Program hangs at While loop breakpoint while stepping
I have a breakpoint set on a While loop. I run the program and it stops at the breakpoint. I set up some probes and continue to run through the loop. After several iterations the program will not respond to further run commands.
This sounds incredbly bizarre.
Could you post this code for us to look at?
I have seen one strange thing using the debugging tools and this is not it.

Yes its keep on listening state and not getting any data. Also we have set the timeout configuration and still program hangs.
Not throwing any exception. Each time we have to take the jstack trace to check the error before killing the process id. -
how can i specify the condition in 'While' step value...?
say i maintain a counter variable in workflow container and i increment each time in 'container operation' step type.....
how shud i specify the value in comparison basis and comparison values in 'While' step type...?!?!
i got it in 'loop until ' step type with same case....Hi Divya,
If i understood your question correctly, you are interested to know how to define your condition for 'While' / 'Loop Until' Step.
When we create a 'Loop Until' step, when you double click on 'Condition' creation area, you will go to 'Conditon Editor' where you can write your condition.
In the condition editor, you will be able to access all workflow container elements. Your conditon can be in the following format
&var1& &relational operator& &var2&
you can also mention some constant value for var2. In general var1, var2 can be anything from workflow container elements.
So, when your condition is met, loop will end and flow will follow to the next step after 'Loop Until' block. If your condition is not met, you will loop again.
In general, may be you can have 'Total_No_of_Iterations' container element to store the value how many times the loop should run and 'Iterator' to refer to loop count. When your 'Iterator' value equals to 'Total_No_of_Iterations', may be you can come out.
Hope this helps you to go ahead with Loop Until step in your workflow !!
Thanks and Regards
Krishna Mohan Dubbak
PS: your terms 'Comparison Basis' 'Comparison Values' are more relevant to 'Mutliple Condition' type. Please note that using Loop Until you can have only 2 possibilities either loop end or loop continue, you can not have any other option.
Reward points if this helps to solve your problem !! -
How to stop the program for a while?
Hi,
I've created a small prog that the only thing it does is to ask for a given password before granting access to certain data. It works fine on the WTK emulator (from Sun of course), but it crashes on a Nokia 6600 due to a bug in the Nokia's MIDP2.0 implementation. Now I need to trace/find the exact point of the program where it crashes (in the mobile phone - where the app gets closed). MY PROBLEM is that I need to insert into the program some kinda code that stops for a while the program saying "I am at the Nth step and running fine", but I can't stop the program from executing, because I can't find out how, I've tried the
display.setCurrent( someAlert );but it doesn't seem to stop the program like it would in an HTML JavaScript page. And:
Thread.currentThread().sleep( 2000 );doesn't stop for some reason the program either..
Can anyone give me a tip or a workaround of how I can temporarily stop the prog? Please helpTry putting the current thread to sleep right after setting the alert:
yourAlert.setTimeout(3000);
display.setCurrent(yourAlert);
try {
Thread.sleep(3000);
catch(...) -
Bug fix for NI Do-While step type?
I'm using a group of add-on flow control step types from NI that implement common looping structures. However, the Do-While step results in an error -13 when you try to edit/configure an existing step.
Has anyone else seen this, and more importantly, is there a fix for this?Hi Darin,
I'm not sure if I have the exact same version of the Flow Control steptypes as you, but when I tried editing/configuring the Do-While step type several times over and over again I could not cause it to throw any error. Go to the following link and download what we have on our website and replace the steptypes that you have with these (I just downloaded the ones listed on this webpage and tested your scenario with them):
http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=B45EACE3E9AF56A4E034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52236&p_submitted=&p_rank=&p_answer=&p_source=External
Let us know if reinstalling the steptypes fixes the problem or not. If not, perhaps you could post a small example sequence that utilizes the steptypes you have so that we
can check to see if they are the same version and try to reproduce the error with a sequence you generated. Thanks!

