  • Project Assets Red Green Arrows and media not found

There were no results for Project Asset Red Green Arrows? I imported and edited a fair amount of video from one file folder and edited it and rendered. Then I imported about the same number of video clips from another file folder and they time line won't find the media? A box appears and asks me where it is, but it will not accept it when I find and select. The second batch of media remains off line. I am guessing I need to assemble all clips in one file folder? whats going on here and how do I over come it? thanks

The bottom line is that you cannot move or delete source media that went into a project after you have saved closed the project. Otherwise, you will run into a nasty media reconnect situation characterized by those "Where is the file.....?" when you go to reopen the project. Those messages can be used for reconnecting the missing media. Replace Footage feature can also be used for replacing missing media. More on that another time. Let us focus on the "Where is the file....?" for now.
When you import media from the hard drive into a project, you end up with copies, not the originals, in Project Assets. And, those copies need to trace make to the hard drive location where the originals are and where the program recognizes them..
Reflecting back, do you see any place in your workflow when you could have moved or deleted the source media that went into the project after you saved closed it?
Another possibilities that should not be overlooked (as nealeh mentioned), if you are importing your media from an external hard drive, the drive letter of the drive could have change by itself unexpectedly. Did you see such a drive letter change if that scenario fits what you have?
And, if you have existing projects using the media that you are planning on "organizing", beware of what your "re-organization" may end up doing to your other projects, for example, lots of reconnects because of this action.
Please review and let us know if any of what has been mentioned applies to your situation.
    Thanks.

  • FCPX project turned red overnight. "Modified Files".

I spent three hours editing a talent show video for my school on my iMac. We used two Canon HFM41 cameras shooting in HD. I imported the clips and created a multicam clip and edited the clip with no problems. I stsrted uploading the project to YouTube before going to bed and woke up to a disaster. One of the camera angle clips and the multicam clip in the Event Browser had turned red with "Modified File". I have done this before many times successfully but not since upgrading to Mavericks. Please help me. Thank you.

OK, I do NOT mind rerendering to save a fifth of my hard drive.
Do you you have any idea why one is a fourth the size of the other?

  • IMac G5 project, now red light, overheating

So, I have this iMac G5 which has been quite problematic. It had couple bad capacitors so first I replaced few. Then it had artifacts, replaced even more, then it threw kernel panics, ended up replacing all caps. Now there are no artifacts or kernel panics, but the machin still hangs after operating some time. After that it has problems booting up, fans sometimes revving up and then doing while booting. I just now remembered that there was fourth led which would indicate overheating and yes, this led is lit when it does that weird fan revving. It does it usually only if the machine has first been on for a while, then crashed and after that when I try to power it up again. Apparently something is overheating and the machine cuts power off to prevent damage. I have tried to reset PRAM, SMU and also did those three codes in open firmware so all basic voodoo is done.
I find it strange that it does overheat even when I tried with the back cover off. Could it be a sad case that integrated heat sensor somewhere on the motherboard is damaged? As far as I know there are three sensors available, one for the processor, one external for the hard disk (gonna try unplugging that) and one inside the hard disk itself. Atleast there is three values that Temperature Monitor can detect.
Does anyone know if that red light appears only if the processor overheats or are there other sensors which affect? Any tips in general?

Well update to this. It seems now that the problem really is overheating. I tried to create shim between the GPU and the heatsink, I don't have copper plate (yet) so it is far from being optimal, I used couple layers of thermal conductive mat. After this the machine seemed to become stable atleast for that one time, I used it half an hour and it crashed only after I installed version update of OS X and tried to reboot. On next boot attempt there was again red led and fans max. but after a brief moment it booted. I noticed that even when I am running the machine with the back cover off and not doing anything disk intensive, the hard disk temperature is at 50 C which seems very high.
Then I decided to bring in normal fan (that you use to cool yourself) and adjust it blow directly to hard disk and at the GPU same time. After doing this (and of course the "shim" still in place) it seems that the machine is rock solid, played 3D games, surfed internet, ran Xbench and Rember and rebooted 3-4 times without the red led. Today I tried again with the fan on like before and the machine works just fine. Maybe the thermal material between the GPU and heatsink needs to be replaced or proper kind of shim applied. This thermal pad is still quite thick so if it has dried or something it might be that there has not really been connection with the heatsink at all and/or the real problem is the temperature of the hard disk. Even with the fan the CPU reaches 80C under full load so situation has not changed for the CPU and I think the problem is not CPU related.
EDIT: For comparison my Macbook Pro's hard disk shows temperature to be 38C and the machine has been on for couple hours and of course the disk is inside the case so those iMac HD temperatures seems really high in my opinion.

