PS CS2 "save as" jpeg problem

I am in the process of making a compilation disk of scanned snapshots for a friend's photoframe device.  I am importing to CS2 via Twain scans of four 4x6 snapshots at a time.  I rotate, crop, color correct, adjust brightness/contrast, touch up the images and then save as low resolution jpegs (3) to my local hard drive.  I backtrack to the original scan to work on the remaining snapshots until finished since each import is of 4 shots.  When I attempt to save each cropped snapshot using "save as" and click on the default file name that appears in order to sequentialy rename the file, the system randomnly hangs for up to 10 minutes at a time.  Fifty percent of the time it works without a problem.
I am aware of the known incompatibility with CS2 that prevents saving of files as jpeg from another Adobe forum. The interim fix is to within Photoshop to go into the xmp info dialog (File-Info -> Advanced) and delete the ns.adobe.com/camera-raw-settings/1.0 part).  Unfortunately this did not work for me.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Alan

I solved the problem.  It was an issue in Windows working in a subdirectory with over 500 files and not PS.  The problem saving files vanished when I went to another location with far fewer files.  F.Y.I.  Thanks for the suggestions.

  • Elements 6 - Save as Jpeg Problems

    I have used Elements for a while and recently switched from Windows to a Mac. Using Photoshop Elements 6
    When I process a photo and "Save As" XXX and select Jpeg the image saves as an "Adobe Photoshop Elements file" I did not have this problem previously (using windows)
    I have read and reread the help and faq sections and cannot figure out what my mistake is. Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help

    What do you mean? You do understand that OS X doesn't display extensions in the finder unless told to do so? If you look at the image in a finder window in list, rather than icon view, doesn't the file name end in .jpg? "Adobe Photoshop Elements file" just means it was created by PSE and is associated with that program. There's no file type with that name.

    Hello
    I am kinda of new to adobe pro x and I have taken a jpeg and turned it into a pdf form with form fields. When i fill in the form fields on pro x and save as jpeg it erases all of the information that I entered into form fields. When i save as png It keeps information please can someone tell me if i am doing something wrong thank-you

    Today I cannot reproduce the problem; I'm really confused, this has happened for ages, I don't think it ever worked properly till today-maybe there has been a sneaky update  (menu-Help-Check for Updates)
    this is using the same original document on the same pc.  Oh except I just trimmed the original down from 32pp to 1 page (I was trying to create an example to upload).  Nope thats not it.  Maybe I was using a lot or resources at the time.  I'm flummoxed.  try rebooting?

  • One-click 'Save as jpeg' shortcut script please! - saved in the same folder

    Hi, I've been re-directed here because I was told a script could solve my problems - but I have no scripting experience/knowledge/ability! Below is my original problem and post. I got as close as 2 button presses, but I'm after that sweet, sweet single-button, double-my-productivity shortcut! Thanks!
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1106992
    I use 'Save as .jpeg' ALL the time (Photoshop CS6, Mac ML), and it really feels like I should just be able to press one button (a shortcut) and the name/quality dialogs don't appear and it just saves a .jpeg into the folder that my original .PSD/file is in.
    So basically:
    - Press one button to save my open .PSD/file as a .jpeg
    - Automatically save it in the same folder as my .PSD
    - Save it as '10' quality in the jpeg settings
    - No dialog boxes, as soon as I press the button, it saves it - if there's already a .jpeg of the same name, it creates a '-1','-2' etc.
    I've tried using 'Actions', but it seems to save it wherever my original Action folder was - it doesn't change to whatever the current folder the .PSD is in...
    Thanks!

    File -> Scripts -> Script Events Manager
    Click Enable Events at the top
    Select Save Document from Photoshop Event  drop down
    Select Save Extra JPEG from Script drop down
    Click Add
    Click Done
    EVERY document you save, except JPEG files, will save a jpg file. Saving will be slower.
    You will need to modify line 62 of the Save Extra JPEG.jsx file located here: <YOUR_PHOTOSHOP_INSTALL_LOCATION>\Presets\Scripts\Event Scripts Only
    In order to boost your quality to '10'. Here is the line in question
    jpegOptions.quality = 2; // really low
    Change it to
    jpegOptions.quality = 10; // really high
    You will need to modify the script to get this problem solved as well: it saves it - if there's already a .jpeg of the same name, it creates a '-1','-2' etc.
    You can steal code out of Image Processor that finds a file name that is unique for the folder so you don't get overwrites.
    Are you sure you want that? If you do lots of saves you are going to fill up your disk fast.