IMovie11 hangs, freezes while generating thumbnails
Often after importing MiniDV tapes using iMovie11 the progress bar for generating thumbnails gets to a certain point and then stops. It will remain this way for over a day unless I Force Quit the application.
The event directory and thumbnail directory of the imported tape do not show any recently created files after a while.
A search on the internet revealed one workaround - delete any zero-byte DV files that iMovie creates and reload iMovie.This worked for a couple of tapes but now I am stuck while importing other tapes.
I am not using Stabilization.
As of this writing, I may have narrowed the problem down to the number of DV files that iMovie creates. For some reason, with those other tapes, it creates almost 2000 such files for a simple 90-minute tape. When I delete over a 1000 of the smallest DV files iMovie will complete the generation of thumbnails.
I have not yet tested what happens if I delete over a 1000 of the largest DV files.
If I import the same tape twice, the two imports will produce a different number of DV files, the difference is in the hundreds but both data sets are still too large for iMovie11 to generate thumbnails from.
I have tried using two different camcorders for importing those other tapes without positive results.
I have a new low-end Mac Pro with the OS present as of Oct of last year (when I bought the computer), 8GB of RAM, 600MB of free disk space, and I use a Firewire adapter to convert the 400 mbps connection coming out of the camcorders to the 800 mbps connection integral to my Mac Pro.
I have tried powering down and back up to remove variables involving the OS and Firewire interface.
I have no other movie projects or events present in iMovie when I conduct my imports.
How do I get iMovie11 to stop hanging, freezing while it generates thumbnails?
Thank you.Absolutely has to be a bug. This isn't a setting or configuration problem. It might even be a Snow Leopard problem. I had the same problems with A2.1.4 on SL as I do with version A3.0.1. Export hangs seem to happen on images that came from my A2 library that was imported into A3 but originally adjusted in A2. These images were imported from scanned TIFF files. If the adjustment mechanism was flawed in prior Aperture versions then Apple needs to create and distribute a utility that converts these images into something that A3 can use.
I will have to revert to A2 running on Leopard until Apple can get this fixed. If I cannot export, there is no point in running the software. On this discussion thread, we are just trying to fly by flapping our arms. -
How come the volume of other programs are lowered while one FaceTime? I exchange media with friends and colleagues and I can barely hear anything. There should be a way we can manually control the volume of different programs
I own the movies and I want them to stay in my iTunes library basically forever.
But in both cases the file name no longer shows in the movie list, so I don't know how to re-download it from the Cloud.
iTunes prefs > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
This will show all your iTunes purchases in your library with a cloud icon down arrow. Click the icon to redownload or click on Play to stream without downloading.
Also see this , -> Download past purchases
and techncially, you don't "own" the movie, You simply have a license to use it.
Yet the first thing iTunes does when you hit the delete key is tell you that it will remove the movie forever from all devices and the library.
Actually, no it does not tell you that.
FYI: You should keep copies of all yoru iTnue spurahses as the labels/movie studios/copyright owners can pull their product at anytime and it won't be available to redownload.

Lightroom 4 and 5 my program constantly freezes while using the crop and straighten tool
In both Lightroom 4 and 5 my program constantly freezes while using the crop and straighten tool with horizontal images. Im running Lightroom on a Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac with 32 GB of memory with OS 10.8.4, this problem has gotten worse and worse to the point where the crop tool is unusable. Please help!
Alright,
no replies so far! Anyways, here's some more information which is leading me to the conclusion that the bug causing the effect described above is a combination of Apple's SMB implementation of Mavericks and the way Lightroom is actually using SMB network access:
I did another trial by connecting a USB hard drive to the USB port of my router (Netgear). The connection is quite slow, but moving one of the folders in question (see my 1st post above) to the shared drive connected to the Router made Lightroom on my Windows machine to see the photos again, when I told Lightroom where to find the moved folder!
Everything was working as expected, on the Windows machine again! Moving the folder back again to the Mac Mini fileshare was causing Lightroom on the PC to get blind again for the pictures trying to sync or import. However, accessing and modifying a photo was possible again, like it was before the trial. So it's only the sync and import function having a problem!
I also did some trial in re-building ACLs and access rights on the file server with no luck. So there's got to be a functionality in sync and import of Lightroom which is using a certain SMB feature which is not supported by Apple's SMB implementation!
Any thoughts or hints?
Thanks! -

}I used two classes to test the concurrency, one is responsible for put document to database, and the other is used to query database while the put operation is being performed. The run method of the two classes is below:
put document process code:

