Product Cost Estimate without Recipe

Dear SAP colleagues,
I am facing a problem that standard cost estimate is gettting released (thru CK40N) even if there is no recipe for some products.
I tried searching if there is a possibility of setting some error message (OBA5)  but could nof find any. Since the number of products is huge, it is not possible sometimes to do this check manually for all the products.
Can anyone please help me to avoid this situation?
Thanks,
Prasad.

Hi,
Thanks for the fast feedback. I had already tried it with some messages. But based on your suggestion, I tried with some more messages. Below are the messages which are now set at Error in OPR4_CK.
E     C2     315     Routing & is flagged for deletion
E     CK     159     Routing & & does not exist
E     CK     229     No routing could be determined for material &
E     CK     306     No routing could be determined for material & plant & sel. ID &
E     CK     476     Material &: Routing does not match selection ID &
E     CK     478     No routing could be found with the specified selection criteria
E     CO     807     Task list & not valid for key date &
Despite maintaiing this setting, I am still able to generate the Standrd Cost Estimate without Recipe. There is no error in CK11N.
Is it possible for you to check further & suggest?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Gurus,
can you explain me on below queries
-->in which situation cost estimate without quantity structure is used
---> what is the impotance of credit key in costing sheet.
    Thanks in advance
    Janardhan

There are several situations where you may want to use a cost estimate without quantity structure.  You can use it as an additive cost in conjunction with a cost estimate with quantity structure.  For example to include freight or other expenses in your cost estimate that are not readily available with quantity structure.  You can also use it to develope a cost estimate for a new product where the quantity structure has not yet been fully developed.  You can also use it in a complex manufacturing environment that does not use Boms and routings.
As far as the credit key in overhead sheets are concerned, as the name implies they are used to specify which object is credited during the overhead allocation and what secondary cost element is used in the allocation.  Overhead sheet are just another allocation technique in CO, where you allocate costs from one CO object to another.  The credit key determines the sender object in the allocation.

    Hi Guru's,
For Cost Estimate with Quantity Structure we need to run the following T.Codes....
    1) KP06
    2) KP26
    3) KSPI
    4) CS01
    5) CA01
    6) CR01
    7) CK11N

I want what are the T.Codes for Cost Estimate without Quantity Structure

    Hi,
while am doing T.Code:KKPAN the following issue is coming....
*Material F29 in plant 1000 w/o cost comp split: price acc to val strategy
    Message no. CK193*
    Diagnosis
    When valuating material components,
the system could not find a cost component split for F29 in plant 1000.
    Possible causes:
The material has not been costed.
The material has not been selected for the costing run.
The BOM was changed after the selection or BOM explosion for the costing run was carried out, and the material now has a new low-level code.
This is a configurable material and does not have a costing view in the material master.
The default value for price control is not set in the material type.
The material belongs to a recursive structure. With this material, the system begins the iterative costing of the cycle. You can check in the material overview of the cost estimate whether the material belongs to a cycle.
    System Response
The material is valuated with the price determined through the valuation strategy.
    Procedure
    Check the log.
Carry out selection and BOM explosion for the costing run again.
If the material is a configured material, create a costing view in its master record.
Note: I already checked cost component spilt assigned for Plant....

  • Product cost estimate

    Hi Experts,
Can somebody explain me the theoritical point of need for product cost estimate.  From my know somepeople say we need to enter the standard price in the cost estimate tab of the material master, but sometime i see that when we run the CK11n the price automatically updated in the standard price field of the material master when we mark and relese the std cost estimate.
Do we need to enter price in the material master before the cost estimate for the materials or if we do the cost estimate do we do cost estimate only for the finished products so that all the cost under that product will be calcualted or do we need to do cost estimate for all material raw material, HALB & FERT?
what is the purpose of cost estimate and the result of cost estimate?
    Thank you

