Project manager - problem exporting a project with AE compositions.

I have a problem exporting my project to another disk, this is what happens:
I needed to move the project from the windows partition of my Mac to the Mac partition, in order to be able to continue my edit under MacOS, my sequences include a series of After Effects compositions of footage that has been stabilized in warp stabilizer using the option "replace with AE composition" from the timeline.
Using the project manager I started my backup operation, with these options:
Source: all sequences selected
Resulting Project: Collect files and copy to new location
Include Audio conform files
Destination: a folder in the Mac partition
The resulting project had a message popping up saying that AE rpject file is missing (it was, I had to manually copy and paste it from ithe win partition to the mac) and once copied obviously AE couldn't find the source video clips of its compositions, so I had to manually re-link them all  (quite difficult job to do among almost two years of footage).
What have I done wrong ?
Why AE lose the connection with the fils?
Thanks

Thanks Jim,
I understand that Adobe Anywhere solves this, but there should be this fairly basic functionality (which exists in Avid and FCP) in a non-enterprise edition of the software.  I have submitted a couple different feature requests about this, going back to CS5, so hopefully enough people make similar requests for a fix to be implemented.  Adobe Anywhere is really not a solution for our small shop as currently configured/priced, especially when we can have editors working remotely with very affordable USB 3 drives.  The only hangup is the markers, which just isn't worth a 5 figure fix.  As such it's hard to consider the problem solved for either us or any small shop or post crew.
Best,
Jon

  • How assign a "Project Manager" for a new project?

    Hello,
I need to know about the "Project Manager" in a new project.
Does the "Resource Manager" build the team and assign a "Project Manager"?

It totally depends on your organization process.
Normally PMO creates project, build team, assign resources to tasks, then while save and  publish the projec assign Project manager as owner for the project plan.
If you have Resource manager in your organization then he can build the team for the project publish it then PMO or project manager can assign the resource to the task then save and publish the plan.
IF project manager has idea about resources then he can also build the team and assign resource to the task.
Note :- once PMO or resource manager build the team and publish the project then Project owner need to open the project plan add new field in the plan STATUS MANAGER and select his name for all task for which he will give the approval to the actual of the
    task send by resources.
By default who ever will create project act as STATUS MANAGER for all the task.

  • Using Project Manager to export a trimmed SD IMX-50 sequence, no reduction in file size is achieved.

Attempting to export a trimmed Project Managed version of a network promo containing NTSC/SD IMX-50 footage.  The source file is 9 GB raw, the resulting trimmed 30-second spot should be under a gig, but Project Manager won't reduce/trim the source.

Are you using the "Create New Trimmed Project" option in a version of Premiere Pro that is CC 2014 (8.0) or earlier? If so, the "Create New Trimmed Project" is limited in the formats that it supports/trims. All MPEG formats will be copied in their entirety. i.e.: not trimmed.
Starting with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1), Consolidate and Transcode was added, which may suit your needs. More information can be found at:

  • Project manager problems

    Hello
I've a problem with my project manager and I can't find a clear answer.
Each time that I try to save a trim copy of my project an error pops up. "verify disk space and administrator privileges". (sorry translated from French)
The original post its in the French Adobe forum and they don't know why. They advise me to come to the English forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6097053#6097053
My premiere pro version is premiere pro cs6 (version 6.0.5)
    I'm the administrator.
The file was recorded with a black magic Hyperdeck Studio Pro
All the programs are legit and originals.
Thank you all for your answers

The problem is that video files are big (100Gb/hour). Once I edit and cut with Premiere pro I want to save the trimmed project on a drive to use later on for a Satellite TV station and Internet TV stations.
The problem I encounter is always the same ... A problem .... blah blah blah ... verify that you have enough free space and you have administrator privileges... (form the French)
As you can see for this particular project it is 75Gb long I want to save 28Gb and I have more than 300Gb free...
It's very annoying because project managing is one of the features that adobe is bragging about.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Hi All,
Has anyone integrated SharePoint with project management tools like Trello or DivvyHQ.  We built out a task management system in SharePoint, and would like to integrate it with an out-of-the-box project planning tool so marketers can take advantage

  • Problem exporting my projections

exporting the projection of my photos, Lightroom 5 always stops at 10% of the process. I've tried numerous times and always stops at this 10% progress of the process. What can I be doing wrong?

There is a difference between capture sharpening and output sharpening. The general idea is to get the image just sharp in Develop (but not over sharp) and then apply output sharpening as you export the photo (click image below).
Try exporting a jpeg or tiff from your raw file and use the type of sharpening depending on your purpose e.g. for printing choose the paper type and level of sharpening. If the image is to be used on a website, blog or for sending by email; use screen sharpening.