} catch (InterruptedException e) {}
} else {

+ " : out of retries. Giving up.");
} else {

+ xe.getMessage());
} finally {
if (txn != null) {
try {
txn.abort();
} catch (Exception e) {
System.err.println("Error aborting txn in concurrent-test: "
+ e.toString());
e.printStackTrace();
}the query process code :
XmlManager xmlManager = BdbXmlUtil.getXmlManager();
XmlResults res = null;
XmlQueryExpression expr = null;
XmlTransaction txn = null;
try {
BdbXmlUtil.getXmlContainer("entry.dbxml");
XmlQueryContext qc = xmlManager.createQueryContext();
expr = xmlManager.prepare("doc('dbxml:/entry.dbxml/1.xml')//user/name", qc);
TransactionConfig tc = new TransactionConfig();
tc.setSnapshot(true);
txn = xmlManager.createTransaction(null, tc);
res = expr.execute(txn, qc);
System.out.println("The query, '" + expr.getQuery() +
"'\n\t returned " + res.size() + " result(s)");
while (res.hasNext()) {

System.out.println(value.asString());
txn.commit();
txn = null;
increaseInvokeCount();
} catch (XmlException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} finally {
if (res != null) {
res.delete();
if (expr != null) {
expr.delete();
if (txn != null) {
try {
txn.abort();
} catch (Exception e) {
System.err.println("Error aborting txn in query test: "
+ e.toString());
e.printStackTrace();
}in the main class, I have generated 100 threads to run the put document process and 30 threads to run the query process. After insert several documents to database, the whole process hangs infinitely. I think it is caused by the query process. When i set the query thread number to 1 or disable the query process, the put document process ended with success.
I think it is caused by the lock. I try to execute the query in Snapshot isolation, but it doesn't works. I also tried the No Wait On Blocks, it seem ok, but alway throws DeadLockException, which can not bear. I doubt about that the lock granularity is per page, and in my program I used the Wholedoc Containers. The Query Process just take action in one document, which is 1.xml, but the lock seem that the whole container is locked. Could it be the page is so large that it covers the whole container? I referenced the document Getting Started with Transaction Processing For Java, but find no hint.
The BDB XML is excellent in performance, and I want use it in my program. I really hope that this problem can be solved. I don't know whether it is a bug or my reason.Any suggestion will be very helpful, thanks advance.

You are so kind. I appreciate very much for your approval. You are alway very warm-hearted to help others. Thanks very much.
I followed your advice and changed the prepare() to add the transaction as a parameter. The complete code I have already posted above. But unfortunately the program hangs also. The complete output of the db_stat -CA when the hang happens is below:

When I plug my headphones into the headphone/optical out jack programs hang
I have an iMac 20 inch LCD. On the back their is a jack with a picture of headphones, but it is also labeled as "optical out". I plug my headphones in and they work. Great. That is not my problem today.
My problem is that whenever I plug the headphones in or unplug them, iTunes (and other apps using audio) hangs and when I try to adjust the volume with the keyboard buttons nothing happens for 15 seconds or more and then the volume changes, not that anything is able to play. If I wait for a minute or so then all my applications start working fine again and I am able to hear my music and adjust the volume.
What in the world is going on?
1.8 Ghz G5 1.25GB RAM Mac OS X (10.3.9)Thank you. That is good information.
Does this mean that there is nothing I can do about the delay? When I think of a delay, I think of maybe 10 seconds. I am having to wait for a minute or more for my audio to switch. While I wait, I have no audio and any audio program hangs. Is there a setting I can change? It seems rather ridiculous that I have to wait so long just to switch from internal speakers to headphones.
It is like this on other Mac machines? Or it is just my iMac? I hate to compare Mac to Windows, but on Windows or Linux computers the switch is instantaneous. -
Hi,
I am running into a strange problem. We have scheduled a Java program to using BQPlus scheduler. The program hangs some time at a particular statement, while most of the time it works. If we run it directly from command line it always works.
The statement where program hangs some time uses the put method of Properties object. I do not see any thing there which should make the program hang (Database connection or file read write).
I am using java version "1.4.2_02" on AIX
Any help on how to further investigate would be great!
AbhinavHere is the code that hangs. It hangs on the following statement:

Program does not break at breakpoint inside stored procedure
I am using VS 2013 and SQL Server 2012 calling a stored procedure from a C# program. I have a breakpoint set inside the stored procedure, however execution does not stop on it. When my program is running, the breakpoint is hollow (not solid red) and the
tool tip reads "the breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document".
I built my app in debug mode and checked "SQL debugging" in the debug tab.
Any idea as to what would cause my breakpoint to not work?
Thanks!
-AHi achalk,
When debugging SQL Server stored procedure in Visual Studio 2013, please make sure that Application Debugging is selected in "SQL Server Object Explorer", otherwise you will not be able to step into T-SQL.
