Problems with migrating btmail to IMAP in outlook...

After migrating from pop to IMAP succesfully, today, after only one day, my incoming emails are not working anymore in outlook 2011.   I regularly receive and send emails from my other devices, ie iphone and ipad, but Outlook 2011 tells me " not connected to btinternet".  This is a real nightmare as I just spent hours migrating and cleaning all issues relating to it.
Interestingly yesterday as i set IMAP, it would not let me click the : use ssl to connect" box as recommended.
I cant work without outlook receiving my bt emails....can anyone help please?  the ports shown are 143 incoming and 25 outgoing.
thank you
ps it wall woking fine until this morning!!!

i used the override function to input 993 and it still does not work with or without ssl.
I am abpe to send emails but not to receive them  in the bottom right hand corner of the main outlook window it says: not connected to btinternet.

  • Is there a problem with Apple Mail using IMAP

Is there a problem with Apple Mail using IMAP?  Having a problem syncing to our mail server: doesn't sync properly when multiple devices use same mail acct.  Spoken w/ mail hosting provider who says Apple Mail doesn't follow IMAP protocol properly leaving Apple Mail users to experience a variety of problems when connecting to IMAP accounts.  Among them:
    - Improper syncing
    - Proliferation of drafts during composition of an email.
    - Connections on the mail host do not close automatically and proliferate over time until the host rejects further connection requests.
Hosting provider goes on to suggest turning off IDLE command.  In my experience turning this feature off did not improve the situation.  In fact, it created a few.
Question: Is the hosting provider correct in faulting Apple Mail?
Been fielding the question with a number of people.  I'm aware of three people who are experiencing similar problems, each using different mail hosts.  Tech reps at inmotionhosting.com and nexcess.com point the finger at a Apple Mail, along with an IT specialist in Los Angeles, CA, and a tech support rep at an Apple Store in Arizona who said that Apple and Google mail are aware of and coordinating to resolve the problem.
Anyone out there have any insights into this?

  • I am having problems with migration assistant (windows pc to Mac 2011) When I get to the 'Quit other applications' box and click continue, nothing happens. There are no other apps running - any ideas, please?

I am having probems with migration assistant. Trying to transfer data from a windows laptop to iMac 2011. It was working fine when I did the set-up yesterday, but it was going to take hours to transfer some videos so I quit the process with the intention of doing it again at a later stage. However today I find that everytime I get to the 'Quit other applications' box on the Mac and click 'continue', nothing happens. Have checked mission control and confirmed no other apps running. Tried several times with the same result every time. Migration Assistant running on my laptop with the 'Waiting for mac to connect' box displayed. Mac is connected to wi-fi OK as able to use Safari and access internet. Any ideas, please?

Thanks for your suggestions. Have managed to get Migration Assistant working but now have a new problem, i.e. where does it save the transferred files?!! Searched a few forums and it seems it saves it under your old username, or suchlike. Anyway I tried logging on as a new user using my old user name but there were only a handful of files there, couldn't locate the majority of stuff from my old laptop. Anyway I don't intend to go through any more hoops with MA - will just save the important stuff to an external drive and transfer it that way. Not impressed with MA at all. I thought it was supposed to be a user-friendly tool to simplify the transfer from pc to Mac - not my experience, I'm afraid!

  • Problems with migration on a new install

I turned on my new 27" iMac, and when it asked if I wanted to import info, I was not ready because I did not have the right cable to connect my Time Machine External B/U, so I passed, and created a Bootcamp partition.
I installed Windows XP just fine, and then installed Parallels on the main admin account, and made sure it worked. then tried to import my prior user account by connecting both computers with an ethernet cable, and turned on file sharing. I had problems with lots of spinning beach ball of death on the old mac, so I figured moving to the new machine would get rid of it.
So I used Migration assistant to import from my current computer connected with Cat 5 cable, and it got 99% of the way through, then hung, like it could not gather the final info from the old computer to finish the migration, so I forced quit Migration on both computers, since there is no other way to exit w/o a successful install.
The account was there, though when I log in as that user, I see lots of folders I don't have permission to access like my documents and downloads.
So I go back to the old computer, and do an updated time machine back-up, then connect that external HD to the new iMac and do a 2nd import to a fresh user. All goes well, and I am able to log in, however, my new install of Parallels does not show up on the desktop, rather my old Parallels shows up with its different name. And I am getting spinning beach balls for 10-20 seconds in Safari, which I don't like, as something from the old computer must be corrupt to be doing this like a preference file or ?.
I have had a Mac since the early 1990's, and always only had one account that I used to run the computer, never creating a "User" account to run day to day, and I am not fully understanding the relationships between admin & user.
    So my questions are;
    1. what is the best way to take my documents, movies, photos, music and such from the 2nd migration, and transfer to a freshly created user account that would have no corrupted preferences causing the spinning problems. Do I put them in the shared folder, then access them from the new account, and transfer them that way, or does the admin do it?
    2. What do I do about the applications that were imported, can the main admin move them and possibly the above documents to the main applications folder?
    3. What about fonts and such, should they be put in the main library, or a user library?
    4. Where can I find info on the allowable actions & limits of admin and users? what they can & can't do.
    5. On my admin desktop, I can see my HD, Bootcamp partition, and Parallels shortcut. It is not visible on my test account, or another user account I created for #1 above. How can I give that user access?
    6. How can I access the new Parallels install that shows up on the admin hd, instead of the old imported one in my user account?
    7. How can I access the 2 external HD's that show up in admin and not users?
    8. Can I safely delete the user that was created from my first unsuccessful migration that I had to force quit and has permission issues?
Thanks for your help, really appreciate getting up to speed on users...

