Production support monitoring

Can someone pls send me a list of SRM monitoring activities that are performed by production support team to my e-mail; arpita76 at gmail.com
i will award points.
thanks in advance,
arpita

when you have the role
SAP_BBP_STAL_ADMINISTRATOR
you can see application monitors of SRM
here you can see which diff business documents have gone in error
also you have monitoring tools like
SLG1 -application logs
SMQ1/SMQ2 - to check QRFC
ST22 - runtime error
SM21 - error logs
SM04 - sessions locked
RZ20 - expert monitors
If you have SUS and hence XI in place
need to monitor XML transmission

  • Best Practices for APO Production Support

What are the best practices needs to be adopt for APO Production Support? in DP, SNP, PP/DS, CIF, APO-basis, APO -ABAP area?

I know this is not the standard way to reach you, but you answered a question long back about /SAPAPO/AMON1 - Alert Monitor.  Can this alert monitor be configured to show up in the universal worklist (UWL) in the portal?  if so would these alerts show up in the alert inbox of the uwl just as other sap alerts do? (the other alerts i speak of are those referenced here (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/3f/81023cfa699508e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm).
Or are these alerts two totally different types of functionality with the same name (ARERT) ?
    Thanks

  • Can any explain APO -DP/SNP production support.

    Hi sap gurus..
this is suresh ,i am new for APO -DP/SNP production support,
exactly what my role and responsibilities in production support, what i can do
please any one healp me i am very thankful to them.
    regards
    suresh kumar

    Hi Suresh,
    In DP/SNP production support,
    1)  You need to monitor business related background jobs on daily/weekly/monthly basis
    2)  You need to analyse and take corrective actions for failed jobs
    3)  Any production related issue, you may receive tickets and accordingly you need to analyse the issue and find out suitable solutions in line with client
    4)  Documentation activities if any needs to be carried out
    5)  For system downtimes/incidents, suitable back ups/job retriggerings needs to be done
    6)  In DP, updation of CVCs/planning book data extraction if any needs to be carried out.

  • Issues in production support

    hi,
can any one  send me documents related to Production support issues and how to fix them.
you can mail me at [email protected]
    thanks,
    ram.

    Hi,
Normally the production support activities include
    Scheduling
    R/3 Job Monitoring
    B/W Job Monitoring
Taking corrective action for failed data loads.
Working on some tickets with small changes in reports or in AWB objects.
The activities in a typical Production Support would be as follows:
    1. Data Loading - could be using process chains or manual loads.
    2. Resolving urgent user issues - helpline activities
    3. Modifying BW reports as per the need of the user.
    4. Creating aggregates in Prod system
    5. Regression testing when version/patch upgrade is done.
    6. Creating adhoc hierarchies.
    Also refer these posts:

    production support
frequent load failures during extractions and how to analyse them?
If these failures are related to Data, there might be data inconsistency in source system. Though we are handling properly in transfer rules. We can monitor these issues in T-code -> RSMO and PSA (failed records) and update.
If we are talking about whole extraction process, there might be issues of work process scheduling and IDoc transfer to target system from source system. These issues can be re-initiated by canceling that specific data load and ( usually by changing Request color from Yellow - > Red in RSMO). and restart the extraction.
As to frequent failures and errors , there is no fixed reason for the load to be fail , if you want it for the interview perspective I would answer it in this way.
    a) Loads can be failed due to the invalid characters
    b) Can be because of the deadlock in the system
    c) Can be because of previous load failure , if the load is dependant on other loads
    d) Can be because of erroneous records
    e) Can be because of RFC connections
These are some of the reasons for the load failures.

  • BI Production Support Value Adds

    Hi,
I am working on a just started bi production support. There are not much activities as of now but I intend to bring in more work. I need to propose some value addition to the work process apart from just monitoring of chains. For ex. setting up error alert mechanism through process chains, performance improvement techniques etc. Would appreciate if you could share in detail with me more things that could be considered as value adds to clients. Thanks.

    Hello,
As this is an assignment which has started just now, you can look at following additional value adds:
    1. Looking through all the Update rules or Transformations and finding ABAP codes written inside which are time consuming.
    2. Finding out queries which are not used for last say 4 months. Deleting them with concents of users.
    3. Old Process chain log deletion
    4. Recommendations for PSA deletion for Full loads & optimizing data base size.
    5. Improving Query run time with std techniques.
    6. Some Training materials for End users how to use reporting + user Manuals for Data load Monitoring
Hope this will give some points to start up the Value added activities.

