  • Renaming published flash files

    Hello,
I am working on a website where we have links to many .html
docs published from a flash template. We recently changed the
saving structure of the site, so I had to change all of the names
of previously published flash documents. Now, when I click on the
links, a new window opens, but nothing loads and I noticed the page
title is still named the old name. Will I have to go back into each
.fla and republish to .swf and .html?
Here is an example of the renaming:
    Old link: <a
    href="pk_links/Kids/nov08/infant_sweetivy_nov08/infant_sweetivy_nov08.html"
    target="_blank">Sweet Ivy</a>
    New link: <a
    href="pk_links/Kids/infant_sweetivy/infant_sweetivy.html"
    target="_blank">Sweet Ivy</a>
I just renamed the files in Finder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Letty

Amy, are you viewing the project locally or from a
web-server? If locally, the irritating error message should go away
after you FTP the project to a server and access it on the web
    through your browser.
    Curiosity ...
You say you have published a "
project with several different movies". What does that mean?
Does your Captivate movie contain other Captivate movies (vis-a-vis
"movie-in-a-movie" style), or are you just saying that you have
created multiple Captivate movies as part of a larger (multi-movie)
    project? Thanks.

  • Flash file stuck in a "low quality" mode when published to intranet

    Hi All,
New to captivate..the issue I am having is that after
publishing to a flash file, I'd like to have others in my firm
review the course prior to it going live in our LMS. However, for
some reason the quality of the movie is very low, although I have
the html script (a little new to that as well) set to have the
quality=best. The worst areas are the caption boxes, the text looks
awful. The rest I can live with, however it makes our work look
    horrible to our business partners.
    Things I've done:
    1) Loaded a Flash-sourced movie to the intranet to see if it
has the same quality issue. It doesn't.
    2) Looked at the captivate published movie in the html file
captivate generated- it looks fine there.
Anyone else run across this issue? It seems to be something
with the way captivate publishes the file. Not sure though, I'm not
    a programmer by any stretch.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Welcome to our community, Jason
From what you are describing, I am concluding that you are
perhaps simply sending the .SWF along via E-Mail for review?
If so, you need to know that if you do this, it will scale to
fit whatever the browser size is. And when that happens, the
quality will suffer. Exactly how much suffering occurs depends on
    how much things are scaling.
The best approach is to upload the files to a web server or
to a network server. Then provide a link to the HTML page Captivate
    created.

  • Flash file not publishing

Flash newbie here. I've created a flash file, and the intrux
suggest to save, check the Publish Settings that they are correct,
and then click okay. (Okay, I've done this numerous times
) I then click on "Publish", but instead of getting
the next dialog box, the dialog box flashes briefly (pun
unintended) on the screen, and then disappears. The file(s) show up
in the Dreamweaver files palette however. I've tried uploading the
file.swf and the file.html, but the browser only displays a broken
gif. The animation tests okay in the <Control><Test
Movie> exercise, so what am I doing wrong to have the publish
dialog box display for a split second and then disappear?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

Please ask in the Flash forum, this forum is for discussions
    about the SWF
format and open solutions, not about flash (the authoring
    tool). You'll get
better responses when you ask in the appropriate places.

  • Publishing with AC2 to create 1 flash file

I am working with a CMS that can work well with flash files
individually. They tend to be rendered just fine (therefore I get
to bypass the html export). Upon trying Adobe Captivate 2, the
publish feature creates 2 flash files (and others, but later on
that) - one for the skin, one for the content. Is there some way to
get AC2 to publish the skin and content into one file? Or am I
going to have to do that in Flash 8?

