Procurement type Vs Price Control

Dear All,
We are maintaining price control as V for procurement type F, and S for E.
Is there any possibility, for automatic change in price control when the changing the procurement type from F to E.
Regards,
Venkat.

Hello Venkat,
Price control is for Material master, but not for the procurement type. Once you set the price control in the material master (i.e. in Accounting view of the material master) system will calculate the stock value (i.e. for internal stock updation by value purpose) in the material master.
As you said, material price control is V (i.e. MAP): Moving average price.
And here,
F ---> an Account assignment of Customer Individual requirement
S --> Thirdparty Item category (i.e.TP is a type of procurement)
E --> an Account assignment for Order
It is not possible to change the price control automatically when you change the procurement type manually. Because the price control (i.e. V or S is possible) setup is done at Master data configuration (i.e. Material type configuration). But document (i.e. creation of PO) level it is not possible.
Suggestion: Changing the price control of a material master always is not advisable. Because there will be lot of impact on Inventory and as well as Finance. And moreover it is a configuration setup for material type (i.e. property of a material or material master) in sap. Hence it is not possible at document level.
Hope this will clarifies you,
Reward, if it helps,

  • Procurement type X & price control

    Dear Gurus,
    Please note the following scenario:
There is one material (HALB) having procurement type X. Now I think valuation class for the material can be kept 7900 but the price contrl should be the V (moving avaerage price) since we are procuring outside as well as manufacturing in house.
    Your opinion please.
    Regards,
    SAP CONS

    Hi,
As per my opinion, it should be S ( Standard Price) as price control even though your procurement type is X since as per standard SAP recommendations Standard price is recommended for Semifinished & Finished products even though your procurement type is X and you may procure it from outside.
However, you have not specified that procuring outside is simply buying or subcontracting because if it is subcontracting then in that case also you may be providing components to vendor i.e. you may be creating subcontracing BOM and receiving final products.
Also it is recommended to keep price of salable products i.e. SFG / FG since in case of moving avg. price there are chances of huge variances & impacts on your product costing.
So I will suggest go for standard price. However, wait for other experts opinion as well.

    Hi,
1st decide price control for your material type & enter in OMS2 with your material type in Price control field in Valuation segment.
Get field name of price control: MBEW-VPRSV
Get Selection Group for price control in T.code: OMSR: 32
Check Field reference for your material type in T.code: OMS2
Select round box of  u201CDisplayu201D for   Selection Group 32 by double clicking Field reference & save.
Now create material (MM01) with your material type and you can find Price control defaulted which you enter in OMS2 and it can not changed.

  • Price control in material master.

    Dear all,
How can i change the Price control key(V to S) in material master.
and what are the implication after change the price control.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Vishal Garg

    Hello
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
Standard price & Moving average price.
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
Changing the Type of Price Control
Under certain conditions, you can change the type of price control:
From standard price to moving average price
You can make this change at any time. The moving average price (which until now has been updated for informational purposes only) replaces the standard price and is used for valuation from now on.
From moving average price to standard price
You cannot make this change in the following two cases:
If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation
If the standard price comes from costing and is not equal to the moving average price
If the change is possible, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
    An example is given below:
Standard price to Moving average price
    Material A
    Price control: S
    Moving average Price: 8
    Standard Price: 10
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 1000
Now we change the material price control to 'V'. Then
    Material A
    Price control: M
    Moving average price:10
    Standard price: 10
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 1000
    Moving average to standard price
    Material B
    Price control: V
    Moving average Price: 8
    Standard Price: 0
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 800
Now we change the material price control to 'S'. Then
    Material B
    Price control: S
    Moving average price:8
    Standard price: 8
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 800
Hope this will clear your doubts.

  • Price control

    Hi All,
I am new to SAP MM,
What is the main difference between standard price and moving average price, And While I am creating the Material  (Material Type is Drinks) it will take Moving Average Price(V) Only, We cant able to change this, Why?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sudheer.