  • Production support

    Hi,
I have one project management question. I have some interfaces (think of 50) and  they are in go-live phase. So I need to present the resource requirement for the production support. Could you please tell me the basis on which I should select the resources in this case ?? What are the things that I should consider to come into conculsion about the headcount ?? Just I am looking for technical aspects (e.g data volume) and not the environmental or physical reasons.
    thanks
    kumar

    hey
    >>resource requirement for the production support
well as the scenarios are in prd they have passed through QA and won't have any explicit flaw in them so in terms of headcount ,1 XI consultant would be enough to monitor the interfaces.
he/she must know troubleshooting and should be able to fix the problem as soon as possible coz u don't want to waste too much time in Prd(client will be loosing revenue every passing sec.:) )
    thanx

  • Production support???? urgent

    hi gurus,
i am first time working in a production support team.
i got a doubt.....like when we get a request to load some data from R/3 r Flat files
Actually do we do this activating of business content and update rules Infosource and infopackage on the Production system r else first we have to do it on Development system and then transport it to QA and then to Production.
And if we want to do performance tuning we will do it on production only right....its a big confusion plz help.
CAN ANYONE KINDLY TELL ME WHAT ARE THE TASKS WE REALLY DO ON PRODUCTION SYSTEM PHYSICALLY AND WHAT ARE THE THINGS WE REALLY DO IT ON DEVELOPMENT AND GET THEM TO PRODUCTION I AMVERY MUCH CONFUSED...PLZ...
    thanks
    harish

    Hi Harish,
Production support is something u support the production system which is already up and running as for the things u r talking about they all come under development.
    ur first doubt:
    <i>got a doubt.....like when we get a request to load some data from R/3 r Flat files</i>
When u get a request u load data from R/3 then u have to identify the datasources for which u want to load data and replicate them to the BW system and do it and yes u can activate from the business content all the things if u r going for the standard infosources and data targets.
As for the the loads from Flat Files u dont have it in BUsinesscontent , for this u have to create ur own infosource and info package and start the laod either from ur system or the application server.
<i>first we have to do it on Development system and then transport it to QA and then to Production.
    </i>
Yes it is a good thing if u do it on the dev system and then transport it to QA and Prod.
<i>And if we want to do performance tuning we will do it on production only right....its a big confusion plz help.
    </i>
Performance tuning can checked and done only on the system u want the performance to be tuned like if u want the good performance on the production system u cannot simulate it on one system and fix the issue on other. Hope u got that.
As for the tasks u do in production system are
    1. Monitor the loads and fix them if any prob arises
    2. check the performance of the queries and suggest the
       remedies
    3. check for data consistency in the source system and the
       production system ( data reconcilation)
    Hope this Helps
    Regards

  • Process Chains - Production Support

    Hi Gurus,
I have doubt regarding process chains in production support system. Is the consultant who is working on production support on process chains monitoring, how many process chains are assigned to him( maximum). Is all the process chains are related to application specific, i mean like all the process chain related to SD, FICO, MM, and so on or from any application.
    Thanks in Advance..........
    Regards
    Ramakrishna Kamurthy

    Hi Ramakrishna,
Process Chains can be triggered as Batch Jobs ... After completing the batch Job the consultant checks for any failure in process chain or whether the batch job run successfully or not.
More over Process chains are categorised and  triggered based on how much time they are consuming to Load the Data.. normally first Master Data Chains will be triggered and then Transactional Data Chains
So there will not be any count that a Consultant assigned with how many chains in production support, as its totally depends on the Batch Jobs triggered ....
    Hope this helps,
    Sudhakar.

  • Diff between production support and support

    dear sap gurus,
can any one explain about the difference between production support and support
    thanks in advance
    dreddy

    Hi,
Though there are no strict line of difference, it can be put in different perspective.
Production Support: Involving the day to day problem solving like Job monitoring,Job fails,Error entry by end users & their impact, issues involving while data transfer between interfaces ...etc
Support : Could be like a developmental one involving new change requests with configuration change/Code Change & requires testing & user acceptance & then moving to production.

  • Oracle application production support career guidance

    hi
iam working in a reputed mnc with CMMi level 5 .Started as fresher (BE I.T) i have around 1.6 years of experiance in unix scripting/oracle sql production support.
with learning of sql and shell scripting
i want to make my career in oracle which should be more dynamic, learning and creative not like in production support which have monotonus life.
could anyone please guide me about what career path i should choose ?
DBA , i have heard is montonous job too with same routine backups,no creativity with nightshifts and all, but it is more stable as people said. I have no experiance of it.
second devolper track in sql/pl sql having its own limitations like less demand, less financial growth etc. and people usually wants to shift in other area like BO
i don`t have any info about others areas like that i would like to explore
    1)Datawarehousing
    2)Oracle apps
    3)Business objects (BO reporting)
    4)Oracle CRM etc
5)Others (thats all i know, please add some others if they are creative )
    Problem area:
1)iam really confused now which way to choose development or support?
2)how to jump in other company on what basis after total experience of 2 years? Since iam in prod support they will hire me for the same again
3)How could i get to others areas like CRM,BO datawarehouse, apps ?As they more demanding and good learning and future path
4)what to do right now at this position to enhance my skill set in this field (What to learn? )
preparing for OCA right now but uncertain for career.
My work seems to be dull with just monitoring of task, some project related occasional issues in oracle ,ticket making and self learning (wat to learn? sql daily! )
Seeking good help from forum experts.
    Please suggest!

i want to make my career in oracle which should be more dynamic, learning and creative not like in production support which have monotonus life.I wish it were monotonous! When it costs $$/second for production to stop, it can get very exciting very fast!