  • Red Frames and .mxf read failures PP CC 2014 8.1 update. Oct 6.  Anyone else see the new update fail? Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I cut 9 hours worth of broadcast video in PP CC 2014 8.0. (The yellow interface.) I had no issues. It was all great. For some reason, before I exported the finished cuts for broadcast, I updated the Adobe CC 2014 suite to v1.8.0.447 (PP has the blue interface). I feel stupid. I broke my own rule of not updating software until the projects you work on are done. Now I can't open this project without Red Frames in my timeline and in my exports. I have been reading about this Red Frame that seemed to first appear in PP CC 7. (Maybe even as early as 2006) I never had the problem then, I run Premiere Pro everyday.
My Issue seems to be a bit different than most of the issues that have read. I have cleared the cache, & I have ditched the preview files. This did not fix it as stated it would in previous forum posts.  I have moved the footage location from a server to a local thunderbolt SSDrive and renamed the folders and re-linked the video footage. Still Red Frames.
What is odd, is when I boot up the project and after all media has loaded, it looks like it is going to work for a few minutes. I get happy and scrub the timeline checking for the red frames, hoping the problem solved when I cleaned the cache etc.. Everything seems to be fine, audio synch, picture, lower thirds and graphics all appear fine. Then the red frames appear over time, and by 5 minutes after scrubbing, I see mostly red frames. Audio is still there though. Even weirder, is that when I resize the height of the video track, the red frame comes and goes with no real pattern.  The clip preview picture flickers with the red frame. The red frames export through through Premiere and through a Media Encoder cue which say .MXF read error so I'm hooped. ( it does render the video, but has the red frames )
    I run a Mac Pro;
    OSX Yosemite 10.10
    3.5 GHz 6-cor Intel Xeon E5
    16 GB Ram
    AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB
    Canon XF-305
    .MXF files
    1080p 29.97
    5 Cam Multicam Seq.
    Adobe CC 2014
    Version 1.8.0.447
    released on October 6, 2014
I am noticing something interesting with my source footage folders. I am getting some .mxfindex files with really long names, like temp files almost, that don't go away. I still get Red Frames after deleting them, clearing cache, changing drive locations and file and folder names and relinking. When I delete these long files the software wont boot the project very well and crashes a few times before it opens, still with red frames. This problem with this project occurs on every computer (4)  in the studio, which are the same as mine, we all updated at the same time.
    Files look like this:
What happened in that update? Is there a fix for this? Any suggestions? If not, Is it possible for me to roll back my whole CC 2014 version to 8.0?  I am terrified to open any other of our projects... I am under time pressure and am starting to do the re-edit of this in CS6 which seems to run flawlessly, but because of Adobe's RIDICULOUS FAIL in backward compatibility, I can not open this project in anything but PP CC 2014. 120 hrs of lost editing will certainly have me scratching my head about continued use. Any suggestion, links or information would be appreciated.
    Thanks .

You should still have a Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1 (8.0.1) project file available to you by default. Can't you go back to that version and complete your project? That's what I'm recommending those having this problem do.

As long as you ingest the footage via the Media Browser and do not update the project file, you shouldn't have issues like this. I have heard complaints in new projects with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1), so I have reopened a previously closed bug.

Yes, I've seen this with another customer's updated project.

Sometimes, deleting sidecar files can help the situation but not always. It looks like you are having trouble when deleting them.

A bug that was fixed for red frames in 8.1 was somehow broken by the time we shipped this version. We have reopened the bug, but currently, there is no fix.

Yes, see my blog post here: Install a previous version of any Creative Cloud application
Included in the post is a patch for Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1 (8.0.1).