  • Save as list problem

    I have a save as/export problem. Im using cs6 for windows and it shows me 6 options for saving as psd, psb, exr, raw, bitmap, radiance and tiff but there is no jpeg or pdf or any other options listed. How can I bring these options to this list? is it a problem like fixing acrobat X with a patch?

    Hi,
    Check under Image>Mode as it sounds like maybe your image is 32 bits/channel.
    If you switch to 16 or 8 bits/channel then jpeg should become available.

  • XY Graph Won't save to JPEG when Black and White...and run from TestStand.

    I am creating an XY graph and manipulating the colors of the plots, background, etc.  I am saving this graph to JPEG using the Write JPEG File vi and after it is saved I import it inot a test report.  This works fine in color, but when I create a B&W plot, it won't save to JPEG.  Let me clarify:  It won't save to JPEG when I run the VI from TestStand.  It does save to JPEG when I run the VI as a stand alone application in LabVIEW.
    Problem:
    Run VI from LabVIEW ~ Saves the JPEG in both Color and B&W.
    Run VI from TestStand ~ Saves the JPEG in Color, but does not save the JPEG in B&W.
    Here is how I am making all the plots and background B&W in my code:
    Change all Active Plots to Black using property node.
    Change all Active Cursors to Black using property node.
    Change the Plot BG colors (major/minor grids, etc) to lighter colors using property node.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    A few questions: What version of LV are you using? How are you getting the control image that you are sending to the JPG? Third what exactly happens when you try to save the B/W image under TestStand? Error?

  • Save as Jpeg

    I have created a picture with about three or four layers, a PSD file now. It is a panoramic shot I added a layer to make stars. When I try to save the file from a PSD file to a Jpeg one of the layers disappears. I have tried to save it as a tiff and then to Jpeg but still it will not save without losing the layer. It is 8 bit RGB so it's not that. I also tried to flatten the layers but still it will not save right. Anything else I can try?
    I have the background layer, a stars layer with a layer mask and a levels layer grouped and the a hue/saturation layer. This happened to me a long time ago but I can't remember if I ever fiqured out the problem.

    What you say you want is normal operation:  What you see while working in Photoshop is what you should get when you save as JPEG.  Layers should NOT be going away.
    If you're willing to share the PSD publicly, others can try to reproduce the problem...  One way to share very large images is to sign up for a free YouSendIt.com account, send the PSD to yourself, then post the URL here.  I know I'll be happy to take a look at it.
    In the interim, what happens when you do this:
    1.  Layer - Flatten.
    2.  File - Save As - JPEG.
    3.  In the HISTORY panel, go back to the step just prior to Layer - Flatten.
    This could possibly serve as a workaround.

  • Save as Jpeg - icon

    Using a Mac with 10.4.11, CS3 and Acrobat 8.1.2
    I usually make PDFs from Quark or Illustrator, using Distiller then Acrobat.
    If I take a PDFs which originally looks like this:-
    If I do a "Save as Jpeg", the Preview icon on the desktop always looks like this (you can just see the image very feintly)
    The actual Jpeg image is ok, but it's just the Preview icon which always comes out like this
    Any suggestions?

  • Photoshop CC 2014 saves corrupted jpeg files!

    I just cant understand this???
    Photoshop CC 2014 saves corrupted jpeg files and some other file formats. PSD and PNG works.
    I have try with the latest iMac and the latest Mac Book Pro, both with Mavericks and Yosemite. Im saving to their internal hard drives. I can not open the corrupted photos on any application.

    Nobody else has had problems with the files saved by Photoshop.
    Are you sure you aren't just saving the wrong file extension on a different file type (i.e.: a PSD file with .jpeg on the end still isn't a JPEG file)?

  • Canon 5D Mark III Jpeg problem

    Received my new 5D Mark iii today. Pretty happy so far however I have noticed a strange issue with Apple Aperture when viewing jpegs from the 5d mark iii. I noticed a white line at the top of the frame or the left of the frame on vertical shots. It is more noticeable in full screen mode in Aperture.
    I opened the jpegs in PS, Preview, DPP and the Finder and none of them show this white edge line.
    The other odd thing is if I export a jpeg of one of these out of Aperture and then load the exported file the white edge line switches sides of the image. Also I noticed if I save a jpeg version out of PS and then import that into Aperture I do not see the white edge line.
    I tried shots using multiple lenses as well with the same result.
    Seems like Aperture has some issue with 5d mark iii jpegs. Don't think it is the camera since PS, DPP and Preview don't show the same issue.
    Wondering if others have noticed this same problem?

