PTMergeAndValidatePrintTicket() doesn't do what it promises?

I am developing XpsDrv printer driver for Windows 7 and trying to merge print tickets in my filter module. For this purpose I use
PTMergeAndValidatePrintTicket() function.
The problem is: PTMergeAndValidatePrintTicket() seems to validate PrintCapabilities and both PrintTickets Ok, but always returns BasePrintTicket without merge settings with those from DeltaPrintTicket and always return
OLE_S_STATIC (error?).
Could someone help me, please?
Here is my parameter, which is always set to 200 in the resulting PrintTicket, regardless the value in the page-scope DeltaPrintTicket:
PrintCapabilities for my device:

Does anyone have an idea? Thanx in advance for any advice!

Hey Malkin,
You've stumbled upon two separate issues.
1) HRESULT is OLE_S_STATIC - This is the result of a colliding HRESULT. The actual constant is defined in prntvpt.h and is S_PT_NO_CONFLICT, so that part is ok, albeit confusing. I'll file a bug for the next version of Windows to see if we can untangle that
conflict.
2) ParameterInit values are not merged appropriately. This is a bug in our PrintTicket implementation and there is no workaround. I would encourage you to open a case with Microsoft Support if this is blocking you and seek a fix that way. In parallel,
I will file an issue on our internal bug database for the next version of Windows.
I cannot guarantee that we will address either issue, but we will investigate both.
Thanks!
Justin

  • SQL doesn't do what it promises to do

    Who can explain this?
I run this sql on oracle 10.2
    SELECT ap_prod,ca_altcod,clm,pn_id FROM sa_codalt,sa_prodnat,sa_prod,usrtraco.traco_sa_prod,sa_natura
    WHERE ap_prod=pn_prod(+)
    AND pn_id IS NULL
    AND ca_prod=ap_prod
    AND ca_tipo=90000000013
    AND oldcod=ca_altcod
    AND nt_tiponat='CLM'
    AND nt_cod=clm
the result is 10 row all with the field pn_id null as specified in the where clause, but if I run the same query asking only to extract a new fileld from the table sa_natura, the query return much more rows even that with the pn_id not null, why?
    thnks to all

I try to precise my problem.
I've two db, tell one of them A and the other B.
Now in the A db I've a table addressA with the addresses of some person, in the B db I've the personB and the addressB table. The addressA and the addressB aren't synchronized (the last is and outdated version of the first).
I want to find out in the B db if there are person who doesn't have an address, so I execute a query like this:
    select * from personB,addressB
    where personB.id=addressB.personId(+)
    and addressB.personId is null
Ok, up to here nothing strange.
Now , for all the person without an address I want to discover if there is a new address to associate in the addressA table, so, I create in the A db a dblink (tell that dblinktarget) to the B db and then from the A db I execute a query like this:
    select personb.id,addressA.avenue
    from personB@dblinktarget,addressB@dblinktarget,addressA
    where personB.id=addressB.personId(+)
    and addressB.personId is null
    and personB.id=addressA.personId
Ok, in my environment, this query result in all the person who have an address in the addressA table without consider the condition addressB.personId is null , that is returns even records with the field addressB.personId not null.
I don't know if it can be important but the B db, differently from the A db, is in RAC configuration.

  • What options do I have if Best Buy doesn't honor what they sold you . . .

