Published Output Files-Flash
Hi, would anyone know if a paper exists that would explain
how the output files generated [Flash] display with the correct
page in the web application or do I have to add map id's and work
with the developer to create this feature. In other words do I add
map id's in order for the user to view help for the page he is on
and if I don't - will the user get the browser help and navigate to
the help he needs. I haven't worked with this tool alot as you can
tell.
Thank you.
Kathleen,
Yes, map IDs are necessary for context-sensitive help to
work. If you are looking for instructions for implementing the map
IDs correctly, I found that having someone (a developer) who is
familiar with JavaScript look at the explanation in RoboHelp's help
system went a long way. (See the topic in RoboHelp's help entitled
"Calling functions from Web pages.")
All that is really needed for the context sensitivity to work
in Web applications is two main things:
1. In RoboHelp, assign a map ID to each of your help topics
that corresponds to a Web page. (Use the Context-Sensitive Help
folder in RoboHelp's left pane.)
2. Have your developer(s) put the link to RoboHelp_CSH.js in
the <head> of each Web page's HTML. The help link must also
be coded with a little JavaScript, including the correct map ID for
that page. "Calling functions from Web pages" gives an example.
RoboHelp_CSH.js, which you can find in the directory where you
installed RoboHelp (...RoboHelp 6.0\CSH API), must be copied to the
appropriate place where this link can find it.
The map ID part takes a little coordination between you and
the developers, but that is really the only thing that should be
different from Web page to Web page. The rest of the JavaScript
should be the same on each page.
If you decide not to work with context sensitivity and map
IDs, the Help link can link to the ***.htm file that is named after
your project, and the help will open to the file that you set as
the default topic in the FlashHelp output dialog.
Feel free to post again if you have questions about the
details. I believe some of the experts in the forum have tutorials
online if you don't find RoboHelp's help or this forum adequate in
answering your questions. Good luck,
Ben

BI Publisher - output file window won't open
My customer is having an issue with opening or saving report output generated by BI Publisher.
Environment is Siebel CRM 8.1.1 running on RH Linux 4. Out of box reports work fine to the extent we can fin all the outputs under Administration - BIP Report. However after we select the output type (PDF, EXCEL, RTF, etc), a new window opens prompting for either "open" or "save". Clicking either button will result in nothing, while the local desktop's CPU usage by IE shoot up, sometimes up to 100%. Browser is IE6 by the way.
If anybody has seen this before or has any pointers, please let me know.
Thanks!

Imported Flash files are not playing in published output
Adobe Presenter 7 with the latest updates and PowerPoint 2007
When I insert a Captivate 3 generated Flash file into a Presenter slide, the flash file does not play in the Published output. The slide's image is displayed for 5 seconds and then stops.
After further review, I found that my imported Flash files are not included in the output. Any ideas?
TerryHi Terry,
It's been awhile since I've messed around w/ Captivate 3, but I have a quick question: does your Captivate content include a skin.swf file? If so, then you may have to look at a couple of different solutions to fix the playback problem that you're seeing with Presenter.
One fix includes eliminating the skin by turning the borders option off which will eliminate the "_skin.swf" file. That'll be one less file to deal with, but you need to do that BEFORE publishing in Captivate. From there, you should end up with one swf file from your Captivate content; and then at that point you can include that swf in your Presenter content.
And while we're at it....are you using any Full Motion Recordings at all? I've seen instances where, as you reported, Captivate content will run for awhile, but then the screen "goes blank"...so I'm just curious to know if your Captivate content in actuality has many more files than the "base" swf---which is probably the swf you included in PowerPoint.
Having said that, can you share more information about what your Captivate project looks like (in terms of the number of swf files you're working with, etc), and let's see if we can resolve this for you.

