  • SQL MP 6.5.1.0 Monitoring Replication Publications and Susbscriptions

    I am setting SQL replication monitoring and the discoveries are going well. However, the Publications and Subscriptions are showing "Not Monitored". I have enabled every discovery and performance rule I can find. I haven't found any monitors for
    either objects. How can I tell when these go bad?

    Looks like all Epson scanners will fail under Mvrx. And who knows when an updated driver will be available. It's not as if they have had a while to do it already.
    After I noticed mine wouldn't work, I deleted my Workforce 610 and re-added it by pressing the + and instead of going for the IP versions that may pop up, that they say to do under normal conditions, select the Bonjour version. When you select the new printer/scanner in the Printers & Scanners Control Panel, then open the control window and then look in the dock and see if your printer is there. Right click on it and go to "Keep in Dock" for easy Access. In the printer panel there should be a little picture of a scanner on the right side. Click on it or type Commmand-3 and the built-in scanner software/utility will come up. After playing with it I think it's better than and there are some cool features that are not in the stock Epson software.

    I have a publication and subscription in place and want to add a new article into it. the problem is when I fo it, I need to reinitialize the entire subscription to see the effect.
    is there any way to reinitialize the subscription and publication for only the new article added ?

    For transactional replication all you do is this:
    sp_addarticle

    Figured I'd add to this very old post as opposed to starting a new one. I've followed the steps outlined by Hillary, and the new table simply never shows up at the Subscriber.
    I've also attempted everything through the GUI, but get the message "[0%] A snapshot was not generated because no subscriptions needed initialization." when trying to launch the Snapshot Agent.
    Note this is on 2012, and the initialization was done via backup/ restore (not snapshot).
    Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Replication articles read-only in one publication and editable in another

    We have many users with a mobile application
    running SQL Mobile and using merge replication to get data back to the SQL 2008 R2 database. This has worked very well for many years.
    We now have a requirement to have this data reported on using Reporting Services. This is where it gets messy.
    Due to a limitation of Report Builder(see this blog)
    we cannot provide access to users for creating their own reports. The report database is remote from the host and there is no VPN.
    We hit upon the idea of creating an almost identical publication but the articles as read-only. It was only after this was done that we started having trouble with our existing mobile users. 
    It seems that a published article is EITHER Bi-directional OR Read-only even if they are in separate publications.
    I then thought of using Transactional Publication but this too is blocked on creation with "automatic identity range support is useful only for publications that allow updating subscribers"(Merge and Transactional publication are mutually exclusive)
    So in the final analysis is there a way for me to have merge replication AND some other form of SQL replication/data transfer that can have the same data transmitted readonly to a separate full SQL server database?
    Your insights, ideas and advice appreciated. 

    What you described is not possible.
    You may consider to combine replication and log shipping or republish the data.

  • Publications and Internet Explorer

    Hi Experts,

    Internet Explorer 10 or 11
    This is my doubt, we have a publication that runs a webintelligence report and send by email the link (%SI_VIEWER%) to open the report.
    The problem comes when the user clicks on the link to view the document, the browser doesn't show anything but if you minimize and maximize the window  the information appears, only happens with internet explorer.
    Any suggestions or ideas

  • Publication and Prompt values

    Hi,
    I am on customer site with BOE XI 3.1 FP 1.6. We are creating publications with a WebI source report. The WebI report has a series of prompts. Eg. posting period. The publication is pushed to 2 groups of reciepients. Each group has a different profile value. The WebI report has been last saved with posting period = 5. When I schedule the publication, I change the posting period to 3.
    2 instances were generated for the 2 profile values. When I open the 1st instance - it shows me data for posting period 3 - which is correct. However, the 2nd instance shows me data for posting period 3. It seems like the prompt value at the time of scheduling did not get picked up for the 2nd instance.
    Has anyone came across this problem?

    Hi Cindy,
    We came across the same problem.  We have a publication for a certain group, that has to be split on the section (normal publication).
    The publication has to run on different times for a different value.   Originally the webi report has run for a value product=1, which is selected with a prompt. When we change the prompt value in the publication (product=2) the original value is still selected in the publication or the result set is empty.
    We have however discovered that when you first open the Webi report, refresh it with the new prompt value, save the report and then change the prompt in the publication the report is correctly refreshed.  This is a workaround we currently use, but it is not very convenient.  We are looking for a solution for this problem.

    Hi,
    I have created the following Profile and assigned with their respective Cost Center:
    1)     Profile A u2013 assigned with Cost Centre 10000
    2)     Profile B u2013 assigned with Cost Centre 20000
    3)     Profile C u2013 assigned with Cost Centre 30000
    These Profile is assigned to their respective user:
    1)     User AAA u2013 assigned with Profile A
    2)     User BBB u2013 assigned with Profile B
    3)     User CCC u2013 assigned with Profile C
    In Publication ->Personalization, I want to assign all of this Profile (Profile A, B, and C) to the Cost Centre field.
    So that we this Publication is run, system will generate different report (with different data) and send it the respective user.
    My problem is in Publication ->Personalization, I donu2019t see how we can assign all the Profile to the Cost Centre field, I can only assign one Profileu2026
    Please help.

    the answer is:
    1) create only one Profile
    2) create many different Cost Center under this Profile
    3) assign each of this Cost Center to different user under this Profile

  • Publications and SAP ECC

    Are publications supported when reporting off of SAP ECC using Crystal Reports? I'm trying to figure out how best to handle view time security (row level security and/or object level security) when reporting directly off of ECC tables.