No offense, though none of your replies are of any help. I am not migrating from a PPC to Intel, I don't need to reinstall, I am not a new user migrating for the first time, and I am not having any font problems.
    Let me try again.
If I have a problem with an imported user account like it hangs doing certain things, how do I move all the data to a new user on the same PC, just drag all the documents, library, and similar folders to the shared folder, or the user folder?
    Users/Shared
    Users/User
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Problems with migrating 4.6 packages to 5.0

I have lot of 4.6 (SP3) packages which needs to be migrated to 5.0 SP2 platform(SCCM). I tried convert and install 4 different generic packages:
    Paint.net - OK, runs fine
Chrome OLD - fail (depency to Java)
Chrome NEW - fail (depency to Java)
    Java - OK, runs fine
Reader OLD - fail (not compliant to existing OS, probably packaged on XP)
Problem with Chromes are that shortcuts do not appear anywhere, but the package is installed via SCCM. Reader is failed already during convertion to 5.0 SP2, because Sequencer machine is W7. I converted all packages with Powershell, seems to be the only
    way.
Main problem is, that after convertion to 5.0, I tried to open Chrome with Sequencer to delete depency to Java, and sequencer fails to open the converted package. So I´m thinking, should I continue to evaluate packages one By one, and are these problems
because of depencies or something else?
Error while opening converted package with Sequecer: ID 5010, "An Attempt to prepare the package for editing failed, class not registered. HRESULT 0x80040154.

I have not heard of issues opening the packages but either way, I'm not sure deleting the Java files from the package would be the best path forward.
I believe the conversion tool has been a complaint by many. The consensus seemed to be re-sequencing applications was the most reliable method to use.
Personally, I'd try converting, test. If it doesn't work I open up my recipe and re-sequence.
Re: Java, if I was you I'd read this series of posts from Dan: http://packageology.com/2014/02/sequencing-java-the-definitive-guide-part-1/
My personal preference is to keep the latest version of Java on my build as a local app and sequence an older version only when a specific application requires it. I'd imagine Chrome really doesn't need a virtual Java and could use one that's part of the
    build

  • Big problem with migration at mavericks

    Hello,
I'm trying to migrate an iMac early 2009 to an new one.
But neither with WLAN nor with Ethernet it works.
The older iMac cannot find the newer one. So I have no chance to proceed.
Is there any hint how I can solve this problem?
Yes, I could make a Backup off course – but there is another problem with this issue I'd not like to explain now
    Thank you for any help...

  • Question of possible problem with "display as" field in MS Outlook contact

Are you aware of any problems with an apparent shift of the display as field in MS Outlook contacts after the initial syncing with their iPhone? When preparing to send an e-mail in Outlook, the auto populating of the "display as" field is now linked to incorrect contacts. Therefore, one could unknowingly send an e-mail to the wrong recipient. After seeing this error, it appears that many of my "display as" fields have shifted among contacts within my Outlook contacts. This appears to have happened right around the first time I synced my iPhone. It could be completely unrelated to the iPhone syncing but I am curious if other iPhone / MS Outlook users have experienced similar problems.

There should be no leeway or movement. Return the phone to where you bought it and show them. It should be covered under warranty unless they determine it was dropped or accidental damage.