Error message when publishing and problems opening output file
I have 5 projects linked together. When I publish one, I get a message that the files listed below are linked to the open project, and one or more of these projects may require exporting. I have tried to open these files and choose File | Export | Project to | but the options in the list (Flash 8 and Flash CS3) are both grayed out--on every one of these files. I'm publishing to Flash 9.
I didn't think much about this message until a few reviewers said they can't open the project, or when they do, they don't see my playbar on the skin.
One more thing--when an IT person was trying to help one reviewer open the output file, the IT person said "Oh, there's a problem with the code in line 25." I guess that's the html code? I'm not a programmer, but I can look at html code. What should I be seeing there in line 25?
Is their problem opening the output file(s) related to my message about possibly needing to export files? Why might they be having problems getting the output file to open?
Thanks for any insights you can provide!
SAMHi Sam
It depends on a number of things. Are you certain you uploaded all the files involved? If not, there will be problems.
The message about the linked files is quite simply advising you that you have links from that particular movie that will expect to find the files being linked to.
If a person isn't seeing playback controls and you have included them, it's likely you haven't provided the correct link for them to open and play the file. Typically you provide a link to the HTML page Captivate creates. As long as all the output files are in the same place on the server, you should be good to go.
Cheers... Rick

Hello again - I seem to be asking lots of basic questions to
try to move along faster once I really get into the project
writing. I've examined most help topics on this subject but am
having difficulty getting results.
I've been reading that output files and source files can
easily be confused and to store the output files in a location
other than the tool suggests. Is this a step I'd add when creating
the project? I tried to rebuild one but didn't see where I'd
separate the folders. I don't really know what output files I'm
looking for, nor where I'd put them once I do find them. I'm a very
basic user and will not be adding topics through import, nor
manipulating the True Code if that makes a difference.
In addition, my Publish option is greyed out when I attempt
to select Publish no matter what layout option is chosen. I have
generated the project in Flash. I have not defined the publishing
destination since I can't open the Publish dialog. Let me know if
this is enough information to respond.I apologize if I wasn't clear. The impression I got from
Kathleen's initial post is that she's trying to keep the source
files and output files separate so as not to get them confused with
each other.
As noted, I had to change my destination from the default
(which was ".../<project folder>/!SSL!/FlashHelp") because
our Web environment was choking on the exclamation points and
wouldn't open the help. It works fine now that I have a directory
without exclamation points for my output.
I also generate to my hard drive (D: drive on my laptop), not
to a Web destination. My suggestion is merely to specify your own
path for the output if it suits your needs better. If I'm playing
with fire, I haven't burned my fingers yet... :) My help gets moved
to a server when the rest of our Web applications get deployed, so
I don't use the step of publishing to a Web server myself.
Kathleen, regarding your question where your source files are
added: When you create a new project, the dialog asks you to pick a
primary layout, then the next screen includes a field called "Enter
the location for the project." That directory is where your source
files are stored, including the .xpj project file that opens your
project in RoboHelp. If you're opening your project by first
opening RoboHelp and then selecting your project from the list of
projects, one way you can find your project source files is by
searching your hard drive for ".xpj" in the file name.
Hope this is some help (and that I'm not creating more
confusion than I'm eliminating...)!

When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb. The records contained in excel file is 4000 records. When taking the excel records and copy to new excel file the excel file size is 3.5 mb only. Why does the oracle software generates 20mb file?
Does any one knows the answer please advice?Hello,
This issue is because the Excel output from BI Publisher is MHTML (XML Publisher generates XHTML) not binary .xls.
MHTML and XHTML are more verbose formats than binary .xls.
It will be large because the current Excel output is just an HTML and not compressed like PDF. Please use the workaround (save it as .xls file). This is a known limitation of RTF layout templates.
BI Publisher Enterprise has a new feature True Excel Templates. The layouts generate binary Excel output.
Excel Output File Size Generated By BI Publisher is Very Large (Doc ID 760437.1)

How to find out the BI Publisher Version from the Excel output file

XML data output file in a directory needs to be published as a pdf report
Hi,
I have already got an XML output file in a directory.
I want to display it using RTF template using a concurrent program or some sort of java api in a pdf format to be able to print it.
How do I do it? Do I have to write another file output command to read the xml data line by line and output to BI publisher first?Hi,
Hmm, one way is to just utl_file read the file and fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output) then close the file. Setup conc prog, rtf template, data definition and you're done.
But the main thing is that you get the XML file to $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT/oXXXXX.out where XXXXX is the request id. You could just setup host concurrent program and copy the file there!

