Process chain email alert issue

Hi,
I'm working with BASIS to get the email alert for Process chains working.
We've done the following so far:
1. Created a mail exchange group "SAP BW" with all required email addresses
2. In the Process chain, created a message variant and assigned the above private distribution list
3. BASIS configured SMTP in SCOT to reference the correct port and mail path
4. In SU01, Security added email addresses which were missing earlier for everyone in the distribution list
5. BASIS scheduled a job to run every 5 minutes to collect and send emails
I just ran a test process chain and failed a few loads. However, none of us are getting emails in our inbox. What step are we missing? Is there anything else we should be looking at?
Thanks,
Pooja.

few more things to check
1. Is the mail sent from SO01 working correctly?
2. Are the mails sent getting accumulated and seen in SCOT transaction queue?
3. Did you try using Individual addresses instead of distribution list?
These might help in boiling down to the actual problem though may not solve it. good luck!
Regards,
Sree

  • Display Source System Name in Process Chain Email

We would like to show the source system name (QA, Prod, etc) in the email subject when process chain messages are emailed so we can easily discern between production messages and messages from our test system. There doesn't appear to be a straightforward way to do this.
I have seen a Re: Howto Insert System ID into Process Chain Email Message which discussed this topic and offered 2 potential solutions neither of which work for us:
    1. Open the production system and modify the messsage directly in the production system
    2. Edit the First & Last Name of the sending user in the production system (does not work for us because we use central user administration)
Can anyone suggest another method of accomplishing this requirement?

we achieved it by changing text of [email protected] from 'BIWREMOTE' to BIP BIWREMOTE'....so in our mails even though mail id is same, but it display it for us as BIP.
Just go for user BIWREMOTE, and change format field with whatever name you wanna recieve mail. It should work properly.

  • Process Chain Mail Alert

    Hi Gurus,
Could anyone please tell me how to set up a mail alert to a list of receipients in case of Process Chain failure.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    KT Varkey

    1. Right Click on the process.
    2. Select Maintain message.
    3. Select message for error or success.
    4. Enter the email address and select via Internet.
    5. Save
But make sure that your basis team has maintained all email config settings (SMTP) in transaction SCOT.
    Hope it helps.

  • Process Chain Paging Alerts

I have created paging alerts in my process chains by right clicking on each process and creating a message, and putting a variant in with the email address and pager number.  I have tested this and it works.  Well, it works for a true failed job.  Here is my problem.  I had a rollup job go red in the process chain because of a lock with the attribute run.  So if you display messages on the chain, it it red.  However, in SM37, the job never canceled, so no alert was ever initiated.  It was like just a process failed, but never the entire job.
So how can I make sure in situations like this I am notified.  Also, what if for instance an App Server went down on the R/3 side and a BW process chain was canceled.  Since this didn't happen on BW, should an alert be sent?  For us, it didn't get sent.  Thanks,  Keith J

    Dinesh,
I think I have a couple of problems with that.  First, I have some jobs that take well over 30 minutes (actually 3.5 hours) before they start pulling from R/3.  Second, some of the processes in the process chain are not InfoPackages, but aggregate rollups, attribute/hierarchy change, so I couldn't put a 30 minute time out there.  And from reading some documentation, the timeout that you set in the InfoPackage is for the IDOCs, meaning if an IDOC hasn't moved data in 30 minutes, then it would be considered a failure.  And chances are probably real good that an IDOC will move at least that often, so I am not sure that would help me.  I hope that last one makes sense.
    Thanks,  Keith

  • Process Chain - Email Messaging

    Hi Gurus,
We have implemented the Process chain with Email messages (Success or Failure). We are getting the entire log message of the process chain instead of just 1 line message (Load of 0FIAP is success).
Is there a way to suppress the message when it send the email.
    Please advise.
    Thanks. Gowda.

