Process Component Interaction Model to Configuration

Hi,
I've developped several interfaces by using Process integration scenarios . Now I want to use a Process Component Interaction Model as the starting point. The documentation describes how to build the different models but I don't find anything on how to go from your Process Component interaction model all the way to a configured scenario.
I suppose, you drill down all the elements and create the different design objects but I would like to actually have some documentation guiding me through it the first time.
Is there anything out there ???
The help seems to be still geared towards the PIScenario of previous versions.
Also, has anyone found a good book regarding modeling in PI other than interface patterns and the B2B book... everything I find seems to be for older versions .

I can't save Process Component Interaction Model

Hello together,
unfortunatly I have a big problem to save a process component interaction model. Sometimes it works and sometimes I get the error message (there is no special behaviour to get that error):
"Save operation is not possible. Internal error: An item in the database has already been deleted."
What item is deleted? What does that error message mean?

Make sure you're not trying to save to the cloud. Have a look on here for this error and you'll see it's quite common
It could be when your Mac is trying to sync with the cloud. Turn this off and see if it fixes your issue
Everytime I try to save a document in .pages it tells me: The file “Untitled.pages” couldn’t be opened. All I want to do is save it.. not open it.. help! Any ideas??

Creating a Configuration Scenario from Process Component Interaction Model

Dear All,
I created a very simple SAP Pro Comp Interaction Model in ESR.
It has two Process Components (PC1, PC2) with a Service Interface (SI1,SI2)
and Operation (OP1,OP2) each.
There is one message (MT1) flowing between these two Process Components.
I have created and activated all ESR objects.
Now I try to configure the same in ID.
But I get an error in Model Configurator saying
"Process component PC1 does not contain a reference to a process component from the Enterprise Services Repository"
"Process component PC2 does not contain a reference to a process component from the Enterprise Services Repository"
The first step of the Configurator ie. Select Model says "Not Configurable"
What could the issue be? Has anyone configured a Pro Comp Interaction Model successfully?
I am able to configure the SAP delivered Models perfectly well. Just an issue with custom models.

Process Component Architecture Modeling

Hi,
Is there any way to link process components of PCA Modeling in PI 710 to Software Component or to Software product? If not the case means what is the use of these models. Appreciate for your response.

Process Component Assignment Not Possible

Hello,
i have created a process component within a process component interaction model. Unfortunately I'm not able to assign anything to the component. Hence it's lacking a namespace.
Are there any special prerequisits for assigning a namespace to a process component?

Hi,
Just a quick thought:
If your order is having status CRTD or REL (but without any confirmations, goods issue, settlements) then you can use the Read PP Master Data (Order header - Functions - Read PP Master Data) & this will re-read your routing & BOM. But for this to work for you, the routing should be updated with the assignments.
So what you could do is start processing your order as late as possible, thereby you can re-read the BOM & Routing as the modifications take place.
But if this is not possible in your scenario, then i am not aware of a BAPI or a FM which adds components to different operations in production order, you might evaluate writing a BDC program for the same. Anyways will update you if i manage to find a BAPI or a FM for this.

In PI 7.1, I am seeing one new option called Process Component in ID.
Is there any documentation which explain what this obect is? I search sap help and sdn...but there it doesn't give any information about this object.
Also anyone created Process Component Interaction Modle in ESR and imported successfully in ID?

Does Model Configurator in ID works for ProComp Interaction model

Hi All,
I am trying to simulate a scenario for process modeling.
In ESR,
    1) I created two Process Component Models
    2) One Process interaction model
    3) Integration scenario model on top of it.
    Then I am trying simulating directory objects through Model Configurator by selecting 'Pro Comp    interaction Model'.
    Then I selected my model designed in ESR, clicked on Model Configurator.
     System is showing the following Error.
    'PCIM Testmodel: Process component u2018XXXu2019 does not contain a reference to a process component from the Enterprise Services Repository'.
    And I read in the documentation that says
    "In the main menu bar of the Integration Directory, choose Tools ® Use Model from Repository ().
     A wizard starts.
     The radio button Process Integration Scenario is under Type of ES Repository Model.
     Other model types are currently not supported by the model configurator. "
But if I try the same with standard ProComp Interaction Model'. It is not showing that error.
Please suggest how to proceed.

After posting the question i had revisited my interface and i found that first i need to create 'Process Component', 'Business Object' etc.. under my namespace.
But My SWCV version not allowing me to create those objects at all.
Any special steps needs to be done while creating SWCV to be able to create those type of objects?

2) For what kind of cases we go for Integartion Scenarios and for what kind of cases we model a PCM?

Process Component modeling is ment for modeling SOA, where you create a Business Object, Service Interfaces, etc and this help to understand the business semantics of enterprise services in the business process platform. And you will not create Receiver Determination, Interfaces Determination out if that. Where as Integration Scenario is meant only for integration where you define Sender system, receiver system etc...

