We used MSAD with shared services , MSAD user can login into workspace but not open planning application, we executed provisionusers.cmd utility to apply MSAD users sid into planning application, but we got an error as below in essbase server log,

Is Essbase configured to use the same CSS configuration file? You could also set the CSS configuration to debug mode (but I don't remember if you can do this in the Shared Services configuration screens). I have set it up in the CSS xml file that is in the Essbase\bin directory; the essbase.cfg file should tell you if the local xml file or the Shared Services location is where Essbase is getting the CSS configuration.
BTW, on my laptop, I have configured Essbase to use the local CSS file. It has a line in it near the bottom for the logging value:

</logger>I remember seeing much more detailed error messages when I had DEBUG logging turned on.

I need an urgent help please, posted the same at few wrong places. I am unable to run the ProvisionUsers utility using the admin account. i verified the 50001 thingy and I am using the right id. I keep getting the following error.
Error occurred while synchronizing: Errors occured during syncrhonization: [EPMCSS-07004: Failed to authorize the user
action. Principal is null. Provide valid user principal to access.[GET_USER_BY_IDENTITY]]
We had a recent upgrade to 11.1.2
A new test user id i created worked fine with the utility. However existing users are not getting synchronised.
Existing users are able to login, open forms, save them etc. The reason I am doing this is because they are not able to run the Business rules associated with the forms. Users have the right group access, which in turn has launch access to BRs.
We are using CALC manager.

NIt may be a different issue, but I has a situation a year ago that provisioning didn't go through. We had essbase and planning applications. I believe we had to remove all provisioning. Then, provision to the planning application. THEN provision to the essbase application. If we didn't do it in that order, the user wouldn't have access to the planning app. That might be worth a try.
You may also want to provision the users directly from planning (not from epma deploy). After you deploy, go to the Administration menu in planning, then Application, then Refresh Database. Choose security from there.
Lastly, make sure the business rules are deployed. We did a migration and on application deploy, selected the business rules. None of the business rules got deployed even after success message. We had to go into calc manager and deploy from there. The web forms still had the business rules attached, yet they were not there to actually run.

Is the functionality of Provisionusers.cmd and migrateusers/groups from planning web similar?
I feel Provsionsuers.cmd is an alternative way to migrateusers/groups from planning web.

The provisionusers utility basically syncs planning and essbase with the provisioning of users/groups in shared services.
If you run the utility and a user exists in shared services but has not been created in the planning database the user will be added.
If the user does not exist in the essbase security file then they are added.
If it is a user that exists and has security settings on members in planning then these filters are pushed down to essbase.
It should also remove users/groups from planning if they have been deprovisioned in shared services.

How to force newly provisioned security groups into Planning
I just provisioned 3 new security groups in Shared Services (9.2.0.2). 15 minutes later our Planning Admin says that she still cannot see these new groups within her Planning app (9.2.0.2.0). Is there any way for me to force these new groups into Planning so that she can apply her security to them within the Planning app?

Other tests are log in as a user that belongs to the group to see if that updates the tables.
Or run the provisionusers utility for a user that belongs to the group.
Or the the updateusers utility which syncs ups users/groups with shared services.
I cant remember which utility is the best to use in this instance.

We just finished rolling out 9.3.1 in production and we are having some issues with planning being very slow when logging in. When a user logs in the top bar appears but on the bottom it is a white screen. It takes about 2-3 minutes to fully load, after that everything works ok until the user tries to log back in. In the application settings I saw that sync_user_logon was set to true. Would this speed up logging onto planning? If not are there any other methods I can use to speed up planning?

When SYNC_USER_ON_LOGON is set to true and the user logs into planning it syncs up the user from Shared Services with the Planning Application database, it also syncs up the essbase side. So if it is a new user and the first time they log in it will create the user in the Planning application database and create the user in essbase.
So if you have it set to false and set up a new user and they try and log into planning, because they don't exist in the planning database they won't be able to log in, they would only be able to log in if the provisionusers utility had been run to update the planning database.