I personally like to receive all of that data if I need to look at it.  So, what I do instead is have a meaningful header/title for the message.  Something like <system>: <success/fail>: <chain name>.
So, if I was in production (system BWP), with chain ZBW_MASTER_DATA and it ran successfully, I would see an e-mail titled:
    BWP: Success: ZBW_MASTER_DATA.
With this, I know the message came from BWP, the chain ran successfully and it was ZBW_MASTER_DATA.
No need to look at the message at all.   Unless I received BWP: Fail: ZBW_MASTER_DATA!
Sorry, I didn't answer your question, but I hope I made your life easier in the long run!

  • Process Chain/OS command issue

    Hello,
I am trying to execute a command similar to the following in an OS command in a process chain:
    cp /path/filename*.txt /path/filenamexxx.txt
    I know it's not a permissions problem.
This is the error message from the Process Chain Maintenance Log View:
cp: cannot access /path/filename*.txt: No such file or directory
External program terminated with exit code 1
I'm thinking it is a problem with the *(wildcard). If I take out the *(wildcard) it works flawlessly. It seems like SAP is not correctly interpreting the * character.
The purpose of my doing this is to remove the date text from the end of the file and store it in a different directory without the date text. e.g.
filename08032006.txt copy to different directory as filename.txt
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gary Martins

    hi,
i do not know what process cain maintenace view is but I wonder how this command should work on the commandline correctly:
    say you have
    filename_1.txt
    filename_2.txt
and copy them according to your example to
    filename_x.txt
This would be n files copied to one destination file. At best you had the destination overwritten n times and be left with the last source file in the destination file.
Would that make sense? Probably therefore this construct is not supported.
    just my 2 cents,
    anton

  • SharePoint 2010 Blog Email Alert Issue

I can't seem to make heads or tails of this issue. Any insight would be appreciated.
When a user updates an existing blog post - for example to fix a typo - all users who have elected to receive alerts do, however the body of the content is displayed with strikethroughs. Either all of the content or the title and first few sentences
    - even if the change(s) made are not in the first few sentence. Here's is an example of the alert email i received. I changed two words to TYPO and this is how the alert was returned to me:
    Title:
    test5
    Body:
this is how the alert email will look when a change is made.
this is how the alert email will look when a change is made. this is how the alert email
will look when a change is made. this is how the alert email will look when a change is made.
    this is how...
this TYPO how the alert email will look when a change is made.
this is how the alert email will look when a change is made. this is how the alert email
will look when a change is made. this is how the alert email will look when a change is made.
this is how TYPO alert email will look when a change is made. this is how the alert email will look when a change is made. this is how the alert email will look when a change
    is made. "
I'm trying to determine why is shows the strikethrough. I've tested this a million ways - versioning on/off, content approval on/off, etc. and again sometimes when i receive the
emails, everything in the body will have a strikethrough, and it just doesn't make sense to me.
I know we can customize the alert notification, but i'd hate to have to do that given this appears to behave more like a bug.
Has anyone else come across this, and other than customizing alerts, is there a away to either remove the strikethrough or fix it so that it actually only displays a strikethrough
    on items that have changed?
    Thanks!
Edit - it didn't come across when i submitted but the light gray text has the strikethrough it in on my alert email.
    SPNoob

Here's the solution we were given by MS:
    Problem:
You were intermittently getting strike on the text which you receive in email notification sometimes the strikes are on edited text sometimes they are on newly added text
    for the site
    Cause:
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation includes a set of predefined alert templates. These alert templates are stored in the Alerttemplates.xml file, which is located in the %ProgramFiles%\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML folder. Alerttemplates.xml defines the format, contents, filters, event types and properties used to create alert messages from each list type. A developer can customize alerts by modifying a copy
of the Alerttemplates.xml file and then loading the customized alert templates by using the command stsadm -o updatealerttemplates.
    Resolution/Workaround:
    Take a copy of alerttemplates.xml; look into: Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML
Replace all entries you find with <Limit Len="255" to 512
Be sure that you have a new filename!
    run stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url
    http://SharePointName -filename YourFilename
Restart OWSTIMER; the SharePoint timer service in service manager
    Hope this works for you!