This is my first time ever to post, but I am at wits end and hoping for help from the community. I have been trying to resolve this issue for 6 months. Here's my situation.
My daugher is on her grandparents Verizon plan. Let's name her line B. I am autherized to purchase on the account. My daugher's phone was lost and she needed another one for security reasons. I called around to the Best Buys that we'd be near while travling and found one close by with the phone she wanted. The representative was excellent. Very very helpful and went the extra mile. He told me all about the edge program and how we were only going to pay an extra $10 a month for 2 years because we'd receive a $25 monthly credit. Then after 2 years we could surender the phone just pay taxes and upgrade the phone. The Best Buy representive called for apporval to make sure he could use a upgrade from line A for my daughter line B and still receive the edge. So he double checked to make sure everything would be seemless. This occured Oct 24, 2014. After the first bill it was all but seemless!!
So in November I went to Best Buy, they sent me to Verizon, I went to Verizon, they sent me to Best Buy, Best Buy sent me to another Verizon and spoke to a supervisor. I was shown the error in Best Buys transaction. Best Buy upgraded line A to the edge but since there was no smartphone attached to line A, we did not recieve the $25 credit. Verizon sent me back to Best Buy and said Best Buy need to honor what they sold me. I went back to Best Buy close to my home. That Best Buy told me only the Best Buy I bought it from could help me. I had to call them because they are 5 hours and 6 minutes from my home. It took a few more calls before I spoke the mobile manager and he was going to investigate. Then it was the holidays and he didn't get back to me. I completely understood,. I called he and he said he hadn't forgotten me. Finally in December he told me he met with Ashley the Verison's Best Buy representive. According to him a Best Buy mobile supervision they would going to credit the account $50 for Novemeber and December. After that point we'd see the $25 edge credit. He said he'd forward me the email. I never recieved the email. I drove the 5 hours and 6 minutes to the store and he was off that day, but left a message for him to call me and please forward the email. No phone call, no forward email. So I called again, he was on vacation and wouldn't be in until after his vacation mid January. I was hopeful, but no credit on the bill in Jan 2105. I spoke to him again after his vacation and he promised to forward the email from Verison. Now it is Feb, still nothing, no email, no credit, no follow-up. I drive back there and had to speak the a store Manger, because the mobile manager has now been promoted to another area and he is off that day. The manager assures me the promoted moblie manager will contact me. But he doesn't. I call the store manger and he has the promoted mobile manager call finally me. The promoted mobile manager asks me for a copy of the bill. Fine, I get it to him. I'll have to fax it or mail it, but I would get it to him. Then the bill comes in with a $50 credit!!! Yay, I think they have it resolved, nope. April bill comes in no $25 edge credit.
I call the new mobile manager, poor soul, he doesn't know the situation. He took my information and meet with Ashley from Verizon. He calls me back, wow, he calls me back!!! I am so thankful. Then he starts talking about Best Buy in the third person! He doesn't know what "they" told me. When I bought the phone "they" put it on line A, then "they" transferred it to line B.  He's referring to his Best Buy representative in the third person. Talking about me buying the phone's contract for $600 plus dollars. I started to see red. So I ended oiur conversation to collect myself and called him back. Poor buy! Next conversation he explains that I need to put a smart phone on line A. I can buy a new one, use an old one, whatever, but line A needs a verison smart phone on it. He doesn't know why the promoted mobile manager didn't tell me this before. But since he didn't I'm out at least $150 that no one is willing to refund me. If I give line A the iPhone from line B, I won't have a phone for line B, unless I have one or buy a new one. He was kind enough to agree this was no fault of my own, but that of the Best Buy representive sold me the first time and the promoted mobile manager for not communicating the situation. So this is Best Buy's solution - grandpa who never wants more than his ancient flip phone has to get my daughers iPhone, my daugher get no phone or I have to buy one, and I'm out at least $150 (or more depending on how long this takes to resolve). I didn't even ask but I am sure the iPhone at some point must be surendered. The store manager is aware of the situation and he will call me tomorrow, or will he????
So, do I just accept that they made a mistake, they can't honor their deal because it is a contract with Verison and I have to pay for it? I feel helpless and frustrated. We're under contract for another 2 years.