    HI,
    Use
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
    Standard price
    Moving average price
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
    Integration
You determine the price control that should be used for a material when you create the material and enter the accounting data for it. You enter one of the following indicators in the Price control field to determine how the price is controlled:
    S for standard price control
V for moving average price control
    Standard Price
All inventory postings are carried out at the standard price
Variances are posted to price difference accounts
    Variances are updated
    Price changes can be monitored
If a material is assigned a standard price (S), the value of the material is always calculated at this price. If goods movements or invoice receipts contain a price that differs from the standard price, the differences are posted to a price difference account. The variance is not taken into account in valuation.
    Moving Average Price
Goods receipts are posted at the goods receipt value.
The price in the material master is adjusted to the delivered price.
Price differences occur only in exceptional circumstances.
Manual price changes are usually unnecessary. However, they are possible.
If a material is assigned a moving average price (MAP), the price is automatically adjusted in the material master record when price variances occur. If goods movements or invoice receipts are posted using a price that differs from the moving average price, the differences are posted to the stock account; as a result, the moving average price and the value of the stock change.
If drinks is your material type then what habe you defined price control in OMS2? from which material type did you copy to create drinks as your material type?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran

  • Changing price control indicator and posting difference to sperate account

    Dear Guru's
Need your advice on how to handle the following scenario. Company wants to change the Price ontrol indicator in a material from V(moving price average) to S(Standard cost). However there is stock in the inventory for this item.Additionally they also want to change the price of the item with the difference posted to a seperate balence sheet account.

    Hello
While changing the price control, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
For changing the material price, use revaluation MR21.
At the time of price change, for a material subject to standard price control, the material debit or credit is posted to a price difference account. The offsetting entry is made to an income or expense account. Consequently, a material debit or credit for a material subject to standard price control does not lead to a revaluation.

  • Change price control V to S

    Hi there:
We wanted to change price control type from V to S and also need to input 20 usd as standard price, so I went ot mm02 to change price control V to S, after that,I used mr21 to update standard price, then I saw price change document posted, do I need to change other area? Please advise.

    Hi,
From standard price to moving average price
You can make this change at any time. The moving average price (which until now has been updated for informational purposes only) replaces the standard price and is used for valuation from now on.
From moving average price to standard price
You cannot make this change in the following two cases:
If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation For more information, see Split Valuation.

  • Shall v maintain price control  for material type with plant specific ?

    Hai Guru,
In OMS2, we change HALB price control [valuation] as V or S.  whether shall v maintain this for plant specific.?
    Kindly guide
    With Regards
    Swetha

    Hi
if you do not make the indicator Price control manadatory active then you can have different price indicator for each plant. However thsi indicator is never done plant specific. If you wish to have plant specific then you may have to have a new material type and again you need to control the MM01 creation for that particular plant by means of Authorisation control which is littel involved also but can be done.

  • Default Price Control in material type

While creating a material in particular material type is there any way that price control type i.e V or S can be configured for a particular material type.
Edited by: amitekum on Nov 3, 2010 1:00 PM

    Hi,
You can maintain default price control indicator at the time of creating material master record.
If you user needs to change this indicator, they can change.
If Client is saying, don't want to allow these indicator change - You can control by maintaining material type settings.
    Transcation : OMS2
Select your material type abd click on the details icon
In the Valuation block, maintain Price control field default as per ur requirement.
    Price control = S or V
If you activated   Priice ctrl mandatory  check box, which is in the same block then Price control indiactor filed becomes displaymode in the material master record. No one can change default price control indicator.,

  • Change of price control in material master

    Hi, SAP experts,
We have  business scenario where the procurement type in MRP-2 view of material master gets changed from F to  E that is an externally procured item will be manufactured inhouse.
In such case in costing view the price control needs to be changed from V to S. If both MAP & std. price  are not identical, system is not allowing to change. Secondly since the item will be manufactured inhouse from now onwards, I have to run the cost estimate & update the master.
How do I deal with the situation.
    Valuable advice is awaited.
    Regds
    T.S.Shankar