    You're correct that the Security Editor or ECC security will work with scheduling, but the security is applied at schedule time and we need to have security applied at view time based upon the user id of the person viewing the report instance. That's why I'm thinking I'll need to use something like Publications to apply additional viewtime security to the instance.
    Do Publications support column security like the Universe does? I know it applies row level security but we have  a need to suppress certain columns for HR and Financial reporting.
    BTW - this all applies to Crystal Reports 2008 only and we're running BO Edge 3.1. Thanks.

    You can't do any of that with just ID. You need access to the Digital Publishing Suite and generate the relevant ePub formats and platform-specific packages.

  • Publications and merging pdf's

    I have a few Crystal reports and a cover page which is a PDF.  I want to merge them into one pdf with page numbers.  But I do not want to have the page numbers on the cover page.  So on page 2 to start the counts.  Is there a way of doing this?

Currently I am using Aspose PDF which allows me to rename fields and generates a new pdf once i rename it. But when i try to open it, it throws an error saying that "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact Author"and after that i am not able to edit and save data.

  • Book Publication and Comments

    I am trying to setup the Book feature for the first time in BPC 5.1 SP3.  I have a bunch of heavily customized EvDRE input templates (about 90 or so) that I would like to be able to publish to a pdf file for our 280 business units that prepare these templates (so that they can have a copy for their records).
    I created the Book Template and defined all the templates and dimensions for each file, however when I go through the Book Wizard and publish the templates to a pdf file, the data is coming through, but the comments (evcoms) are not.
    When I execute the Book Wizard, I can see (in the background) the system opening the specified template and refreshing it.  When the refresh is complete, I can see both data and comments, however there is a split second that just before the system prints the template to a pdf file, the comments disappear.
    As a result, when you open the pdf file, you only get the data (no comments).
    Has anyone encountered this issue before?  If so, were you able to get the system to print both data and comments?
    Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

    I am using EvCOMu2019s on my input schedules.
    I converted one of my templates to EvCGT and I do see comments coming back from the system now, however itu2019s not putting the comment back into the input cell on the schedule.
    Our input schedules are setup where the input section is in one part of the spreadsheet (Columns A u2013 K) and the EvCOMu2019s are off to the side hidden from our users (Columns O u2013 S), which is how we designed it.
    I believe this was one of the limitations of EvCGT u2013 it will return the comment, however it wonu2019t place that comment back in its original cell where it was keyed in, which is what I need for the Book feature.
    Any other thoughts/suggestions?

    Goto Spro-APO-supply chain Planning-PPDSGlobal setting-maintain global parameters and defaults-
    Transfer to R/3 Inhouse Production- Always create transfer event
    Transfer To R/3 External Procurement- Do not create transfer event.
    To transfer external procurement periodicaly you can use /SAPAPO/RRP4 go to change mode and click on transfer order.
    Have a small test from all angles before going ahead with this approch. As you need check whether changes to already transfered purchase requisition get transfered to ECC if not how you will identify such orders and send it to ECC.
    May I know what is buisness reason for such requirement because I seen requirement to transfer inhouse production and external procurement only on conversion but heard of such requirement first time.

  • How do the ibooks apps (viewer AND author) identify a publication?

    I have a recurring frustration with my own iBooks that I have created in iBooks Author. 
    I should start by saying that in some cases I created an original publication and layout (Call that BOOK 1) and then later duplicated that file to create a similar publication with different content (Call this BOOK 2).  With the second ibooks author file, I used a different file name, a different TITLE (in all applicable areas - the Cover Title,  the relevant areas of the inspector (along with the author name), etc.
    In the end I have two very different publications of vastly different file sizes, content, titles, etc.
    Whichever iBook I first load into the iBooks (reader) app (say, BOOK 1) loads perfectly.  Then when I try to do the same with the "relative," it accuses BOOK 2 of being a duplicate of the one already in my library.  The only way to read BOOK 2 is to delete BOOK 1 and then load BOOK 2 into my library (at which point it accurately).  If I want to read BOOK 1... yep... I have to first delete BOOK 2.
    This trend has now expanded... as I have made 5 or 6 publications from the same beginning template, and this has made for a frustrating experience with the concept of having a "library" containing the full collection.
    What am I missing?  I see that the files copied into my User Accounts library are strings of numbers, not names.  Is this number somehow created upon the creation of a new (fresh) ibook project in iBooks Author, and thus never changes regardless of how many times I make edits to the title (or file name) of the book?
    Arrrrrggghhh.  Any help GREATLY appreciated!

    That's the problem.  Duplicating the file does not work.   I don't remember the fix for sure, but I think you have to save your original as a template and then use that as the basis for further books.
    This has been addressed in the forum quite a few times.  If you search you should be able to find other discussions with a definite answer.
