Programming an MS Excel button to execute a Refresh/Retrieve or Submit Data

Hello, I wanted to find out if I can program an MS Excel macro button to perform a refresh/retrieve and or a SubmitData function in SmartView? I did it before in an earlier version of Essbase but, SmartView is unique. Please advise if anyone can assist. Thanks

With your little piece of advice, I went into Smart View help and found this gem:
Using Spreadsheet Toolkit VBA Applications in Smart View
VBA applications created in Oracle's Hyperion® Essbase® Spreadsheet Toolkit can be converted to Smart View by making the following modifications:
Replace the EssV prefix of Spreadsheet Toolkit functions with Hyp; for example, change EssVRemoveOnly to HypVRemoveOnly.
Replace the EssMenuV prefix of Oracle's Hyperion® Essbase® Spreadsheet Toolkit menu functions with HypMenuV; for example, change EssMenuVZoomIn to HypMenuVZoomIn.
Replace the declarations in essxlvba.txt with the declarations in smartview.bas.
The last sentence is my key to the kingdom. You just fast-tracked me to taking my users to the next generation. Thanks!

What is the excel button in alv grid supposed to do?

Hi All.
In the ALV reports, we see an Excel button too.
But on pressing it, a blank excel sheet opens, and there is no way to go out of it. We have to exit the report.
What is it supposed to do?

Yes you are correct.Well i would change my previous statement :
EXCEL/Word Processing is not to open a BLANK SHEET, but to open an EXCEL/WORD document and paste the ALV output data into the Sheet. You have several option when you click on EXCEL. You can paste the ouput as a PIVOT TABLE in excel sheet or Excel SAP Macros or a normal table.
Open program <b>BCALV_FULLSCREEN_GRID_EDIT</b> in SE38 and execute it. Click EXCEL. And follow the directions. It will copy paste the code from the ALV output into Excel/Word File.
The difference in EXPORT is that in EXPORT, you can download it in different formats ( VIz. excel, text etc ) without any formatting ( COlors etc.). But in the EXCEL button case, the data is copied and has different colours for columns etc.

Problem with Excel button in ALV Grid...URGENT

Hi All,
I have developed a report in ALV Grid. As we all know that by default we get few buttons in ALV Grid, like summation, sorting download, etc.. In that we have one excel button. When i click that excel button the output of the report should give the output in excel sheet. But this is not working.
The report is running fine except the excel button.
Do anyone of u have any idea how to do that?

Go through the code and Execute it on your system, I think this will do for you.
In this code I used 3 radio buttons in my selection screen:
If u selects the first radio button your out put shows into to the Excel sheet.
If u selects the second radio button your out put shows the in the Editor screen.
If u clicks the third radio button your output shows into the Excel as well as in the Editor.

Screen programing need to cal 2 different programs by clicking radio button

I Need to create two radio buttons in the existing program when 1st radio button is clicked program ZSalsDoc needs to be executed and when 2nd button is clicked program ZShipped needs to be executed,

How can i disable a submit button and execute submit_action method on click

On my page I have a submit button that execute the submit_action method of the page backing bean that submit data captured on the page into a database and activate another class that send mail at the same time on a click of the submit button,the mail process takes a while before returning back to the page.I was able to disable the submit button to prevent the user from keep click while the process is running but the issue is on clicking the submit button it only disable the submit button without executing the submit_action method of the page backing bean.How can i disable the submit button and execute submit_method of the backing bean at the same time.

I tried this out on one of my pages to see if it works.
First, I added the following JavaScript to my submit button's onClick event:
this.disabled=true; return true;When I clicked the submit button, it was disabled but the form was not submitted.
I deleted the JavaScript from the onClick event and added the following JavaScript to the form's onSubmit event:
var button = document.getElementById("form1:submitButton"); button.disabled=true; return true;When I click the submit button, it was disabled and the form was submitted but the button's action method was not called.
The next thing I tried was to change the onSubmit event code:
var button = document.getElementById("form1:submitButton"); setTimeout("button.disabled=true", 500); return true;This seemed to work. The difference was that I added a 1/2 second delay before disabling the button.
See if that works for you. If not then I'm fresh out of ideas.

I need to add an excel button for downloading the content from a table of a standard scenario of MSS.

I don't know where you are getting these tutorials, but they sound like they are very, very old. Along with not using AS2, you shouldn't be using scenes. Scenes are a left over method from the very earliest versions of Flash.
The objective in preloading content is that you are loading in new content before the user needs it. If you are doing this loading well, the user will not know that the operation went on. Any sort of loading screen should only be seen if the user calls for content that has not loaded yet. Your design objective should be to show something to the user as quickly as possible when the user hits your site. Load in your additional content and then let the user experience your site.
If you create a button on the stage in the same frame as your preloader object and name that button "enter_btn", then the code that you've shown above should do what you want.
I haven't used AS2 in many years. I don't remember a lot about its syntax, but from what I read of your code, it looks like you are measuring the loading of the file that contains the preloader object. This methodology can lead to a problem. When Flash begins working, a certain amount of the movie has to load before anything is seen on the screen. This means that the loading telltale that you have set up in your code will never show "0%", and probably not even "50%".

ALV GRID Export to Excel button Missing

HI All,
I am facing some problem with ALV GRID. When excuting the report with my user id I am able to see the 'Export to Local file' button in the ALV GRID where as if i am excuting with another user id which is having less authorisations than the button is greyed out. I checked by giving all authorisation than we are able to see the button.
Could anyone please tell me which authorisation object we have to assign to see the buttons.

Hi,
Before clicking on the Export to Excel button, start the debugging session by placing the command /H in the command prompt.
Now, put the break point at statement AUTHORITY-CHECK. Now it will trigger all the authorization objects relevant to this.
check the sy-subrc value gets failed.

Though I have coded the downloadTo Excel to "FALSE" the button still appears.
I think the button comes by default for an assignment and I am not sure how to restrict for assignment block.
Can anyone please provide some pointers on this?

When you first start the new Mac one of the first question will be do you wish to restore from another Mac. If the other Mac is on the network you can use Setup Assistent to migrate everything over from the old Mac to the new Mac.

Press button to execute MYSQL query on database

Hi, I was looking for a solution to this:
I want to create a button in a jsp page.
When a user presses the button, it executes a SQL Query on a database.
There is no need to take any info from the jsp page.
Is there a solution to this problem?
For example, when I press the button, I want it to execute a query like this:
INSERT INTO table3(name)
SELECT name FROM table1,table2
WHERE table1.timestamp>table2.timestamp
GROUP BY name;This query is functional in MySQL, and all I need is to convince that button to execute the query.
table1 contains 100 values
table2 contains only one row, and only one timestamp value and is a value inserted by user through a jsp page
Extra:
After this is executed, it would be nice to display a confirmation in the initial page.
Also, it would be nice to be able too see what values were inserted into table 2
I have been searching a lot for a solution in many forums, but with no results yet.
I can't believe jsp doesn't have a solution for this.

EXCEL BUTTON ALV MISSING DATA

Hi,
We just upgraded to SAP 6.0 and we are having an issue with some of our zreports using ALV.
When using the excel button on the grid, it starts excel but only the first few lines
the report are now being transferred to excel. Example: If I have five line in my alv report only three will appear in Excel. When you switch back to the SAP viewer
the lines are displayed in the ALV grid.
What I am missing? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Please implement OSS Note: 947167. Point 5 in the note is the problem you are facing. I had exactly the same problem and after logging the issue to SAP, they replied me asking me to implement this Note and now it works fine- all data on ALV grid are getting transferred to Excel inplace.