    Hi Shankar,
When the price control indicator is "V", system will allow changing the Standard price manually through Transaction code MM02.
Similarly when the price control indicator is "M", system will allow changing the Moving average price manually through Transaction code MM02.
    Hope this clarifies

  • Special Procurement Type(SPT) u0096 Cross Plant Costing

    Hi,
I am reviewing PC config as part of a post implementation analysis.  Is there a report the shows the cross plant costing relationships?  I am concerned that a MFG to hub relationship was not followed.  For example I have materials in MFG plant 1234 with a SPT from MFG plant 5678.  I also have materials in plant 5678 with SPT from plant 1234.  I am worried about a circular reference during product costing – not real sure which plant to cost first.  Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Bill
The SPT for Cost are the same as used on the MRP screens.
The costing program looks to the field of Spec Procurment type fof Costing FIRST, if it is populated it follows the rules.  If not populated then it looks to Spec Procurment type on MRP, if not populated, rules in the costing variants are followed.
Our product cost specialist maintains the field via CATT/and custom programs.
    Our specific issue was:
Part A is manufactured in Denmark at Std price control
USA plant acquires it from Denmark and uses as a component in equipment.
The SPT on MRP drove both events.
Processes changed and all parts made Denmark were store in the Belgium warehouse at moving average.
The definition of the SPT was changed and suddenly Cost was coming from a moving average in Belgium.
    Not what we wanted.
So we created an SPT for Cost and populated Costing 1.
Now cost comes from Denmark and material comes from Belgium.
    Hope this helps

  • Reg price control for semifinished material

    Dear all,
What is the price control to be given for semifinished which will be sent to subcontractor sometimes and produced in house when there are no orders.
    Thanks in advance
    Madhav

    Dear Venumadhav,
In my understanding this comes under split valuation. If not then you can use mixed costing for the same.
Because standard price can be used for the products produced inhouse and moving average price for the externally procured items
    and the sub-contracted items.
check this link also to explore more.

  • MR21 for split valuation & price control "V"

    hi all,
Case: Split valuation is activated but parent has price control "V" and child i.e. diff valuation types have "S". We want to make std prices of all valuation types "0". It is done but the parent still shows value in MAP.
    a. How do we make MAP of parent as "0" (price control "V"), will it allow?
    b. Will it impact and how e.g. MB5L
    c. Is it ok if we ignore the valuation of parent
    d. All valuation types under parent are made "0"
    Thx
    Bhushan

    Hi
The price control at the plant level will always be V,where at the valuation type level either V or S can be maintianed. It is not recommeneded to ignore the valuation class at the plalnt level in case of split valuation because if you are going for costing run then this needs to be maintained.becoz cost of a material procured needs to be determined at plant level

  • Production costs for material with price control V

    Dear all,
Can anyone pls tell me, how will the costing occur for a material produced in-house and having price control 'V' ? I am not able to see the target costs.
Also kindly tell me the settings to be done in CO, like target cost version, valuation variant, costing variant, etc.
    Thank you,
    Shrenik