All the related/dependent Process Components are tied together in one unti and this is called Deployment unit. It also describes the logical boundary of the Process Component. Apart from this deployment units are the only installable units and this shows what types of interactions are needed between process components.

Bill and Routing Interface concurrent program is not processing component

While running Bill and Routing Interface concurrent program,not processing the component item(Line Item) from bom_inventory_comps_interface,still it show process flag as 1. where as billing item(Header Item) is successfully done..i have tried with all the option by giving component sequence id and batch id still it is not processing component item..
Is it recommendable to give bill sequence id and component sequence id in interface table using bom_inventory_component_s sequence..
I will be very pleased if i listen from u guys... Plz help me in resolving this issue..

You need to populate the organization_id or organization_code in bom_inventory_comps_interface.

Process an Interactive Form in a function module or method

Hello,
If I process an interactive form in a report everthing works fine. But when I execute the same coding in a function module or method nothing works! The call of the function module fm_name returns sy-subrc = 1 (usage error).
I believe that function call of 'FP_JOB_OPEN' cause the problems. I can't spool this job in an function module or method.
What can I do for using interactive Forms in a method.
If anybody had the same problem a piece of of coding will help.

Once the backup completes,tape willl be automatically ejected.
I dont think there is any way by means of which you can see the data stored in the disk but yes what you can do is to run the backup with verify option
This BRBACKUP command option verifies the backup after the files have been backed up

i'm a PhD student at the [VLBA Lab in Magdeburg|http://www.vlba-lab.de/] and i would like to share my thoughts about my research topic '[Model Driven Configuration Management|http://www.vlba-lab.de/en/Home/Research/Topics/ModelDrivenConfigurationManagement/index.html]' with you. Model-Driven Configuration Management (MDCM), means using MDE techniques to implement the requirements concerning the configuration of IT system landscape and IT infrastructures.
Problem:
While the capabilities of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) have been realized in many parts of software development, MDE support for IT system landscapes and IT infrastructures is barely adequate. Although common frameworks for Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) propose predefined artifacts and methods for this purpose, the transition between the design stage and the operating stage of software takes place manually. Time-consuming discovery procedures capture the current software configuration after the transition, store it in configuration databases and allow further analysis on the basis of reconstructed models.
Objective:
The identified gap between EAM and IT operations shall be closed by model-driven configuration management so that
1. the deployment of software in an IT system landscape and
2. the configuration of the underlying IT infrastructure can be accomplished automatically and traceably during both the initial transition and later migration.
During my research i found similiar approaches for using Model-Driven Engineering techniques either for EAM or for IT operations, but not a combination of both and so my question is, if you have any expierences in using MDE for configuring your IT system landscape on the basis of EAM artifacts?

Your quest seems to be very interesting.
Well I am not sure if you have SAP exprience. Well I am Technology consutant and may be I will try to make sence of your reserch from SAP point of view.
What I understand from (Model Driven arch) MDE in SAP is a traction (program) called "SPRO" . It allows you to configure the already developed allications (in ABAP). This configuration are stored in Database and then allow further analysis. As you explained.
Also a technology that might intrest you would be BC sets. It performs predefine recomended configurations for your applications and asks for your inputs if required.
Regarding your specific area of requirement i.e. automation for IT infra configuration ; i generally feel that developers always get all the tools to get their job easily done... But administrator never get their due share of attention for ease of use of their tools.

Customer has several variations of the same business process. How to model them in Solution manager's project implementation tools? I actually created this same question in 'Business process expert' forum, so please read the whole story there and earn your points there.

Hi Kimmo,
I wouldn't use process steps to refine processes. This is incompatible to SAP implementation content coming from BPR (Business Process Repository). But a good idea would be to copy the main business process e.g. "Sales order processing" into two new processes on the same level, e.g. "Sales order processing by manual input" (variation1) or "Sales order processing by incoming interface" (variation2). Then you can use the Compare Button on the variations to see if any changes have been on the main business process and copy them to the variations. This minimizes the effort to keep track of changes after creating the variations. When you run transaction SA_PROJECT_UPGRADE on that project these changes even get flagged. Mostly this function is used to upgrade against BPR or a template project but it works also for copies inside a project e.g. to model variations.

Modifying the Contents of the Taskbar
Version 4.71 and later of Shell32.dll adds the capability to modify the contents of the taskbar. From an application, you can now add, remove, and activate taskbar buttons. Activating the item does not activate the window; it shows the item as pressed on the taskbar.
The taskbar modification capabilities are implemented in a Component Object Model (COM) object (CLSID_TaskbarList ) that exposes the ITaskbarList interface (IID_ITaskbarList ). You must call the HrInit method to initialize the object. You can then use the methods of the ITaskbarList interface to modify the contents of the taskbar.
