Process types(Variants) missing

hi friends,
I have created a process chain with 5 process types(All are loading data ). I loaded data whenever necessary. when I monitoring the process chain which was run last, I did not see last two process types(variants) in my log view.this is most urgent task... is any possibility to remove process types in BI 7.0....
now I am working in BI 7.0, I could not find why it happened.....
Guide and help me...

Once the predecessor process gets finished it triggers the sucessor process ....
If it has not done till now ... why dont you check the job in SM37 and also see if you have free processes or not

I created a Selective Delete Variant (Delete_Facts) with some data selection upon which data to be deleted, to be used in Process chain.
My requirment is
I need to include that in the process chain in a such a way that that variant should be executed only on FIRST DAY of every month.
(First day of every month Selective deletion on data tardet will be performed....rest of the days no selective deletion is performed)
Please advise how can i achieve this

Hi,
You can probably create a seperate chain containing this variant alone, and schedule it to run on the first of every month.
This can be done by right clicking on the start variant, and selecting the option periodic, and giving the periodic value, where you have values "hourly","daily", "weekly", "monthly", otherperiod. Another try can be to click on the arrow at the top beside "At Operation Mode" and d specify a factory calendar. I am not much sure of this option.
another option is that you can try using the procecc type "Decision Between Multiple Alternatives " and check if calendar day is first of the month then execute your variant, or else execute the other normal steps. You can get more info on this functionality from BI-ExpertOnline.

BI custom process type (ABAP OO Class): how to create a variant screen?

I created a custom process type in Netweaver 2004s (business intelligence) which in essence is nothing but an Abap class that implements certain interfaces. What I am now struggling with is how to write the code for the "new variant" input screen.
My understanding is that the logic has to be implemented in the method IF_RSPC_MAINTAIN~MAINTAIN, but I am lacking detailed information.
Can someone give me an example with a variant screen that displays two radio buttons?

It is a custom class that implements the following interfaces:
IF_RSPC_GET_VARIANT
IF_RSPC_MAINTAIN
IF_RSPC_EXECUTE
The interface I am struggling with is the first one (get variant). Any more insight on how this should be used would be highly appreciated.

Custom Process Type - Creating the variant screen

My custom process type's logic is rather simple: run parts of the process chain only if it is the first day of the month, other parts only if it the last day of the month.
I created a new custom process type (ABAP OO Class), but I am now struggling with creating the logic to create/maintain a variant for my custom process type.
My goal is to have a simple interface with two radio buttons where the user clicks on the "new variant" icon. One choice is "run on the first day of the month", the other choice is "run at the last day of the month".
My understanding is that this logic has to be implemented in the method IF_RSPC_MAINTAIN~MAINTAIN.
To support this, I also created a database table that consists of:
- process chain id
- run type (B = beginning of month / E = end of month)
- current process type id (not quite sure how to populate this field yet...)
Can someone now point me into the direction on how the create the variant logic so that the radio buttons get displayed and the table updated with the user's choice?

Error in process chain variant when executing BI IP planning sequence

Hi All,
I am trying to execute a planning sequnce as a background job using a process chain. Here one of the variant failed giving an error as : Overflow occurred when calculating <Key figure name> with value 6.5231044352058409E18+.
I tried executing that process chain variant separately using the ABAP program RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE as a background job, but still its not working.
At last I tried executing the individual planning step in the planning modeler, but again the same error.
Earlier such case was resolved by compressing the planning cube requests and executing the failed variant using the ABAP program, but this time even compression is not helping to solve this.
Can anyone please help on this issue ?

This Key figure is created of the data type CURR (Stored as decimal) for Amount type. Now the length of CURR is maintained by SAP as 17 with 2 decimal places, so do you mean that I have to switch to other data type to hold the large value that is getting generated.
My concern is : the error is coming for just one of the variant of the chain and not for other variants. If it has something to do with the KF data type, then certainly all others variants must have thrown the same error.

Process Type ABAP does not work properly via process chain

Dear SDNers
I am running a process chain and it contains process type ABAP program. ABAP program was running correctly till now via this process chain. ABAP program process type generally takes approximately 2 hours to run. But now, this process type for ABAP program just run for less than 1 minute and finishes successfully. The issue is that ABAP program does not run at all.
I ran the ABAP program in background and it took approximately 2 hours to run. ABAP Program is local means in our BW system and does not involve Remote Function call. We have BI7.0 system
Has some one came across this type of issue?

What happens if you create an adhoc chain and include this ABAP variant, does it run then?

