The procedure fails here at the prerequisite check, stating that various elements are not installed for example User state migration tool. Windows deployment tools, windows pre-installation environment etc.
All these programs are installed on the sytem yet config manager does not seem to see that the software is in fact installed.
Would you have any pointers to a possible solution?
    Brian

What version of ConfigMgr are you trying to install?  ConfigMgr 2012 R2 will require the Windows 8.1 ADK to install those components.  Make sure you have ConfigMgr 2012 R2 install media.
    I hope that helps,

  • MSI GT60 2PC Dominator-- Loads of problems trying to install Win8 onto SSD

    Hi guys,
I really, really hope someone can help me!
I recently purchased GT60 2PC Dominator-626 which is awesome. However, it doesn't come with an SSD so I've got a Crucial M500 which I've installed. I'm trying to move over my Win8 install to this drive so that I can have my OS and most used programs on the SSD, but I've been having sooo many problems in doing this. I've tried using cloning software but no luck, whenever I clone the drive and enter bios or boot menu, it will never boot from the SSD.
What I'd be really happy to do is have a fresh install of Win8 onto the SSD, but when I try to reset my PC using the MSI UEFI settings, i will never give me the option to re-install to the SSD, only the original HD.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you!

Well after trying LOADS of different cloning options, I finally found a way to get my SSD work with this laptop:
I opened Burn Recovery from the app page, used that to create 5 x DVD back up of the system.
Then I removed the old HD, leaving only the SSD in. Placed the first recovery disc in and booted from DVD/CD drive.
Followed that process and now I have an install of Win8 with the MSI stuff on my SSD. I then just got Win8 running, inserted the old HD and reformatted it!

  • Problems trying to install iso 5.0.1 on my 3gs!

  • Anyone having repeated problems trying to install update cloud applications?

I have always seem to have a large proportion of my CC updates fail with "Installation Failed". Not sure if this is bandwidth related even getting the cloud app to update has been very hit and miss. It seems worst when there are new apps/update batches.
It's currently failed on 70-80% of the updates. If I go on a couple of days after a launch it will probably go down to about 30% and then eventually it will let me finish, but it takes ages...
It will occasionally ask to close dynamic link manager when it isn't showing as running in Taskmanager.
It isn't bandwidth this end I have 50-70Mb sec at the moment.
I tried the chat support, but they say they cannot support it, have to speak to phone support, which from experience takes ages to talk to someone who doesnt know the products and is on a really bad line, with poor english skill in the far east.
I am on win 8.1, is it just the system can't cope or is there a solution anywhere?

unless you have an error number or more specific message, you can only get general help, and from your description of an erratic problem, it sounds like a connection problem.
so, use a wired connection, or update manually -  http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-updates-direct-links-windows.html

  • Serious Problems trying to install SP3

I have a MacBook running the latest version of OSX; it also has the most recent update of Boot Camp installed and is running Windows XP, Home Edition, SP2.
I booted up in Windows and tried to download and install the latest Service Pack 3.
With the download in progress, it suddenly shifted to white text on a blue background with the message:
The following file is corrupted, <Windows Root>\system32\hal.dll>
Please reinstall a copy of this file.
Clueless, I tried to restart with the original Windows XP, Home Edition, SP2 CD in the drive. It gave me the same message as noted above.
I shut down by holding down the start button then hit the start button again. I got to the Apple logo and the churning gearwheel, but after five minutes, it got no further and I could not hear any disk activity.
I then tried starting up in Safe Mode: again much spinning of the the gearwheel, but no startup.
I haven't any idea as to where to go/what to do from here.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks,
    Bob
