    Hi,
Kinldy explain difference between the  Purchase order,  planned order,  process order and production order?
    Thanks & Regards
    Ravi kumar

    Hi Ravi,
    In simple terms:
planned order - A procurement proposal generated by the system to meet a need, this can then be converted to a production / process order (for internal procurement) or into a purchase reqn & in-turn to Purchase order (for external procurement)
Purchase order - A firmed procurement proposal which is sent to your vendor (external procurement) to supply the items as per your order
process order - A firmed procurment proposal which is used for in-house procurement, this is used in process industries eg: chemicals, oil & gas etc
production order - A firmed procurment proposal which is used for in-house procurement, this is used in discrete production industries
Based on the above am quite sure you should be able to figure out the differenced. If any doubts revert.

  • How can we tell the client that use process order or production order (proc

    Dear guru,
My question on what reason we can tell the client that u have to use process order or production order .
On what scenario we suggest client that use process order or production order

    Hi,
Process manufacturing is primarily designed for the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries as well as the batch-oriented electronics industry
Discrete manufacturing is u201Cthe production of distinct items such as automobiles, appliances, or computers,u201D whereas process manufacturing covers u201Cproduction that adds value by mixing, separating, forming, and/or performing chemical reactions. It may be done in either batch or continuous mode.u201D
Letu2019s think about what your company manufactures. Does it require mixing chemicals? If so, you may need an ERP system that does things like calculate ingredient quantities.
If your company assembles products from many component parts, youu2019ll require discrete manufacturing functionality
    Other approach:
If the finish good cannot return back to its basic components, your manufacturing is Process. For instance, the finish good is a can of soda. It cannot return back to its basic components such as carbonated water, potassium benzoate, aspartame, citric acid, and other ingredients. But if the finish good is car or computer, your manufacturing process is Discrete because it can be disassembled and the parts, to a large extent, can be returned to stock. Therefore Bill of Material (BOM) of discrete manufacturing consists of component parts for assembly while Process manufacturing consist of formulas, recipes and other ingredients
Process manufacturing is scalable. If a formula calls for 1,000 pounds of cake flour, but you only have 500 pounds, you can still bake cakesu2014just not as many. Conversely, in discrete manufacturing, one missing part means waiting for it before the finished assembly unit can start rolling off the production line
The obligatory requisite for process manufacturing is Lot Potency and Shelf Life where as discrete manufacturing values Serial Numbers, ECNu2019s and assembles.
If it is discrete manufacturing ---go for Production order
If it is process manufacturing ---go for process order

  • In process Quality for Production orders

    Hi Guys,
I am facing issues while doing an in process quality for production order. The usage is In process quality,
can anyone help me to carry out a flow for this usage type.
What are the necessary settings to be done and also explain the workflow for this inspection type.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi,
For in process quality you have to activate "03" type quality in the QM view for the material.
After creation of the order you have to generate inspection lot and based on the inspection lot you have to do result recording.
After that you will do the GR followed by usage decision of the inspation lot.
Hope this will help. Please elaborate the details for further clarification.

  • Specific process code for Production order message type LOIPRO

    Hello,
Is there any specific process code for Production order message type LOIPRO.
    Request you to reply.
    Thanks
    Prashanth

    Hi Prashanth,
sorry for last thread ... that not contain full information ...
For message type LOIPRO you can use process code APLI.
In IDOC PARTNER definition, the partner is linked with an IDOC TYPE and PROCESS CODE for inbound processing. This process code is in turn linked with a FUNCTION MODULE to process the IDoc such as IDOC_INPUT_INVOIC_MRM (Reff..  http://searchsap.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid21_cid519558,00.html)

  • Difference between process order and Production order

    Hi Experts,
Can any buddy tell me the difference between process order and production order. Why process order is used for process industries. Why do we use recipe for it and routing for production order ?
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit
There is a difference between production order and process order.
Supposing a 10,000 lit tank is being manufactured in discrete manufacturing. You have to follow the necessary routing steps and can make by physically seeing its development stage by stage. For this type production you can have a production order.
In case of process of order if some chemical in a reactor is loaded with intial temp of 30 C and need to be heated to 80 C then there is phase change. Hence we use Heating as an operation and the change of temp is phase. For such type of process we process order.
Hope this is useful. Pl reward.

