Process Chain remote execution locks up (All Dialog Processes used up)

Hi,
We have the following task at hand. We kick in BW process chain execution via RFC from our R/3 system using the function described below. What happens is that the process chain does get kicked in the remote BW system, but it quickly locks up. System monitor says that all dialog process have been utilized. So, basically it gets stuck in the beginning of the process chain. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

How many work process did you configured in SOLMAN, what is the action that CSMUSER is busy with?
I think CSMREG is a communicatino user to satellite agents and check the RZ21--> AGENT status.

Launch Process Chain in dialog mode using WAD

Hi,
I check that I can associate the process chain launch using a button in WAD. Does someone know if there is a way to launch this in dialog and NOT in batch mode? My main issue is that I'd like to know who launch this process chain, and in batch mode the user is BIWREMOTE.
I tried to change the flag "wait till the end" available with the EXECUTE_PROCESS_CHAIN action, but I see no changes.

Hi,
A way around this would be to change the execution user of the Process Chain to be the user who clicks the WAD Button. This can be achieved in RSPC by selecting the process chain, then Process Chain -> Attributes -> Execution User.
This gives you the option of either the default BW Background user (BIWREMOTE), Current User or Special User. If you select Current User it will show the user you are after. However, you will need to ensure that whoever is clicking the button has the relevant authorisations to execute process chains in BW otherwise the job will fail.

How do I prevent all dialog processes in SM50 from being occupied?

Hi experts,
I have set rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp = 4 and I still saw all dialog processes got occupied.
(PS: This screenshot is captured after a few minutes). Anyway, how do I prevent all dialog processes in SM50 from being occupied?
Should I increase rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp ( = 4 now ) and rdisp/wp_no_dia ( = 18 now ) to a higher value?

If I understand correctly, there are 4 dialog processes running and 14 RFC running at the same time.
If I want to resolve this problem, I need to reduce paralellism of RFCs and increase dialog work processes, right? Here is my new configuration. Any thoughts?

DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND short dump in BW while calling Process chain remotely from APO

Hi,
While trying to call a process chain remotely from SCM APO system to SAP BW system - we are getting below short dump -

    Screen output without connection to user.
What happened?
    Error in the ABAP Application Program
    The current ABAP program "SAPLSDH4" had to be terminated because it has
    come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
Checked the RFC connection between APO and BW system through SM59 and it is working fine - Can anyone pease suggest what configuration could be missing which might be causing this short dump.

All dialog processes on AS in "roll-in" state

Hi guru, on 1 Application server all dialog processes are in "roll-in" state. Only one dialog process has as table "ADOPCODE-41".
The user of single dialog process is customer user. For example rossig ( surname+ first letter of name).
The customer user can't do login. The apllication server is in hung state.
All for 10 minutes.
I have got release SAP R3 4.7.

Problem may be with the SAP Kernel in use. Have you upgraded your SAP Kernel ?
Post dev_w0, dev_w1 logs.
Value of rdisp/roll_SHM parameter of your application server?
If more than 50% of total Work processes stay in "Roll-In" status, then the problem may be with the existing Memory Configuration.

Connection to sap not possible, all dialog work processes in running status

Dear SAP gurus,
We have problem with two of our productive systems (different servers) . This morning there was two times problem with connection to the system, via dpmon i saw there are all dialog work proccesses in running status, no connection was possible. After restart is was ok, but the problem
appeares again and again after some time. Please help me with this issue, it is very critical.

Remote Execution and Speeding it up!?!

Hi all,
I have recently posted a few queries on parallel processing etc and have now sorted that. However (you knew there'd be a however didnt you!) I am using remote sequence calls on the proposed system we are using, due to the large amount of processing going on and the parallel threads scheme I am using.
I have set up a simple sequence (5 LV VIs taking data from the sequence context and squirting the data into the report string, just to verify data flow) and have run this locally and remotely both from a sequence call. the difference in execution times was astonishing to say the least.
Local Execution.
Each vi was approx 15ms.
Overhead was approx 25ms.
Total Time around 100ms
Remote execution
Each vi was approx
15ms again
Overhead was around 2.9s!!!!!
the total time was about 3 seconds to run the same sequence call remotely.
I have tried many many things to help speed things up. I have modified the preload/unload options, I have set the sequence files and code modules up on the remote machines harddrive and set the file paths correctly.
does anyone have any experience of speeding the remote execution up? The overhead is unacceptable for my system (I have a cycle time of 1.2s per remote execution) so I may just have to code the whole thing in LV rather than use TS

A few ideas
1) What parameters are you passing to the remote sequence? Parameters might end up needing to be duplicated on the other machine, this could be slow if you have a lot or big parameters(i.e. large arrays). You could pass references to the variables instead of the variables themselves to speed things up if needed. Or find other ways to reduce the number or size of parameters
2) are you timing the first run through the uut loop or the second? the first iteration of the uut loop is going to require the remote machine to load the sequence file. This is a one time cost though as the sequence file will stay loaded as long as the sequence call step is loaded.
3) How many step results do you have in the remote sequence (i.e. how many steps with result recordin
g enabled)? The results for the remote sequence must be passed back to the main machine and recreated on that machine. If you have a large number of results this could be slow. You could speed things up by reducing the number of results you are storing either by disabling record results on the steps on which you don't need them, or disabling results for the entire sequence or sequence file that you are running remotely.