  • Problems exporting Premiere Pro with SWFs in as .mov files.

    Hi,
I'm not the most competent with Premiere and am having a few problems exporting my final movie.
I am having problems with an animation (Screen size: 1024 x 576) I am producing; I've produced all the animation in Flash then exported the files as SWFS, and want to composite it in Premiere and export it as Quicktime Movie (H.264), as this seems to give the best image quality for the final movie. All the SWFs export from Flash and import into Premiere fine, and in the main the SWFs export fine from Premiere, however a few of the SWFs don't export into the final finished movie, leaving just a blank screen, and others only partially export, either stopping halfway through the shot or exporting with some of the layers from the SWF missing. I've tried re importing the files but I still encounter the same problems.
Can anyone shed any light onto where I may be going wrong and what I can do to get the entire movie to export fully? Or if there is a better way of exporting the files from Flash to a final finished movie?
If you need any other information let me know,
    Many thanks
    Josh

    Hmmm...
I did a quick test in your behalf with a test project with and without "alpha glow" applied to all of the media.
The results were actually kind of strange:
    - export to .mp4 utilized all cores (6-core box w/ Hyperthreads) with a smooth 82% utilization for the whole export; memory usage (also from task manager) went up and once it hit a maximum, it stayed there
    - export to .mp4 with "alpha glow" applied -> CPU usage started out pretty good, then memory usage maxed out and then actually cam down; after a bit, the CPU usage stabilized at around 22%, or about 25% of what it had been at the start of the export
Smells to me like an Adobe bug or design-flaw.
Anyway, good luck with your testing.
I totally agree with Bill's suggest to do a full PPBM7 test on your new rig and report the scores back here - and to the PPBM7 site of course. This will help you to have confidence in your new hardware and setup. Once your hardware and configuration (for Win7, drive caching, Premiere settings, etc.) are working fine, then your particular workflow, etc. can be a separate troubleshooting step.
    Good luck!

  • Images no longer showing in Project Manager panel, but in project RH8

In a project with 2400 topics and 3400 images we decided to move the images to a project_images folder so we could just remove the html folders in Production when we update.  Drag & drop images from previous location to new folder...forever!  All was good...Then we shut the project and opened it back up again and only 6 images now display in the Images/project_images folder.  In Windows Explorer all 3400 are there.  If you go to a topic in RH the images display - with the right paths.  They are picked up appropriately when you compile.
They just don't display in the Project Manager panel...making it very difficult to drag them into topics!
    We have tried:
    1.  Deleting the .fpj file in the project_images folder and adding a new image hoping it would rebuild itself
    2.  Tried renaming the project_images folder to something else - RH HATES that and just hangs.  I gave it overnight to figure it out...it never unhung.
    3.  Tried creating a new folder - again RH hangs and must be manually ended
    4.  Moved a topic with images to another location - topic moves fine.  Images move...but do not show up under Images
    5.  Imported a topic with images - the new images show fine...the old ones still are invisible.
This is two days of work moving the images...we hate to start over and have no idea if it will do it again.  We did this on another project - same problem - but moving a folder resolved it.  That is not working here.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!  RH 8.02.208

Wow, what a hassle.  I never saw this issue until we upgraded to RH9 and tried to use the resource manager to link images.  I've never been as frustrated with RoboHelp as I am now after fifteen years of using it.
We've always had an "images" folder within the root of our projects.  We never saw this "image disappearing" problem until now.  After pulling my hair out for a couple of days, I think I have nailed down why this is happening (aside from the .cpd clearing).
Envision a project structured like so:
    Root Folder
       |---Folder A
       |---Folder B
       |---Images Folder
              |---Folder C
              |---Folder D
If I drag/drop a new image from the resource manager into a topic that resides in Folder C or Folder D, the image is placed in the root of the project.  Okay, not ideal.  Why don't images dragged/dropped out of the resource manager retain the resource manager's folder structure?  Another post for another day...
Regardless, I want to move the image to my images folder.  If I then drag/drop the image from the root of the project folder into the Images Folder, the rhsharedresource.apj is updated, and the link is retained no problem.  All right!  This is what I want to see, as I already have too many snippet files doomed to be in the root of the project because they can't be moved and are already causing lag when opening and working in projects.  Another post for another day...
As long as the new image is only referenced in topics residing in or beneath the Images Folder in the project's structure, the image will never disappear from
the project manager, even when the.cpd is cleared.  This is because the topics referencing the image in the Images Folder are within the Images Folder's folder structure.
If the image added is then added to any folder above the Images Folder in the project's structure -- Folder A or Folder B -- the next time RoboHelp is closed and reopened (if you have clear the .cpd checked in RH Options) the image is gone.  BAH!  GAH!  UGH!
Remove the reference to the image from the topics in Folder A or Folder B and the image reappears in the Images Folder the next time RH is opened.  Wow, magical!
So, if you never move an image from the Root Folder of the project, you will never see the image disappear from the project manager because it is at the highest level possible and every folder within the project will be beneath the image in the folder structure.
Sure, if the image disappears, you can rename the folder, add a topic, etc. the project manager refreshes and all of the images magically reappear.  But, as soon as you close RoboHelp and clear that .cpd, they're gone again.
That's what I've found.  Too bad we personally can't restructure the projects we're working on because of a dim-wit Dev call forced on us to use static URLs instead of map IDs to call the topics.
Anyway, I am thinking a project structured like this is now the way to go:
    Root Folder
         |---Images (aka Resources) Folder
                  |---Topics Folder A
                  |---Topics Folder B