    Thanks .
You can always try exporting a FCPXML for backward compatibility, but for complex sequences (like multicamera), this isn't always an option. There aren't many NLEs providing backward compatibility, sorry. Feel free to request that, if you like, here: http://adobe.ly/feature_request

  • Why does my project look like this?

Hello to all. I am in the process of setting right my media...reorganizing my projects and events, deleting duplicates, deleting render files etc. I was puzzled to come across this appearance of one of the projects. FYI, I am using event manager to ensure that not more than one or two events/projects are presented to FCPX at any point of time. Here is this screenshot:
Usually if there is some problem with events not being available [the project looks red in color and some warning is given] I am accustomed to the warning icon at the starting place of the project. Clicking upon that icon brings up the inspector window and clicking the modify event references button at the bottom usually settles the issue.
When I ran the skimmer over the project, I was able to view the video and even hear the audio of this 'closed looking' project.
Right now I have done this: click upon relink project files. I was able to locate all the files and have pressed the relink button and the process of relinking is going ahead.
I dont know or understand what I am doing, but would like to know how this project has donned such an appearance as this one? Knowing this will help me to be more careful in future. Had I failed to locate the files, it could be that I would have lost the project.

Upon rebooting and opening the application, I got this:
The closed and blue colored appearance of the clipsremained unchanged. Placing the cursor upon the clip opens up that segment and the corresponding part of the project turns up in the viewer. Sound is also audible while skimming over the project.
The project plays in the project library:
While so playing, both audio is heard and the video is seen in the viewer, in a normal fashion. While the video is playing, that 'clip' is open in the project as seen at the cursor location in the shot above. But, when the video is stopped, the 'clip' in the project closes down and only the red skimmer is visible:
The project opens in the timeline and also plays normally as well:
Tom, I do not understand what all these 'abnormal' things mean. May I ask this : what is meant by consolidation of project media and can I click upon this option?

  • Help request: Completed 720 x 480 project and encoded it and all the nice colors are now posterized.

Through the entire project the reds are greens and the blues are grey.  Looks horrible as an AVI.  Ran it both in Windows Media and Quicktime and it looks equally distorted in both.   Looked fine when playing the Adobe Premiere original.  I haven't had this problem before with  Adobe Premiere CS4.  Any idea how to correct it without starting all over from the beginning?
    Thank You,
    John

    Greg,
Not meaning to change the path of our e-discussions, any suggestions on who I can contact at Adobe on this?  I registered the product in March.  After spending close to 3-4 hours on phone support (getting disconnected at least four times over three days with Delhi), I received a notice today that my case #183641134 was closed because "CS 4 edition is no longer supported."
With as much money as I've spent on various versions of Premiere in the past, I need to register a very major dissatisfaction to someone at Adobe with the power to rectify this.
You've been great so please realize my extreme frustration is not with you.
    John Amodeo

  • Red Font Problems

When I export any project using red font it always looks rough.
What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks.

Thanks for posting your solution - the reason for this is that DV has all of its compression on the chroma signal. (Plus RED is really hard anyway)

  • Text squeezing to wrong aspect ratio in PAL D1 Anamorphic project

For some reason when I have been typing text into a PAL D1 Ana'phic project the text looks squashed, when it should look normal.
Rather annoyingly it is my client who has noticed this after I have spent 2-3 days on a whole load of text graphics (18 projects)
Curiuously, I have just started a new project and the text behaves correctly.
Does anyone know why the problem may be occurring? The only other elements in the projects are red boxes created using the Motion Rectangle tool.
My only quick workaround is to go back into all the projects and change the 'x' scale of the text.
    Any advice mucho appreciated.

This may be slightly off subject, but I almost always have to go to the distort aspect ratio (in FCP) and correct it for Motion 3 elements, whether they are files or renders. It is true of various project settings and both video and stills, both HD and DV. Usuallly there is a 33% distoriton and I simply adjust to 0%, render the timeline and all is well. I've seen this referred to a few times - is it a bug?

  • Optical audio out light always on

    Hello,
I've noticed that the optical audio output on my MBP is permanently on - it's projecting a red dot onto the wall.
In system preferences, output is set to my USB speakers.
Does anyone know if this is normal?
    Thanks

    Hi m,
No, it's not normal. It's "stuck." Others have unstuck it by inserting a miniplug and gently "wiggling" it a bit; others have used a toothpick.