    Larry
I am new to this forum and have found helpful information for
problems I have had, posted from you and others. Thank you and the
others for your volunteer help. Volunteer service is not always
rewarded. I do want to say for myself and others, you are
    appreciated.
Though, I have noticed a trend in several of the threads.
Especially when information is provided to new users.
    You asked
"What more could I have done to be nice (enough) for your
    highly cultivated sensibilities?"
You could have simply left out the following in your reply:
"I've been around for years, and am having to "guess" at what
your intent is, so you can imagine how many folks might have even
less clue than I, and they might also know the answer, if they
    could understand the question."
I sense a need for you to bring up that you have knowledge of
the product and volunteer your help at every turn. Simply providing
the answers to the problems will send the same message.
You obviously understood the two acronyms used. andKlinger
even spelled out Adobe Captivate 2 in the sentence preceding the
one in which he used "AC2." I would think on a forum where CMS,
LMS, SCORM, SWF, HTML, JS, and many others are used, we could
simply put an assumption statement in the response.
Your choice of paraphrasing one of the most arrogant
    characters in movies is informative.
"Intelligence trumps muscle, Imagination Trumps Both!"
Arrogance shuts the door to communication.
Let's make new users feel welcome by toning down the
commentary and just try to help.
It is ironic that after many of dressing downs you follow it
up with "Welcome to the community."

  • Flash Player Security error when publishing HTML files

I am new to the Captivate world and am just in love with the
features - but I have been having a very difficult time publishing
my "movies". I have 8 files that are all called upon in one movie
(like a table of contents). I have abandon the though of publishing
each as an EXE file - and have decided to go the HTML route.
However when I try to run the published HTML file I get an Adobe
Flash Player Security error - saying "Adobe Flash Player has
stopped a potentially unsafe operation." It then says that the
local SWF file is trying to communicate with the Internet-enabled
    HTM file.
Can someone please tell me what this means? We are using
Captivate for distance learning as well as internal - so I can't
know for sure what the end-users will be using when the files are
    used.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to our community, Rachel
Where are you running your movie from? If you are planning on
running them from a server, there should be no need to worry about
your end user seeing those messages. However, if you are planning
on each user copying them to their own hard drive or if you are
running from a CD-ROM, you may need to perform some trickery to
    make them work without issue.
The message is occurring because there are links in some of
the files that point to internet resources and the Flash player is
seeing that as a potential security risk. So it is blocking the
action until you pat it on the head and assure it the world will
not, in fact, end if it shows you the content.
If you wish to banish the screen on your PC, take a look at
    the tutorial linked below.

I'll hold off on the other bit until I'm certain what we are

    Hi
Can you tell me which version of dreamweaver you are using (and flash pro, if you have it), as the code you provided has element of a number of different versions (e.g. your js flash files are reasonably new, but your flash inserted into the html body is old, but with the cs3 version of flash player indicated!). Also the detect flash file is no longer required.

  • Publish Aggregator flash file in version 8?

I would like to use the aggregator in Captivate 4 as a menu to link several tutorials together.  However, my company uses Flash Player version 8 (PCs are locked down and NO ONE is allowed to upgrade anything).  This is no problem with the individual tutorials - I've published them using version 8 and they all work fine.  But I can't seem to find a way to specify what version the aggregator flash file is published in.  Is there a way to publish it to version 8 instead of version 10 (10 is what I use - but not the rest of the company).
Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hi there
Is your post intended to say you have tested with an aggregator file and it fails on your Flash 8 players?

  • Imported Flash files are not playing in published output

Adobe Presenter 7 with the latest updates and PowerPoint 2007
When I insert a Captivate 3 generated Flash file into a Presenter slide, the flash file does not play in the Published output. The slide's image is displayed for 5 seconds and then stops.
After further review, I found that my imported Flash files are not included in the output. Any ideas?
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
It's been awhile since I've messed around w/ Captivate 3, but I have a quick question: does your Captivate content include a skin.swf file?  If so, then you may have to look at a couple of different solutions to fix the playback problem that you're seeing with Presenter.
One fix includes eliminating the skin by turning the borders option off which will eliminate the "_skin.swf" file. That'll be one less file to deal with, but you need to do that BEFORE publishing in Captivate.  From there, you should end up with one swf file from your Captivate content; and then at that point you can include that swf in your Presenter content.
And while we're at it....are you using any Full Motion Recordings at all?  I've seen instances where, as you reported, Captivate content will run for awhile, but then the screen "goes blank"...so I'm just curious to know if your Captivate content in actuality has many more files than the "base" swf---which is probably the swf you included in PowerPoint.
Having said that, can you share more information about what your Captivate project looks like (in terms of the number of swf files you're working with, etc), and let's see if we can resolve this for you.