Publish html5 file from Flash Pro CC
I subscribed Flash Pro CC and open a fla file produced by using Flash Pro CS5, It works to be tested with Control > Test Movie > Flash Professional and also successfully published to a swf and a html files. But it didn’t work to publish with CreateJS toolkit to be html5 file. A warning says
“Frame numbers in EaselJS start at 0 instead of 1. For example, this affects gotoAndStop and gotoAndPlay calls. (10)
Content with both Bitmaps and Buttons may generate local security errors in some browsers if run from the local file system”.
What should I do to solve this problem?Thank you very much, Kglad. It seems to me that I should insert JS statemnts in the actionScript to complete the job. I don't have any experience in JS. My Fla has only "Click to certain frame of theTmeline" with the Actionscript such as
OBJ_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickto1);
function clickto1(event:MouseEvent):void
gotoAndStop("OBJ");
Should I insert a JS in addition to this script? The JS should be inside of " /* JS..........*/" ? Do I have to learn the whole JS before I can know how to publish HTML5 from Flash Pro CC? Please help me. -
Flash Player Security error when publishing HTML files
I am new to the Captivate world and am just in love with the
features - but I have been having a very difficult time publishing
my "movies". I have 8 files that are all called upon in one movie
(like a table of contents). I have abandon the though of publishing
each as an EXE file - and have decided to go the HTML route.
However when I try to run the published HTML file I get an Adobe
Flash Player Security error - saying "Adobe Flash Player has
stopped a potentially unsafe operation." It then says that the
local SWF file is trying to communicate with the Internet-enabled
HTM file.
Can someone please tell me what this means? We are using
Captivate for distance learning as well as internal - so I can't
know for sure what the end-users will be using when the files are
used.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Welcome to our community, Rachel
Where are you running your movie from? If you are planning on
running them from a server, there should be no need to worry about
your end user seeing those messages. However, if you are planning
on each user copying them to their own hard drive or if you are
running from a CD-ROM, you may need to perform some trickery to
make them work without issue.
The message is occurring because there are links in some of
the files that point to internet resources and the Flash player is
seeing that as a potential security risk. So it is blocking the
action until you pat it on the head and assure it the world will
not, in fact, end if it shows you the content.
If you wish to banish the screen on your PC, take a look at
the tutorial linked below.

I'll hold off on the other bit until I'm certain what we are
dealing with.

Help me publish/export CS3 Flash file as Quicktime Video, no controller
I am working on a simple timeline animation and would like to publish/export my flash file as a quicktime file with out the default controller. I can export it no problem with the controller. Also I tried publishing it as a QuickTime with Flash Track (.mov) and I get this error message. "QuickTime does not support Adobe Flash track beyond Flash version 5. You can however, export a QuickTime move with Flash rendered as video by selecting File > Export > Export Movie.
Also, does anyone know if transparencies are ok if publishing as a QuickTime movie?QuickTime 7.3.1, and higher, no longer support Flash (.swf) in playback. Previous versions did allow .swf format as a muxed "track" if "Published" from Flash applications as version 5, or lower.
To turn off the controller (none) use the Movie Properties / Presentation tab.
QuickTime does allow levels of transparency and also "alpha channels" in most image formats that support them (.png). -
XML Publisher - Specify Output file name
Hi All
I am using XML Publisher in one of our OAF pages to generate PDF reports based on some parameters. I am using the shared region which OAF has provided. On export, I see that the output file name is : template code + random number + _out.pdf. Is there anyway to specify custom output file name?? As this is little critical for me, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
MurariHi Avaneesh,
Thanks for your prompt response. I see that the logic for file name is in xml publisher utility class: DocumentHelper. I dont see any option to pass file name as a parameter to DocumentHelper. So I am not sure if extending OAF region controller : "DocumentViewerCO.java" would be of any help?? Please correct me if I am wrong. Did you ever try changing output file name from OAF page?
Many thanks,
Murari -
