Process to access BI system

Hi folks
I am starting the task of finding a process by which endusers can submit a request to access BW box as only reporting users( only can run queries). I will be truly greatful if you can share with me your ideas about how you went about doing it or how is done at your companies. First what information the user( new or existing)/requestor needs to put in his/her request form to make the request meaningfull to the SAP security admin who will process this request.?? Second, what are the approval layers for this request?? what are the software used as the "Vehicle" for submitting the authorisations request.
kind regards
massoud

Massoud,
First what is your medium for running queries - is it portal or BeX or both.
You should have a look at SAP's licensing with ESS and Professional licenses and accrosingly take a view on the type of accesses you are going to provide.
What you are asking for is the user creation process and depending on where and how the user ID is created in the system , accesses vary. Not sure if any tools are used but Virsa is one tool that is commonly used to restrict access to the system by way of sensitive TCodes etc. Other than that it is quite standard , by way of the user creation process.

    Do you have antiVirus installed on the sharepoint servers?
    These folders may have to be excluded from antivirus scanning when you use file-level antivirus software in SharePoint. If these folders are not excluded, you may see unexpected behavior. For example, you may receive "access denied" error messages when files
    are uploaded.
    Please follow this KB and exclude the folders from Scanning.

  • Server 2012 R2 SMB - The process cannot access the file '\\server\share\test.txt' because it is being used by another process.

    Hi,
    We are having issues with Server 2012 R2 SMB shares.
    We try to write some changes to a file, but we first create a temporary backup in case the write fails. After the backup is created we write the changes to the file and then we get an error:
    The process cannot access the file '\\server\share\test.txt' because it is being used by another process.
    It looks like the backup process keeps the original file in use.
    The problem doesn't always occur the first time, but almost everytime after 2 or 3 changes. I have provided some code below to reproduce the problem, you can run this in a loop to reproduce.
    The problem is that once the error arises, the file remains 'in use' for a while, so you cannot retry but have to wait at least several minutes.
    I've already used Process Explorer to analyze, but there are no open file handles.
    To reproduce the problem: create two Server 2012 R2 machines and run the below code from one server accessing an SMB share on the other server.
    Below is the code I use for testing, if you reproduce the scenario, I'm sure you get the same error.
    We are not looking for an alternative way to solve this, but wonder if this is a bug that needs to be reported?
    Anybody seen this behavior before or know what's causing it?
    The code:
    string file =
    @"\\server\share\test.txt";
    if (File.Exists(file))
    File.Copy(file, file +
    ".bak", true);
    File.WriteAllText(file,
    "Testje",
    Encoding.UTF8);
    The error:
     System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file '\\server\share\test.txt' because it is being used by another process.

    Hi,
    There is someone else having the same issue with yours. You could try code in the article below:

  • I cant figure out what is wrong i keep getting this an OIEception that says "{"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."}

    I am trying to move a file from a folder to another folder.
    here is my code:
    //storage of the all files
    string[] folderContentNames = Directory.GetFiles(@"C:\Users\Jonah\Desktop\Test Pictures");
    private void historyPictureBox_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    destinationFile = @"C:\Users\Jonah\Desktop\Test Test";
    File.Move(folderContentNames[1], destinationFile);
    updateListBoxFileName();
    updateImageBox();
    each time I hit the bolded underlined part I get that error message.
    if you need anything else just ask.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thor Orb

    Hi Thor,
    If you want to move a file from a folder to another folder, I think you could get the sourcePath and TargetPath. The code below shows a simple demo:
    string[] folders = Directory.GetFiles(@"D:\Test\VSC#\01\WindowsFormsApp\WindowsFormsApp\Test");
    string desFile =Path.Combine( @"D:\Test\VSC#\01\WindowsFormsApp\WindowsFormsApp\Test - Copy\"+Path.GetFileName(folders[1]));
    File.Move(folders[1], desFile);
    In addition, the link below might be useful to you:
    # How to: Copy, Delete, and Move Files and Folders (C# Programming Guide)
    >> The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
    The message seemed that the file was opened in other process. Did you operate the file with other code?
    I think you could check if the files and the folders were opened, and review your codes if they were used in other places.
    If you have any further questions, please feel free to post in this forum.

    Edward

    Ya, Thanks I figured about the path and destation. yes I am using the file in another area, the file is an image jpg and I am displaying it in a picture box. Now I have been doing a little research I see a command called Dispose() and this is suppose to
    release the handle on the image, but I can seem to figure out have to use it correctly.