Actually the test controller just calls the test agent, and then the test agent would run your tests, and “Test execution method:” would be related to the Test Agent.
So you would provide us more information about how you install your VS, test controller and test agent in your side.
For remote tests, your test agent would not in the same machine with your VS IDE.
If your test agent in a sing machine, we would select “Remote execution” in above screen shot.
For example, two machine A, and B.
A: VS and Test Controller.
B: Test Agent.
If so, we could select “Test execution method=Remote execution”, and select the Controller name like the above screen shot, and then enable the .testsettings file under
Test menu of VS IDE.
But if your VS and Test Agent are in the same machine A, test controller is in machine B, we would select “Test execution method=Local execution with remote collection”.
So you would make sure that you have enabled the testsettings file, and select the correct “Test execution method”.
To run a coded UI test remotely,
you must set up your test agent to run as a process.
In addition, one important issue is that you have to make sure that your Test Agent machine's desktop is active, since the playback actions are in your Test Agent machine, not your VS IDE machine.

Remotely stop\start your Windows Dialog Instance from System i CI

Is there a way to remotely stop and start your Dialog Instance running on Windows from your system 'i' Central Instance?

Hello Diane,
We thought about the situation and came to the conclusion, that with the 720 DCK the restriction of only starting/stopping IBM I remote instances with one STARTSAP/STOPSAP call can be dropped.
The new note 1644051 will describe what to do.
Here is a short summary:
You have to apply the 720 DCK to all instances of your SAP system following note 1636252. Also follow this note to obtain info when 720 DCK will be available for all SAP Systems newer than SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ("7.00") without restrictions.
You have to apply at least the 720 dw patch #67 to all instances (all platforms).
You have to apply at least the 720 ILE Patch #111 (I think this will be the number, but for the official number wait for note 1644051) to all IBM I hosted instances.
Of course the first stack kernel available after complete 720 DCK availability will contain all patches needed.
Please remove any additional stuff from the START profile which you added to start/stop remote windows Instances along with your central Instance.
Then you can call
STARTSAP SID(<sapsid>) INSTANCE(ALL) INSTHOST(ALL)
STOPSAP SID(<sapsid>) INSTANCE(ALL) INSTHOST(ALL)
to start and stop really all instances out of the box.

Remote phone locking - Lock your phone via text if...

This is a damn cool feature, basically once you set it up, if you lose your phone you can lock it via text message!I feel much safer now, as I have insurance but you cannot insure your privacy!
For reference the default lock code on an unbranded phone is 12345, I suggest you change this. Be warned though, the default lock code could vary if your phone is branded so check with your carrier first!
Go to Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt. > Security settings > Phone and SIM card > Remote phone locking.
Select Enable and enter a “remote locking message”. This can be anything you choose, but must be at least five characters in length.
Enter a PIN code, you will need this to unlock the phone.
Test it by using another phone and texting your phone the “remote locking message”.

you have to set the option to lock phone if sim changes, too.
so if he doesnt switch it off, you can lock the phone with a short message, if he switch it off and on again, it asks for the sim's pin code or if the theft changes the sim, it asks for the phone code. so he can only let it switched on and change the profile to offline to don't get the locking message. do you mean a theft know this all?

Tcode to view the list of all dialog users in SAP XI

Dear all,
What is the Tcode to view the list of all dialog user is SAP XI system.
I checked with SU01, it doesn't have a option to display the list of existing users.
Any other Tcode for this purpose.

File Dialog's using Remote Panels (via web server)

I am aware that the web server remote panel access will not allow us to open a file dialog box on a remote computer. I have read people comment that you should create your own file dialog box, using LabVIEW to use instead of the file dialog box.
Has anyone actually done this? I would like know if anybody has source code for this, rather than re-inventing the wheel. Also, will the sub-vi actually just appear on the webserver? i.e. will it actually work?

Hi Emilie,
I have a program that I run on an industrial PC, with no keyboard, video or mouse. We currently control the application using the web server. We have a button to load and a button to save settings. If the files are missing for the load & save, it pops up a file open dialog to choose the file to import. However, while we are viewing the page this way, these dialog boxes do not work.
I would like to know if anyone has made up a file dialog box that I could use, that would display correctly in the web server's remote control.

Hard drive access locked to all users

I have a second internal HD on my Power Mac G5 that is locked to all users. I have tried many different things and have been unable to make it available to myself. I could just format the drive but there is valuable work data on there. Any help would be appreciated.

If the phone is off nothing can be done about it.
As is evident in the thread that aspergerguy linked you can check by sending the required sms to your phone but that guy was reporting what sounds like a bug if you do just send the message to test.
Honestly you have very little time to actually do something about a stolen phone. It's not like tracking a car which itself is not 100% effective. I don't bother with such software it's actually for the stupid thieves.