  • Process orders and Production order in PP

    Hi,
In our case Process orders are used in most of the case ,than production orders. Pls tell wheather Process orders are also pulled by the extractors(PP) and behave similar in all the Standard PP reports. and what is the diffrence between Process orders and Production order??

    Hi
In PP, you can see Production Planning and Production Planning -Process Industry
Production order is for manufacturing industry
Process order is for process industries where input raw material is processed to arrive at end product.Process order keeps shop floor person aware of processing status. If your client's business have many processes than manufacturing you might come across more processing orders

  • Regarding Costing in External processing operation in production Order

    Hi Everybody,
We are trying to do sub contracting through external processing operation in production order. In brief, we are creating a production order which contains just one operation and when the prod.order gets released, it creates a purchase req through external processing operation. Pur.Req is being converted to Pur.Order with all the Raw's which we are going to send to Sub Contractor..
The costing issues we are facing are
    1. First we receive GR against Pur.Order, once its done, the Raw's which we sent to Sub.Contractor will be backflushed.. but we dont receive the Finihsed part until we confirm the production order.... there is a Gap between this two processes.. so how can we make sure that there wont be any differences in terms of FI..
    2. Second issue is, some times even if we ordered 10 pcs, subcontractor can only send 5pcs and 5 pcs afterwards.. but every month end FI dept tries to close the books, so how can we deal with this issue if i receive 5 pcs in this month and remaining 5 in the next month...
If any body dealth with this kind of situation.. your hints will be really valuable,
    Adavnce thanks
    srikanth

    Dear Srikanth,
    Please note the following:
      - a) Issue your raw materials through T.Code. - MB1B, Mvt. Type - 541. This will transfer materials from your stock to vendor stock (provided you have initiated vendor material provision and activated 541 mvt. type for PP)
        b) After you receive the material back from vendor, run the T.Code MB01, which will cause Mvt. Types 543 and 101. Now the material has come back to your Production order, but not in Storage location stock.
       c) Then carry on normal CO11N and MB31 for your production order.
Hope this will solve your problem.
Revert back if you still have any question.

  • Open planned orders and production orders

    Hi friends,
I have one issue with my client.
Client has 1 lac materials in sap .Now he wants extract all materials open planned orders and open production orders with quantity and dates.
Please tell me the process how i can extract the data from sap for above requirement.
    Thanks,
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
For open planned order and production order select the respective box.
But one suggestion. Try to convince client that this report will take a lot of time as you have mentioned 1 lac materials are there.
You can exclude system status and get it with below screen as mentioned already.
But my suggestion is to run the report at night when the system load is very less. Please create a background job one for planned order and another for production order. Then run it in midnight as per the customer requirement in background. You can automate the process by sending automatic mail to customer. Please refer the below link to trigger mail.
Mail Trigger with TEXT file via JOB run

  • Error while converting planned order to production order for config materia

    Hi experts,
While converting a planned order to production order for a configurable material.I am getting the following error meassage. Message No.CO684,
"You cannot make an assignment to make-to-order stock"
( DiagnosisThe component cannot be allocated to an individual stock because make-to-order production and engineer-to-order production cannot be executed with this order.
A possible cause is that you are trying to create an order with reference to a sales-order/project, where an account assignment to a sales order/project is not allowed in the settlement profile that is assigned to the chosen order type. This is inconsistant.
System ResponseThe following responses are possible:
    Order processing is cancelled.
The system resets the special stock indicator back to the original value.
    Procedure
    Choose another order type).
I have checked some of the threads related to this error. But no where there is any solution. Please tell me if there is any settings to make so as to work on this scenario.
    Thanks,
    Sham

    Hi,
This will be a MTO scenario. Please check your requirement type,Requirement class and strategy type config along with your Item category and schedule line category from SD.
Also check your Production order type config and settlement profiles.
I mean to say that you need new production order type to be configured for specific above mentioned combination.
Are you working on a production system..?? is it the first time you are creating the order for this config material..??