Failed to sync User Provisioning - Hyperion Planning
I have created a user group using shared services console. Thereafter created users and assingned to respective groups.
After that I have redeployed the application through EPMA. I am able to assign the dimension member level security to groups.
Even after redeploying the application I am unable to log-in to application through the newly created users. Any help to resolve the same is highly appreciated.Sravan Ganti wrote:

Are the users native users or Active Directory ?
You say you provisioned them to a group, have you tried provisioning just a user for the application and not a group.
You can also try using the provisionusers utility and see if it syncs up with shared services.
Are you logging in through workspace or directly into planning, try logging directly to planning e.g http://planningmachine:8300/HyperionPlanning/
You can also try running planning from the start menu, stop the planning service first, this should write more information to the command window.

I am trying to load the SecFile into my application to add security filters
I have already loaded SS with my groups and users and provisioned them to the application
The file of course fails with no explanation which is always fun.
So I try to load one line and it fails using the syntax User,dimmember,READWRITE,MEMBER.
So I go in and add the security filter manually. and do an export. It looks identical to the one I just tried to import. As a final check I try to import the same file I had tried earlier (and had failed) but this time it passes with flying colors. I try the same steps with the next line in my SecFile. Again it fails on the first try. I add it manually and it works perfectly the second try.
What step am I magically missing?

Edited by: user11903659 on Jun 25, 2010 12:05 PMThe Importsecurity utility fails to load security to group/user with error that the group/user is not found, even though the group has been provisioned to the Planning application unless user/group is given access to atleast one member.
Provisioned users/groups should first be added to Planning repository - it could be done 1) by assigning ACLs; 2) by running ProvisionUsers utility; 3) by running Refresh Security filters 4) by having the new user login to Planning application. After Planning sync with HSS, ImportSecurity utility will run successfully.

Error on Synchronizing Users With the Provision Users Utility
Im using ProvisionUsers.sh to realize the provision users from linux console....
The process is retreiving an error.... the error says Error retreiving user by identity Embedded HBR initialized , I dont know what does this error means....
Anybody??That is not an error it is just a warning message, it occurs most of the time.
You probably need to check the other logs that are generated after running the utility.

EDs.dll error when use Updateusers or provisionusers commands
I am installing V9.2.1 and receive this error when I try to use updateusers or provisionusers. I have installed and configured shared services, aas, eas, planning and using weblogic 8.1.4. Any ideas? It says it cannot find library eds.dll. Is this because Planning did not install properly?

How do I access the web utility with model cisco sf302-08p ?
Hi,i have a problem with the model Cisco SB SF302-08PP Switch , i connect a cable rj45 to my pc and configure the adapter local area connection (ip address:192.168.1.252), the LEDs blink green, and go to the address bar and get the IP by default, which according to the manual is 192.168.1.254 and the result is: page not found. Is there any way to change the web utility? How do I access the web utility?
restore the switch by holding more than 30 seconds and try accessing with ip 192.168.1.254. username and password is "cisco". before change your base ip to 192.168.1.2-253.try to ping and check the connectivity

"Oracle Identity Analytics utilizes an encrypted password when communicating with the database.
To change the default database password, use the RBACx Encrypted Password Change Utility"
Could you please help me finding out this tool.

Manipradeep Sunku.The mentioned tool only encrypts the password so that you don't have to store a plain text password in the config file. It does not decrypt it. The default rbacxservice password is rbacxservice.
The tool does not come with the OIA/SRM distribution so if you need it, you will need to contact support. -
Studio 12.1 Performace Analyzer 7.7 problem, with 'er_print' utility.
I am having a minor but nagging problem with a regression in the er_print utility of the Sun Performance Analyzer suite bundled in Studio 12. is there maybe a patch available or in the works?
I have not had any success in finding a resolution by searching the open literature
The issue is that the callers-callees listing only dumps functions in alphabetical order, ignoring the sort order specified by sort. This is a regression from the Performance Analyzer (7.4) behavior from Sun Studio 10. We only recently jumped to studio 12.1.
This functionality is documented here: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/821-0304/afaid?a=view (as well as many other references). To quote:

Print the callers-callees panel for each of the functions, in the order specified by the function sort metric (sort)."

USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard utility crash
USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard (Wired) : skd881x daemon has stopped working
What I'm getting here is a consistent crash of the OSD / button management daemon (Skdaemon.exe) on a standard french Vista 32bit install. This might be a duplicate of this unresolved problem, although the OS is 32 bit here.
I can reproduce the crash easily by using either one of the Volume+, Volume- or Mute buttons at any time as long as the Play/Pause button has never been pressed before. If I start the daemon, choose "Play/Pause" (the indication "Play/Pause" appears in the OSD), then the instance of the daemon will never crash afterwards and I will be able to use the volume buttons until the next reboot.
I have tried :
using the keyboard configuration tool to change most of the settings,
clean uninstalling/reinstalling the (latest) driver and utility,
looking up for a solution elsewhere,

Error while deploying a web service whose return type is java.util.Date

I have written a simple web service which takes in a date input (java.util.Date) and returns the same date back to the client.
public interface Ping extends Remote
* A simple method that pings the server to test the webservice.
* It sends a datetime to the server which returns the datetime.
* @param pingDateRequest A datetime sent to the server
* @returns The original datetime
public Date ping(Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException;
The generation of the Web service related files goes smoothly in JDeveloper 10g. The problem arises when I try to deploy this web service on the Oracle 10g (10.0.3) OC4J standalone. it gives me the following error on the OC4J console :

I read somewhere that the conversion between java to xml datatype and vice versa fails for java.util.Date, so it is better to use java.util.Calendar. When I change the code to return a java.util.Calendar then the JDeveloper prompts me the following failure:
Method Ping: the following parameter types do not have an XML Schema mapping and/or serializer specified : java.util.Calendar.
This forces me to return a String data.
I would appreciate if someone can help me out.

I got the web service working with some work around. But I am not sure it this approach would be right and good.
I started altogether afresh. I did the following step :
1. Created an Interface (Ping.java) for use in web Service as follows :

2. Implemented the above interface in PingImpl.java as follows :
public class PingImpl implements Ping
public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
return pingDateRequest;
3. Compiled the above 2 java files.
4. Generated a Stateless Java Web Service with the help of JDeveloper. This time the generation was sucessful.(If I had "java.util.Calendar" in place of "java.util.Date" in the java code of the above mentioned files the web service generation would prompt me for error)
5. After the generation of Web Service, I made modification to the Ping interface and its implementing class. In both the files I replaced "java.util.Date" with "java.util.Calendar". The modified java will look as follows :
Ping.Java

public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest)
throws RemoteException;

6. Now I recompile both the java files.
7. Withour regenerating the Web Service I deploy the Web Service on OC4j 10.0.3 from JDeveloper. This time the deployment was sucessful.(The Deployment fails if I don't follow the step 5.)
8. Now I generated a Stub from JDeveloper and accessed the stub from a client. It works fine. Here if you see the Stub code it takes java.util.Date as a parameter and returns a java.util.Date. (Mind you I am accepting a java.util.Calendar and returning the same in my Web Service interface. Step 5)
The confusing thing is the Serialization and Deserialization of Data from Client java data to Soap message and Soap message to Server java data.
From Client to SOAP :
java.util.Date to datetime
From SOAP to Server :
datetime to java.util.Calendar
From Server to SOAP :
java.util.Calendar to datetime
From SOAP to Client :
datetime to java.util.Date (I am not able to understand this part of the conversion)
Any help or inputs would be appreciated.