DBA , i have heard is montonous job too with same routine backups,no creativity with nightshifts and all, but it is more stable as people said. I have no experiance of it.I'm sure that is true, but I've certainly never had one like that.
    >
    >
second devolper track in sql/pl sql having its own limitations like less demand, less financial growth etc. and people usually wants to shift in other area like BOThere is about 10X more demand for developers than administrators over the long term. Various sub-specialties are hot at various times. But that isn't as important as knowing what excites you.

5)Others (thats all i know, please add some others if they are creative )
    Problem area:
1)iam really confused now which way to choose development or support? Most people find development much more exciting. But that depends on what you like and what your skill set is and the support environment. I once had a support job that I loved, until it simply became overwhelming in volume. I've seen support people in jobs that I just pitied, they were so bad. DBA is my real love, what's yours? I have a dev/support/admin job, so even though most work isn't what I would choose, I still get to do what I find exciting. It took a lot of experiences to get to this point, though.
2)how to jump in other company on what basis after total experience of 2 years? Since iam in prod support they will hire me for the same againThat is true, headhunters and HR departments want those with 2 years experience in a specific skill set, because they are cheaper. The trick is to find an environment where you can move to what you want. For many people, that is a development environment, especially if you can find a mentor that can help you move in the direction you want. Of course, you need to define that direction. Life throws all sorts of opportunities at you at random times, you need to be prepared to seize them when they come.
3)How could i get to others areas like CRM,BO datawarehouse, apps ?As they more demanding and good learning and future pathDevelopment and implementation are about it. They all have a future path, some are very boring. What's boring to me may be exciting to you.
4)what to do right now at this position to enhance my skill set in this field (What to learn? )Look at the sites that post job ads in your area. You need a critical eye to translate into what they really want, but it becomes obvious what is hot. Of course, you need to know what will be hot in a couple of years, but if you see what is hot now, you can pick up on those in a couple of years when something else is hot, and eventually catch up.

preparing for OCA right now but uncertain for career.
My work seems to be dull with just monitoring of task, some project related occasional issues in oracle ,ticket making and self learning (wat to learn? sql daily! )
Seeking good help from forum experts.
Please suggest!A lot of work is what you make of it, attitude overrides knowledge. You can always learn, but your attitude comes from within and takes effort to improve.
If you can find something that you like that everyone else thinks is bad, so much the better. That is the essence of geekdome.

  • Product support for Portege M800

    Hi all,
Recently my girlfriend gave me her TOSHIBA M800 laptop. Enlighten me pls as to why I cannot find the model M800 in Toshiba's product support tab?
The models I see there are all 805-XXXXXX.
Is 800 supposed to mean 800 series and that in fact the laptop I am having now is one of those 805-XXXXXX?
I tried to see if any of those M805-XXXXXXX match the model number I see on my laptop but none of it matches. Mine is PPM81L.
I am just trying to find out if my laptop comes with bluetooth.
    Appreciate your help on this.

    Thanks all!
I found it on the asian page.
I tried to find the manual but cannot locate it. Any kind-hearted soul can teach me how to on the bluetooth?
I read the specifications of my M800 and it states that my laptop does have bluetooth but I have no idea how to turn it on. I turned on the WIFI but I believe it is not the same, because my mobile cannot detect my lappy via bluetooth.
What I am trying to do now is to use my mobile phone as a modem and connect it to my lappy via bluetooth in order for me to surf the internet.
I am currently using windows 7 ultimate.
Any kind hearted soul knows how to do it and is willing to teach me?
Appreciate any kind of help because I am a computer idiot. Thanks.

  • How can i add  fields to a cube which is in production support

    hi,
how can i add fiels to a cube which is in production support.

    Hi Maruthi
You need to add new fields to cube in Development system and then transport it to production after testing.
Edit cube in RSA1. Add the new infoobjects from right hand directory to left hand pane and assign these new infoobjects to suitable dimensions. Save and activate the infocube. Now go to change update rules for this infocube and do proper mapping of these infoobjects.
Save & activate the update rules.
RSA1-> Transport connection-> select cube, update rules and related objects and create transport request.
After testing is done, give the transport request number to your Basis person and he will do the transports for you.

  • Re: Portege R830 - Can't find my model on the Product Support list

    Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Portege R830 and was trying to find the support page for my model.
However on the Product Support list, where you choose the model, I can't find which one is mine.
My model is displayed as *R830-1056UB* on the box the laptop came in and it simply says *Portege R830* on the underside of the laptop.
There are several entries for R830 on the Product Support list, but *R830-1056UB* is not one of them.
*Any ideas how I can decide which one is mine?* (I'm worried about downloading wrong software/drivers for my laptop)
I'm not in a country with a support phone number and it seems Toshiba support don't have an email contact, so I haven't been able to contact Toshiba directly for help.
Thank you in advance for your time and help!

    Hello
I dont know which Toshiba support page you have checked but if this notebook is designed for Asian market you should find it on Toshiba Asia support page.