If you want to send a friendly message to your users, then you can do this by building an ABAP program that calls function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 . You can then insert this ABAP program in your process chain (using the ABAP program process type) or as a second step in your background job. With this technique, you can send an email to SAP users, or to external users (e..g Outlook email addresses)
Here's a sample ABAP code:

You can test out the function module first in SE37 (just put the name of the FM and click execute). Testing it in SE37 will help you get your parameters right.

Process Type - Delete overlapping requests from an Info Cube

I have read many threads on this topic, still have some questions. To give you background, I will be doing delta load (delta process chain). But before delta, I want to do setup initialization (init process chain). I want to use this process type in my init process chain to delete all data in my cube loaded from a specific ods. I cannot use delete all contents process type because many odss feed the same cube.
1.     Do you put this process type after Load Data or before Load Data. I have seen both cases in SDN forums.
2.     Variant of this process type is an info package. Does this info package have to be same as in load data step or it can be different.
3.     I want to delete all data in cube which was loaded from my ods. Term overlapping is confusing to me. Will this process type delete all data or not.

Yes, you can do that. Goto RSPC - under process types Load Process and Post Processing, you will see DELETE OVERLAP REQUESTS FROM INFOCUBE option is there.
Select the proper check boxes like same sourcesystem, same datasource etc...
If it is one time deletion, why not do that manually?

If output type is missing in PO, can system create a Outbound IDOC for that

Scenario: sales order should get generated in anoter system once PO is saved in first system. But this is not happening for a new vendor. I checked & found that output type is missing in PO. Asked user to provide another PO for which SO was created. I checked that PO, here also output type is missing.
I am surprised that if output type is missing in PO, can system create a Outbound IDOC for that PO? If yes then I am not aware of this process.
Please help me in analyzing this problem.

Thanks for your replay.
I checked for other vendor also. condition records does not exist in NACE for any of them. But user is claiming that sales aorder is getting created for those PO. Though I have asked them to provide the sales order number & possibly outbound IDOC number for at least one vendor.
I tried to search IDOC number with reference to PO number but system is taking too much time & ending with run ime error. Because I do not have details of partner, receiver not even message type. Neither I have any process document which can explain how this process works?
any other approach which may work here?

Further Processing Type In Process Chain

After adding the execute infopackage to process chain automatically DTP, Activate DSO and Furter Processing Variants come by with it .
Now, the data has to go to cube so Delete index etc will be added further, but do I need to have this further processing type or can I just delete it.
Whats it significance?

If you have given some job name in the infopackage schedule(background) statistically to track your job,then after completion of this job system doesn't know which process has to be run..so to connect between the next process we need to take this(further processing type) and give the name of the above job name in this process..
If you don't give the background job name statically..system creates a job with some name and it knows to identify the next process..

Error in process chain variant

Hi all.
I get an error "Variant ALL is not persistent" when I try to add the "Adjustment of Time-Dependent Aggregates"(TIMCHNGRUN) process type to mye process chain. The error message is RSPC023. I am unable to change the variant, or create a new one. I get the same error if I try.
I suspect that this variant is corrupt or something like that. Any help on this one?

Using BPC Process Type Optimize in Process chain

Hi,
BW Process chain fails at BPC Process Type Optimize though Appset, Application, User field values are passed as below.

Please let me know if I am missing any parameters. Is there a better way of executing Optimize as part of process chain.

they are SEM cubes; and there are several situations sometimes the rollup gets stucks..; for example if some users do the planning in the same cube, or locks.,,etc..we tried to tell all the planner not to do any activities during the daily process chain time. we are doing rollup and compress every day for the sem cubes.

In the Plan View of the process chain maintenance screen.
In the left-hand area of the screen, a navigation area is displayed. In the right-hand area of the screen, the process chain is displayed.
Use the drag-and-drop function to add the relevant processes into your process chain.
You use the Process Types function to select the processes. This sorts the process types according to different categories. You can also call up InfoPackages and processes for the data target from the separate InfoSources and Data Targets navigation trees.
If you insert into the chain a process that is linked to additional processes, the respective process variants are generated and inserted into the process chain automatically. These variants are suggestions and can be changed, replaced or removed from the chain if required.
Only if the attribute realignment run is inserted automatically, do you also arrive at the variant maintenance screen.
If you want to specify yourself the processes that are to be included in a chain, choose Settings ® Default Chains, and select the Do Not Suggest Processes option. As a result, the system does not suggest, generate, or insert automatically any processes into the chain. This setting is user-specific.
If the chain that you create does not correspond to the standard, the system displays a warning. You can ignore these warnings if you are sure that you are creating a chain that meets your requirements. Warnings do not affect how the chain operates during runtime.
Your chain is checked in the checking view and during activation. The system tells you if it discovers any errors.
Creating a Process Chain Using the Maintenance Dialog for a Process
You are in the maintenance dialog of a process that you want to include in a process chain.
1. Choose the Process Chain Maintenance pushbutton and create a process variant.
2. Save the variant and go back to the previous screen.
A dialog window appears in which you enter a technical name and a description of the chain that you want to create.
3. Confirm your entries.
The Add Start Process dialog window appears.
4. Create a variant for a start process.
1. a. On the Maintain Start Process screen, choose whether you want to schedule the chain directly or whether you want to start it using a metachain.
2. b. If you choose to schedule the chain directly, enter the start date value for the chain under Change Selections and save your entries.
The Maintain Start Process screen appears again.
3. c. Save your entries, return to the previous screen and confirm your entries in the Add Start Process dialog window.