    Hi Nivi,
Partly I agree with Pradeep, but I would to add more information regarding product cost estimate concept.
Maintaining material master on Accounting view or Costing view is mandatory prior to run Product Costing. It is true, by maintain price manually you cannot get cost breakdown or what so called as cost component structure. It is initial price which then later can be updated by "process Marking and Release" product cost estimatel.
How the system get the value of material costs and process costs are defined by Costing Variant. Costing variant control how the system find the BOM and routing to calculate the material costing and the production costing. System will access the material  and activity cost based on Valuation variant in the Costing variant. I am sure you can costing variant use in the CK11N.
When the product cost are free of error then, you can go to the process to utilize the product cost estimate to update the material master with CK24 ( update material master indivdually). You can also use mass costing using CK40N - Edit Costing Run to maintain the costing and update material master. So product cost estimate can be run either for finished product (FERT), semi finished product (HALB) or other components
    Hope this help.

  • Product Costing - Quantity Structure Off not working

    Hi All,
I have a Material of Type FERT. It has a BOM of its own. When I do the product costing of this material for costing variant PPC4, it always explodes the BOM, irrespective of its status of Indicator "With Quantity Structure" in its Material Master.
    Note:
    1. Costing Variant PPC4 has Indicator "Ignore Product Cost Estimate Without Quantity Structure" set OFF.
    2. BOM is exploded irrespective of the Procurement Type.
Pl suggest a way to cost FERT Material without Qty. Structure (no explosing of BOM, instead directly pick the cost from the FERT Mat Master)
    Br,
    Vasu

    HI,
    1. FYI, if you maintain procuretype as E or X, then explosion of BOM happen. If you maintain F, it is possible to explode the bom.
    2. Let me say, as per the below reqt, you want to pick up the value from the material master itselt. So, i assume, you maintain future price or planned price in accounting view.
If that is the case, then change the costing variant with T code OKKN and in the valuation variant button with strategy sequence start with Future price from accoutnign or current Planned price.
Please let me know if you expect any clarification in this regard

  • Production order cost estimate

    Hello,
what is prodcution order cost estimate.

    SR,
Production order cost estimate is the estimate of all the costs likey to be incurred on the completion of the production oreder.
Following is the way described how tp do this in SAP.
Creating a Cost Estimate for a Production Order Without Quantity Structure
    Choose Accounting-> Controlling->Cost Object Controlling->Product Cost by Period->Planning->CO Production Order->Create/change plan.
Enter the order and choose ENTER.
The dialog box Copy cost estimate appears. The system proposes a costing variant through the planning profile. Choose a costing variant.
If you want to copy costing items using the reference and simulation costing functions, enter either a base planning object or the material and control parameters for a cost estimate without quantity structure.
Enter the lot size that you want to use for costing, and choose ENTER.
The system displays the list screen of the cost estimate without quantity structure.
    Enter the costing items.
    Save the cost estimate.
If you have entered a costing sheet and (if applicable) an overhead key in the master record of the production order, the system calculates the overhead and assigns it to costing items of item category G. You cannot plan the costs for a production order using a cost estimate without quantity structure if the production order is linked to a run schedule header.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Error during variance calculation for production order "NO cost estimate "

    hi all,
I'm gettin this error message while trying to calculate the variance for a production order. error is "No cost estimate for material xxxx for 01.10.2008.
when i look at material xxx in MM02, under cost estimate for current period there is a value but nothing for previous period. So i'm guessing the the Cost estimate was not run of this material? am i correct here?
Now if i try to run cost estimate for material for the missing periods using CK11N, i get an error "cannot save for past period"
Could some one tell me how can i get a prior year estimate into the material master?
I tried CK40N and CKN1 but just cant get it to work...
    Thanks heaps

    Hi Tom
unfortunately there is no easy way to get a product cost estimate for a past date. One of the reasons for this would be inconsistant product valuation.
You could in theory create a cost estimate in a current date and use an ABAP or manually adjust the valid from and to dates directly in the tables (e.g. KEKO). To do this in a production environment would be restrictive off course.
The standard cost estimate is the basis for the target costs so as an alternative you could look to change the configuration of the target cost version in OKV6 to either of the following:
    - Plan Cost/Preliminary Costing (that is the plan calc done on your production order)
    - Alternative Material Cost Estimate (one that is not necessarily a product costing that is set for marking and release).
I hope this is of some help.