  • How do I create this title?

How do I create a title with a blur in the background like this?

for me this looks like one of the -zillion of free Title-designs avail across the net ...
but to re-enact such a look, one option which comes to my mind is:
    • added a title to project, in red
    • alt-drag title-clip to create a copy of it
    • the lower one set to yellow
    • applied a Gaussian blur, played with some settings, see screen-shot above: 80% transparency, lots of blur, lots of 'boost'…
… maybe not the most elegant way, but … close.

  • Film transfer from COLOR

    Hi,
I'm a student film maker just completed shooting my diploma project on RED ONE and planned the entire workflow on FINAL CUT STUDIO. It's just seemless but the final output should be delivered on FILM.
    My questions:
Which FILM RECORDER should be used?
I have contacted a studio which uses baselight as they grading/coloring tool and AatonK as their recorder. Is there any recalibration of the recorder to be done to use it with footage corrected by color?
Which monitor / projector should be used to preview the exact output?
Is there anything else I need to know?
    Thanks in advance ....

I can't say I've evaluated output from an Aaton.
You may find some economy trying to find a facility offering Celco film recorders, which is a CRT-based technology. If you can strike a deal with a company that offers ArriLaser, you won't get a better product -- but these devices are in demand and come with a premium price for services. As far as prepping the media for output to film - every facility will have its own secret sauce, as it will be utterly dependent on about a couple of thousand variables that you have no control over. Film stock varies slightly between batches, chemistry is mixed on a daily basis, bath temperatures can wobble depending on the time of day...you get the idea.
Firms that offer Baselight as a grading solution most often have alliances with film labs, if they aren't in fact the same company -- and with that integration they are able to offer a direct-to-fim path that takes all (or as many as possible) variables into account into the custom LUT monitoring that grade judgements are made with. That said, it is still very possible and at critical budget levels, practical, to grade with Apple COLOR (that was what Silicon Color Final Touch was created to do) and forward the media to a lab that understands that the grade was LINEAR, and that it needs to be migrated to a film colorspace. Those paths exist -- but they are unique to individual facilities.
Conceivably, your Apple graded project (dpx file) could be mounted on a Baselight for a final once-over if you do not have a reliable or calibrated monitoring facility.
Your next step is to find one of these businesses that are sympathetic to your situation.
You'll find most film grade theatres have a Barco installed.
    Bon chance.

  • Replacing Prores with original media???

I have projects with RED and 5D footage.  I transcoded and edited everything in prores 422.  All the original media is on another drive.  How do I import/use the original media instead of the prores files?  I tried and got errors.  Thanks!

I think I transcoded everything outside of final cut on another drive, transferred the prores files to this drive and just imported the prores files so the original media was never seen by final cut.  The prores files I've been working with reside in the event folder (no aliases).

  • Aggregate list data from multiple subsites to parent site

I am working on implementing a project management site. I simply have a site collection with multiple subsites (each subsite is a unique project) that all have the same list named "Project Status" which includes project health and comments.
I want to rollup only the most recently added item from the Project Status list from each subsite into the site collection parent site main page.
    For example:
    Project Portfolio Status
    Project 1 - Green - <comments>
    Project 2 - Yellow - <comments>
    Project 3 - Red - <comments>
Can this be done using OOB tools? I know Bamboo Solutions has a product that does something like this, but it's $1000.

You can use Content Search Web Part in SharePoint 2013. There are many ways you can use CSWP and its query filters, you can view them here.
A query such as below -

will give the result that will look like the image below.

Thank you. I have been working on my query and have some good results but I need to add some more parameters to my query in order to block/filter the following two items that show up in the results:
    Item 1 - .../Add Status Report.aspx
    Item 2 - .../AllItems.aspx
*Note: I also need to block/filter all items in the list EXCEPT for the 1 most recent item
    My current query is:
    path:"<subsite url>" ListID:<list id> -Filename:<view name>.aspx
Where can I find/read about other parameters that I can use to block out the other items? Thanks!
