Protect from guest users

Is there a way to Protect the way I have sorted, labeled, etc. my photos in iPhoto?
I want people to be able to sit at my computer and browse through the photos, in events and albums I have created. But I do not want to allow them to change, delete or mess up my work.
Any way to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.

Create a new account and share your Library with that account.
Enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.

  • How to remove CPI Logo from Guest Users Printed Credentials?

    Hi all,
I recently migrated from NCS 1.1.2.12 to PI 2.1 for one of my customers.
My concern is related to the printed credentials for Guest Users on a WLAN which uses Web Authentication, this credentials are generated by Lobby Ambassador accounts.
When I print the credentials for Guest Users, the Cisco Prime Logo is included at the top of the printed paper, which is something that did not happen in NCS prior to the migration.
Do you guys know if there is a way to remove that Cisco Prime logo so this is not printed along with the credentials?
    Thank you in advance.
    Calvillo

    Hi Nour,
Sorry, it is not a concern... I think I should've used the word "doubt" instead.
I also thought that removing the PI logo was not possible but want to make sure before confirming this to the customer. He just doesn't want the logo to appear on the paper.
    Thanks!

  • Data disappeared from guest user

I put a video and photos on the 'guest user' account on my macbook air, and when I went to log in the next day, all the data was gone. Is there a way to recover that data? It's not in the trash. Also, why did it disappear?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You should know that the data you store on the Guest user is temporary, because when you log out of the Guest user, the data stored there is deleted. It's not a bug, it's a feature present in a lot of UNIX-based systems, because the Guest user is prepared for people who doesn't use the computer

  • Can I upgrade to Mountain Lion from guest user/other computer?

I am currently using Snow Leopard. I can't log into the Mac app store. I have spent ages chatting with apple support trying a million things, including reinstalling Snow Leopard, in order to make the app store work for me, and still haven't found a way.
I'd already bought Mountain Lion on the apple store online before I realised I had this problem. I can log into the App store as a guest, or test user, but not as my main admin account.
What I'm wondering is, if I can log in to the App Store under a different user, then install it,... or on someone else's mac, then put the installer on a USB and install it from the USB. I'm hoping if I can just find a workaround to upgrade to ML then hopefully the App store problem will go away. Or at least I will have upgraded finally.
If anybody can advise me on if I can do this, let me know. PS: I do not want to upgrade to Yosemite so please don't suggest that. Thanks.

Yes. You can download it on a standard account, and after it's downloaded, run the installer from your admin account. Or you could download it on another Mac, and transfer the installer to your Mac.

  • Guest user account logged into while away from house/computer!!!