Rather than giving my own versions I have compiled here SAP inputs. Pl let me know if you require any clarifications:
Costing variant has the following components:
    <b>Define Costing Types
    Define Valuation Variants
    Define Date Control
    Define Quantity Structure Control
    Define Transfer Strategy
    Define Reference Variants</b>
    <u>Costing type:</u>
In the costing type, you define the purpose of a material cost estimate by specifying, for example, which field in the material master record the costing results can be transferred to:
    Update Cost Estimate
Standard price Standard cost estimate (01)
    Tax-based price Inventory cost estimate
    Commercial price Inventory cost estimate
Price other than std price Modified standard cost estimate or
    current cost estimate
    No update Any cost estimate
    Define Valuation Variants:
    Define Valuation Variants
Here you create a valuation variant containing the parameters required for valuation of a cost estimate.
You also specify which costing sheet should be used to calculate overhead.
    Valuation Strategies
    Material valuation
Here you define the sequence in which the system searches for prices from the accounting view or costing view of the material master record to valuate materials. You can also access prices from purchasing info records and condition types.
For material cost estimates, you also specify whether additive costs can be added to the selected price.
With configurable/configured material components and with procurement alternatives, the sequence defined here is ignored if the strategy "price from purchasing info record" was selected, in which case that strategy is always executed first. For more information, refer to the SAP Library in the component Product Cost Planning under Raw Material Costing or Mixed Costing.
    Activity Types / Processes
Here you define the sequence in which the system searches for prices in activity type planning or actual activity price calculation in Cost Center Accounting or Activity-Based Costing to valuate the utilized activity types and business processes.
You also specify which plan/actual version is used.
    Subcontracting
Here you define the sequence in which the system searches for prices in the purchasing info record. In purchasing, quota arrangements are used to create a mixed price for materials that are manufactured with external vendors with parts provided by the customer. You can specify whether the quota of the individual vendors that are entered in the source list for the material to be processed should be determined through the planned quota arrangement or the actual quota arrangement.
    External processing
Here you define the sequence in which the system searches for prices in the purchasing info record or routing operation for valuation of the external activities.
    Strategy Sequence
You define the individual valuation methods for the valuation variant as strategy sequences. For the valuation of the material components you define a strategy sequence that reads the fields of the material master record in a particular sequence such as:
    1. Planned price 1
    2. Standard price
    3. Moving price
The first price that is not zero is used to valuate the material component.
    Target versions:
Target cost versions  are used in the following ways:
    In variance calculation:
To control which variance (total variance, production variances or planning variance) is calculated
To valuate unplanned scrap( scrap variance)
Unplanned scrap is valuated in the period-end closing activities when the variances are calculated. You can specify in a valuation variant for WIP and scrap which cost estimate you want to use to calculate the target costs for the valuation of unplanned scrap. You assign the valuation variant to target cost version 0 if you want to include it in the valuation of scrap.
When you are using a cost object hierarchy with active distribution, you use the target cost version to control which cost estimate the system uses to calculate the target costs, which are used as the basis for determining equivalences for actual cost distribution.
The actual costs collected at the level of the hierarchy are distributed across the orders in accordance with these equivalences. This distribution is proportional to the target costs for the cost element under which the actual costs are written. Actual costs for material costs are distributed in proportion to the target costs for the origin group, such as for the material, if you have entered an origin group in the costing view of the material master record and have set the indicator Material origin, for example.
If no target costs were calculated under this cost element, enter a cost element group in the target cost version. The actual costs are distributed in proportion to the target costs for this cost element group. This cost element group should be complete. If costs were updated under a cost element that is not in this cost element group, no distribution is possible.
You can calculate equivalences on the basis of SAP standard target cost versions 0, 1 and 3.
The standard system supplies the following target cost versions:
Target cost version 0 ( total variance)
The amount of the total variance generates a posting in Financial Accounting during settlement.
For this version, select actual costs as the control costs and standard cost estimate as the target costs.
Target cost version 1 ( production variance)
For this version you choose actual costs as the control costs and planned costs as the target costs.
Target cost version 2( planning variance)
With target cost version 2, the costs from the preliminary order cost estimate are interpreted as control costs.
For this version, select planned costs as the control costs and current cost estimate as the target costs. You cannot calculate planning variances for the product cost collector.
Target cost version 3 (production variance of the period)
You compare the planned costs of the period calculated on the basis of an alternative material cost estimate (such as a modified standard cost estimate) with the actual costs of the period on the basis of the yield delivered to stock in the period.
The base quantity for variance calculation is the yield.
For this version, you choose the actual costs as the control costs and the alternative material cost estimate as the target costs. To determine the alternative material cost estimate, enter a costing variant and choose a costing version.
The target cost version specifies which data is to be compared. The target cost version also specifies which variance variant is used and therefore which variance catagories are calculated. You can define a different target cost version for each controlling area
