Progress 9.1 to Oracle 9i
Has anyone looked into coverting Progress to Oracle? Any information on this at any level from Progress 7-9 would be helpful.
Vansi,
In response to your questions
1. No, there will be no locks. this is done using IFMX UNLOAD
2. NO temporary objects created at all.
3. Yes, this is is fine. I recommend that you use the offline data scripts to move you data from the informix database to the Oracle database, You can create the scripts and then run them from the informix and Oracle server machines
Thanks

Oracle Text query: Escaping characters and specifying progression sequences
How can I combine the escaping of a search string and the specification of progression sequences within an oracle text query
so that in all cases the correct results are delivered (see example below)?
The scenario in which to use this is the following:
+ Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0
+ Requirement: Hitlist of results ordered by score whereby the different part within
the result list are specified using progression sequences within oracle text query
Example:
create table service_provider (
id number,
name_c varchar(100),
uri_c varchar(255)
insert into service_provider values (1,'ABB Company Mgmt','http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de');
insert into service_provider values (2,'Dr. Abbas Ming','http://www.dr-abbas-ming.de');
insert into service_provider values (3,'SABBATA United','http://www.sabbata-united.de');
insert into service_provider values (4,'ABB','http://www.abb.de');
insert into service_provider values (5,'AND Company Mgmt','http://www.and-company-mgmt.de');
insert into service_provider values (6,'Dr. Andas Ming','http://www.dr-andas-ming.de');
insert into service_provider values (7,'SANDATA United','http://www.sandata-united.de');
insert into service_provider values (8,'AND','http://www.and.de');
Query 1: works correctly in this case
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>abb</seq>' ||
'<seq>abb%</seq>' ||
'<seq>%abb%</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy(abb,1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
delivers
76 4 ABB http://www.abb.de
76 1 ABB Company Mgmt http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de
51 2 Dr. Abbas Ming http://www.dr-abbas-ming.de
26 3 SABBATA United http://www.sabbata-united.de
Query 2: procudes error
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>and</seq>' ||
'<seq>and%</seq>' ||
'<seq>%and%</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy(and,1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
produces ORA-29902, ORA-20000, DRG-50901 because AND is a reserved word in oracle text
So we need escaping ...
Query 3: does not work correctly
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>{abb}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{abb%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{%abb%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy({abb},1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
delivers
76 4 ABB http://www.abb.de
76 1 ABB Company Mgmt http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de
Query 4: does not produce an error, but also does not work correctly
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>{and}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{and%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{%and%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy({and},1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
delivers
76 8 AND http://www.and.de
76 5 AND Company Mgmt http://www.and-company-mgmt.deAnywhere that you just use the word by itself, enclose it in {}, but anywhere that you add % on either side or both don't enclose it in {}. Please see the demonstration below.

How can Install Oracle sucessfully ,what is the root cause for
this errors,how can solve this.
Thanks in advance
PraveenHi,
This indicates the database is either starting up or shutting down already and so is in an inconsistent state as Lajos pointed out you will need to have a look in your alert log and see what is actually happening. This should be located in the bdump directory assuming this is the background_dump_dest for your DB if you post the tail end of the file into the forum then we can see what is happening and try to sort out what the issue actually is -
Install and config issues with Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer
For a while now I've been struggling with migrating a testing database to a newer version.
And right now I'm pretty much stuck at trying to configure Oracle Portal, Forms Reports and Discoverer
What I've got:
Windows server 2008 R2 64bit
Oracle 11g database
Java 6u27 64bit
JDK 1.6 64bit (using this after 1.7 ended up throwing out bugs while trying to start a weblogic server)
JDK 1.7 64bit
Weblogic 10.3.5 (or so i think - I've installed from the wls1035_generic.jar from the oracle website)
PFRD 11.1.1.2 with 11.1.1.3 installed over it, installed without config
and a hanging up configuration
Basically I've been trying to install PFRD (only forms, reports and enterprise manager from it actually) but it kept failing once it got to the configuration stage, so I installed without config, applied 11.1.1.3 and now trying to run the config manually with the good old \bin\config.bat
Result - the config froze for approx.18 hours then failed
There isn't much useful info I could deduct from the logs, mostly just says one or more configuration parts failed. At one place it mentions trying to set up a domain and starting up an adminserver for it - and apparently that's where it hangs up and finally times out and fails.
I'm a little clueless what to do about it as the logs don't say anything else of use I could understand. Any ideas there?Trying the step by step, the only difference between that and what i do seems to be the file copying (which I can't do - there is no windows\extra\ directory anywhere, the files mentionned seem to already be on their places and either only there, or exactly the same) and clistering
So far the news ain't good - the config process hangs on creating domain ->Step Creating Domain started
It isn't frozen per se - the process doesn't use up any processor time, memory consumption within bounds, it reacts to button clicks and all..it just doesn't do anything concerning the said domain
the last thing the .out file shows:
Creating a new AdminServer Object ...
AdminServer port is 7002
Starting the domain ...
LOADING DLL : E:\OracleDb\Middleware\develtools\install\config\\StartUtil64.dlland in the log:

I'm kinda paranoid about the double backslash in the dll path, but other than that no clue as to why the domain doesn't set up
the other link you mentionned seems to have no relevance yet
does that clear up anything for you though?
..can the lack of SOA suite have anything to do with the problem? -
Error in import : tabular model with Oracle
Hi there,
I seems to be getting very strange error.
I am trying to build tabular model over oracle db. I get test successfull for connection, able to validate the query, and in query designer, if i execute it shows me data too. But when i press finish, it gives me error while importing.
ERROR from import screen

A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of '8ffdbfd9-e21f-442d-9040-b66dc074c87d', Name of 'XXXXXXX'.
An error occurred while processing the partition 'XXX_3fc019fa-4d1a-4d39-9317-3dcde3297579' in table 'XXXXXX'.
The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.
I cant figure this out,Even in Execl powerpivot i am able to pull the data in.
Any idea..TIA
Rahul Kumar, MCTS, India, http://sqlserversolutions.blogspot.com/Hi Rahul,
Based on my research, for the error “OLE DB or ODBC error: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.
A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of '8ffdbfd9-e21f-442d-9040-b66dc074c87d', Name of 'XXXXXXX'.”
It seems that it related to Oracle database, here are some links about how to troubleshoot this issue, please see:

Hi,
Good to hear you are making progress. Try either Oracle 11g XE (or Oracle 10g XE if you older technology with a smaller footprint is better for you):

Oracle Projects integration to Primavera
Hi,
We are integrating Oracle Projects to Primavera for a construction client.
We are able to:
- Send project header and wbs information from Oracle Projects to Primavera
- Send activity and resource assignment from Primavera to Oracle
However, when we enter actual efforts and dates in Primavera, we are NOT able to interface this information back to Oracle Projects.
All setups as per 'E15794-01_PIP Integration pack.pdf' document and Project Management User Guide are done.
Has anyone done a Oracle Projects-Primavera integration, or has any clue? Thanks for your help in advance.

BalajiHi Dean and Dina,
Thanks for your answers. Following is the missing info:
- Yes, we are using the AIA PIP
- We are using 'Workplan enabled' projects for integration with a 'Partially Shared Structure'
- In integration options, we are only integrating 'Workplan' with a 'Working Version'
- We are trying to send only progress information from P6 to Oracle Projects, not the time card info
Iniitially, when trying to send progress from P6 to Oracle Projects, we were getting the error - 'You cannot update a published version of the workplan'
However, after checking the following flags, we stopped getting any errors in AIA/middleware and still not getting any data into Oracle Projects:
Projects --> Setup --> Integration settings:
Integrate - Workplan - Send Task - Current Working Version
Integrate - Workplan - Receive Task
Workplan --> setup:
Allow Physical Percent Complete Collection
Allow Physical Percent Complete Overrides
Thanks for your help. -

Problems by connecting to a progress database with MII
Hello Forum!
I'm using MII V 12.1.4. I am trying to create a connection to a progress database V9.1E.
I have uploaded and deployed the jar-file containing the jdbc driver. After activating the new connection the status of it is on error. In the log viewer of MII are this entries:

- Warning: Unable to fill connection pool for jdbc:jdbcprogress:T:mefass:9920:fcheck

- Error: Unable to get a connection from the pool
- Error: Unable to get a connection from the pool
[EXCEPTION]
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.sql.Connection.createStatement() of an object loaded from local variable 'conn' ...
I am sure that the settings of the connection aren't false because I have checked them many times.
Does anyone has an idea what can cause this error messages? Has anyone allready tried to connect to a progress database?
Thanks for your help!

Can someone please help me downloading that patchset from metalink...............?
-> 10gR2 patchset 2 (10.2.0.3)
{ I have sent a mail to my administrator , it can take time ,coz of Black Friday and the long weekend}
Happy Thanksgiving to ALL ! & A great good long weekend....
~ but I plan to keep going on my journey to installation of PeopleSOft :)Yeah, you could try to redefine the screen size of the desktop of your OEL. But take care do not define a too high screen definition, 800x600 or 1024x768 are enough, firstly because VMWare doesn't support much more, secondly I remember a lot of screen issue within VMWare webserver (tested it on VMWare 2 beta, maybe it has been fixed in the final release).
Go to Application - Preferences - Screen Resolution and change the definition.
And you also could go to the VM full screen from your the VMWare options.

Elapsed time: 34768 msHi ..Try,
1) Check your database and ensure thar DEMODB schema is exist or not.
2) Exit JDeveloper and then delete or rename the folder "C:\Users\sumandal\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system12.1.2.0.40.66.68". Start JDeveloper and run integrated weblogic server . Provide the essential things like password, host etc. I hope this will solve your issue.
You can refer the below link also if you do not get the solution after doing the second step.

Is there a spinner graphic that I can display while generating a CSV?
I'm using Scott Spendolini's Download to CSV using a before header process to generate the CSV on a page branched to from a button on a previous page. The file takes about a minute to generate before the Save Dialog appears. I'd like to display a spinner graphic until the Save dialog appears when
apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
is hit on the before header proc on the called page. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Hi Phil.

If you want the animated image , as your post title seems to suggest, try http://ajaxload.info/

10g install simply stops at 'Cloning database creation in progress,' part of the Oracle Database configuration assistant phase in the Universal Installer. I cannot see any error outputs, but this phase stops at 45% complete. I tried three times now, after cleaning partial installations, but no luck and it's the same spot it fails. Could it be that I have only 1G of RAM? Does anyone have any ideas?
What password are you referring too? And how did you fix the problem?
Thanks