  • Help me publish/export CS3 Flash file as Quicktime Video, no controller

I am working on a simple timeline animation and would like to publish/export my flash file as a quicktime file with out the default controller. I can export it no problem with the controller. Also I tried publishing it as a QuickTime with Flash Track (.mov) and I get this error message. "QuickTime does not support Adobe Flash track beyond Flash version 5. You can however, export a QuickTime move with Flash rendered as video by selecting File > Export > Export Movie.
Also, does anyone know if transparencies are ok if publishing as a QuickTime movie?

QuickTime 7.3.1, and higher, no longer support Flash (.swf) in playback. Previous versions did allow .swf format as a muxed "track" if "Published" from Flash applications as version 5, or lower.
To turn off the controller (none) use the Movie Properties / Presentation tab.
QuickTime does allow levels of transparency and also "alpha channels" in most image formats that support them (.png).

  • Since swf files cannot be attached to published flash documents for iPad, what format can be attached?

I have a multi-page animated book for iPad developed in Flash 6. Because of its length and to run more smoothly on an iPad, I’ve divided the pages into fifty separate documents –the last frame of each each page would load the next page, a back button would load the previous page. My question is: since an swf file or anything containing actionscript 3 coding cannot be imported or attached to a published flash document, does Adobe have a solution to this problem?

The complexity with this idea is the software has to run from a Mac computer on your network.. so you need a Mac turned on, probably most of the day.
It isn't possible to partition the TC although you can create a image area.
The software would have to copy the material, that means all files to be copied, go from USB drive, back to the Mac, then back to the TC, and written to the drive. In other words you have just added Network congestion, although a proper incremental backup type software will not actually use a lot of capacity.
Finally it will be slow.. network drives are slower than internal drives. Well USB connected drive is much slower than the same drive connected directly to the computer.. and if the drive is connected directly to a computer it can be shared with the network.
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4577/airport-extreme-5th-gen-and-time-capsule-4th- gen-review-faster-wifi-/4
Read carefully the speed of the USB drive plugged into the TC.

  • Publishing swf file with xml feed

I am working in actionscript 3 trying to create a flash banner ad that will be put on multiple sites.  The ad will grab a rss feed and display a number from that feed insie the banner ad.  The Flash file works fine on my local computer when I test it.  The feed is showing up just fine in the ad.  When I publish the ad for the web and test it out on my server, the feed does not display in the ad.  I have checked to make sure network access is selected in the publish settings.  I also have a crossdomain.xml policy file on the server with the feed.  My server is listed in the policy to allow access.  I keep thinking I am overlooking something, but can't figure it out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Flash files as images in XML Forms

    Hi Crew,
Anyone had to use flash files in XML forms Based Publishing?
Have created a simple XML Project asking the user to select two images, and these are then displayed in an iView.
gifs & jpegs display no problemo.   swf (flash files) do not.
    Any ideas?
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I need to display a .swf file in a XML form. I read the solution that you have posted about modifying the XSL file, but i have no clue how to go ahead with this.
Could you kindly provide any document, link or the solution as to how to modify the XSL file ?
Any kind of help would be truly appreciated.

  • How do i play my videos in flash file after moving SWF file to website?

    Hello all,
I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
Does anyone know how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
Sorry if I've waffled but I'm trying to clear up my situation .
Any help would be super, many thanks,
    Flasher87

i am using the website wix, so in order to put the swf file up you just click the "Upload SWF" button, so i don't know how i could put the videos along with the swf, the swf is just sat on the page once i upload it.
second, when using this type of website do you know how i'd go about giving the website the permissions to play flv files?
    Thank you.