    Warning: I am not a tech-pro!
Okay, I have a 2011 Mac Book Pro running OS X LION 10.75 (11G63) unsure what those last numbers mean but they were there so I thought perhaps it might be helpful to add them.
Recently I moved into a granny flat and pay $10 a week to use their unlimited internet wifi. I log into my wifi through this device called a WiFi Repeater? It's plugged into the wall in my unit, as I warned I am not incredibly tech savvy so I am only guessing when I say I suppose this extends the main wifi signal from the actual home owners upstairs big modem? Any who.... A few times I have seen in the Finder Memu ot says 'Shared' and under that 'Wendys PC' (Wendy is the homeowner) then if you click on it it tries to connect but won't or there is a 'Connect As' option which brings up a little screen saying - connect as wendy, which requires a password or connect as guest which doesn't look like it requires a password- I'm not certain because I've never tried to connect any further, I only pressed that initial connect button when I had mentioned to Wendy I could see her PC & she asked me to press connect & prove I could not in fact connect (I'm starting to despise the word 'connect' since having to type this post about connection). So... We just kind of let it go. It did really worry me that Wendy (who worked in the tech field for years in particular with an Internet provider, could possibly connect to my computer and nosey through all my files- and to be honest, that would not actually suprise me. She is incredibly 'inquisitive'... And that's putting it mildly. I do have a password on my Mac Book Pro but I don't think that would be that hard to break through/hack if you have the knowledge/software. And yes, I do have confidential files on there! Banking/business/private photos (I'm trying to lose weight so take one nude photo per day to do a time lapse of myself in a year or two- obviously for myself not for others eyes lol and I would literally die in the *** if someone ever saw these). So basically I have good reason to protect my privacy. As does everyone! Anyway my first question is - Could she log in and how could I tell if she had? Now, the second part of this ridiculously long question (my apologies) is I was logged into my personal account all last night & this morning. As I stated- it IS password protected. The user account is not. Before I went out (and I can't actually recall if I closed the lid or not when I rushed out today... Usually I do but maybe I didnt... Whatevs) So, I get home and activate the screen by moving my finger on the touch pad and lo & behold I'm straight away looking at a totally different screen? It took me a few seconds to realise why my desktop looked completely different with none of my files etc... It was - as you've probably guessed- because I was in fact in the guest user account. Now, I didn't even have to click ON 'Guest User' as I normally have to. When you turn my Mac on it always comes up with - 'My Full Name' (one account login) and then 'Guest User' (the second account login option).... So you HAVE to choose which one you want! But my screen was straight away logged into the Guest Users desktop! I did NOT do this guys! So, of course now I'm extremely concerned that either she, her husband or their son whom is visiting for the weekend - have either a) logged in remotely on one of their computers or b) have come into my home and tried logging in & then forgot to log out of the guest account. I want to know if there is any way to find out what they did, what they opened if they did, how to stop it from both happening at all or if my suspicions are in fact happeninh AGAIN   And I guess on a more personal, less tech involved note - how would you all deal with such a situation? Let it go? Or be upfront about the fears/concerns I am experiencing since moving in just over a month ago. AND most importantly - IS there any other reason -other than someone physically logging into my guest user account & failing/forgetting to log back out so that when I got home & activated my screen I was actually looking at the guest user desktop's account instead of the Mail application screen in the 'My Full Name' password protected user account where I had actually left it before rushing out.... Like, is there ANY other possibly explanation for my user account being logged into when I'd left it on my own account t before I left that doesn't include someone in the house hacking/breaking into/snooping through my Mac? Also- you should understand that when I leave my Mac for just a few minutes I have it set up so that the computer screen 'sleeps' (I'm assuming that's the correct term) so that if for instance -exactly like this morning- I have to rush out and don't want to/don't have time to save work/quit applications/shut down etc... I can walk away leaving the laptop as is knowing within a few minutes the screen saver comes up (and if that's ledr for long enough it goes into sleep mode) and no one can actually enter my private account without my password. I feel safe knowing that.
    Sorry.... I FELT safe.
I'm truly sorry for how long-winded this question has become, I simply wanted to give anyone possibly willing to help me sort out this issue, as much information as possible. I think I have actually only posted here once before (I find these sort of forums quite intimidating) and I often see people getting bashed for not providing enough information. So, I'm pretty sure I'll get picked on for too many words if anything!!?! Lol
Thank you, in advance for your help!
    Olivia;-).

    Ouch.
Not easily. You could try data recovery software... maybe SubRosaSoft's File Salvage or the like.

  • How can I protect my data in numbers from unintentional user of my iPad by other family members? In other words, how can I password protect my numbers and other apps from apple computer company?

I have other members of my family use my iPad for educational/recreational use, young children who may want to play kid games. I don't want them to accdently get into my data stored in the three business apps from apple. I would like to password protect these files.
I would also like to log out of the email systems that I use, so some one else can use this device to access their own emails. By leaving my accounts open al the time, is really asking for trouble from a host of sources.
I can't believe that the iPad is not designed to protect the privacy and data from prying eyes ... Un intuitional as it may be.
Please fix this issue so I create my info on this device and enjoy it fully. Or tell me how I can protect my data.
    Thnax.

Thanx for your response. Any data stored anywhere should be able to be protected from stealing, malicious destruction or unintentional destruction. Theo ad an be stolen and without any kind ofpassword protection, the thief could get into your sensitive data.
If Apple wants iPad to become a business tool that can be used with ideas, thots, data protected, then Apple needs to provide this protection to it's customers. Now it's unto the users to use it or not.
I know iPad is being considered to be used by doctors, and can u imagine the confidentiality requirements of HIPPA rules... It will make this device not usable without data protection. I am sureweall have heard about hacking going on at all levels. It's surprising that this device's software is left unprotected.
My iPad may be sitting on my desk and my 3 year old grand daughter would pick it up and start "playing" with it. That means I can't store anything on this machine that may possibly be changed.
I have discussed this with specialists in apple stores, and those who have been around info technology understand my concerns and they may forward this request further up. They do not have the answer for it..... So far.
I think data security should be everyone's concern... Be it a one person device or multiple user device.
I hope that some responsible people at Apple would read this and provide the protection that will make this device lot more acceptable in the business world.