  • Project management planner like microsoft project plan is available

    Hi Experts,
Please send me the demo or the documentation where I could find the good information to prepare a project plan for BI7.0 Implementation project.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
First of all, I would like to know what are the various things you are performing with a Microsoft project plan apart from scheduling the resources to a specific project .
Through Oracle Project Management, you can control the visibility of a resource, assign it to a particular project and control the tracking of the time in various assignments. If that is what you are trying to achieve through Oracle Project Management icnluding the other features it has, you can surely go for it.
Let me know if you have any doubts on it.

  • HT4681 Problem exporting time lapse with FCPX 10.0.6

I have been trying to export my time lapse and it processes for a bit, then this message comes up:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)
Before updating to version 6, I had no problems exporting dozens of time lapses.  As far as I know, I'm not doing anything differently than my previous ones. This is not even the biggest file I've processed.
I have Compressor 4, and that fails as well.
    Thanks for any help

See if it will export with other settings, like Master File, Pro Res. If it does, you can then do your h.264 encode in Compressor.
Whether that works or not, try the usual troubleshooting steps of trashing preferences and repairing permissions.
(I'm also assuming that you followed Tom's advice to make sure both FCP and Compressor were updated to their latest versions.)

  • Project manager cannot see the PROJECTS even it is a part of Project Team

    Dear All.
Describing our official scenario regarding Project Server permission mode.
As in our project server we have business analyst person who initiate a project and he is also the project owner of that project. My query that how he can give this project in the project center of PROJECT MANAGER?
Though i have one category in which i have mark this check "The user is on the Project's Project Team" and i have also build team in the project and assigned project manager in that team. But my project manager unable to see that project.
The only way is that to assign task to project manager then he is able to see the project but this one is not recommend way in our organizaiton.
Please suggest how we can better manage the category and security permissions.
Moreover we cannot use the status manager because status manager is team lead in our organization.
    Thanks
    REGARDS DANISH DANIE

    Hi Danish Danie,
As Dale said, you should definitively switch to Project Server permissions mode. This will give you the flexibility you need and much more ease to maintain and administrate.
Here is an interesting technet article to read: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161361.aspx

  • Project Manager unable to edit project in PWA

I have a project manager(PMa) who can not edit "Some" projects in the PWA. PMb has had no issues editing projects.
PMa is a new employee and the account was created in January.  PMb has been a PM since we first implemented Prj Server 2010.
PMa and PMb have the same permissions set:
Available Groups:  IT Manager, Porfolio Managers, Project Managers, Resource Managers and team members.
    The categories are "My Organization"
None of the templates have "Deny" set for any of the persmissions
We have 2 servers, a production server and a test server.
    Production Version:  14.0.6209.1000
Test Version (Upgraded this morning to SP2):   14.0.7015.1000
PMa is having the same issues on both servers, and using different computers.
I am suspecting account corruption, is there a way to verify?  If it is corrupted, how to fix.
    flustrated

    Hi Darcy,
When you say that PMa cannot edit some projects in PWA:
does that mean that he can edit the project in MS Project Pro?
what is the behavior in PWA? Any error message? The "Edit" button is greyed out?
Have you ask PMa to connect from another machine? Also try to run a delegation session for PMa and check if you can edit the projects from this delegation session.
    Hope this helps.