    Hello nvtrev,
It can be difficult to keep track of all of your belongings while traveling, and it is discouraging to hear your daughter may have lost her phone during travel. While things certainly seemed to have gone awry, I’m glad to hear that your initial experience purchasing a new phone for your daughter was pleasant.
When our customers come to us for phone purchases, they should trust that we are able to communicate with their carrier’s systems to process a phone purchase seamlessly. It certainly seems that we may have missed something during your upgrade, causing you to miss out on the billing credit and that you’ve put forth a valiant effort to try to find a resolution to this issue.
As I am sadly not equipped to personally take a closer look into this issue, could you please share with me the store location and any first names of managers you have been working with regarding these concerns? With the store location and manager names, I would be delighted to reach out to the store’s leadership to better research this experience to see what options we may have for you.
I look forward to your correspondence!
    Sincerely,

  • Verizon, just do what you promised

On November 17, I called Verizon to add hotspot functionality to my iPhone.
The customer service representation (CSR) gave me his first name and recited a cost plan and then said he had another option for me.  He quoted the price I currently paid before taxes, and then cited the proposed price, again--before taxes, to include the added service.  He mentioned my long relationship with Verizon.  The price was to include 10 GB of data, raising our 3-phone total allotment to 12 GB total.  We did NOT discuss phone plan names.  I received a confirmation number from the CSR.  The price was great and the overall effect on our monthly bill was minimal.
We received our December billing, and...you guessed it...the bill did NOT reflect the phone conversation.
I called on December 26th to get things straightened out, believing that my documented confirmation number and notes I and taken during the first call would surely result in a positive outcome.  Noooooo, not with Verizon.  After no satisfaction and my request for a supervisor, "Paula" came on the line and repeated to me, via her scripted responses, over and over that what I was asking for doesn't exist.  Why then, I wanted to know, had it been offered during my initial call?  Paula wanted to "educate" me, as she kept saying.  Educate means this--if Verizon doesn't like what you're saying, they teach you to say they are right and you are wrong.  Educate means give up, customer, you're getting nowhere with us.  Just pay your bill!
Paula kept saying something about a "360."  I finally asked her what that is.  It's a feed back form, she told me.  One where they look into that first phone conversation.  "What are the possible outcomes?" I asked her.  "Do you hear the promise that was made to me and honor it?"--No, that wasn't Paula's answer.  After listening to it, they...educate...me.  If their CSR made a mistake, they don't honor it, because that's just not possible--no such "plan" exists.  They would adjust the bill for one month, "educate" me, and then the bill would conform to higher  cost existing plans, or rather, I would conform to the bill they sent me by paying it and shutting up.  "How long will the 360 feedback form take?" I asked.  About one or two weeks, she said, without bothering to say weekends and holidays don't count; I had to add that for her.  I want my bill abated in the meantime.--"No, that's not an option.  You owe the bill.  It's correct," she insisted.  Late charges and bad credit do apply!  "I want a copy of the transcript," I told her.  "No, you can't have that," Paula said.  Verizon reserves its right to lie about whatever they find on the transcript.  Does anyone believe this??--Does anyone really think Verizon is actually going to (a) listen to the first phone conversation and (b) do anything?  I sure don't.  Why should they when the only possible outcomes are all in their favor anyway.
Paula did not care about my confirmation number.  She never even asked for it.
I spoke to both Paula and her co-worker about verbal contracts, good faith, promises, and loyal customers, but the only two things she had to "educate" me about were (1) restoring my previous contract/plan.  In other words, getting rid of my hotspot function on my iPhone, or (2) agreeing to pay the higher price for the services I added.  I did not accept either option--I want the deal I was promised.  The hotspot is my only internet connection and I need it to work from home.
If you don't ask for a call following a Verizon review of a problem, you won't get one.  I also asked to speak to someone; I don't just want a message left on my phone--I want a conversation.  Paula says if they don't get me the first time, they'll tell me when they're going to call me again.  If I can't pick up the second time, because, you know, I do have...a job, then too bad for me.
The bill we received added data access to my husband's dumb phone.  I would never agree to that.  I agreed to a number, an amount, not a plan.
I've had numerous negative experiences with Verizon (DSL service quit working after 9 years, etc.), and I do wish I could give them the heave-ho, but I tried another wireless service at my home, and it didn't work.  Here's what I learned from this latest nastiness with them; here's how I got educated today:  If you think Verizon is offering you something that seems like a good deal, wait until you get the bill.  It can't possibly be true. I have a name for the plan Verizon offered me on November 17.  It's called the bait and switch plan.
I was getting nowhere, so I asked Paula for the name and contact information for the president of the company.  Paula hung up on me and din't call back, thus ending our one hour, 29 minutes phone call.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