  • I have a macbook and when I power it on and then select myself as a user...It won't power up. It stays in the white screen with the apple logo. I am online currently under 'guest user'. Is there anything I can do from the keyboard to fix this??? Help!!!

I have a macbook and when I power it on and then select myself as a user...It won't power up. It stays in the white screen with the apple logo. I am online currently under 'guest user'. Is there anything I can do from the keyboard to fix this??? Help!!!

Could you specify the model of MacBook and the OS X it's running, please? Some of the advice or references vary along with the system, so this could be helpful to formulate a reply. I've never used a Guest User selection, but do have more than one User.
If the computer does not have an optical drive, you may be able to boot it into a recovery disk mode or something; in an attempt to see what is wrong and maybe fix it.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I want to get rid of my guest user account. It will not let me delete it from the user

I did not have the guest user account available and then after I changed some of my setting for my mail, I noticed that when I logged back in the guest user icon was present.  I do not want to have this guest user account on my log in screen.  I tried to delete it from my system preferences but all it does is disable the guest user but the icon still appears. I need some help!

    http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/13/disable-guest-user-account-mac-os-x-10-7-2-login- screen/
Thanks to Brad Caldwell for the questions and screenshot via Twitter, you can follow us there too.
How to disable that “Guest User” from appearing at the OS X 10.7.2 login screen
    Open System Preferences
    Click on “Security & Privacy”
Click the lock in the lower corner and type in your administrative password to unlock the control panel
Check the box next to “Disable restarting to Safari when screen is locked”
This prevents the Guest User account from being visible at the login screen both during reboot and at the login screen. Again, it’s highly recommended to keep this enabled for security purposes, but if your Mac is locked down with a security cable or you don’t have any use for Find My Mac, you could disable this and not feel too bad about it.

  • Which is the login behind reconnecting from guest to the user who work

    HI, Please
Which is the logic behind reconnecting from guest to the user who will use the application.
For example in oracle developer I connected as a user guest, having minimum privileges to log logging attempts and load some basic information in the logon form.
Then the user reconnected in code as the user he will be in all the applicatoin and went to the main form where the menu was (not using native logon from tool), it was the command logon(xx,xx,xx)
Does the same logic applies in jdeveloper?
How can I reconnect using adf in code, I search reconnect jdeveloper and didn't found nothing for doing in code.
    Thank you

    Hi,
in Oracle Forms I assume you used data base login. You can use dynamic JDBC credentials in ADF as well and an examle exist here http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html
However, if yu really use different physical database accounts then for the web this seems to be wrong because in here its more common to work with lightweight accounts, which are are not the same as database accounts

profile option "Guest User Password" for Applications program use. In this
instance the profile option is not set, or does not represent a valid
    User_name/Password combination.
CORRECTIVE ACTION: The profile needs to be set to a valid User_name/Password
combination, preferably the combination for the seeded user account "GUEST".
The profile can be set using the Oracle Forms Interface and the System

Navigate -> Profile -> System -> Query Site level profile:
    "Guest User Password"
Alternatively, if the profile value shown above is defined and set to what
you think should be the correct value, you may need to reset the GUEST user

    Administrator Responsibility.
Navigate -> Security -> User -> Define -> Query "User Name":
Type a temporary password in the "Password" field -> hit the Tab Key

Interface as this user and change the password, when prompted to do so,
to match the value set in the "Guest User Password" profile.
Finally if the Oracle Forms Interface is not available for some reason you
can use SQL*Plus and the Applications API - FND_PROFILE.SAVE(). You can use
the file that generated this message (FND_TOP/patch/115/sql/afgstusr.sql) as
an example of how to code this function. Set the value to a known good
User_name/Password combination. Remember to go back and properly set up

  • How to dump guest user database from 4402 to 5508

    Hi Everyone,
Currently all our guest user accounts are created on a 4402WLC that is running on code 4.2.61.0. This WLC will be replaced by a 5508WLC that is running on 7.0.116.0. • Migrate Guest Users from Prime Infrastructure 2.1 to ISE

I have just installed a new Prime Infrastructure Server and have discovered our list of guest user accounts from the discovered Controllers. We are implementing ISE 1.3 and would like to move all the guest user accounts from Prime to ISE without doing it manually. Is there a way to either export or pull the guest users from Prime or the WLC and import them to ISE?
I would be very interested to find out if this can be done.
