Program to activate update rule for master data (info objects)..very urgent

Hi all,
I have an info provider(A0CUSTOMN). For this the update rules are not active.In production system i am not able activate.Please let me know if there is any program to activate the update rule for masterdata(info object).

Hi Manjula,
Leave the id and infocube field blank. Just provide the infosource name.
BTW is this a direct update master data object? In that case all this is not relevant.
Check if it appears as an Infoprovider.
I did not ask enough questions to start with.

I create a dummy report in that report lifnr is charactics and name its att. after this i create a application component and assign data source and create infopkg data coming in lifnr and name field properly i assign data source using direct master data update after this i create infocube and assign dim.
but when i rgt click on infocube and display dataflow it shows only one level and when i open bex and open that it shows no application data found why this happened after creating infocube it is nessory that i creat update rule for this am i right plz send your openion.

Yoy have to load data to the cube.For that you need update rules.
Steps to load data to the cube
1.Replicate the datasource.
2.Assign Infosource
3.Create transfer rules
4.Maintain the update rules to the cube.
5.Right click on the datasource and schedule an infopackage for it.
Execute the Infopackage and pull the data to the cube.

Error in creating RSDS using transfer rules for master data datasources

Hi ,
when i am creating the transfermations(RSDS) using transfer rules for master data datasources while i want to migrate datasource.it is giving the error message saying that INITIAL ERROR OCCURED DURING GENERATION OF THE TRANSFERMATION.AND in the taskbar it is giving the message LOG IS BEING LOADED.
MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN WE SEE THE LOG? AND
PLEASE GIVE ME THE STEPS TO MIGRATE MASTER DATASOURCES.

Yoy have to load data to the cube.For that you need update rules.
Steps to load data to the cube
1.Replicate the datasource.
2.Assign Infosource
3.Create transfer rules
4.Maintain the update rules to the cube.
5.Right click on the datasource and schedule an infopackage for it.
Execute the Infopackage and pull the data to the cube.

Reg: No enries in SID table of attribute of a Master data info object

Hello SAP Gurus!!!
I Hope everyone is doing good.
I found some issues , when i loaded master data into master data info object in sap bi.
I have an object which is holding master data (master data info object)---ZEMPID(employee id)
I have attributes for this object are : Emp name , Emp Phone number
I loaded master data attributes into ZEMPID. I could see some entries in SID table of ZEMPID char info object .
But i am unable to see the entries in SID table of Emp name , which is a attribute of master data info object.
According to my knowledge whenver we load data into sap bi , automatically sid values will get generated for that characterstic info object.
so here in this case Emp name is also a char info object , so whenever we load the data into master data info object , we have to see the entries in SID table of Emp name also .But i am unable to see the entries in the SID table of Emp name. .
So what might be the problem ?

You are right whenever we load data in BI, it will create SIDs for info objects.
But it will create SID in 'S Table' not in X/Y - Table.
If master data is enabled for Emp name then it will create SID in X/Y table. I think the master data is not enabled for attribute(Emp Name).
Please check in S Table, the SIDs will be there.
If it is not the case, activate the attributes info objects and EMPID info object and load the master data and run ACR for EMP ID.
If it is not working still, then do master data check in RSRV.

I was asked to create master data info object for this. I created it but when I am loading it , I am getting an error that there are duplicate records.
What should be done? Will such data be still created as master data or an ODS ? Because there are duplicate records.

I tried Bhanu's suggestion of ignoring duplicate records . I did not get any error but that I lost some data. So I tried Eugene's suggestion of shifting the fields .. I moved the second field to the frist place and saved and loaded it. I got this error.
"There are duplicates of the data record 2. with the key '3.' for characteristic 1.."
Any suggestions.

Creation of master data info object- data coming form a 3rd party system

Hi All
i need to create a master data info - object which connects the customer and the corresponding plant..actually thios data is coming from a third party system and they have maintained 2 tables one for customer and one for the plant details and these 2 tables are connected through some common id which populates unquie id for each customer and is maintained in the plant table with the same id...now both these tables have to be merged together and to be cretaed as a single info object..can any one suggest me as to how to proceed with it.