  • Shared Project Workflow Problem: Hitting a Wall with Markers

    Hi there,
Apologies in advance for the long note.  We're using Adobe CC to edit and finish commercials and are having a significant issue regarding shared project workflow.  First, some context:
We often edit projects remotely.  When this happens, assistants and other editors who remain in LA will have access to the media on our SAN while the editor and assistant traveling out of town will have their own copy of the media.  I know Adobe Anywhere would solve any issue relating to two identical sets of media in use in different cities, but we're a small shop and the hardware and software expense don't make sense for us at this time.  Please do not respond to anything mentioned from here on by stating we should just get Adobe Anywhere.  Thanks.
What will regularly happen is that the remote editor and assistant will need work done on the project here in LA while they're in session with the clients.  Sometimes this work involves marking up clips with comment markers so the editor can more easily locate a specific moment.  Here's where the problem arises.
Unlike FCP and Avid, Premiere handles markers within the clip's metadata.  So, if I have two separate projects linking to separate but identical instances of media, one of those media instances gets updated with new markers, there is currently no way to get those markers to the other project without also shuttling the new marked-up media.  This is not possible when a remote editor needs dailies marked up in a couple hours and is working across the country or abroad.
But let's assume for the sake of argument that it is possible and we apply this workflow.  Let's also assume that in the time it takes the local assistant to mark up the clips for the remote editor, the editor has added a couple markers of his own, which is reasonable and happens all the time.  Now when the editor links to the newly marked up clips he's received via shipment, he'll wipe out all the markers he's made on his own since giving the order to mark up the footage.  That is a significant inconvenience, especially with clients in the room asking stuff like "can we look at the take where the guy says 'good' instead of 'great'?"
So what happens if we just have repeating sets of media, so that every time the clips markers get updated, the editor actually imports those clips, even though the picture and audio data in those clips is completely redundant to what's already in the project.  The issues with this are, as I can see it, 1) increasing the amount complexity within the project so that you'd have to scan many bins of dailies to look for a single marker, 2) increasing by orders of magnitude the amount of storage space needed, 3) even if problems 1 and 2 are handled, if you have to go to finish with multiple versions of a cut, and those versions reference separate instances of the same clip from different bins, Premiere's dupe frame detection will not work and you'll need to spend a lot of extra time locating duplicate clips manually before sending your EDL or XML off to final color grading.
At this point, I think it's necessary to interject something:  we're talking about markers here.  Why is this such a problem?  FCP and Avid have no such issues simply by making markers - even clip markers - part of the project metadata.  From what I understand, Adobe has chosen to do things differently because of dynamic link, so that After Effects and Prelude, for example, could add markers to a clip and those markers would ripple across all instances of that clip in the different applications.  It's a great feature which we take advantage of here from time to time.
    So what's the solution?
My workaround in CS6, which does not solve the issue of needing to merge clip markers so that an editor's markers and an assistant's markers can be applied to a single piece of media, was to turn off "write XMP ID to Files on Import."  This would generate an XMP sidecar file which could be easily passed along with a project file to the remote editor, who could then overwrite his local XMP sidecars with the new ones containing the new marker info.
However, in Premiere CC that is no longer possible.  It appears that if Premiere CC can access the XMP ID on a file, it will not generate a sidecar regardless of what you have set in your media preferences.  We use ProRes Proxy as our dailies format (again, please no comments on this, it is not up for debate at this time) and Premiere can get to the XMP ID within the files and will not, no matter what it seems, generate an XMP sidecar.
We could change the company workflow to use DNxHD 36 instead of ProRes Proxy, which would give us XMP sidecars, but that would not solve the issue of needing to merge marker lists between projects non-destructively.
The best solution I can think of would be to have a script or some kind or built-in feature which would allow for the batch export, import and merging of marker lists.  This way Adobe could keep its current clip-metadata-based marker workflow while giving professional users needing more flexible marker behavior the ability to have assistants non-destructively modify clip markers without necessitating the creation of extra media or project complexity.
I would really love some input on this and ideas from the pro community out there who has experience with shared project workflows - especially projects being shared remotely.  There's not a lot of info out there about this and it would be great to hear what others are doing.
Thanks a million for sticking with this, if you've made it this far.
    Best,
    Jon

  • Problem exporting Quicktime Mov with Premiere / Media Encoder

I have a MOV-file which has been exported from Final Cut. I imported and edited it in Premiere CS 5.5 and then tried to export again to Quicktime Mov. Problem is that the output looks terrible. There is some kind of "Motion bluriness" or fuzziness in the video and looks like there is a maybe "frame rate problem".

  • Project manager will not copy project

After finishing a long 45 minute project i want to save and archive, but near the end of the yellow bar finishing it comes up error please try again we could not copy files... Anyone.. Steve

I've never used Elements, so I can't offer any kind of comparison.
For archiving a Premiere Pro project, you will need to keep the project file itself along with any associated media - video, audio and stills.  If you have Dynamic Links to After Effects you will need that AE project file as well.  If you authored to DVD or BD you will want the associated Encore files also.  Move these things to your preferred location using a file manager.