  • Problems with setting up Exchange account in Outlook

    Hi,
I have a problem with trying to connect my Exchange account on Outlook for mac, a message keeps popping up every time I try to add my exchange account. It says "outlook was redirected to the server auto discover-s.outlook.com to get new settings for your account". Even if I choose to allow the server to configure my settings nothing ever happens and I cant receive or send any mail. I tried to give the server name in the advanced settings bot that did not help either. Could someone please help me out?

  • Problem with Signature tab drop down in Outlook for Mac 2011

I am setting up Outlook 2011 on my mac and have run across a problem with the signatures that I have been unable to resolve.
I have set up 2 signatures for my two different pop accounts and thought that if I defaulted them to their appropriate account they would automatically be seen in email when I had chosen the corresponding email account. I then discovered that it was not
possible to do this in Outlook 2011 for Mac.
So I selected NONE as the defaults for my two signatures, and thought I would be able to manually add the appropriate signature to each email as I compose or reply.  BUT NO!!!! THE PROBLEM LIES BELOW:
The 2 signatures that I set up are visible in the drop down menu from the signature tab in an email, however they are greyed out and cannot be selected.  I have attempted selecting one of these signatures as the default, and whichever one
I select dutifully appears when I compose a new email, but when I click on the drop down to change the signature, both are still greyed out.
So effectively, I only have the option of one signature or none, despite being able to set up multiple signatures in my profile.
Does anyone know why this is occurring and what the solution is?
    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi,
Please remove the Signature and re-add it back to check whether the issue persists. We can follow the articles below to create signature in Outlook 2011 for Mac:
How to create signature or customize it (add picture) in Outlook for Mac 2011
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2455171/en-us
Add a signature automatically to every message
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/mac-outlook-help/add-a-signature-automatically-to-every-message-HA102928243.aspx
If the new created Signature is still greyed out in your Outlook, please restart the Outlook client in safe mode to confirm if the issue is caused by any third-party add-ins.
If the issue persists in Outlook safe mode, I suggest you ask a question in Outlook for Mac forum for further troubleshooting:

  • Timezone problem with Desktop 6.2 calandar and outlook 2007 after HotSync

After recently being upgraded to Desktop 6.2 I have a problem with Hotsync Palm-calendar and outlook 2007.
When I create a new appointment in outlook 2007 and next do a HotSync it is stored in PalmTungsten-E2 calendar with a timezone CEST (=2 hours earlier than it should be).
At least I won't be late for these appointments, but its a bit annoying.
I already tapped and untapped the box -New events use time zones- in the Calendar Preferences, but that does not help.

    Thanks Colapop for you suggestion.
I had already tried that option and it gave no good result.
Yesterday I bought KeySuite from Chapure and now everything works fine again.
I do regret a bit I upgraded to PalmDesktop 6.2 because that was the start of my problems. The reason for updating to 6,2 was that I wanted to make use of outlook 2007 instead of palmCalender.

  • Problems with MAIL program and IMAP Password

I have had the same email and password for quite a while.  Now every time I open Mail it promts me enter my password agail.  It is the correct password but it keeps rejecting it.  It is only on my Macbook.  When I log into my mail via Webmail or get mail from my smart phone, there are no issue.  Sometimes it gives me the error, other times it works.
How do I correct this problem?

It is an IMAP account, so those emails should be fine.  How do I backup the ones I have stored "on my mac" in different folders. Or will they be deleted?
As long as you don't delete any emails in Mail or on the server, those emails will still be there, but deleting the account removes all of them from Mail immediattely, with no chance of recovery. If you have emails from the IMAP account in 'Smart Mailboxes', those are also affected; but any other accounts are not, unless and until you want to delete the account.
Keep in mind that there are times when Mail will be unable to connect to your mail server to retrieve mail; this is normal, and it happens to everyone from time to time. It is one possible cause of your password being rejected, but it usually clears itself within a few minutes, as it's a mail server issue, so you have no control over it.

  • Problems with mail connecting to IMAP since 10.5.2

    Hi,
Since upgrading to 10.5.2, I can not access my IMAP mail server anymore, it will sit there for a long time with the spinning wheel trying to sync with the mail server. After a very long time I will get me an error message that IMAP server is not available. I have Entourage 2007 installed as well and that can access the mail server with no problem with exact same setting.
Anyone else had this issue, can I forced mail to rebuild the mailbox, I have a lot of mail stored in the mailbox, online and on my mac so I can not afford to loose any mail.
Mail also seem to hang up on me a lot and I need to use Force Quit.
    Thanks
    Jaco

for me it doesn't exactly hang, a.k.a not responding, but it won't quit. I have to use force.