Hi,
Create a Z-InfoObject with the same format as is used in your 3rd party system for the commonid.
Add Customer and Plant as navigational Attributes.
Create an infosource with these three fields.
Unload (in a CSV-file) the commonid with customer and plant from your 3rd party system.
Load these data to BI into your newly created Z-commonid InfoObject.

No master data info objects' attributes in infoset

I am trying to create an infoset out of two ODSs. When I tried to create a report on this infoset, I cannot see the attributes of the master data info objects. What to do at this point?

Ok now I am confused.
1. Replicate data source: these are all z objects. And it is a flat file extraction . In the Q system , when I go to source system tab and right click on the BW Q System , I can see replicate data source. Is that the point that you are talking about?
2. Should I transport the transfer rules ?

Secure an attribute of a Master Data Info Object

Hello,
We would want to secure one of the attributes of the Master Data InfoObject. For eg. In Material master data info object, we have price as an attribute. We would like to impose a field level security on the price field.
Anyone please let me know how we can do it ...

Steps:
1. Make the info object authorization relevant. RSA 1- info object in change mode and in bex tab therw will be a check box and check that to make it authorization relavant.
2. go to RSSM - create an authorization object.
3. In PFCG, set the values for this object.
4. Whereever this object is sued, the system will check for authorizations.

I have been asked to create a master data info object for the object "users" and this is this how the data looks like in the flat file. The object users is a key figure. Can I create a master data object for key figures. Let me know , if I am missing something.

Hi Pooja,
You cannot create master data for a key figure. You can include a key figure as an attribute for another characteristic though. If you need to store values that are in the form of numbers, you can create your char of type NUMC.
Please let us know more about your scenario so that a better solution may be proposed.

How to find master data info objects. Partner function and customer class.

Can you please tell me what are the available extractors for Partner Function (PARVW from VBPA)and Customer Class (KUKLA from KNA1).
I hope these fields are master data. I checked in 0customer. But I didn't find it. There is a info object (Business partner). Is it the same?

I will admit that I am not familiar with ECC and there may be different interpretations of what KUKLA means and different means of extracting Customer information to/from ECC.
However, for us, when extracting Customer Attributes using the 0CUSTOMER_ATTR datasource in R/3, we map KUKLA to 0CUST_CLASS. They are both set up as 2 CHAR. That is not to say that you should also. You can map it to a custom infoobject in BW as long as you set it up as an attribute of 0CUSTOMER. KUKLA is available in the standard datasource 0CUSTOMER_ATTR in R/3. When looking at what is available in the infosource for 0CUSTOMER in BW, 0CUST_CLASS is a logical choice to map.
As far as VBPA-PARVW, VBPA is not a source for master data for 0BPARTNER. VBPA contains the business partners associated with Sales documents. So if you are going to create a data provider (cube/ODS) in BW and VBPA-PARVW is part of the transactional datasource in R/3, the you can map it to 0BPARTNER in your cube/ODS.

Update rule on master data attribute

In my cube, I have a master data object 0COMP_CODE, which has attribute 0COMPANY.
Additionally, in the same cube, there's:
Master data object 0CUST_GROUP, which has attribute ZBUSPART
Master data object 0CO_AREA, which also has attribute ZBUSPART
I need to fill a characteristic ZTAXCODE (not a master data object) in the cube, with the following logic:
If 0COMPANY is between 1 and 30, populate ZTAXCODE with value of ZBUSPART from 0CUST_GROUP
If 0COMPANY is between 31-9999999, populate ZTAXCODE with value of ZBUS_PART from 0CO_AREA
I guess this will have to be done in the update rule. Right now I have 0COMP_CODE in the communication structure. How should the code be written to populate ZTAXCODE, with value of ZBUSPART, based on the value of the attribute of 0COMP_CODE - 0COMPANY?
Any help with getting me started here would be appreciated...