  • Planned order to production order

    Hello friends,
Is it possible to convert 100 planned orders into 1 production order? I know it is not possible in SAP standard but is there any way that, this can be done thru Z development? If yes can you please explain how can i go about this?
    Narendra

You have the option of converting several planned orders into production orders in a collective conversion. Use transaction CO41
You branch to the initial screen for collectively converting planned orders.
Only planned orders that allow in-house processing can be selected

  • Link between Purchase Order and Production Order

    Hi,
Could some one tell me how i could get a relation ship between Purchase order and Production Order after a Good receipt is done. Coz after a GR is done I am not able to see the production order for a particular material in MD04 transaction.
    Thanks,
    Arul.

    Hi Arul ,
i think u may not get the LINK b/w Production Order and PO , Bcos--->
    check the process --->
RUN MRP , here System will generate the Production Plan and PRs( based on the avail.of that Raw Material). So PO will be generated by PRs.So I think there is no link b/w Production and Purchase .
this is based on the my system settings and my knowledge.

  • Error in converting Planned Order to Production Order (Urgent)

    Hi All,
I am facing an error when i am trying to convert a planned order to production order.
    +Error message:
"Assignment order/WBS" is not allowed (WBS L.XXXXXX-XXXX)
    Diagnosis:
The current status of object 'WBS L.XXXXXX-XXXX' prohibits business transaction 'Assignment order/WBS'.
    Procedure:
To process business transaction 'Assignment order/WBS', you first have to change the status of object 'WBS L.XXXXXX-XXXX' to allow the transaction 'Assignment order/WBS'.+
I have another planned order identical to this one & for that i am not getting this error. So i checked the network for these 2 WBS elements, but could not find anything different in status.
I am unable to figure out what might be causing this error. Hope my problem is clear, await inputs.
    Vivek

    Hi,
I checked the planned order, the assignment exists. I compared the planned order for which i am not facing any issue in converting to work order & the one for which i am facing the error & i see no difference.
So i am not able to trace what might be the reason. Is there anything which can be deciphered from the Diagnosis & Procedure which i have posted in my initial qns?

  • Assign batch number from sale order to production order automatic

Dear all, I have a question for all. Please help me in this case
My scenario is make to order
I have a sale order, when i create sale order, i have assigned batch number at each line item.
When i run MRP for sale order (MD50), the system generate a planned order for it and I've converted to production order.
So when I view production order, I think that batch number what I've assigned to sale order will be assign to production order but that is not happen.
So, can you help me solve this problem. I think that sap can assign batch number from sale order to production order automatic but i don't know how to configure that
    Thanks all

    Hi,
To the best of my knowledge, when system is generating planned order / production order from sales order system doesnt copy batch number from sales order.
In fact , you are following wrong practice for generating batch no.
    Follow procedure like this :
Create sales order without any batch assigning there. Run MRP with MD50 and then convert planned order to Production Order.
While creation / releasing of Production order, you have option to generate batch automatically by following way :
Go to OPKP (Production Scheduling Profile) -> Take your plant & give suitable name to Production scheduling profile-> Batch Management tab -
    > Automatic Batch creation in the order maintain this field as
1     Automatic batch creation at order creation
    or
2     Autom. batch creation at order release
This will generate batch number automatically at the time of creation or release of order.
Then follow same process i.e. Goods Issue, Confirmation & GR for production order.
So you will get sales order stock in the form of batch managed.
Check & revert if any issue in above flow.

    Tejas

  • Conversion of planned orders to production orders

    Hi,
we are doing mass conversion of planned orders to production orders and performing capacity availability check, how system will give log information based on these two things,
when i perform availability check at time of order creation and will not allow to create if anything is missing (i selected user decides option in configuration), does it show any error log report and where can i see.
When i perform availability check at time of release, if anything missing it will not allow to release and give a choice for a user to release in normal production order creation process, how it will work in mass conversion. is there any standard report to look at missing planned orders so that users will come to know and then decides whether to convert to production order or not.
    thanks in advance.

    Dear ,
In SM38-Enter PPBICO40 -Execute -Here you need to Mark the Output log option with Erros only or Error Folder for each MRP controller  .Frist you do it in test mode and then remove test mode , mark the Output log option as per requured field and check the result .
refer this useful thread : Program PPBICO40 for conversion of planned orders to production order