Various functions for working with the process are available from the context menu:

Maintain Variants With the exception of the variants in the collection process, you can use this function to change all process variants.
Exchange Variants You can swap the variants for an existing variant or a new variant.
Display Scheduled Jobs Once the process chain is active, you can use this function to display the jobs that have been scheduled.
Display All Jobs After at least one run of the process chain, you can display, for a specific process, all of the scheduled jobs for this process and all of the jobs with which this process was run. You arrive at the job overview from where you call up the relevant job log.
Create Message You can also send messages to an application process of the chain, depending on the success or failure of the process.
1. 1. From the context menu of a process, create an additional process variant of the Send Message type.
2. 2. If you maintain a message, first specify whether you want the message to be sent when the process has been completed successfully or unsuccessfully. Then choose Next.
3. 3. You arrive at a window, in which you can select an existing process variant or create a new one.
4. 4. If you create a new process variant, edit the document that is going to be sent, and maintain a list of recipients.
5. 5. Save your process variant and go back a step.
The message process variant is now assigned to your application process. When the message is sent, the status information and the process log can also be sent.
Wait Time
You use this function only to debug a process run.
Specify how long (in seconds) you want the delay to be between one event being triggered and the next process starting.
You can capture the process by using transaction SM37 (Job Overview) or SM50 (Process Overview).
Remove Process You use this function to remove a process from a process chain.
Manage Data Target You use this function in connection with the following types of process variants
1. constructing indexes
2. deleting indexes
3. constructing database statistics
4. rolling up filled aggregates
5. compressing InfoCubes
6. activating ODS object data
to call up the administration for each of the data targets.
7. Hold down the left mouse button to connect the processes through events.
Before you do this, select the process underneath the process type row, and position the cursor over the required process. When you select the process type row, the whole process is moved into the plan view.
From the context menu of a link, you can display the event or remove the link again. To do this, highlight the link and right-click with the mouse.
8. If necessary, specify whether you want the event to be triggered after the previous process has been completed successfully or unsuccessfully or whether you want the event to be triggered independently of the outcome of the process that precedes it.
9. Under Attributes ®Display Components assign a display component to the process chain.
10. Maintain additional process chain attributes if necessary.
11. Check your process chain in the Check View and make any necessary corrections.
The Legend explains the meaning of the different colors used to display the processes and links.
From the context menu for a process, you can display the messages resulting from the check.
12. Save your process chain if it does not contain any errors.
Result
Your process chain can be activated. After activation, the chain starts in accordance with the start process selections. For example, if you scheduled the start process directly and chose Immediately as the start date value, the chain run starts immediately after activation. In the Log View, you can display the reports for the chain runs.

Error in Including Roll Up Process Type into Process Chain

Dear Experts,
On BI 7.0, I found an error, when including the Roll Up Process Type into my process chain. The sequence of my first process chain looks like this.
Start -> Execute Infopackage -> Execute DTP to load data to DSO -> Delete Cube Index -> Execute DTP to load data to cube -> Create Cube Index -> Roll Up
I found this error when activating the process chain
'No type "Delete Index" process can be in front of process "Roll Up of Filled Aggregates/BIA Indexes" variable ROLLUP_ZHRF_C04
Then, after looking through the forum, I found someone suggest using 'Initial Fill' before 'Roll Up'. I followed his sugguestion, so my second process chain looks like this.
Start -> Execute Infopackage -> Execute DTP to load data to DSO -> Delete Cube Index -> Execute DTP to load data to cube -> Create Cube Index -> Initial Fill -> Roll Up
The same message is shown; however, this time it just a warning message instead of the error msg.
1) How can I solve this problem?
2) In which sequence of process types I should take for my process chain?
3) Must I always use the Initial Fill before the Roll Up in the process chain?

This issue is with patch 16 of BI. The only solution i think is you need to create a local chain with start process -> rollup and include all the roll up cubes in that variant and include this local chain at the end of the main chain. Hope this helps.
