Project Server Queue Error
Hi,
I'm receiving the following errors in my event log. How do I correct these?
Event ID 7757 - Queue System Restarting due to an unexpected error.
Event ID 7761 - An unexpeced exception occurred in the Project Server Queue. Queue type (Project Queue/Timesheet Queue): ProjectQ. Exception details: Root element is missing.
Thanks,
DP
Hi,
The issue has been resolved. I noticed many of the jobs were created prior to today. I had several failed attempts at provisioning the PWA site (due to topology/version issues). However, the jobs must have stayed in the database from those
failed attempts. I did not rename the database or site when attempting to re-provision the new PWA site. I have since deleted all of the old jobs and now there are no more errors or jobs waiting to be processed.
Thanks,
DP

Project Server queue monitoring
Is there a way to get notified when there is a Project Server queue job that fails and blocks correlation? In essence I want to know before end users call.
Hello,
You can monitor Project Server 2010 using SCOM:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff678247.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=4419
And Project Server 2013 using SCOM:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj729794(v=office.15).aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35590

Project Server 2010 - Error 20010 with a master project and 3 sub-projects during publication
Hi,
Here is the situation :
One master project with three sub projects.
Sub projects are really similar (Same ressources and nearly same tasks but only the first contain real work for now).
Sub projects got no sub projects nor links between projects.
The owner of the master project got read rights through projects permissions on sub projects.
Sub projects are link in "read only".
We applied Project Server 2010 SP2 last week end and the issue appeared monday.
Here are the symptoms :
When we link only one sub project (Doesn't matter which one), the owner can publish, no problems.
With 2 sub projects, the error may occur.
With 3 sub projects, the error always occurs.
With admin rights, the error doesn't occur.
Here is the error :
ID : 20010 (0x4E2A)
Description : You don't have required permissions to perform the action (Average traduction)
Detail : <detail><errinfo><general><class name="Project"><error id="20010" name="GeneralSecurityAccessDenied" uid="19515c1d-2624-466f-953a-b7fc67337b81"/></class></general></errinfo></detail>
I'm unable to determine which sub project is the culprit, if there is one, as it's working when I link only one of them.
Thanks for your time !Fylim --
If the project manager in question does not need to edit any of the three projects, the PM does not need to have Read/Write access to any of the three projects. Because you said that the PM needs to set links in all three projects, this means that
the PM will be editing all three projects. In order to edit the three projects, the PM must have Read/Write access to all three. Setting cross-project links constitutes editing of the projects, which is why the PM must have Read/Write permission.
Make sense?
Regarding SP2, I am not aware that this would change anything, but I could be wrong. The reality is that regardless of which SP you have applied to Microsoft Project and Project Server 2010, the PM in this situation MUST have Read/Write access to the
projects that he/she needs to edit with cross-project links. Hope this helps.

Project Server 2010 - Error Adding/Modifying Users
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. We are running Project Server 2010 with SharePoint 2010 on Windows Server 2008. Project Server was installed successfully and a new site was created (server.com/pwa). When I attempt to add a new user (via Server
Settings), or modify the existing account that was added on install, I receive an error on the top of the page. For a new user the following appears:
0de01bb7-786e-4003-8fe8-6790fae42248 -1 2 false true 3 0 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 false false 0de01bb7-786e-4003-8fe8-6790fae42248 true false
Once the new user info is entered, and I click "Save", the progress icon spins and nothing happens. No user is added.
When I go to modify the existing user, I see this on the top of the page:
•An error was encountered in loading the page. Refresh the page, or contact your server administrator if this problem persists.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!
AJMuch appreciated kbwrecker. Moving forward, I am developing a plan to deploy SharePoint/Project Server 2013. So this will hopefully, if done right, alleviate these types of issues.
But, as the 2010 system will be in use for awhile, I am still curious as to what is causing my current PWA issues. I also believe it is a permission issue. The errors I added to my first post on this topic were not from the logs. They only
appear on the user/group webpage in PWA. I don't see them elsewhere.
Here are the complete ULS logs (using ULS Viewer) from my PWA add user attempt. This is very long. I apologize if this is more than is needed:

Understanding Project Server 2010 Error ID 12015
Are there any known bugs with Project Server 2010 producing the error ID 12015.
I have a user who has the most up to date version of Project Pro 2010 who cannot open projects from Project Server 2010.
Below is there screenshot showing their Project Pro version:
We have the oldest version of Project Pro in Project Server set to 14.0.6134.5000
Below is a screenshot of the Error ID they are receiving with a completely new version I have never seen before:
I have been researching for days trying to figure out where the 14.0.4751.1000 version number is coming from. We have all our users on the same versions that are displayed in the first screenshot.
Has anyone ran into this issue before?
Thanks,
Brent14.0.4751.1000 is of that users MPP.
and minimum 14.0.6134.5000
version is specified in project server instance. But your user is having 14.0.4751.1000
version
So resolution is either user update mpp with latest Cu or you specified 14.0.4751.1000
version in project server .
As every after Cu update version is getting changed of MPP

Hello,
if you select a job they should become enabled (depending on the job status).