  • Move-item: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

    Hey,
    I have a powershell script where I first use Get-childitem to receive a number of files.
    Then I do some stuff with it and try to move the file afterwards.
    Unfortunately if I am using a lot of files I receive very often the error:
    The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
    Even -Force parameter does not help further.
    Based on my look around it is not used by another process.
    I think it is still 'in use' by powershell from script commands previously.
    Is there any way to 'see' if the file is still in use currently and wait for this to end?
    Or can I 'close' the current usage of the file?
    Thank you :)

    Hey,
    Thank you.
    I build the following function.
    But either the $return = $true I receive "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." when I try to move-item... :(
    Function Wait-FileUnlock($FilePath){
    Write-Host " "
    $FileInfo = New-Object System.IO.FileInfo $($FilePath)
    DO{
    try{
    $fileStream = $fileInfo.Open([System.IO.FileMode]::Open, [System.IO.FileAccess]::Read, [System.IO.FileShare]::Read)
    $return = $true
    catch{
    Start-Sleep -Milliseconds 5
    Write-Host "." -NoNewline
    $return = $false
    While($return -ne $true)
    $Error
    return $return
    Another functions is:
    Function Wait-FileUnlock($FilePath){
    Write-Host " "
    DO{
    $Error.Clear()
    Rename-Item $FilePath $FilePath -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Out-Null
    Start-Sleep -Milliseconds 5
    Write-Host "." -NoNewline
    While($Error.Count -ne 0)
    This one waits .. but it seems not to end waiting at any time :(

  • FRM-92220: access to system clipboard is denied

    Hi,
    Within a customer's application Error FRM-92220 "access to system clipboard is denied" is returned when the customer switches between screens within the application.
    I have not been able to find a reference for this error nor am I experienced with Forms.
    Can anyone help and give a solution or point into the right direction to help the customer with this error?
    Thanks in advance.
    Peter

    As found in the Internal Support Portal:
    Ideally, the error FRM-92220 will be thrown due to the the reason that there is a security check introduced by the JRE in one of their updates/upgrades sometime around JRE 1.5 was released. If the System clipboard is accessed by another OS application, then JRE cannot access the clipboard hence resulting in the error. If no OS application (like word or anyother tool ) then you wont have this error. Avoiding this error is not in the hands of Forms, its a question of whether JRE can access the clipboard at that particular moment
    In earlier versions like 9.0.4 and 10.1.2, this new security measure by Sun JRE has resulted in Java exceptions and abrupt termination of the JVM in the client machines resulting in Forms disconnection. Hence Forms development introduced the new applet parameter to capture and re-route the messages to the java console
    allowAlertClipboard=true
    Setting it to false, will not show these errors and will sent to jre console.
    There is very little you can with respect to Forms coding. I would recommend you to set the following
    allowAlertClipboard=false
    at the moment when the error comes, the forms process will capture and send it to console. Later, if the System clipboard is released by other processed which were holding it, then the clipboard can be accessed again, there is nothing that you need to do specifically.

  • Handling process in a remote system

    how to list processes,
    start processes,
    and kill processes in a remote system from a server. and how to get configuration information of a remote system.
    Return information regarding: logical memory configuration, physical and logical disk and partition configuration including free-space, processor information, network adapter configuration and information, page file configuration and information, OS information.

    Write a program that collects the information and sends it to another system. How to get the data: consult your operating system's programming manuals. How to send data through sockets: google for java socket tutorial.
    Much of the information you list can be accessed only using non-portable operating system and CPU dependent means. If you write the program in Java you may need to call C, C++, and assembly language code through JNI to gather some of the information. Unless your operating system offers a Java API for that information; most OSs only offer C or C++ APIs.

  • I deleted the profile and firefox4 and then downloaded firefox4 again. But when i click firefox it says Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process,or restart your system.HELP!

    somehow i couldn't get rid of one website called www.searchqu.com/405 set as my homepage... I tried all solutions given to change the homepage but whenever i restarted firefox that homepage used to come automatically.. So, I deleted the profile (even from recycle bin!!) and deleted the firefox and downloaded it again hoping to get my problems fixed (which didn't happen!) because i'm getting dialog box saying- Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.

    You don't say which operating system you have installed?
    Assuming it's Windows, right click a blank part of the Windows Taskbar and go to Task Manager. Then click the ''Processes ''tab, find '''firefox.exe''' and then right click it and choose '''End Process'''.