The contract is available at the bottom of every Verizon web page.  It clearly states that this contract overrides anything a rep tells you or puts in writing other than this contract.   So a verbal conversation with a rep does not invalidate this contract, nor does a written statement.  It's pretty simple.  A person doesn't have to go to law school to figure this out, one only needs to know how to read.  Does law school teach one that a contract is whatever you say it is?  Common sense and life have taught me to read what I sign and not to fly off the handle without understanding what I am disputing.  Using law school as the reason you are right is not helping, because you are presumably trained in law yet do not understand the terms of the contract you signed.

Unable to delete email from trash bin.  How do I do this?  If I select and chose delete, it doesn't.  What am I doing wrong?  My grand daughte is using my iPad and I don't want her to see some of the mail there.

There are two ways that should work. When you are in the trash folder, you can swipe on the email in the list - left to right - and a red Delete button should pop up. Or you can select - Edit - at the top of the list of messages and then select the message and tap delete.
Not sure exactly how this works - but if you have restrictions enabled - especially since you let your grandchild use the device - that may be restricting what you can do in the mail app. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. If you have it set to on - turn it off or see if you have mail restricted.

I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.

2-3 days ago, iMessage just stopped working on all my devices (2 iPads; 1 iPhone; 1 Mac), and it hasn't come back since. iPhone waiting for activation, the rest just don't send the messages.
    FaceTime and iCloud work fine.
I really hope this is resolved soon, because I rely heavily on iMessage for the majority of my communications, and I need it back ASAP as I'm on holiday and out of my home country.

I'm having similar issues with my phone.  I got my first iPhone recently, only had an iPod touch gen4 for a little over a year.  Updated to 6.0.2 when we got the phone (iPhone 5) a few days before Christmas.  When I got home on the evening of January 11, my phone would not connect the router anymore.  I was able to get it to connect after resetting the phone and the router, updating the router, and manually connecting.  That laste for a few minutes and then wouldn't work anymore.   I live in an area with very limited service, we have a network extender installed to help, and I am barely getting a 3G signal at times.
My wife's iPad 4, my touchiPod 4, and all of our laptops are working just fine on the router.  When I dropped my kid off at school today, I noticed that I am not even seeing the school network anymore from the parking lot where before I got 3 or 4 bars and could connect to their wifi when I was there.  Today my phone goes back and forth between seeing my home network but not connecting, to not even seeing the network at all even from the same room that the router is in.
Hope Apple fixes this problem soon..............

  • My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what do i do?

Hello my name is Leslie and i would like to ask you guys a question on how to fix my ipod or what is wrong with it. My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what can i do to fix it ?

Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

First thing to consider, are you turning holding it vertically or horizontally when you turn? It has to be more or less horizontal for it to work.
If it still doesn't work, setup an appointment with an Apple Genius to test it some more, and more than likely get a new one.

How do I get my money back?
This app (Apple Remote Desktop) doesn't do what I need.   I only need screen sharing with one user.
Installation and setup of ADR was so complex that I was forced to find a simpler workaround.
I found that a substitute function (75 percent of what I need) is built into Skype.   It's a pain, but it works.
I'd want to get my money back for this expensive Apple Remote Desktop.    I never got the software to work, not even once.
I can't find anywhere that the App Store gives any sort of money-back guarantee.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation.