Hi all,
I am using project server 2007 in virtual environment. Before some time, my project server queue service was not starting & it gave Error: 1053. Then server team made some small changes in registry & resolved the problem. After that queue service
was in running condition. But when any job goes into queue, it processed the job first, then after some processing, it goes into "waiting to be processed", and after some time it again starts processing. So, the project server queue is working very
very slow. I restarted queue, event, sql, timer services, but no benefit.
In log it is showing "Queue unable to interact with SQL.".
Please Help....
Thanks.

[Project Server 2010] Maximum Number of Job processor Threads in the queue settings
Hello,
I have a farm with SharePoint 2010 and Project Server 2010 installed. The farm contains:
2 web front end servers
3 application servers
Each servers has 4 processors
The SQL databases are installed on our database servers.
The Microsoft Project Server Queue Service 2010 is started on the 2 web front end servers and on 1 applicative server.
We have two instances of PWA are installed on this farm.
I have calculated that the number of availabe processors we could have on this farm is : 4 processors X 3 application servers (the ones where the project queue is started) = 12. Is that correct? I'm not sure of the definition of the applicaton
server that is used in
this article )
If I set the Maximum Number of Job Processor Threads (in the queue setting) to 2 per queue and per instance. We could have 2 Job processor X 3 application servers X 2 pwa instance = 12 threads to operate at the same time, is it correct?
If yes, do you think this is a too high number of threads?
Thanks for your help
AlineHi Aline,
These settings are for fine tuning the servers, and are only one of many performance parameters. If you notice the response from the server is slow, regarding Queues, then I would think about amending these upwards, but also with a careful eye on processor
utilisation. If you up the thread count and the system isn't any more performant, then I would look elsewhere for perf improvements. Before you do anything of course, baseline the performance of the system.

Project Server 2010 Jobs All 'Waiting To Be Processed'
Hello,
We have installed Project Server 2010 for evaluation and are running into an issue when creating new projects in the Project Center. The installation included SharePoint 2010 and is a single-machine install (i.e. DB and WFE on same machine).
We can access the site without any problem and when accessing the Project Center and electing to create a new project from Basic Project Plan template, the interface processes the request and then informs us that the request was taking a long time to process
and to check the Manage Queue Jobs interface for status.
Reviewing the queued jobs reveals four queued tasks for Project Create, Project Publish Notifications, Project Publish and Start Workflow, all with a Job State of 'Waiting To Be Processed'. When we originally ran into this issue, we realized that the
User Profile Synchronization Service was configured to run with the Network Service account and that the two relevant ForeFront Identity Manager services were not running. We had read that this may cause the queue to not process requests, so we reconfigured
the system to use a domain account and started the User Profile Synchronization Service Application (which in turn started the ForeFront Identify Manager services).
However, this did not help and the jobs (as well as new jobs) are still waiting to be processed. We don't see any errors listed in the queue and can't really find relevant errors in the SharePoint logs or event viewer.
Has anyone else run into this problem who can provide some insight? Thanks.
JohnAnother thing to check John, and you may well find evidence in the ULS logs, is that the queue service is really running. Just looking in Services isn't enough. When the queue service starts it will check for the presence of PWA sites within
each and every (probably just one) Project Service Application you have running. It will then spawn an extra process for each Service Application it finds that has one or more PWA instances. So you should always see at least two Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Queuing.exe
processes running within Task Manager -and if you just see one the looking in the ULS logs should give an indication why it didn't start up (re-starting will give you a fresh entry in the log - which will be easier than searching through lots of logs.
Best regards,
Brian.

Falied "Configure OLAP cubes for Project Web App" in Project Server 2013
Hi
I'm trying to use the PS2013's capability for generate SSAS Cubes; but after I execute
the steps described on “Configure OLAP cubes for Project Web App (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj943761.asp)” the only thing
achieved is that the state being "Processing…" and the log:

[10/11/2013 2:48 PM] Cube build request message has been added to the Project Server queue
When I check the jobs, the one who is associated with the cube creation is on "Succeeded" state but the OLAP database is never created. There is no evidence I think on the Sharepoint log.

Project Server 2013 - Cannot Create Site
When creating and publishing a project, Project Server is set up to create a site URL as part of the process. Since the middle part of this week 12/16/14 this functionality

A queue job has failed. This is a general error logged by the Project Server Queue everytime a job fails - for effective troubleshooting use this error message with other more
specific error messages (if any), the Operations guide (which documents more details about queued jobs) and the trace log (which could provide more detailed context). More information about the failed job follows. GUID of the failed job: aa2d518a-1787-e411-80e9-001dd8b71f51.
Name of the computer that processed this job: bbe43e90-a923-40ac-8ca7-e8953ab95807 (to debug further, you need to look at the trace log from this computer). Failed job type: CreateWssSite. Failed sub-job type: CreateWssSiteMessage. Failed sub-job ID: 1. Stage
where sub-job failed: (this is useful when one sub-job has more than one logical processing stages).
Any assistance you can provide at this point will be key as our services are impacted with this error.Hi Mike. Have you changed / modified the project site template recently? If you set the EPT to use the default project site template does it work? Paul

Any idea?
Thanks in advance,
Alexander.Hi Alexander,I have seen that error when the workflow manager has not been registered correctly with the PowerShell command - that should be in the docs referenced - or
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj663115.aspx. Let me know if that doesn't appear to be the issue here and I can dig deeper. Best regards, Brian