In the start routine.
First, for all data package select company code, cust_group and zbuspart from cust_group and store it in the internal table.
Second for all data package select company code, co_area and zbuspart from co_area and store it in the second internal table.
Third for all data package select company and company code from comp_code and store it in the third internal table.
Now in the update rule routine.
read the third table and get the company for the company code and if the value which comes from this company is between 31 and 9999999 then read from second internal table otherwise read from the first internal table and update the result.

Historic and Current data for Master data bearing objects

Hi All,
We are trying to implement type 2 dimensions for all the master data bearing characteristics, where we require historic and current data available for reporting. the master data can have a number of attributes and all of them can be time dependent. We are not getting any 'datefrom' or 'dateto' from the source system.
For example:
For Example: The table below shows data entering BI at different dates.
Source Data day of entering BI

123506 Y ADJUST day4
123506 N ADJUST dayn
The field 'day of entry into BI' is only for your understanding; we do not get any date fields from the source. SID is the field we are generating for uniqueness. It is a counter. EFF_DATE would be the current date for all the data. EXP_DATE would be 31.12.9999 until the attributes change. SID and MasterID together would be the key.
On day 1 the following data enters BI,
day 1
SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
1 123506 Y REWAR 2/10/2009 12/31/9999
On day 4, 2 data records enter with same PID,
SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE

the EXP_DATE of the record of day 1 needs to be changed to current date.
Also there are two records entering, so latest record would have EXP_DATE as 31.12.9999. And the EXP_DATE of the first record on day 4 should change to the current date.
so the following changes should happen,

Compound the Master ID with eff date and other attribute as superior objects
so you will get P-table as

Master Data Info Object is not updating Attribute data

Dear Sdns,
We are loading master data to ZCOMP_GL Info object through flat file extraction... ZOMP_GL have four attributes.. Leaving three of the attributes Only one of the attribute which is CS_ITEM holds the data.
We loaded data ffrom flat-file.. It laoded sucessfully upto the PSA and data is available... And when we runned DTP the load was successfull.. In the manage screen of the Info object it shows the records are added successfully.. But when we see the data in ZOMP_GL. We are not able to see the Data for CS_ITEM which is attribute.... Also we runned Attribute change run..

Loading Error for an Master Data Info Object!!

I am getting this error for set od records...But actually ...there is no data in that...How it reflects as duplicate records...Pls tell me wht is the solution for this??U can chk the attachment as well as there is no data for the column PE FULL NAME..... which is the error stack in DTP..
But I can see the data in PSA for the particular data packet & record numbers...
Pls help with regard to the issue.

i got a standard infoobject called 'A' and it has got some attributes B,C,D,E for that one standard datasource with the following fields A,B,C,D,E exists and i loaded data. abapers had created a z table with the following P,Q,R,S,X,Y,Z fields. 'P' holds the same records what the 'A' infoobject holds. my requirement is to create a report on the following fields:

WAT I DONE IS I CREATED A GENERIC DATASOURCE FOR THE FOLLOWING FIELDS P,Q,R,S AND I ADDED THE STANDARD INFOOBJECT CALLED 'A' WITH THE FOLLOWING FIELDS: Q,R,S.
AND I CRTEATED AND SHEDULED THE INFOPACKAGE FOR THE STANDARD DATASOURCE(A,B,C,D,E,) TO STANDARD INFOOBJECT(A,B,C,D,E,Q,R,S). NEXT I CREATED THE ANOTHER INFOPACKAGE AND SHEDULED THE INFOPACKAGE AND SHEDULED FROM GENERIC DATASOURCE (P,Q,R,S) TO STANDARD INFOOBJECT(A,B,C,D,E,P,Q,R,S) WITH TRANSFER RULES P->A,Q->Q,R->R,S->S. Hari,
   why don't you enhance the Masterdata info object?. You are suppose to see overwritten records. infoobject A is primary key in the table.
try to enhance the masterdata Datasource. you will get required output or create masterdat generic Data source.