  • Product costing without production planning module

Is there any way to work with product costing module without production planning for service sector.

    Hello
You may use the product costing without quantity structure. This is useful if you do not have PP module but have materials and you need to calculate the standard cost of the materials.
In case you do not have materials and only have kinds of services then these can be created as activities for a cost center like a FICO consulting activity for SAP cost center. You may then calculate a price per hour of the activity and may charge it to the service order/ internal order.

  • Cost estimate creation

    Dear all..
Our client does not require product costing.
He just intrested to run <b>Cost estimates with Qty. Structure </b> i.e.CK11N.
I just want to know what settings are required for that..from start to end.... from controlling area settings to costing sheet if required..
It will be better if anybody will provide configuration links or guides..

    Hi,
Your requirement is not very clear.
However, from what I understand your client does not want to use the functionality of Product Costing beyond the generation of the Standard Cost estimate thru Product Costing. You can generate Standard Cost Estimates without needing to create the PP Master data (BOM, Routing, Master Recipe) as follows:
    1) Enter the plan price in the Plan Price 1 field and execute a CK11N using the appropriate costing variant.
As long as there is no integration with PP/PP-PI on the material master record the system will create "material" cost estimates.
    Regards,
    Assign points if useful.

  • Product costing issues

1)what is different bitwen with quantity structureand with out quantity structure?
2)what is valvated stocks and non valvated stocks?
3)what is the need of cost component structure , how many segments can be define in cost component structure?
4)how we are going to do work ing progress in product cost
    5) what are the status in order, types of order?

    Dear Pradeep,
1.Material Is Costed with Quantity Structure
This indicator determines whether the material is costed using costing with or without a quantity
    structure.
This setting can be found in Costing1 view in the material master.
    Use
If you usually cost materials using costing with quantity structure, turn on this indicator.
If you usually cost materials using costing without quantity structure, do not turn on this indicator.
You can change the indicator in the material master record at a later time.
    Procedure
If you always cost your materials (including raw materials) using costing with quantity structure, you
should turn on this indicator. This improves performance, because the system does not search in vain
for existing cost estimates without a quantity structure for every material when it explodes the BOM.
Therefore, only turn on this indicator if you normally cost the materials using costing without quantity
    structure.
Regardless of the setting, you can cost a single material with or without quantity structure. However,
you should bear in mind that this setting is always used in the costing run and in mixed costing
    (creating procurement alternatives).
CK11N and CK40N is used for costing material with quantity structure.
KKPAN is used for creating material cost estimate without quantity structure.
2.Valuated stock is the stock of the materials maintained in value basis,it may be under Restricted use
    or non-restricted use .
    Nonvaluated materials (UNBW)
Nonvaluated materials are managed on a quantity basis, but not by value.
5.status in a production order are for Eg,
    REL  Released
    PCNF Partially confirmed
    PRC  Pre-costed
BCRQ Order to be handled in b
    GMPS Goods movement posted
    MANC Mat.availability not che
    PDLV Partially delivered
    SETC Settlement rule created
So after performing each business funtion the status of the production order changes.

  • Automatic cost estimate while transferring to accounting.

While Posting billing Document from SD to FI, I am getting error as mention below
" The system tried to read the product cost estimate for product 20000050 using the costing variant aZPC4 and the costing version 01.
However, the product cost estimate has the status KF, which means that it contains errors. Therefore the cost estimate is not valid."
When we try to do the cost estimate manually then it estimates without errors.
    Waiting eagerly for your replies,
    Ariel Desa

First, you need to make sure you cost the material without errors (the status will then be KA)
Then you need to mark and release (*please see note below)  your cost using transaction CK24. The status will then change to FR.
(*PS: If your system is setup to read Future Cost Estimates, you only need to mark the Cost Estimate and not release it.)
You can now release your Billing to FI.
    Cheers.

    Kindly suggest any solution

    Hi Friend,
For that product you dont have the valid cost estimate, that's why the recent cost was not updated to the material master. And at the same time, system is telling that you have a standard cost estimate with errors. Go to CKR1 and remove the cost estimate and create a new one without erros. Then post billing document.
