Problems with whereclause ( i presume)

I am from Bolivia and my english is very poor
I am creating a view object in expert mode with this sql sentence
SELECT AT_PERMI_ALTA
FROM TBE_USUARIO,TBE_GRUPO, TBR_PERMISOS ,TBE_TABLAS
where
PK_USUAR_NICK = :1 AND
AT_TABLA_NOMBRE = :2 AND
TBE_USUARIO.FK_USUAR_GRUPO_CODIGO = TBE_GRUPO.PK_GRUPO_CODIGO AND
TBE_GRUPO.PK_GRUPO_CODIGO = TBR_PERMISOS.PFK_PERMI_GRUPO_CODIGO AND
PFK_PERMI_TABLA_CODIGO = TBE_TABLAS.PK_TABLA_CODIGO
so
in my appMod i've write a method to return the value sending values that i know that returns one row
but it's not working
Here is my method.
public int respuesta ()
permImpl vo = this.getperm();           // my view object is named "perm"
vo.setWhereClauseParam(0,"edu");          // setting the first value to the :1 bind
vo.setWhereClauseParam(1,"GRUPOS");     
vo.executeQuery();               // executing the query
int numero = vo.getRowCount();          // row count
return numero;
I am shure that my sentence is ok because i am executing it in isqlplus and returns at least a value

I think that the problem was the data type of one of my attributes [ char(20)]
so i change my sql to put the trim function and it is working

Hola Hernando, gracias por el interes en mi pregunta.
Pues el problema es que estoy haciendo un sistema y pensando en los roles de los usuarios creé cuatro tablas con las que podría controlar aquello:
usuarios, grupos, permisos, tablas
un usuario esta en un grupo y un grupo tiene permisos para ciertas tablas
entonces necesitaba una forma de recuperar cierto permiso de cierta tabla para un usuario.
Tenía dos opciones:
1.- un VO que encapsule mi sentencia sql (la del problema)
2.- manejarlo todo con entityObject's (la que está ahora funcionando)

Como haces para las medidas de seguridad de un sistema en jsp ??
puedes mandarme algun link o cualquier ejemplo o lo que sea ??
