Unable to install RSAT 8.1 (in the United States)
I've got Windows8.1-KB2693643-x64.msu, I'm running Windows 8.1, I'm a USA user with locale set to United States, yet RSAT says "the update is not applicable to your computer". Is there a reason why not? Heck, I've got it installed on my tablet!
Just not on the new laptop...

The documentation has been updated to reflect that RSAT for Windows 8.1 requires full release versions of Windows 8.1 Professional or Enterprise. This can now be found under
the System Requirements on the download page and on
the RSAT wiki article in the third paragraph.
Note that extracting the MSU file to install RSAT on an unsupported release or edition of Windows is a violation of the Windows EULA.

Why do you have to scroll down every time? You should only see the country window the very first time you launch PSE after installing it.

We just moved from the United States to Costa Rica. The first two days my mac worked great. I have an irritating problem with mail autofilling info in email addresses. Emails sent to me the from looks like this: Holiday in the United States <my email address>. I have no idea what this Holiday in the United States is or how it got to be there...How can I fix/change to my name?
I fixed the To: autofilling incorrectly by deleting my email address from the Previous Recipients List, but is there a way to stop that from coming up on emails that I receive?Have you checked your Mac address book? If your email is saved somewhere in your address book with the name "Holidays in the United States" it might be adding the name automatically in Mac Mail.
Alternatively, try this:
Delete an Email Address from Auto-Complete in Mac OS X Mail
To remove an email address from the auto-complete list in Mac OS X Mail:
Start typing the recipient's address or name in a new message.
Select the desired address from the auto-complete list as if you'd compose an email to them.
Click the small down arrow in the recipient.
Select Remove from Previous Recipients List from the menu.
You can also search for the unwanted address directly in the previous recipients list:
Select Window | Previous Recipients from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
Highlight the address you want to remove.You can highlight multiple addresses by holding down the Command key.
Click Remove from List.

Why do you want to purchase in the US? Your warranty & support will only be valid in the US, and you can purchase officially unlocked iPhones in France that have an EU wide warranty. Doesn't make any sense to me. -

That's somewhat of a legal question which may not be able to be answered here by the uers/volunteers - I'd suggest you check with a local apple store.
In the US, you can purchase it at any authorized reseller as long as you register it with the serial number of the computer within the first 364 days of ownership, but I do not know if a US product will work with one from another country. -
How does the quality of service in India compare to the United States?
I am currently in India and 12 hours from the closest Apple service center in Delhi. After the monsoon rains started my computer started acting up. At first some keys seemed to stick and I was able to solve the problem by attaching a USB keyboard. Lately the computer started crashing and then having trouble starting up again (an internet search suggests this could be a problem with the RAM). If I left the computer for a while it would start up and operate well for a bit but eventually crash again.
I took the computer into a computer repair shop here and he said that I should wait (3 months) until I go back to the United States rather than go through the trouble of traveling to Delhi to get the computer repaired. He also said that the quality of repairs is much better in the US. For example, in India they will put in second hard refurbished hardware whereas in the US they will use new hardware. The repairs in India will also take much longer than it would in the US. He recommended I get a cheap PC from him to use while I am here and get my mac repaired when i get back to the United States, he would then buy the computer back when I left.
I was wondering if anybody could share their experience or knowledge of the quality of service in India. Thank you.And another quote from the fine manual:

When an image is imported, or a version is created, rotated, or adjusted—provided that the Maintain Previews item is selected in the Library Action pop-up menu (with a gear icon)
When you Control-click the library, a project, or an image selection and choose Update Previews from the shortcut menu
Immediately before a slideshow, if the previews are not up to date, and the slideshow preset uses the Best quality setting
When rendering a group of preview images, Aperture uses the current application preference settings for compression quality and picture size, not the settings that were specified when preview rendering began. For example, if you have the quality set to 6, and then halfway through rendering you change the setting to 8, the previews that have not yet been rendered will be compressed at setting 8. Previously rendered previews are unaffected.
So, a high quality slideshow will require high quality previews, and indeed Aperture will render previews before rendering a slideshow, if the preview quality is not sufficient.