    Here is another example. This one I exported to Smugmug from Aperture and no white edge in the Smugmug posting. Definitely seems to be some wierd Aperture problem.

  • CS5 Save as Jpeg gives colour shift - OK as PSD/Tiff

    Hi Guys,
    This is a follow on from the "lightroom /CS5 colour shift post" which I have now narrowed down to the following:
    I use Win XP pro sp3 fully updated, Dell PC 4GB Ram, LR and CS5 both latest versions. Print through Qimage to epson 7880 - Workflow/ monitor all fully colour profiled. Workspace adobe 1998
    Colour setting:
    These settings have not changed in years.
    My issue is that if I open a jpeg image in CS5 (colour is correct), save as psd or tiff (the colour is correct)
    BUT if I save as jpeg (having done nothing to the file!) the colour on the saved file has shifted
    I am not getting any profile mismatch warnings - this problem has only surfaced in the last few weeks.
    Any ideas would be much appreciated
    Thanks, Nigel

    Hi again, Sorry had a busy weekend so I had
    to disappear! Ok Firstly I cannot understand why a monitor profile could
    be the culprit (just to rehash I develop a jpe
    g in LR (colour is good, Print is good) Op
    en in Cs5 colour looks same. If I save as PSD or Tiff Colour stays the same and prints same - Happy days!
    But If I save as a jpeg (with or without a file number change the colour looks ok in CS. BUT when I close it & open it again in CS the colour has shifted. Also this shift is clearly visible in LR and QImage and in the print! It seems to me that the save as jpeg is the problem.
    But just in case I  reprofiled the monitor this morning (Eye1 display2) but problem is the same.
    It has been suggested to me that the best thing to do is to reload CS5 might cure this.  Any thoughts?
    Also if i do that (I am on upgrades since v5 missing only CS4) Is there a way to skip loading all the versions?
    Thanks Nigel

  • JPEG problem

    Cant save as a jpeg due to program error.
    I rest preferences still cant save as jpeg in CS2 V9

    "JPEG format supports CMYK, RGB, and Grayscale color
    modes, and does not support alpha channels."
    (quoted by PhS help).
    Save for Web can be applied to 16 bpc RGB images, but
    Save As JPEG requires 8 bpc (RGB) source images in CS2
    (as tested).
    PhS JPEG can save clipping paths, if I recollect
    correctly !

  • Webcam capture & save as JPEG image

    Hi,
    I'm creating an application to capture image via webcam using directshow. I've managed to capture the stream using samplegrabber.
    the problem is when I save the grabbed image to a JPEG, the colors are incorrect.
    provided the link of the captured image from the webcam http://www.filefreak.com/pfiles/44160/test2.jpg
    the right hand side of the image should be brown colored, not blue as in the picture.
    I've also test to save as a bmp image, the color are ok.
    this is how i save the grabbed webcam frame into a jpeg file
    sampleGrabber->GetCurrentBuffer(&bufferSize, (long*)frameBuffer);
    //save into jpeg
    struct jpeg_compress_struct cinfo;
    struct jpeg_error_mgr jerr;

        return;
    image_buffer = (unsigned char*)frameBuffer;

  • Shot in RAW and want to save in jpeg

    I shot in RAW and opened with PSe 10.  Did my edits and went to save in jpeg and the option was not available;  only photoshop and tiff options were available.  How can I save in jpeg?  what about the file I am trying to save prevents a jpeg option?

    To save time, simply change the bit depth before clicking the Open Image button.
    Click to view
      This is no longer a problem in PSE11 as it’s possible to save a jpeg from a 16 bit file.

  • How to default save as JPEG?

    My current workflow has been placing rectangular photos onto white square backgrounds and then saving as JPEGs. Each time I have to save the resulting image, I have to manually opt for JPEGs. Is there any way of making this a default? Thanks if anyone knows.
    Richard

    When you have several layers, a jpeg format can't save your work, you have to create another file in psd or tiff format to keep the original unchanged and a new file with layers as a copy.
    The normal use of the 'save' command is to overwrite the original image. What you really want is not a single step, it's to:
    - flatten the layers
    - save (overwrite) the original image file.
    Allowing a default to automatically do that when you are editing a layered file would be a disaster in most cases. So you have two ways to tell the software to do that:
    - specify the jpeg format as output and if you want to overwrite the original or create a copy or version set
    - do a 'flatten image' before trying to do a 'save' or 'save as'.
    (If you use 'save for web', you are implicitly telling you want to flatten and save as jpeg).
